Hard to say right now and depend on the current rise, if it doesn't go down like it had in 2016 and maintains a stable value around the $1000 for few months then it might IMO, getting to 2k is a large milestone and wouldn't be easy though so if it's not in 2017 it might come within few years.
It is not hard to thing that bitcoin will reach $2k. It is inevitable. Look at the age of BTC, the supply and the people who are targeted to adopt this cryptocurrency. If it fails this year, there is always next year but if ETF is approved then we can say, Bitcoin will have a better chance to reach $2k this year. |

China no longer has real impacts on Bitcoin -- we growing too big.  The interesting part is that the Chinese exchanges are no longer leading the price as it was the case before few weeks Now the price is $1020 +/-10 in the western exchanges meanwhile sub $1k in the Chinese Buying now could be a loss in the beginning but in the long term it is a good investment i don't think that this time is a good time to buy back because the price is go expensive for me and for small trader, maybe if we only buy in small amount, i am sure that we can but to make middle until big amount, i don't think it will be done for only doing one or two trading. maybe we need to wait for a moment and if there is a down trend, then i think it will be a good time to buy back. It's always the same problem with buying... maybe the time is right, maybe not. Nobody can foresee the future. And bitcoin is still a risky investment. I would say it's always the right time to buy, the amount is the tricky thing to find out. The secret here to not stress yourself of buying or not is by simply not thinking anything and buy Bitcoin if you have extra money. Do it for a long time and keep the BTC bought from those extra money. You will be surprise one day on how much you have profited from that action. |

I have around 150++ btc, bought when price dump to $100
How can you get those amount of bitcoin? This is really huge amount that you have, I can be a millionaire when I got that amount in my life. I suppose that you already save it for so long to wait till this time. For today I dont even have any penny amount because I always end up in gambling, try to save at least 0.1 btc but in the end I just lose it May be you can give use some tips how to save until tou got that huge amount LOL you should have asked a signed address that hold those Bitcoin than asking for ways to save BTC. It was clear that he bought it and keep it. Nothing new. Anyway i have earned some amount of BTC but i convert them to cover my daily expenses. I tried to save some but ended up buying altcoins to trade. I believe it is an investment and way to multiply BTC number not just the equivalent price in dollar by holding. |

Long term i dont find anything impossible, even 50000 usd BTC, but its way too early and soon to say something like that. We are growing nicely, people still learn and adopt and we hope to continue the same. When there are no more BTC to mine and governments start to store BTC along with gold, we will see great things i believe
Governments are mining and storing bitcoins since 2013, did you think spike in price back then was only because of news only? There are more than 5 countries silently accumulating bitcoins by mining and buying off the market the reason would be for them to try and manage the ecosystem of cryptocurrencies. Price going up and up was the main developer's purpose. We need to stop giving away our bitcoins for cheap prices such as $1000 or even $1400 and should build a wall around $1800 by the end of this month. Any source? Now I know China has been accused of keeping the price of their fiat down, so this leads me to a question.
Why would china want to keep the price of btc at or below 1000? And I'm not asking for answers around curbing the use of it, because I don't believe they want that. I'm asking for genuine thoughts on how it would benefit china to keep the price low. What long term strategy would they have? Because we all know china doesn't just do things because they want to. They've probably had meeting after meeting on how best to optimize bitcoin for their benefit.
First how sure are we that China wants to keep the price of BTC at or below $1,000? As I think of it China don't care about BTC, as the way you wanted to hear it, they only want to make sure that these exchanges that had been loose for some years to follow what the rule stated with regards to AML and KYC stuff. Going deep sleep, and then wake up with an explosion called ICOB. That's what I'm visualizing  That would be great, if ever ICOB explode and go up as high as 2x the ICO price, those early buyer (ehem) will surely celebrate  . The bitcoin price can still skyrocket in my opinion. It can skyrocket if there are some kind of demand that will drive it up to some point of price or if someone manipulates it to reach a certain target then dump. Right now bitcoin's price is around 1,008 US Dollars according to preev and who knows tomorrow or some weeks after this day, the price might be more than it or less only time can tell the price in the future.
Indeed, Bitcoin economy is still young and yet meet the saturation of its market. Aside from that, if we take the ratio of Bitcoin to world population and the current user or supporter of Bitcoin, there is no way for bitcoin but to go up in price. |

But even though Satoshi will be the richest direct man on Earth, there is people far more rich that he will be at this point. But for me we will not pass 10 000$, as I see already great difficulties for us to reach 5000$ in a decade. It is early to say that Bitcoin will not pass $10,000 if we consider Bitcoin being use for more than centuries. If we can assume that every decade, Bitcoin will increase by $1000 then we can see Bitcoin reaching $10,000 in 100 years. But well as I say, it is still early to say it will or will not reach that price since we cannot tell what future brings. |

Even though ETF not approved by SEC, does not mean the end of bitcoin, just another obstacle. But, bitcoiners still hoping they will accept it, hopefully. I agree Bitcoin is doing fine atm at 1000 USD, and if ever ETF is approved, we can see another rally and spike of price. Its not impossible for countries to create their own alts and I am sure research would have been going in other to make that a reality because that is the only viable means to stop the spread the popularity of bitcoin no matter how they try, the world is changing towards crypto currency and any government that does not want to be seen archaic needs to move in that direction and makes such facilities available for its citizens.
Well actually aside from possibility, it is easier for a country to create their own blockchain based currency. The have the resources and the money. Aside from that they also have talented people that can study how blockchain works. And they can even create an instant economy for that own altcoin. |
