181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A small weakness of bitcoins? on: June 05, 2011, 09:17:23 PM
i would like to see that on windose...
i only know of dd on linux, or encrypting your harddrive and when you don't need it anymore you burn the key.

I think there's an inbuilt tool but I'm not very familiar with Windows. I know ccleaner works very well. For the super paranoid there is dban

Well, to establish Bitcoin as a mass currency you need a never-thought-about-this-security-feature...

Don't forget Bitcoin is in beta state. All the bells and whistles will be implemented in time

Most Operating Systems have inbuilt software to erase free space. The only thing people will need to do is learn to use it
183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 99.9% of Bitcoin Haters are uneducated (regarding Bitcoin) on: June 05, 2011, 08:52:28 PM
Yes, there are a lot of ignorant people and it won't change anytime soon. These people do not engage in rational discussion and there's no changing what they think, therefore I think they should be left alone. They will be able to get to know Bitcoin once it's established and refined for "average joe"

Out of curiosity, is there a mixer other than SR? Cointumbler magically vanished a while back.

http://app.bitlaundry.com/ serves as such, depending on whether you're trying to "mix" more than the wallet has in it at any given time.

mike, is there a way to know how much is in the wallet on that site?

and you are giving them credibility by posting it here

Wow! Slush with his Bitcoin pool was today aired in Czech TV 24 - a local "kind of CNN". He was speaking about it. Nice to know how people look in real!

http://www.ct24.cz/vysilani/2011/06/05/211411058050022-20:00-horizont-ct24/ - since 14:00
(Sorry folks, in Czech language only!)

The talk was recorded on 6/2/2011 and Slush proudly stated BTC broke 10 USD Smiley)).

The most important words that were said can be understood in any language

Satoshi Nakamoto - Genius

This Week in Law 114.
20 minutes in.  Fairly negative and adversarial, but what can we expect?

Hahaha, and their primary concern is that you won't be able to go to court  Grin Americans..

No, you have to use that new login, usually something like emai@abc.com_0 and also set a new password
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it possible to mine on deepbit.net on different computers with same account? on: June 05, 2011, 06:08:19 PM
You press "Create New Worker"

Once you get the email, you can visit http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/ to check if it has been broadcasted. If it has, it is just a matter of time before it gets included in a block and displayed in your bitcoin client
191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Time to receive payment? on: June 05, 2011, 05:27:33 PM
Is your client connected to the network and blockchain up to date? Right now we are at 128813

Just a humble suggestion: How about an investment in a spare server and a cisco router/switch with spanning tree

Anything above 80 is way too high for sustained high load.

Enable unofficial overclocking and lower the Memory clock. For exact settings you'll have to experiment but it should probably be in 300-400MHz range. It will lower the temperatures.

Like cosix mentioned disable hardware acceleration if you want to watch video.

More info on these matters can be found on the mining board

You GPU doesn't support OpenCL.

If you want to see if this works as a proof of concept, you could download Ufasoft miner and try mining with your CPU. Also look into pool mining.

Stop being pussies and spreading this doom and gloom. Bitcoin isn't going anywhere. There is no way to close it down. It depends on everyone of YOU - not some schmuck in a cheap suit. If you use it, there won't be anyone who can do shit about it
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can't Do Anything While Mining on: June 05, 2011, 02:41:14 PM
Lowering the aggression should help. Also keep an eye on the temperatures - the night lock up may be due to overheating
