Where on the pool site does it support what you just said?
Are you an idiot ?
....as an example: WOULD YOU DONATE SUPPORT, TIME OR MONEY TO A CHILDREN'S CHARITY IF THE MONEY/PROCEEDS WERE BEING SENT TO WAGE WAR IN IRAQ INSTEAD OF HELPING CHILDREN ?

When I donate to a charity, I make sure they guarantee/describe what the money will be used for. If I later find out they broke that guarantee, I could take action, either demanding a refund, suing in court, etc.

Miners that got abused by Luke have all the right to leave him if he stole some hours of their mining profit but they should look into their contract. I doubt there is any guarantee to get actual bitcoins for mining at Eligius.

Merged mining.  No wasted hashes.

It does say that for every share you provide, you get paid a certain amount of BTC.  It doesn't say he has to use it for Bitcoin or anything else.  He could pay you in bitcoins and use the hashes for solidcoin if he wanted.
NO, no he couldn't, as users would simply object on principal alone....that they were being forced to mine/support a project that they chose NOT to, or have no say in.

Where on the pool site does it support what you just said?  He makes no guarantees as to what the hashes were used for.

When namecoin merged mining first came around and it was enabled on Eligius, the miners demanded a share of the namecoins because they had mined it.  I'm surprised that they haven't demanded a share of the coiledcoins.  Paying those coins out would effectively kill part of luke's kill effort.

Yeah I would like to hear the reasoning as to why it was deleted.  Seems to be an abuse of mod power to me.  I still have a copy of the first page in my browser window.
Could you please PM me my first post, if you don't mind ?

PM it to me too Smiley
1885  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 04:36:35 PM
It is not up to you, me or anyone else to decide which is legit, if people want to mine and trade them they can. Or that was the case until this asshole took it upon himself to decide for everyone else... And as to your just posted comment for someone who disagrees with him on most things you sure have your nose stuck firmly up his ass on this one.

It IS up to each of us to decide which is legit and which to use.  Anyone that mines with a pool inherently gives the pool operator permission to use his/her hashes as the pool op wants.  Each miner has to trust that the pool op is doing what he/she has announced and nothing more/less.  If a miner feels the pool operator has abused that position of trust/acted in bad faith, the miner is free to mine somewhere else.

Just because I disagree with you, does not mean I am a "brown noser."

Me too.
The only problem with that is, you are another LukeJr-cronie-d-bag.....you can't benefit from both sides of the fence.

Actually, if you actually knew me, you'd know that I disagree with Luke about most things.  Ask around, most people in #bitcoin-otc/#eligius will confirm it.  Just because I happen to disagree with you doesn't mean I'm a Luke cronie.  Calling me a d-bag is just juvenile.

only real coins right now are BTC and NMC.

Seems to be so as Saint Luke has issued the edict..

Post a poll here in the forums that asks users to check which of the alt coins are 'legit' or whatever you want to call them.
1888  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 04:10:22 PM

I am going to begin offering to pay people out of my own pocket to mine on Deepbit....just to watch everyone squirm.

It still boggles my mind that you are defending Luke's actions.....WTF is wrong with you ? seriously ?

OK. I want to be paid 0.00006 per share then I will mine wherever you want Smiley

Me too.
1889  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 03:53:44 PM
Remember that hypocrisy when someone does it to bitcoin.

This is one of the primary reasons I do not mine on DeepBit.

Right now, it seems highly unfeasible for a new/unknown 3rd party to come in overtake the whole of the bitcoin network.  It is still possible however, but I think the community would turn on more miners to prevent that from happening.
1890  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [349 GH] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, hop OK, BTC+NMC merged! on: January 06, 2012, 03:51:42 PM
I find it hard to believe that if he honestly feels that he did nothing wrong, why did he remove all personal information from his personal websites including his family blog etc ?

If people were making threats against my actions, whether they were right or wrong, I would remove my personal information from my websites as well.  If you really feel he did something wrong/illegal, please call up law enforcement.

Here are the facts as I see them:

1) Mining for blocks isn't against the rules of bitcoin/its clones.
2) There are no rules regarding how much hash power you may contribute to any of the bitcoin/clone networks.
3) There are no rules mandating which transactions miners have to include in the blocks they mine.
4) As far as I know, he didn't reassign any coins that were mined before he started mining.
5) Luke never made fake transactions to take coins that weren't his.
6) Luke generated a bunch of blocks that became the longest chain and orphaned shorter chains.

Please let me know if any of those 6 facts are wrong.

Edit: and if those 6 facts are indeed correct, then how is what he did wrong?

1) correct
2) correct
3) correct
4) he is "reassigning" all new mined blocks by orphaning them and rejecting them from what I understand - this is mallicious and his intent even in a 51% scenario other blocks can go into the chain, with what he is doing now they can't
5) can't verify
6) See 4

It all boils down to the fact that these chains should live and die by their own merit not have asshats attacking them in childish vendetta wars.  So far none of the alts have truly "lived" very long as compared to bitcoin and are not getting adoption widely as of yet, but each one brings us closer to a better variant of bitcoin... maybe that's why Bitcoin zealots are getting afraid?

CoiledCoin as I see it was an effort to see OP_Eval in action but due to the misuse of eligius hash power it has been set back possibly months or more.

First, thank you for actually responding with something besides

Praise Jebus !

Now on to the discussion:

4) It was my understanding he was simply mining new blocks that built off his previous blocks.  Essentially there was a race condition.. chain1 which included blocks from eligius and chain2 which included blocks from everywhere else.  He/Eligius wasn't reassigning anything, the clients were simply using the chain selection algorithm that picks the longest/most difficult chain which happens to be chain1.  As a result, any work on chain2 keeps getting orphaned.  To combat it, more blocks would need to be found that build on chain2 to overcome chain1's length.

5) What I meant is that if you had sent coins to address1 in block10, eligius started mining in block11.  Essentially, all coin transactions were preserved, only the coin generation coins were lost because the original assigning blocks were orphaned.

6) I think I described this in 4.

I appreciate the alt coins, they show reasons why bitcoin has done well and also illustrate where it can be improved.  I do not like them when all they do is change some vars, uncomment/comment out some code and release.  That isn't innovation.

I realize that part of the point of coiledcoin was to use op_eval, but I also believe there are ongoing discussions to roll this out to testnet, which means setting up a brand new network isn't needed/warranted.

Luke, How does your users at Eligius pool feel about you misusing their hash power to vandalize and steal from an alt chain?

how was it stealing?  did he take coins from you?

Nope, but people have lost electricity/computer life and there was BTC trading taking place already.  But that doesn't make it right that it wasn't me hurt directly.

so what actually happened, blocks were orphaned?  Can't that happen with any block chain?

Everyone that mines in this pool just gave up their hashing power unknowingly for luke to use to vandalize another person's project.

Due to the knot in luke's panties, he decided it was his god given right to miss use the pool's hashing power to bring down a new alt coin that was just introduced today.

Nice one luke ! Chalk one up for you and God.

Perhaps he used merged mining, in which case no hashes were wasted at all.

sorry, misread.

I'll use escrow services from now on. btcrow or thrucoin until escrow is built-in in the client.

There's also #bitcoin-escrow for the #bitcoin-otc users.  The fees there are negotiable and pretty reasonable.
1896  Economy / Lending / Re: Requesting 250 btc loan on: January 05, 2012, 08:30:04 PM
Well feel free to send me a msg on my ebay and i'll happily reply. I'm new to these boards so of course my post count is low. I can provide personal info as well, i'm not trying to scam anybody.

It seems you were scamming.
1897  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Looking for lenders on: January 05, 2012, 03:17:59 PM
storage availability going up again?

i guess some people can't resist selling their coins for $6 each Cheesy

those people realize it is more profitable to sell their BTC than to let it sit and earn 1% a day.

Unless the people that let it sit think the price is going to go higher than $6, in which case, it is stupid to sell at $6. Smiley

you're not taking that big of a risk with me, I'm not going to scam for $100.

Do you realize that this is exactly what most scammers say?  I think you'll find that a 3% markup on a paypal transaction isn't worth most people's time.

A cumulative rating of 4 on the -otc isn't much of anything, especially considering you haven't proven that it is even you.  Same for heatware.

if i were scamming, do you think i'd care about whether or not i pay $15 for a very small transaction, or $3?

common sense.

also, i checked my hotmail and I don't have any email requesting identity verification.

If you wanna go 'common sense', then 'common sense' dictates to not trade with someone with very little ratings for very little profit.
