18421  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fatal error in ‘wedding party’ drone strike prompts UN condemnation on: December 27, 2013, 04:15:00 PM

[...]

The UN has already criticized the US drone program in the October interim report “on the use of remotely piloted aircraft in counter-terrorism operations,” authored by Special Rapporteur Ben Emmerson.

The report, the final version of which is due in 2014, argues the number of civilians killed in anti-terrorist drone operations is higher than publicly acknowledged, and condemns the US for lack of transparency over the issue.

"The Special Rapporteur does not accept that considerations of national security justify withholding statistical and basic methodological data of this kind," Emmerson wrote in the report.

Also in October, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International simultaneously released reports on the use of drones in Yemen and Pakistan, both questioning the legitimacy of the strikes.

“Amnesty International is seriously concerned that these and other strikes have resulted in unlawful killings that may constitute extrajudicial executions or war crimes,” the AI report reads.

“President Obama says the US is doing its utmost to protect civilians from harm in these strikes. Yet in the six cases we examined, at least two were a clear violation of the laws of war,” said Humans Rights Watch Senior Researcher, Letta Tayler.

The US then reacted by saying it did nothing illegal.

"To the extent these reports claim that the US has acted contrary to international law, we would strongly disagree,” said White House spokesman, Jay Carney. "The administration has repeatedly emphasized the extraordinary care that we take to make sure counterterrorism actions are in accordance with all applicable law."

The United States has stepped up drone strikes in Yemen, as part of its crackdown on Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), believed to be the terrorist network’s main stronghold.

I don't understand how the US government can continue committing war crimes with impunity. It seems it's one rule for the west and and another for the east.

18423  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why posts are deleted by the system from the browser's cache ? on: December 27, 2013, 04:03:57 PM
Hello,

Any time I am trying to post this forum I get a number of posts deleted by a system before one post is accepted.
Is it done by system's bug or by default ?

Do I really have to wait 6 minutes to post a message ?
If so, just keep my post saved as a draft to not write it again from the scratch.

If you know a nice solutions to this problem please let me know.

How to discover the time my of last post and count 360 secs ?
==

An Error Has Occurred!
The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later.

Just make sure you wait the full 6 minutes before you try post anything again, otherwise the lock resets back to zero. This time limit is only for newbs and quickly lowers the more activity you get.

She was one of those women who keep on arguing even when they know they're wrong and have been proven to be wrong. Cannot stand it when people do that.

I've know women who do that. I've never dated one personally, but have mates who have. I honestly don't know why they put up with it.

It's called pussy.

And not being cockblocked.

I think that's what makes me different from most guys. I wouldn’t put up with that shit. If a woman started an argument or went in a huff for no good reason I'd just walk away. The moment you let somebody get their own way, they'll use it to their advantage by doing it in the future (and then cock blocking you). How about you turn the tables and pussy block them? Haha.

Hi. Sigmund Freud here. Sounds like you might have some mummy issues. I'd suggest stop smoking weed and watching complex alternative reality thrillers before you go to bed. I can provide further psychoanalysis, but this shit isn't free.

had to search to find this thread to find out the newbie rules. it can be solved with a small warning message in profile section.

It tells you before you sign up. I guess like most people just skim past this info  Cheesy.

So I have to make five posts and be active for 4 hours?

One post of several sentences and wait 4 hours. I think you have to be actively browsing for the 4 hours to add up, so just being logged in wont count.
18428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin a whole new world! on: December 27, 2013, 03:44:28 PM
no I wouldn't consider BTC is whole new world. It is however  a very interesting variation on currency and the decentralised nature of it gives hope its value never being corrupted or perverted as that there will never be a Federal Reserve associated with it.

I would consider cryptos a whole new world of currency. There's really been nothing like it before, or nothing that ever even remotely grabbed peoples' attention.

Signed up to contact a pool owner.
Can't contact him in any other way.
It's so annoying you have to wait for such a long time before I can actually send him a PM.
This stuff also promotes spam, as you must send a minimum of 5 messages, ugh.

If you want me to post your details in a thread just let me know, but you only have to wait 4 hours or so, so it's not a massive issue.

18434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What makes the value of a coin? on: December 27, 2013, 02:58:41 PM
Well, the answer is same for the question : What makes the gold value ? It has no major use, but still people accepted it as a valuable metal. So coins has value because people accept it as a value, and can be generated only with work. The answer for the other question, the difference between the prices are mostly because of the difficulty to gain one, and the popularity of the coin.

Gold has intrinsic value for several reasons. It's a precious metal for a start, and can be used to make things like jewellery and teeth etc.

As much as I disagree, selling accounts is not prohibited.

Do you have any better reasons than stating your own opinion about account sale being against forum rules or not?

Here are mine.

Is breaking the forum rules against the forum rules? There are clearly stated rules for new accounts - posting limits. By using a bought account these rules are being explicitly circumvented.

Do you remember that bitcointalk was recently hit by a Man-in-the-middle attack and there was a warning on the frontpage about accounts potentially being stollen? And just a few days later there's this slick guy, posting from a new account, selling accounts for bitcoin? What will stop people from thinking that these are stolen accounts on sale? Feel free to call this a conspiracy, but how long will it take till people start throwing accusations, because this starts to look very much like the inputs.io "hack". If mods want to keep the spirits calm, I'd expect them to want to keep the account management process as transparent as possible and kick the speculators out of here. Or not. Up to them, their move.

PS: that thread seems to be deleted already.

I have stated my reasons before in the following threads: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=367586.0 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=325155.0
18437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Several questions on: December 27, 2013, 02:33:31 PM
Hello everyone,

Yesterday I have bought some Dogecoins via Cryptsy.
I would like to have them for a long term, so I would like to take them offline.
I installed dogecoin-qt and withdrawed all my dogecoins to the address in dogecoin-qt.
Is this ment by an "offline wallet"?

When my pc is stolen, I don't want to lose my dogecoins. So there is a "backup wallet" option. I can save a .dat file. When I save that file on an USB stick, is it save then? How can I import it in another pc?

No, it's not an offline wallet. Make sure you back up the wallet.dat file. If you keep the wallet.dat file on a usb stick, then that would become an offline wallet.

18439  Other / Meta / Re: Is there a way to remove bogus trust ratings? on: December 27, 2013, 02:14:02 PM
PM him. It's possible that if you provide a reasoned explanation of why Dogecoin isn't pre-mined or at least engage him in a civil manner he'll reconsider. I don't find 4chan or SA members usually very civil, however, so I'd be VERY impressed if this trust rating could be removed.

Well, I'll give it a shot.

I removed the rating. I find the way the coin was mined unfair but i guess freemarket...

The rules seem to be published so i guess people can use it at their own risk.

Happy holidays.

See, sometimes people can work out their differences.
