1921  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: labcoin lawsuit on: December 09, 2015, 10:02:20 PM
No one cares anymore...

That is not fully correct. But most gave up it seems. Some are still reading.

I now started taking it in my own hands a bit since i felt like the other lcsh-members either vanished or had no time or wanted to wait on a status we know already will not yield results. So far i try to get in contact with the relevant persons that can push things forward and i'm pretty angry that it came to this. I really can't understand it.

It's not very easy... me trying to speak and understand spoken english is no fun. Cheesy Cheesy But i will try to get it moving on a bit. I hope i can since iam not the one who has the contract with the lawyer... and so on. *sigh*

Did someone try this? http://www.getonebit.com/ It looks like you can use bitcoin direcly, like you would use a credit card, to pay in every store that accepts credit cards. It sounds great though reality will proof if it's great.
1923  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Rechnungen mit Bitcoin bezahlen on: December 09, 2015, 08:28:11 PM

Hey that looks pretty cool. I wonder if it will work with every visa and mastercard in every country.

I like the idea to advertise the idea as a video in the header. Though they should have come to the point faster.
1924  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: December 09, 2015, 07:26:30 AM
for investment bitcoin is better than cash

It is maybe less complicated but when you have sent bitcoins to a scammy investment once then you will know that it has it's disadvantages with it's anonymity, no chargeback and such.

But yes, bitcoin is the better choice when you have a real investment with capable persons in charge. Smiley

Just as notification, Xotika.tv contacted me some time ago to speak about me handling the escrow part for this signature campaign. I agreed to do this.

This is only a short headsup for now so you guys know that this campaign will be escrowed. Smiley

The escrow address will be the following address mentioned in the signature message.

In case signed messages has to be verified, then its the fastest to visit http://wallet-2sx53n.sakurity.com/#verify. Then you can proove fast if a signature, given by me or the seller, is correct and so you know that the address is controlled by the one giving the signature.

Code:

1928  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: December 03, 2015, 06:26:23 PM
First time I hear of a problem. Server is still running smoothly as far as I can tell. Which Electrum version are you using?

2.5.2 portable. The wallet in question is pretty old, with thousands of addresses and transactions. There is no limit that could be hit?

And since force download did not work, can it somehow happen that empty labels are uploaded so that downloading does have no effect? Otherwise i wonder how the server can't find labels for it anymore.
1929  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Electrum - Lightweight Bitcoin Client on: December 03, 2015, 11:46:04 AM
Is there a problem with Label Sync? I had one, my biggest, electrum wallet today having a lot of holes in the labels of transactions. I tried force download but nothing changed. Restart didn't help either.

Is there a limit of labels? I have a couple of wallets storing labels on the same account.

I hope i did not lose too many labels, will try to recover some, with force upload, from backed up previous wallet versions.

Normally i had lost labels only when i had no label sync on. But i have it enabled since a long time and it prevented that problem. So this is the first time.
1930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Law Enforcement and Regulators Agree: Bitcoin Not Useful for Terrorists on: December 02, 2015, 02:59:15 AM
In the aftermath of the Paris attack on November 13, the European Union (EU) is looking to crack down on bitcoin with the hope of preventing the financing of future attacks. Regulators and advocacy groups agree, though, that kneejerk regulation is not what is needed; rather, it’s an increase in education.

“There’s nothing wrong with Bitcoin, it just means it’s another part of our financial system,” said Dana Syracuse, managing director and a member in the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Regulatory Compliance Practice at K2 Intelligence.

“As time goes on, Bitcoin’s place is going to grow," Syracuse said. "One of the things that I talk about is, if you look at the story of bitcoin and the kind of enforcement and prosecutorial action, it shows the evolution and growth of the space.”

“Bitcoin is not the problem, and further restrictions on it are not the solution. Criminals and terrorists are using all sorts of technology to try to hide their activities over the Internet, but those who turn to bitcoin as part of that effort are making a big mistake,” said Jason Weinstein, director of the Blockchain Alliance.

Regulation is not the problem; it is education

Sounds good. Now let's hope journalists and politicians read what they wrote here. So that stupid articles, headlines and law initiatives are becoming less and less.
1931  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Guy Who Tipped Thousands of "Dollars" w ChangeTip Gets Banned, Tells His Story on: December 02, 2015, 02:44:49 AM
That's simply saddening. I thought changetip is a solid company but something like that happening really sheds a bad light on them. Their explaination for the ban is stupid. They act like he is the error who lets them look bad, in fact it's their own inability to act that lets them look bad.

From: http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/bitcoin-blog/mad-man-who-used-changetip-to-send-thousands-of-dollars-to-celebrities-shares-his-secret

Something interesting happened on Twitter earlier this week. Internet marketer and Bitcoin promoter Adam Guerbuez started to make some BIG tips  to well known people using the ChangeTip service, giving Eminem $2,500 and Flavor Flav $1,500:

https://twitter.com/ChangeTip/status/668882567332888576

https://twitter.com/ChangeTip/status/668881139658915840

He tossed Mt. GOX scammer Mark Karpeles some bones too!

https://twitter.com/ChangeTip/status/668875238264823808

He also made some political donations! Dropping $500 to Justin Trudeau:

https://twitter.com/ChangeTip/status/668792817708208128

He even dropped a massive $800 tip on the possible future president of the United States Donald Trump:

https://twitter.com/ChangeTip/status/668794339317800960

You get the point. He went on a tipping spree giving what appeared to be thousands of dollars to well known individuals, and it had many people turning their heads and putting their begging hands out:

https://twitter.com/lumpbets/status/668807053713022977

https://twitter.com/CryptoChrisG/status/668813821511729155

https://twitter.com/CryptoTrap/status/668853751382302721

https://twitter.com/Bitcoinloopven/status/668923126340829184

Some people even got a little mad about the recipients of these tips!

https://twitter.com/orweinberger/status/669631377109852160

So this is pretty insane right? Guy tips famous people thousands of dollars and ChangeTip seems to be processing it and it's all legit.

However it turns out that despite fooling most people, the tips were not exactly what they appeared to be. You've probably figured out now that something's not quite right, and that a little exploit of sorts was found in ChangeTip's system.

We were interested in exactly how, so we caught up with Adam Guerbuez who granted us an exclusive interview:

Bitcoin Futures Guide: So how did you figure out this little trick on ChangeTip where you sent people what appeared to be thousands of dollars, causing even the official @Changetip bot on twitter to clearly confirm the high dollar amounts being sent?

Adam Guerbuez: Well I have always had a passion for testing and exploring the vulnerablities within different websites. With ChangeTip, I realised that they did not have a word filter list on their "custom moniker" feature, that allows any user to assign a monetary value to any word. The user then simply can tip others while using that word and the reciepient of the tip gets the amount that you assigned to it.

For example: you can send someone a tip for a "cup of coffee" and the person will get a couple of dollars if you assign $2 to that moniker. So I decided to try to assign a value to the word "Dollar", however I never expected that the people who built ChangeTip would have overlooked adding that word to the filtered word list. Not only was "Dollar" not on their list, but there was no list at all, any words are allowed and this just seemed very insecure.

So I brought it up to the company officials early in 2015 after I made some tweets using custom monikers like "Dollar" and others I created. The response? I was asked to not use such custom monikers and I just assumed that they were going to add the most obvious ones to a filtered wordlist at that point.

Fast forward many months later, November 23rd I had been trying to close a large promotional contract with a new client who asked me to show him what type of method I could deploy on Twitter to turn heads worldwide. I replied "Give me five minutes and I will show you." So I logged into my Changetip account and was going to create a controversial custom moniker and use it to send tips to many high ranking celebrities and government officials that was sure to turn heads.

By chance I tried to use "Dollar" thinking that ChangeTip had more than eight months to fix the issue, but to my ultimate surprise, I was able to send tips out with it and so I did. The rest is history.

BFG: So how did ChangeTip react this time?

AG: Well, I recieved an email from Nick Sullivan of ChangeTip after I had sent out all the tweets. He had said that the tips I was sending caused several team members to demand that my account be banned because my actions are hurting the ChangeTip brand.

Then a second email followed where they refrenced the tip that I sent to @magicaltux (Mark Karpeles) stating the following:

We’re rolling forward with the ban - as your behavior is a violation of this section of our terms of service: Is harmful, fraudulent, deceptive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable; Jeopardizes the security of your ChangeTip account or anyone else’s (such as allowing someone else to log in to the Services as you)

Clearly they were angry that I may have offended the former owner of MtGOX when I tipped him for his prison canteen.

BFG: Do you think it was reasonable that they banned you for this?

AG: I am not going to debate their ruleset for using their platform, they run it as they see fit. They have still not fixed the custom moniker issue and I have seen several other people copying what I did now. Clearly they do not see fit to address that simple issue and banning my account from their service was more convienient.

End of interview.

So there you have it folks. ChangeTip had almost a whole year to fix an obvious insecurity in their system and they didn't. If they are willing to ban people for using a certain moniker to make tips, why don't they filter what words can be used? Why don't they add these checks in place instead of banning users?

We think that people who explore systems and find holes should be rewarded for finding problems, not punished. Adam had his fun but for now he's no longer allowed to use ChangeTip

Bitcoin Futures Blog prefers to use ProTip, an opensource decentralised tipping solution. We don't believe that people should rely on VC-funded centralised solutions. It is much more in the spirit of bitcoin to empower individuals to do as they want.

Have you found any interesting flaws in the systems of Bitcoin services? Contact us and we may feature you with an interview to explain it too!
1932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS is not satisfied with bitcoin, they made their own currency on: December 02, 2015, 02:29:14 AM
The thing is, would somebody buy their coins?
Because many people don't trust them(because they are evil), then who want to store their coins?

Unfortunately there are enough fans of IS, i can ensure you even in your near surroundings.

I think it might lead to draw away suspicion from bitcoin. Though cryptocurrencies as a whole might become attackable.
1933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No mass adoption because of the One-size-fits-all bitcoin on: December 02, 2015, 02:03:26 AM
People are allergic to any "fork action" of bitcoin. That is why XT failed so miserably, I am not sure if that proposed BIP of yours is not conservative enough for bitcoin purists.
Also I doubt that any changes that will push bitcoin into even more anonymous and private state will ever happen, it will be quite opposite route imo.

I see that not a fee people feared the spread fear about a fork but XT failed because Hearn and his stupid ideas. If it would have not been because of that i'm sure they would find more and more supporters.
1934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No mass adoption because of the One-size-fits-all bitcoin on: December 02, 2015, 02:01:39 AM
There is no such killer application for bitcoin. Let's face it, Bitcoin's benefits over fiat are currently not big enough to justify switching to it.

I agree. Bitcoin has only some advantages but it is no killer app. It might be difference once governments decide to seize funds or other things happen. But at the moment advantages are rare.

The worse that the blocksize is not raised because when the block is full and constantly a chunk of legit transactions can not get confirmed then bitcoin will become slow, expensive and unreliable on top. I mean who will use a currency where transactions maybe, maybe not, go through?
1935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the bitcoin blockchain analysis companies a thread to the bitcoins privacy? on: December 02, 2015, 01:52:21 AM
no.

say i advertised to the world that i own 1Fr4nky0n3BlahBlahBlahBlahBlah and i moved funds to address A,B,C,D, by just looking at the blockchain itself

no one knows if i bought a coffee at starbucks using address B or a stick of desktop ram.

They might know when starbucks is using a wallet like exchanges are using. Exchanges wallets adresses can be identified relatively easy. Then when someone knows that the address belongs to starbucks then they know you bought there.

no one knows if address A is still me, or a third party i swapped with.

Depends on if the address you sent to is public, because it is the address of a shareholder in a project and an address didivends are sent too. Or it can be identified as belonging to a websites wallet.

no one knows if address B's private key is stored on my PC at home, or a smartphone.

No one needs to know. It's bad enough when they know it's yours. It's like letting them check your bank statements.

no one knows if address C is using multibit, blockchain.info, trezor or bitcoin-core.

Irrelevant too.

no one knows any transaction to address D happened face to face, via IRC or on an exchange

Not interesting.

so bitcoins blockchain analyzers cant deem much information via blockchain itself. they still need outside information to link it.
much like paper money needs CCTV footage from ATM's and shops security camera's. followed by face recognition and government databases like drivers licences and passports, to be able to link money to a person..
they cant just follow the bank notes serial numbers to learn everything, it requires other outside information and investigations.

so once you move funds out of an exchange that knows your life story. put the funds into a third address and suddenly they dont know if the third address is you, another exchange, a different person, a retailer, ..

I would suggest you check out walletexplorer.com. Use a public address of yours and then try to follow the leads, google addresses and so on. I'm pretty sure you will be surprised how much someone can tell about you.
1936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the bitcoin blockchain analysis companies a thread to the bitcoins privacy? on: December 02, 2015, 01:46:45 AM
Of course it's a risk. Though in reality the risk is the user. Everyone needs to be cautious with how he treats his bitcoin addresses. Especially change addresses turn out to be a great tool to connect all the bitcoin addresses in your wallet. Then let's say you have a public address, then one can find out a lot of the other addresses you own. He might check the transactions and find that you paid bitcoins to a sex webcam site or you were stupid enough to invest in a scam project.

One has to be really cautious.

Most noobs in mining does not know that there is a thing called difficulty which leads to making mining more and more unprofitable.

when you want to check if you will get your investment back (when the miners arrive not later) then check out this website: http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/
1938  Economy / Services / Re: I will teach you do make a fair weekly wage by selling Virtual Credit Cards! on: December 02, 2015, 12:56:06 AM
I have an unverified alt paypal account, how much using the vcc to verify it will cost?

This sounds like a good case to proove the claims of the seller. When he can provide such vcc and the paypal can get verified then it shows that he at least knows what he speaks about and he might be able to provide what he promises.
1939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: December 02, 2015, 12:10:19 AM
My concern is not about future whale diggers, my concern is:
"Why would future users of Clam, buy Clams, knowing that the protocol can change
if majority holders don't like something about the protocol, at that time?"
My concern is future users/investors.

Exactly that is what i thought too. Though i think that danger is now avoided isn't it? Price stabilizes and the fork is dead or am i missing something?

You're missing that this CLAMour "vote on changes" concept was pushed at the very same time as all the talk about changing the rules to cut digging, by some of the same people who: 1. Were also talking about cutting digging, and 2. Very likely hold a large number of CLAMs giving them a large influence over the vote. So if you think the danger of undermining long term stability and trust with rule changes made for short term economic reasons is entirely avoided, I can't entirely share your optimism. But I hope you are right, and you may be right.

I do agree with the sentiment that some have expressed that We Survived the Great Digging Panic of 2015 and with the right response that can make the coin stronger and more resilient. But then you still have some people approaching it more from a FUD perspective ("Okay, but what about the next whale digger?! zOMG!!"), sadly.

In any case, if you can't trust on the fundamental rules of a cryptocurrency then confidence in that altcoin is lost quite quickly since you are at mercy of the whales of that altcoin. If whales think that is a good idea then i think it might be a bad awakening for them.
1940  Economy / Speculation / Re: Illuminati End Game Started --- effects on BTC on: December 02, 2015, 12:07:12 AM
Bitcoin could EASILY be re-designed so 1 ruling party has 100% control over it..

IMO this will be the method used to gain complete control of the worlds finances..

No RFD chips.. just crypto... only cryptos that are gov controlled will be legal.

And you would use such a bitcoin then? If not then you would simply stay with the old blockchain. I wonder how you plan on moving everyone to use the corrupt blockchain.

Every person gets assigned their personal set of bitcoin addresses. Same goes to businesses. Those addresses are all monitored by the big brother. If you receive bitcoins from an address that is not whitelisted then you are obliged to give those coins away to your government because that money could be dirty. Sending coins to an address that is not whitelisted would be illegal. Using other than whitelisted addresses would also be illegal.

After that there will be different price for whitelisted coins than for all the other coins in circulation. Exchanges are only allowed to operate with whitelisted coins. Coins that are not whitelisted will be forced to black markets only. LEs will be motivated to hunt down black markets because the coins they confiscate will be whitelisted after the auction.

Even when government would want to give fixed addresses, they can't force you to use it. They would not even know if you use bitcoin and send and receive them. Since they don't know the addresses are yours.

So sure, you can let them give you the addresses but i doubt bitcoins would think of their blockchain as the real bitcoin.
