2061  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: December 09, 2016, 09:27:59 AM
It's difficult to really say if bitcoin has competition as no altcoin has really made it a point to compete with or against bitcoin.

If anything, fiat is bitcoin's competition... or rather bitcoin was made as an alternative, and therefore competition for accepted use as opposed to regular accepted fiat.

Alts just strengthen each other by research and knowledge.

Precisely, bitcoin may have lots of competitors but the fact that bitcoin leading miles away from the supposed to be competitors, it seems that there is no competition at all.  But there is some thing that bitcoin is struggling.  And that is to be credited by the government as a currency. and  bitcoin is the last in this area.
2062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is being told to people in High Schools about Bitcoin on: December 09, 2016, 05:38:02 AM
In my country, kids in High Schools were not taught about cryptocurrency, they are more focused on academics, history, Mathematics, Science, Home Economics, Carpentry etc.  Not a single word about bitcoins.  Even teachers are unaware of bitcoin. If someone known it, they think it is a scam or some multi level marketing product.

Is this intentional to ruin the project coming from a guy who is not part of the team?
the wallet creator should address this issue asap did the dev tested the wallet to allow it to post here
wallet is very important once people see this as something that will compromise their credentials they give this
project a bad reputation.

You have been a supporter of luckchain [BASH] project, you should know that the same false positive is present in their wallet.  Rather than posting into conclusion you should have dig deeper on the situation.  I can see your concern but the guy just created a hardcoded node in the wallet, fyi, he is also the first one to realease the wallet out of the source code if you give time back reading.

YES I am also a supporter of Bash but Bash wallets are 100% clean and it is officially coming from the dev

I can use the wallet he provided why not but how about those newbies who do not know about false positives

LOL you had been a Hero member and yet you don't know how to properly scan a window qt file?  I'll guide you if you want.

First you need to unzip  the file.
Then after unzipping the file, you need to test the actual wallet qt , the one with exe, then you you will get what I am saying.
2064  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Mga kabayan anong unang naisip niyo sa Bitcoin noong first time niyong nalaman on: December 07, 2016, 05:55:09 PM

2065  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC at $1,000 by Christmas? on: December 07, 2016, 05:37:29 PM
By looking at current condition, I dont think $1k will happen by Christmas. Since it's going down again now. I was hoping too but, less likely now.
1000$ this christmas wont happen .as we are looking at the price right now it seems like bitcoin has a hard time to reach 800$. So it hapoens that the price goes down ,cause it cant pass the 800$ marked.
That's really hard to happen, we must realistic now bitcoin price is quite high for reached $900 isn't easy it will take many time.

I agree, there will be a big resistance to reach $1000.  A week had been cut out of Dec. and yet price is still playing at $730- $760.  I doubt it can even reach $850 at the end of this year.  It is a holiday season, people are spending their hard earned money to share the love of Christmas, I am expecting a dump before Christmas.

2067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: what is definition gambling in your mind? on: December 07, 2016, 05:01:11 PM
For me gambling is anything that involves betting or wagering, to win a price or stake, that purely relies on chance or luck.

Basically, everyone know that gambling is a game, No one can doubt on it. Secondly, if you are asking is it investment?
So i think it is investment only for casino's owner, I mean who made casino or online gambling sites than definitely they are earning from them, and it is investment for them, But for us, who are playing gambling with our money. It is not investment or us, because we are playing gambling like a game.

Casino house is an investment, but there is other investment in gambling that requires not only money but time and experience.  This is learning strategies of the game like poker or blackjack.
2068  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you Still believe in Fiat? on: December 06, 2016, 09:29:58 PM
Well considering the situation, i do believe in fiat even though there are lots of negative things that is said in here.  The fact that we are using it and have value to buy goods in the store, only means fiat exist and still existing .  It has value and has a power to buy anything that have price in it.  I don't know what is the others people reason to not believe in Fiat.
2069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people around you think about Bitcoin ? on: December 06, 2016, 09:19:30 PM
People around me are ignorant of bitcoin.  They don't know that such thing exist.  People are in my area are simply do their everyday lives by playing poker games and at the same time gossiping about peoples lives.  It is sad that when something important you want to share to them, they just look at you like an alien and does not take interest rather keep continue on what they do.

2072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ICOBID OFFICIAL ICO SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN on: November 30, 2016, 05:59:31 AM
BitFinnese I'm looking to apply very soon on this campaign but I have few issue about the campaign rules.

Are the rates weekly or for the whole ICO period? I read the whole ANN thread but couldn't find the ICO timeline.

Thank you...

I read it and find that it is planning to start on Dec. 1.  it said that it is a 4 week campaign so ICO ends at 28.  Seems a good New Year for investors if this project is successful.

@ OP I wonder if you will consider Newbie Account to this campaign , I wish to  join but seems that Jr. Member is the lowest Rank that will be accepted in this campaign.
2073  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: November 30, 2016, 05:50:10 AM
I think there are games that enable them to earn bitcoin while learning something about bitcoin.  I have come across a site where the you can earn some satoshi while answering the basic questions about bitcoin.  There is also some games that enable kids to play it and earn bitcoin.  I think the name of the game is minecraft.  It will bring the creativity out of kids and get satoshi in every unique block created.
2074  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many times have you've been scammed? on: November 30, 2016, 05:42:29 AM
No doubt scammers are here in bitcoin world, but it is not difficult to handle them, only use your mind well and do the right work in investment. Actually, many chances of scammers are here in investment instead of trading and gambling. That's why i am not giving my amount to an other hand, because i am doing my own investment.

You are right, scammers are everywhere and they are waiting for the right time to scam people.  They may pretend to be honest and will get your trust and once they have it, they will scam you.  There are several red tag member here with lots of positive feedback from regular members but then was tagged by DT with scamming. How could this be possible?
2075  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: November 22, 2016, 06:05:23 PM

2076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Should people wait for confirmation of Bitcoin? on: November 22, 2016, 05:49:31 PM
From what i read previously, it is due to avoid something called double spend, even i am not sure how is it work, but its something like in the
olden days where ATM in Location A and Location B is not centralized and sync, so people can withdraw their initial deposit twice.

I think its something like that if i am not mistaken

it's not only about double spend or 51% attack, there are other attacsk that can be done at 4 or 5 confirmations and lower, i think it was called the finney attack in his memory, so to avoid this bitcoin has 6 depth confirmation

I have read mostly the 51% attack but i think this is the first time I read about this finney attack.   So I googled it and see this result. This is kinda tricky because it does not need 51% of the hashrate to do the attack.  For explanation you can read this.  http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/4942/what-is-a-finney-attack

Some of the notable description on that link

Code:

The Finney attack is named after Hal Finney, who suggested it in this comment. (Hal happens to be the first recipient of a Bitcoin
transaction, and  AFAICT the first person to comment on Bitcoin.)

It is a double spending attack with the following features:

It only works if the merchant accepts unconfirmed transactions.
It still works, however, if the merchant waits a few seconds to verify that everyone in the network agrees he was paid.
It requires the attacker to be mining and controlling the content of his blocks; however, he can in theory do this with any hashrate,
in particular significantly less than 50% of the network hashrate

2077  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Is Bitcoin Trading and Why It's risky? on: November 16, 2016, 05:30:04 PM
I think bitcoin trading is trading bitcoin with different pairs like Bitcoin to US dollar , Bitcoin to Euro or bitcoin to other altcoins.  It is risky because we never predict the price and the probability that the price of bitcoin get lower the moment we bought it.  In its pair, like for example we bought an altcoin and we did not realized that the altcoin we bought is a scamcoin, then the price go down next to worthless and now we are bagholding a worthless altcoin.  In this scenario, our fund is lost due to the wrong decision we made in trading.
2078  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC keep rise again... on: November 16, 2016, 05:23:55 PM
It is expected that BTC will star to rise after some dip.  In fact there is this current hype of Bitcoin about the implementation of its update, though it has been released but it is not activated yet.  Let's just wait when it is activated, then probably we can see a bump in price of bitcoin in this coming months.
2079  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Is Bitcoin Trading and Why It's risky? on: November 13, 2016, 07:49:09 PM
Bitcoin trading is buying bitcoin and selling it for profit.  It is risky because of the uncertainty of the event that will happen in bitcoin and the possible decline in price from the first day we bought bitcoin. Though I can say trading bitcoin with its risk is one kind of a gamble traders like us have to face and hope that price will increase than decrease so we can sell our holdings with profit.
2080  Economy / Economics / Re: The Future of Money? on: October 24, 2016, 06:51:59 PM
Gold unlike crypto-currencies can't go down in price to zero in the worst case it is just a valuable technical metal will remain...separate gold is not difficult, if you know how to do it and also have the necessary expensive equipment. In practice, however, this process is not available to the common man. At the same time, anyone can divide a bitcoin into pieces up to eight decimal digits each. If necessary, the division could go on and on. Moreover, this operation is capable of any computer system. Such things happen automatically during each transaction. In addition, you can create any amount of free wallets to store your money in small fractions of bitcoins. There may be hundreds or thousands — there are no restrictions.

Yes it is true that gold is always a very important technical metal because of it being  better conductor on most of metals available in this planet.  It is also proven a symbol of greatness and wellness in life.  Gold will never be obsolete and will never goes down to worthlessness.
