I grow weary of the mental midgets intimating that this software developer is somehow a criminal.  Grow up.
Uhm yeah, they can be, if they rip off GPL'ed code they're obligated to provide the source otherwise they're in breach of the license. There were quite a few fiascos between major corporations over ripping off code. Like it or not it is the LAW.

Uhm, yeah, ...asshole, no shit.  You have any proof that this developer did that?  If not, thanks for the third grade legal lesson.

You're welcome my mentally challenged friend. Do you have any proof that I am making accusations against this developer? Or I am just pointing the obvious error in your statement that developers can't be criminals.

Context, ...asshole, context.  My post, which you quote states in part, "this software developer..." So why would you make a comment of a general nature?  Guilt by association because someone, somewhere did that?  Weak, very weak.  Furthermore, no where in my comment did I suggest that "developers can't be criminals."  But please continue, I am sure most are laughing pretty hard at your attempt to live up to your name.

Easy to answer.  Go look at the history of GPU mining LTC.  Mine and hold.  Don't sell.  Mine now, cash out when the coin you are mining goes up big time.
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE][AMD][NVIDIA][CPU][XMR]How to Mine Monero + Miners Download Links ⛏ on: September 22, 2017, 03:54:19 PM
Guys I have a question I'm trying to setup my rig so I can can choose a coin and mine and when I setup monero it freezes on the claymore miner and won't start up. I'm running win 10 8gb ram 1x xfx 580 8gb 1x xfx 570 4gb 2x xfx 470s and 2x msi gaming x 8gb 480s. I already created a wallet and put the right info in the files but it freezes when it looks for cards. I'm using the new blockchain driver and all cards are currently bios missed for ethereum.

What is your virtual memory page file size?
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Rigs - Is it too late to start?... on: September 22, 2017, 02:57:26 PM
I do not agree with the concept of paying your utilities from coins you just mined.  Did you buy your hardware from coins you just mined?  Of course, not.  It is a speculative hobby.  You must approach mining in this way.  You are not mining for the now, you are mining for the later on the speculative presumption that your coin is going to be worth way more later...more than enough to cover all the utilities and hardware purchases.

So you think people also pay the electricity with their own money and dont touch the coins at all, which world do you live? I don't think you would be a very successful business man, business are meant to use their money to cover the bills, if they don't then they are not a business company at all. You take and give --> that is how a business operates. What you said is, you just give and who knows when you will take so meaning, if the coins goes to 0 then you are dammed, business companies can't take that gamble reason why they sell a percentage the coins they mine to pay the bills.

why r u talking so much bs? mining IS profitable in the long run. I started mining Altcoins in Spring 2016 and it has been profitable to me ever since. i paid all of my hardware in one yoear and have been earning pure profit ever since.

It seems you did not understand a single word I said, go back to your cave you troll.

Metroid, the first post talks about hobby mining.  I also talk about a speculative hobby.  You are the only one talking about it as if you have to run it as a business.  I own 3 businesses that make me more than enough to speculate when and where I want.  A SPECULATIVE hobby is like an investment, not a business.  It is speculative because you don't know if you will make money, or not.  That is the way I approach hobby mining.  If you want monthly returns that meet all your monthly expenses, then this hobby isn't for you.  If you can wait, however, you will do very well providing you choose the correct coin to mine.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Rigs - Is it too late to start?... on: September 22, 2017, 01:26:10 PM
If you mine a coin and hold it, and it appreciates over time, mining can be very profitable.  If you were mining Litecoin when it was below $4, never sold, sold it when it was about $80, you did very well.  This is the approach I take while mining Monero.  I've never sold any of it.

You need to understand that part of the coins you mine you will have to sell to pay the bills, for example electricity. So it means, the moment you sell to pay the electricity and other bills you are already losing, reason why mining is a waste. Mining is never profitable, mining craze which was 3 months ago was also never profitable at all cause the dfficult and farmers tend to overgrow theirs farms which means, common people never see this profit, people paid $700 for a rx 470 3 months ago and will never get that money back. Many of them because of their stupidity still think they are earning $5 dollars a day ehhe and they think that $5 usd is forever and ever hehe

I had similar issues.  Mine turned out to be a defective riser:

I replaced it with another of the same, problem disappeared.

Richard Heart has called Veritaseum a scam

So who is this guy and why would anybody listen to him?
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: September 12, 2017, 11:38:08 AM
Reggie looks like a cool guy Smiley

I got Veri for it's potential to change the way things are done. Reggie put 51 million tokens for grabs, 2 milly sold. Is Reggie stubbornwhen it comes to white papers and crappy websites? Absolutely, and it probably would matter quite a bit if he was looking to expand in the crypto currency space, but he's chosen financial institutions as his targets.

Also to all of you who don't get it, here's how it actually works when the tokens are released according to his plan.

If they are purchased as "access to business machines" then they will be utilized by the receiving company. This is why finding the right clients is so important to Reggie. These tokens will not be sold for capital appreciation, they will be utilized for their business utility.

even if all 98 million tokens were released at once under that premise, the price stays exactly the same at that moment, but the market cap would surge. Then the appreciation willl kick in over time due to the network effect and the fact that there are only potentially access to 2 million more tokens via the existing Veri holders.

Disruption of this nature takes time, should be fun to watch if it's successful.

Accurate. Beautifully stated.
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining MONERO is a worthless endeavor nowadays...and it will only get worse... on: September 05, 2017, 03:01:19 PM
Not too much forward thinking in this thread.  You aren't mining for the price of Monero now, you are mining for the price of Monero later.  Mine, Hold, repeat.  Long-term hold.
193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Motherboards Selection - Please Guide on: September 05, 2017, 11:26:57 AM
It's usually good to limit the number of GPUs you put on each motherboard in order to avoid having too many eggs in one basket.

If the OS/driver throws an error, or the motherboard/CPU/etc. were to fail, then all the GPUs connected to that rig would be down until you fixed the issue. Additionally, stopping at 8 tends to cause fewer setup headaches, at least with current Windows 10 drivers. (Without delving into more modifications, you're stuck with up to 8 from AMD and/or 8 from Nvidia.) YMMV with certain Linux distros.

Those are some of the main reasons why you should stop around 8 GPUs per rig.

I personally use the Asrock H81 Pro (2013 model), and it has worked fine for me. I can't speak for any of the other boards, though.

Thanks for your solid advise...
Yeh i am probably thinking to go with H81PRO BTC R2... low price as well..

Good thread, OP.  I am doing the same as you now.  The next logical question would be what power supply are you going to choose for that MB and which GPUs?

Really? The forum yawns?
This is huge news, we finally get a glimpse of what VERI has in store for the token, and there is no reaction?
Clearly either everyone missed this announcement or they don't understand it. Grab those cheap tokens NOW.

I did miss the announcement, I don't really follow blogs,

But this is great news, no doubt once more people find out about it, the price could skyrocket.

DOUBLE BOOM!!

IMO, this token requires a long hold.  I can't wait to rent out mine.  That is the next thing I am looking for.  Where do I go to rent out my tokens?

197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] POPULOUS - Invoice trading platform | ICO l BOUNTY CAMPAIGN on: July 27, 2017, 12:42:14 PM
There was no ruling from SEC.

They talked aboat a spsific project, "The DAO", and said;

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission’s (“Commission”) Division of Enforcement (“Division”) has investigated whether The DAO, an unincorporated organization; Slock.it UG (“Slock.it”), a German corporation; Slock.it’s co-founders; and intermediaries may have violated the federal securities laws. The Commission has determined not to pursue an
enforcement action
in this matter based on the conduct and activities known to the Commission at this time.

PPT is doing great, trading at 0.01232 PPT/ETH at EtherDelta. ICO price was 0.0011, so
UP 1020%

Also, there is something called Ex Post facto. If a new law is applied, breaking that new law is not illegal if it was done before the new law came into action. So it doesn't matter to Populous if the SEC wants to be an ass. https://www.quora.com/If-a-crime-has-been-committed-then-a-law-is-passed-after-the-crime-is-committed-do-courts-follow-the-old-or-the-new-law-when-trying-the-case

Not that I am arguing against snubbing your nose at the SEC, but what new law?  There is no new law.  The SEC isn't a legislative body.  This is a government commission making a statement so the Ex Post Facto doesn't apply.

Can you two idiots stop saturating this thread with your egotistical bullshit?

Nobody cares about how great you think you are.  People are here because either they invested in VERI or they are interested in it.

So I ask if you both could raincheck your egos and leave this thread.

The "ignore" function works really well.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: July 24, 2017, 01:01:32 PM
I see some "filthy rich" holders with 1 address heavily loaded with various erc20 tokens worth some $ millions.
This is a potential danger because if this account gets hacked, ALL the tokens will be lost.
By right, the holder should generate multiple offline addresses and transfer a portion of each token to each of the addresses for cold storage.
So in case of mistake, the holder only lose a small portion, instead of everything.

I suppose the hack was due to phishing sites like myetherwaillet, myetherwalliet, etc.

I suspect it's a bit more complex than that.   Grin

LOL, People actually take the predictions seriously? I know Clif's been fairly accurate lately on some things, but anyone who puts their full faith and trust into predictions - no matter the methodology or who they come from - deserve to be disappointed.

Laugh all you want, but I have to give clif high credit for providing leads that have netted me more cryptocurrency balances than I could have imagined without his work.  It has nothing to do with full faith and trust.   It has to do with understanding what edge predictive linguistics affords.  As for me, and I know many others, it is working.
