1921  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - ~90 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 11:11:48 PM
i am not sure about that anymore.

but if the pool is very small and have very few hashrate left when the hoppers leave it could be a problem.

now i like the idea to just deface them. a prop pool could make a stats page showing how much people gained from hopping (eg got less in long rounds and more in short ones). and then let your users decide if its worth (without names of course. maybe even the hashrate should be obfuscated - so one with 5GH leaving (regulary) at 0.4 is as bad as one with 100MH).

but dont forget: if hoppers are on your pool and you have a fast round: they did also their work. its just a problem if most miners are hoppers and leave at 0.4 - so there maybe is just not enough hashrate left (but anyway: who would join a pool with an hashrate that low? - that counts even for hoppers).

otherwise the estimated reward of all other miners will raise up.
1922  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - ~90 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 04:18:30 PM
i think all that counts is the percentage of users jumping.

if there are more than > 10% a long block will even take longer, on a VERY long block it shouldnt really matter as your reward get higher over time.

and: pool hoppers do make it more possible for very short rounds - as there is more hashing power

so: at the moment i am unsure if they do any harm at all....
1923  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - ~90 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 01:05:10 PM
what do you think about just print a list of users (maybe without names) which profits most in a "pool hopping"-way?

means: calculate how much they get in fast rounds and how much they get in slow rounds..."free" it of their hashrate (sorry.. dont know how to say that in english correctly).

so all users can see who and how much they gained from hopping
 - then it would be possible to vote them out (or do additional steps if it is just to much)

if you hand me your db scheme (not the data) i may come up with a nice statement (if you use nosql, just give me that schema)

like your pool too! keep going!
just have a small problem with firefox 5: can't change my payout address (switched temporary to ie and it worked)
1924  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - [4 BTC Bonus] 70 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 12:16:36 PM
there are two possibilites (when no block is found):
1) just take the shares to the next day
2) make it for two, three etc. days

i dont know whats best, i just dont want that every pool switches to pps/maxpps (...) systems. i left btcguild as they are too big, i left minecoin for their switch: i just want to stay with a pool a while. tired of switching.

and (for me) pool selection is an emotional decision (after fees, stales and stableness Smiley.
1925  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - [4 BTC Bonus] 70 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 12:00:23 PM
that's why i suggested a delay?
i really like the idea to go prop on a day basis.

e.g. (blocksperday * 50) / (sharesperday) = your payout for that day
obvious: it has a huge stats delay. but who of you sits in front of your pc and watch estimated rewards the hole day? i cant believe that....
1926  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - [4 BTC Bonus] 70 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 11:56:03 AM
sorry my fault.

i wanted to say: please stick with prop.

i just don't like other systems. thats one of the reasons i use this bitpit (just left minecoin for their switch to another payout system).
1927  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: bit pit - [4 BTC Bonus] 70 GH/s (LP, Prop, SSL, API, 0% fee, Almost 0% Stales!) on: July 13, 2011, 11:45:06 AM
i don't like pool hoppers too.

but PLEASE don't use score / maxpps or anything else - just stick with pps.

i don't mine 24/7 so for me it's just an additional variance.

if you really think you have to do something about it i suggest "blind mining" and just show stats from previous day.

so the calculation would simple be: (blocksperday*50) / (sharesperday)
1928  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 12, 2011, 03:32:23 PM
it just adds an additional variance.

as i said: as this pool does not have that much hashing power (it's a shame... i really like this pool) it will took very long to even out.

it could be that i am lucky... but who knows?
1929  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Mybitcoin is a scam! on: July 11, 2011, 07:25:21 PM
i think it could be possible to proof the following through blockexplorer:

 - transfer btc to mybitcoin
 - ip adress of sender
 - mybitcoin did keep the btc
 - or ip adress of recipient

(but: i think mybitcoin has to help us here by providing the adresses and the guarantee its not moving btc internal).

i dont see any way how to proof that somebody cannot access the money (and if he provides proof mybitcoin would give them to him anyway [IF they are phishy and trying to continue])

with ip adresses and datetime it would - at least for a lawyer - be possible to determine if it was the same person.

an idea: force every user to enter at least one trust bitcoin address. (shown in public). if there are any complaints for a specific account just use this address to send the money to.

(i dont like that idea very much, as the main reason for mybitcoin is not having an own client)
1930  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Mybitcoin is a scam! on: July 11, 2011, 06:32:26 PM
+1

BUT is there any way to provide proof?

i am just curios: i liked mybitcoin (concept and all). but i am really confused right now.

perhaps we can use this thread for something useful: how to proof somebody has lost bitcoins there (and how to proof that he didn't lost anything)
1931  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 11, 2011, 05:57:15 PM
but it's unfair as i am powering off my pc when i am at work.
and you don't have enough hash rate to even that out for me.

what about the opposite i described here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=23774.msg298141#msg298141

just calc everthing once per day. shares per day to blocks per day.
i dont think there are many people sitting in front of their machines to watch the satoshi's flowing in....

edit: i don't use irc, just this forum. didn't even know you where changing something before i read the previos post (and after that you pool intro message)
1932  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 11, 2011, 05:39:31 PM
and i am leaving too....
just want a prop system (they can also be cheat prof)
1933  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~620Gh/s] Bitcoins.lc - No invalid blocks, Instant payout, EU, IPv6, 0% fee, LP on: July 11, 2011, 05:28:14 PM
EDIT: He has reactivated the account. so all seems fine

--- old (now irrelevant) complains ---

ok: He just said: "Whenever somebody acts in a way i don't like i ban him and he won't get his funds. - and i don't have time to send him the money" (which is fine... no need to unban)

huh.. maybe i have to be careful what to say here... puhhh my username @ this pool is different.. he won't find me Smiley
1934  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~620Gh/s] Bitcoins.lc - No invalid blocks, Instant payout, EU, IPv6, 0% fee, LP on: July 11, 2011, 03:20:41 PM
i don't mine at multiclone/multipool but thea are right.

your website did NOT say anything against pool hopping. you just banned them because you want to (which is fine).

but keeping the btc is theft.

get yourself an anti-poolhopping policy or (better) delay stats to prevent it. everthing else is just theft.
1935  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: TripleMining is a scam, and is flooding the forum with referral links on: July 08, 2011, 08:40:56 PM
wrong sub-forum Smiley
1936  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: TripleMining is a scam, and is flooding the forum with referral links on: July 08, 2011, 08:26:47 PM
cent 1: you say its possible to get three times as much as with other pools... and you also say that all people who actually believes this are dumb.

cent 2: by using referrals you encourage your users to spam the forums (as they get more if they do that: ok, just see my sig to see, that i also use referealls)

just my two cents

i don't use products which are getting to much ads. that counts for real world and also for bitcoin.. e.g. tradehill: i will NEVER use them.. just way to much spam (not only from them, just people who wants that referrer bonus).

^^ i am NOT saysing tradehill or tm are scam, but they did all they could to not beeing used by me
1937  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2700 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 08, 2011, 04:58:54 PM
i switched all workers back to btcguild. all my de.btcguild.com rewards all counted.

nice work!

my donation gets back to 2.5 on sunday.

(still hoping for some pool hopping prevention and port 80 mining)

IMHO (Warning: My PERSONAL opinion):
it's not your job to prevent botnets from accessing you. it's the pc owners fault (maybe isp too).
but: that does not count to pool hoppers as they are "stealing" coins from other miners.
1938  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2700 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 08, 2011, 11:44:37 AM
i submitted my shares just a few hours ago, after all of the "all server is up" messages...
during ddos i switched to mineco.in.

i don't blame you tearex. i just want everybody to know whats going on. i am sure eletheria will clear this (as soon as he sees this) and i am also pretty sure, that all missed shares will be counted.

he has build up my trust...
1939  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2700 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 08, 2011, 11:21:13 AM
i have the same problem.
and i switched my reward from 2.5 to 0% (because of ddos, will switch it back).

but: shares in block stats has NOTHING todo with donations.

and they show me "none" - which means i did not get any shares... but i know i have submitted them - and they were shown as estimated reward (before round end)
1940  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2700 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more on: July 08, 2011, 10:13:38 AM
hi,

just got back to your pool and it just found a block.
BUT in the block statistics i don't see any of my shares? and my earned value shows zero..

whats this?

as i was very late in this round i dont have much shares (maybe around ten - dont really remember).

just want to know if its safe and i can point my other workers there too.

i am using de.btcguild.com. i did see "estimated reward" around 0.0045.... (of course, before last round ends (last round refers to block 135283)
