One of the reasons old school credit cards are so expensive to use is you get protection. You have recourse in case the product or service you paid for isn't as advertised. You have insurance. Crypto offers none of that, once you pay your money is gone forever. Does anyone honestly think this will ever be mainstream? you are delusional if so.
I'd also like to add that yes, 2+ years ago btc was a great investment. The last year it's been a terrible one however, a few early adopters got rich off a bunch of late buyers. I just don't see a rise happening again, joining the bears.

Think as bitcoin as "cash", it is just as unsafe and anonymous.
The whole banking system is a wrapper for cash money in my opinion, it is therefore added value (yes banks gamble with your money Wink).

There is no reason for companies(or banks) to add value to the base-system we call bitcoin.
Adding value can have negative consequences add cost, reduce anonymity, centralize, etc. in exchange for insurance, storage or protection.

I believe most bitcoin users would hate to see the centralization of bitcoin services giving governments control over it.
However if you look at cash money which is also decentralized you see a clear value in using a bank, credit/debit card due to protection and ease of use.

I think we will start to see these services pop up. Maybe some clever minds will make it easy to use, give protection but keep it decentralized and anonymous.

Looking at the 3d moving averages we are really close to a crossover. MA is touching and EMA is close Smiley
Can´t wait for it to pass so we officially enter the reign of bulls  Cool

Why god why do people bother with this. "On what arbitrary date will this arbitrary number be reached?" Do you really think you are going to get the answer?

You will get many answers on this forum. Pick the one that suits you most Cheesy

1847  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin is severely undervalued on: December 07, 2014, 10:12:03 PM
I dont like all these what it should be valued analysis. Its valued exactly what it is being traded for.

I partially agree, the price is what the price is. A true honest market should reflect the true price.

That said if there was no manipulation the price would be higher.
I think bitcoin is therfore undervalued and believe the price is being held down by whales so whales can profit.

Apart from that, bitcoin has potential and that potential has not been reached. This makes it undervalued if one looks at the future of bitcoin.
1848  Economy / Speculation / Re: Interest in Bitcoin is declining on: December 06, 2014, 06:51:15 PM

Once there are only 1M btc left to be minted and it's near impossible to mine them, the price will rise.

but that would make mining obsolete aswell (according to the logic of the proponents of high inflation for the sake of network security)

You can not have high inflation and a high price for it at the same time - shouldn't be hard to understand.

Mining will someday be obsolete, people will process transactions for fees and bitcoin will have hit full maturity. Bitcoin value can then only go up.

About high price and inflation:
"
In economics, inflation is a sustained increase in the general price level of goods and services in an economy over a period of time.[1] When the general price level rises, each unit of currency buys fewer goods and services. Consequently, inflation reflects a reduction in the purchasing power per unit of money – a loss of real value in the medium of exchange and unit of account within the economy.[2][3] A chief measure of price inflation is the inflation rate, the annualized percentage change in a general price index (normally the consumer price index) over time.[4]
"
-- wikipedia --

This means bitcoin will deflate since the pricelevel for goods goes down and your buying capabilities increase.

BTC1 will now buy you an iphone
BTC1 will then buy you an house

Let me help with a few details:

Mining will never be obsolete, it is what makes the Bitcoin network go and secures it.
You're conflating (ugh, retarded word, but Bitcoiners love it!) price inflation with monetary base inflation.
Bitcoin's yearly monetary base inflation (what the local libers refer to as "making money out of thin air") is over 10%, YTD.
Bitcoin's yearly price inflation is ~65%, YTD.

No need to thank me, my pleasure Smiley

Thank you anyways, I'm no economogist Tongue

Yes mining is what makes the network go but since your doing it for transaction fees and not for minting blocks, can you still call it mining?

1851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin do another 10x price increase? on: December 06, 2014, 04:19:43 PM

We are need open-source exchange for that.

Such exchange that anyone could install on light hosting.

An idea too stupid even by this speculation forum standards. You surely didn't put any thought into it before typing did you. Yes, what we need is more amateurish exchanges run by people with no banking ties and no security experience, that is the way to strengthen faith in bitcoin... right....

Can you print me here, real - number of alt-coins pools, with free web-registration form?

Can't.

Why?

Because pool - open-source, even web-face for pool is open-source and highly differently modified by everyone. There is p2pool - too open source.

Source of Bitcoin? Yes, here it is.

Who than too stupid? Where is open-source exchange, dear?

A p2p pool can be run on a simple computer.
A stock exchange requires a slightly more expensive infrastructure. One you cannot afford.

A trading platform, exchange requires a license to run when it is considered a stock or currency (which Bitcoin officially is depending on the country).
Why the hell do you think the Winklevoss twins are lawyering there way towards an ETF.

Yes let's allow every unlicensed halfwit run an exchange and rob you blind *cough* gox *cough* Roll Eyes
1852  Economy / Speculation / Re: Interest in Bitcoin is declining on: December 05, 2014, 11:00:39 PM
Interest is not declining, its that there are not enough new participants with enough new money to hold up the prices.

+1

ASIC production is at an ATH so coins are being minted faster than expected pushing down the price.
Once Bitcoin halves or ASICs hit their technology limits price will shoot up.
It's a waiting game now....

All coin halving's are priced in... You think everyone isn't counting on 2016 to raise the price??? It's sad!

Everyone is counting on increased difficulty and decreased reward this is an ongoing process.
If your statement is correct how did the bitcoin price ever go up from $1.

Once there are only 1M btc left to be minted and it's near impossible to mine them, the price will rise. This is a certain fact in the oncomming 10 years.
1853  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2014 is NOT the year of bitcoin, sorry on: December 05, 2014, 10:56:18 PM
DANGIT!  I hate being sheep.   Cry

Can't help it, I bought into the hype and can't seem to quit it.  BTC Addicted...

What is funny is some people actually see a future for 2015! LOL!! The blockchain technology will be stolen & on goes the technological revolution.
You guys are trying to prove the iPhone6 will still be around in 5 years and it's not true no matter how you put it

Yes let's all give up on all new technology it will all be superseded!!!  Roll Eyes

Why screw over bitcoin if it can be your salvation

Here is a US government rescue plan with bitcoin  Cheesy
1. Buy bitcoin with government tax-payer money until you have a million BTC or so.
2. The price will inevitably rise but who fucking cares since you're buying them with tax money screwing over all tax payers.
3. When the price is high and you're government is loaded with bitcoin do a big order of physical gold from a foreign country. This will dump BTC back into the system indirectly screwing foreign countries out of their gold.
4. Wait for everyone to panic the shit out of themselves because some gold vendor is dumping the BTC for fiat. Everyone will hate these foreign gold vendors and not the government.
5. Go to 1 and rinse and repeat until your federal reserve is full of shiny bars of gold.

1857  Economy / Speculation / Re: Central Bank Speculative Attack on: December 03, 2014, 07:19:10 PM
Ok you mean banks buying bitcoin and spending it in losing trades.....

Price goes sky high due to a constant fiat injection to aquire bitcoin at high prices.
Then throw away the bitcoins to some lucky fucks putting in a low buy order then buy more with new fiat.
Trading will become more easy due to high volatility.

IMO this means an unstable sideways movement or we all smart up and ask high prices.
The US economy cannot sustain a fiat throw away and bitcoin(or foreign fiat) cannot sustain such a radical adoption (if US $ goes to hell).

This is not plausible IMO.  Smiley

1859  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you plan to get out of bitcoin? on: December 02, 2014, 09:53:43 PM
I am out since month. who would hold or buy btc these still inflated prices?

If the price starts skyrocketing and keeps on skyrocketing for long enough even you might be tempted to buy.

That's when you're too late Smiley
1860  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEW ATH BY END OF JULY & $5000 PER BITCOIN BY END OF YEAR on: December 01, 2014, 07:21:10 PM
Is there any chance that this could still happen? Please guys, I need to make money on this investment.

Don't we all  Cool
