1221  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Discussion of Leaked FBI Report on Bitcoin- April 2012 on: May 09, 2012, 04:54:24 AM
If you look at the original, they alternate between capitalizing and not capitalizing bitcoin.  Review what was actually said about MtGox and then contemplate what information you would have included about them had you written the report.
See below:
Quote
(U//FOUO) This assessment will not address malicious actors outside of the cyber underground,
such as traditional organized crime groups, extremist groups, or child predators. Throughout the
paper, the term “Bitcoin,” when capitalized, refers to both the open source software used to
create the virtual currency and the P2P network formed as a result; “bitcoin” using lower case
refers to the virtual currency that is digitally traded between users.

Though they don't hold to this convention in every single case, I think it was just bad proofing on their part.  Can't make it perfect, I guess.  But I partially suspect multiple writers simply because of slight variations like this (and varied spacing in the footnote references) between the earlier and later parts of the document.

None of you who are calling fake have even explained what possible motive a person could have to fake a document like this?  Why on earth would someone spend hundreds of hours to go through the complexity and detail that is shown in this document?

Likely, the language that "comes from the forum" is because the writer(s) of the document spent a good deal of time on the forum for research.  They picked up on the lingo, such as the "stabilization" of bitcoin, etc, because that is what is talked about.  They have at least 2 endnotes that reference threads in the forum as well.

Ok, great.  Now how about my second point?

1225  Economy / Securities / Re: Announcing GPUMoney, “Monetize Your Gaming!” GPUMoney.com on: May 08, 2012, 09:33:30 PM
At this time we are going to take pre IPO investments of 200BTC in the form of BTC only. Pre IPO investors will see a discount to all future stocks sold. These shares will be nonvoting but will reflect a proportional percentage of all revenues the company generates.

In the second round of funding we are only offering 100,000 of a total 1,000,000 gpumoney shares. 900,000 will be reserved for the initial investors and the developers. Pre IPO shares will be sold at .2 BTC each.

Please feel free to ask any questions. A this time, we would not like to disclose our very aggressive marketing strategy or the specific details of the coding but will try to answer your questions to the best of our ability.

100,000 shares at .2 BTC each? So that's 20,000BTC... so $100,000. Since that's 1/10th of the company... You're giving yourself a valuation of 1 million without a single customer yet? Do you even have a prototype yet?

Way to threadshit using a PR account.

Someone needs to OCR this ASAP

In the other thread someone said they are willing to retype it (or OCR and correct it).  Maybe we can crowdfund this.  Get 10 people who want a readable copy to pledge 2? BTC.

Sure, I'm in for 2 BTC.

Wanna set up the thread?

For the record, I've already got OCR going on it and its having good results. I'll post when its done and I've fixed the errors.

1230  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: imsaguy's Enormously Interesting Extended Investment Opportunity on: May 08, 2012, 05:27:08 AM
After talking with my largest investors, I've decided that if I push anyone out before they've been in for >= 10 months, I'll reimburse their early months as if they had been at 6% all along (excluding the compounding, sorry).   I think that's the most fair for everyone but still allows me to buyout shares as I have larger positive income.

That being said, if anyone's interested, there's about 200 in availability.  I've already mentioned it to a few people, so if it oversubscribes, expect them back.  Thanks.  Gone.
1231  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] PPT Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: May 07, 2012, 11:40:13 PM
I find it interesting that there are complaints about the type of auction.  If I was going to complain, I would complain that the bids are public.  This complaint woud be based on the fact that treasury bill bids are private and such a functionality would get rid of market manipulation.

Makes sense.  I'm leery of more secrecy in the bitcoin community though.  Everyone wants full disclosure for everyone else's business.  I can only imagine they'd be on a witch hunt here before long.

1233  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: May 05, 2012, 03:12:14 PM
Sorry to kill the pyramid, but i said i was done lol

So, i put in a purchase yesterday (this time to an approved pool) and it has not gone through

first i figured it was in the queue, but a few times leased work as gone over to private and mine hasn't gone through

i think its possible that it doesn't show up because i have had a refund on an invalid purchase before, and it is still sitting in unfinished, so the next one i set up just doesn't compute or something

maybe there is just a huge queue, in which case, great!

The last I know, the guys tried to balance loads across pools.  So if everyone is purchasing against say deepbit, they won't let them all run at once.  It might just be you picked a popular pool so you've got to wait a bit longer.

Why don't you go back to 'counting to 74 bazillion with pictures'.....and 'Watch' that instead.

Posting is how you get a thread to appear on your "new replies" page.

It's not ideal, we all agree, and we all look forward to new forum software eventually.

Confirmed.
1235  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco / Shakaru / Collections / Debt on: May 04, 2012, 07:52:47 PM
I don't know how close everyone's been watching but as of late, it seems there is someone mining on the collection address.  Its collecting about .1-.2 every couple of hours, so while it isn't much individually, over a month its going to add up to a little something.  If the person(s)  that are contributing to the address are watching, please set the pool to lump the payments into slightly larger amounts.  When it comes time to send, all of this change is gonna get pricey because of transaction fees.

Only one verification is needed, but the moderators that watch this thread aren't always online...

We just wanted to be upfront about it and basically have a unanimous response. Smiley
1237  Economy / Goods / Re: Unused BFL Single, Revision 3, 200BTC delivered in USA on: May 04, 2012, 06:05:04 PM
Do you still have the BFL?

This post was a gag but I (the poster who sold the other Single) do have one more Single.  That said, there are some caveats:

  • It's a Rev 3 board, but runs hot enough that it shipped with an external fan
  • I've been running it since I acquired it, averaging 818-828Mh/s as reported by cgminer.
  • I opened it up to add an external fan speed controller, so the external housing is scratched a little bit, but not nearly as bad as gig's first Single

It would ship FOB 94608 in the USA.

How much is this in solidcoins?
1238  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] *NEW* PPT.C Pirate Pass Through Bonds on: May 04, 2012, 06:00:01 PM
That doesn't really answer my question, but thanks Smiley

California time == PDT, so yes, 7PM California time.  Tongue

Thanks!  I wasn't familiar with PDT.

oh, my bad.  Daylight savings time changes the abbreviations.  PST becomes PDT. CST -> CDT, etc.
1239  Economy / Lending / Re: Can I put your BTC in my Pirate account ? I'll pay you 20% on: May 04, 2012, 05:57:38 PM
As you guys know more then me about the pirate, may I ask, why is he paying so much in interest?
People here will run to lend him money even at 10%. It doesn't make business sense to me.

I personally think that he runs a high priced Coyote Service, seeing as he is in Texas....and it seems to have the best guarded border in the South.

He most likely uses the Bitcoins to fund a Border crossing (drinks, snacks, USA shirts & hats, bribes, transportation etc) then once paid the enormous fee for his service from his Mexi-Friends, he passes along the profits to the rest of us.

Again, this is just speculation.

Keep an eye on him. If he changes his nick to 'Coyoteat40' you will know for sure.

Interstate 40 does run through Texas.  Maybe that's the dropoff point?
