Have you asked them which law in the EU requires a facial scan and etc? I tried to read some news, the latest one seems to be the Markets in Crypto-assets regulation (MiCA) but it is unclear how it affects exchange and its KYC process. On the surface it sounds more like it is intended to increase the awareness of retail traders about crypto trading risk, forcing exchanges to make education or other similar stuff (at least that's how I interpreted it), not making exchange require more personal info to register.

I just realized that I could easily move the entire bitcoin balance to a different wallet whose seed was generated on a different cold machine to be completely safe and then return the computer in question (after factory reset of course).
Definitely the better choice, as long as the device you used is safe. While the blockchain is a bit busy right now, it is definitely worth paying more than 1 sat to keep your coins safe. Or you can also wait a bit seeing that you have the option to wait before returning the computer.

Looks like another fine addition to the "Bitcoin dies" articles. Looking forward to more articles in the next few years, at least until the next halving comes. Not sure if they time it or not but articles like this always come in the bear market, probably to push retail out as soon as possible. I'm pretty sure when they can control Bitcoin or crypto in general they will change the narrative again.

Why did you hold your assets there in the first place? To make it easier to trade, or do you participate in their savings program or something similar? If it's the former, I suggest moving your funds regularly, it is better to pay for more transaction fees to keep your money safe instead of praying everything will go well when you log out. If it's the latter, try to look for alternatives such as staking with a smart contract, mining on your own, and so on. While it might not be the best for you, at least you can calculate the pros and cons in detail. But remember that everything has its risk, even if it does not involve centralized exchange. Assume the worst if possible.

Even if they hired another 10 auditors I'd never fully trust them. I'll use them as long as they can do their job but I'll not leave my funds there for too long. Don't be fooled by them. Withdraw regularly, don't store your money there if the amount is too large for your risk profile. Try P2P if you are not day trading so you don't have to expose your funds to a third party. Bisq is quite decent if you're doing DCA. Anyone who plans to hold their crypto for at least a few months should never put it on exchange IMO.

Did you get that PDF from an e-mail? I've seen a lot of phishing e-mails on my throwaway emails for the last few days. You should never open an attached file from an e-mail if the sender is unknown to you (these e-mails are usually gibberish and should be easy to spot unless you set your e-mail app to automatically download them). Some news reported that these PDF contains a keylogger and other stuff, so Electrum is likely not at fault.
My condolences, try to reinstall your OS and probably wipe your device just in case the malware is still there.

The Electrum guide linked by charles might be able to help you get a better picture of how to do it (with pics and stuff like that). I do recommend you to read it. Try to practice it a bit if you're not used to this.
Buying an HW wallet is also a good idea even if it was not discounted imo, but if you already have another device that can run Electrum and you only plan to use Bitcoin, there's no need to rush it. CMIIW.

Why would you need a debit card linked to your wallet anyway, you can pay just fine as long as the store support cryptocurrency. If you go to a store that doesn't support crypto then you should not use a crypto wallet to pay in the first place. Just carry some cash around or use a dedicated debit card so you don't risk your wallet being exposed to another party unintentionally.

Looks like you're not the first victim. There have been comments saying the owner has been doing this since 2020. I saw that he made some transactions related to other exchange addresses, might be worth trying contacting them and telling your story or reporting it to the police. Though I wouldn't be too hopeful about it.
Hopefully, you learn from this, try to check out the latest wallet software or ask here if you've been away for too long.

I think all of this should be discussed in the altcoin section since OP also specifically mentions Bitcoin mining. Regardless, the market will find equilibrium sooner or later so OP doesn't have to worry about it. I've seen a lot of doomposting about Bitcoin mining (and how it will impact its network) since months ago with or less the same question. OP might want to search about it if he is worried about Bitcoin.

For example, even on pinksale.finance, this service costs $750 and requires verification of the owner's identity. If we consider the company solidproof.io, then the cost of their services for verifying project owners starts at $1,500. Of course, it is worth noting that the cost of these services includes the initial promotion of the project. In addition, there are aggregators that provide such services and value their reputation. For example, stakingrewards.com
So basically you want to launch a project, and need a launchpad to raise funds, but you don't want to do KYC because you need to pay those platforms? Even if there was another reason that you can't prove that the project developer is real, building trust is hard if all you have is an empty promise. Build an MVP at the very least, make it usable, and post it on the forum or other communities to build your name. The landscape is different from the ICO boom phase where people happily throw money on anonymous teams because they love memes. EDIT: Looks like OP already start selling his project with the usual 15% return per year ads.

So what is the best, buy nvme 1 tera to blockchain or buy nvme 128 or 256 gb just for OS, my laptop default has 1tb HDD
I'd go with leaving the blockchain data on the HDD and buying a 1 TB SSD for the OS. 128 or 256 is probably not enough if you use your laptop for more than just running a node. Also, SSD won't die just because you don't turn it on, most of the time it is caused by too much writing. You can learn more if you search about SSD write cycle.

Looks like I need to stop using it. I never use / trade altcoin anyway these days, so it doesn't really bother me. I just hope interaction with a hardware wallet will be easier in the future so retail users will use hardware wallets directly instead of connecting to a wallet like MetaMask. Privacy is not an equal exchange to convenience.

Buying and using good Internet Security softwares. Don't try to save a little bit money and use free softwares that have some limited features for you. It's worse if you use cracked softwares that can contain hazardous elements inside.
Are you talking about those anti-virus/malware apps with online protection or something similar? While this is not a bad idea, we can also stop relying on such software if the purpose is just to protect ourselves from visiting or downloading a fake app. Most wallets or crypto software usually have a hash that you can verify to check if the files are legit or not, some anti-virus even flagged them as software instead (false positive). By all means, buy them if you can and want to do it, but don't stress over them, and just learn to be more cautious instead if you can't.
