21  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance alternatives on: January 28, 2024, 07:04:54 AM
Thanks for everyone that said that I shouldn't do the exchange storing thing and sorry that this is the only time that I was able to reply, got a lot of shit going on and books to catch up but just so you know, I don't have a lot of bitcoins that I fear losing it in an exchange and no I haven't been scammed by an exchange, Binance has been a pretty good exchange to me, the convenience that it gives to me whenever I want to sell my bitcoin is why I'm storing my bitcoins there, I don't know if you all know my philosophy but I've posted about it a long time ago so I can't find it or I'm just lazy (that's for you to decide) but I don't really care too much about money or material things, I always try not to put myself in position where I'm stressed out on things that involves things. But for the sake of others that might take this post the wrong way, don't do what I do when it comes to storing your bitcoin, listen to the pros.
22  Other / Meta / Re: Change username? on: January 21, 2024, 02:48:12 PM
Take it from me - you'll be Trolled (with a capital "T") by any two bit keyboard warrior with a grudge if they are able to link your online profile names.

Enjoy anonymity.
That's what I thought too, same username for all the platforms tend to end up as someone's downfall when it comes to discovering who's behind that account. If I recall correctly there's a video in TikTok that does this thing where her audiences will try and challenge her to track them down, it's really scary but at the same time amazing with how they work with a little resources and without any help from a computer program or a service.
23  Other / Meta / Re: Question about images. on: January 21, 2024, 01:28:02 PM
If only it were that simple, imgur has really thrown a wrench at us it seems blocking this image traffic! Talkimg has been good although one thing I will say is that I always hate having to resize these to less than 3mg which takes away image quality.
We have to use whatever's available to us, unless a lot of us want to do something about what Imgur did with Bitcointalk then we'll have to make do with TalkImg which I think is much better because it's got the code already at your disposal, you just have to tweak the size yourself. And when it comes to images here, as long as it's legible and a lot of people can read what you want others to see then they don't really care about the quality.
24  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards on: January 18, 2024, 01:39:27 PM
A little update or a big one depends on who's reading, I would be rescinding my reservation for the translation, something came up with my irl work and I can't focus with forum stuff anymore, the career shift coincided with me getting removed from a long term campaign so I'll be giving that translation opportunity to someone that's got the talent and the time, I'm sorry for a long inconvenience, I feel bad backing out on this.  Sad
25  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine African countries using Bitcoin to pay salaries, on: January 17, 2024, 05:07:05 PM
That would be really cool but I'm worried about the volatility of bitcoin because that can spell disaster for people that's reliant on that income, imagine if it's payday and that day was also matched or coinciding with the dump in prices, you basically worked for less because of that and you end up with a lower take home pay which would be bad for the family if you're sustaining one. I think in an ideal world, we want this to work but the volatility that bitcoin have, it's difficult to say that it's going to work.
26  Economy / Economics / Re: How is it possible to say there is no money in the bank on: January 13, 2024, 01:48:37 PM
It's because it's all electronic now, you don't really need that much money to prove that you've got money, just a piece of paper and a computer that stores your information and you're good to go, that's how banks are working ever since and it's called fractional banking, if I recall, the money that they receive from customers are quickly circulated or something like that and that they have only a limited amount of physical cash daily, I might be wrong or that's only how small banks or bank branches operate.
27  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: January 13, 2024, 12:42:11 PM
if you just want the value of money not to fall from hyperinflation buy gold. real gold bars issued by state-owned enterprises where you live. then it can withstand inflation or the fall of your assets or wealth. because the price of gold increases always above the value of inflation.
and above gold you can buy bitcoin but must understand bitcoin price.
The problem with gold is that it's definitely going to be confiscated by the government, remember the time of Great Depression and the stock market was plummetting? The government confiscated all the gold that every individual owns, it's a far fetch possibility but it can definitely happen when something really bad happens to the economy of a country. In a case of hyperinflation right now, I do think that it's better to invest in bitcoin rather than gold.
28  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the world soon become tired of the US dollar? on: January 12, 2024, 01:34:25 PM
The only way that i can see USD becomes weak is when they are no longer the world power, but as long as they are still the world power to decide on what to do in the world and how to handle issues of other countries, the USD remains the most used currency for international trade because all most all the countries in the world that is rich is connected with doing business in the US. The BRICS wouldn't be able to have one currency that will be able to superior over USD, only if they can join force against US to take over world power which will be impossible. US is connected to most countries for business in one o two ways.
What you're talking about is nearly impossible to happen and even if BRICS were to band together because the influence that US have on other countries is just too deeply rooted that it's hard to get them out even if a lot of big countries are going to try because we're so used to USD as a means of exchange, it's difficult for us to let it go, to me that's the simple answer why the world won't get tired of using USD.
29  Economy / Economics / Re: How to stay poor! on: January 10, 2024, 01:44:38 PM
I trust you all get the sarcasm as conveyed.
Nice touch at the end so people that have a hard time with sarcasm get it anyway   Grin.

I like to add another one too and that's being too shy when it comes to asking for a payraise or asking for a loan for your business, being shy or shameful when there's no reason to be like that is a big bane that someone will cause them to not progress in life, being shy is the worse because you're already overthinking stuff when it's unlikely that it's going to happen until you try it. Being shy and too close to yourself is going to make someone poor. Sometimes there's doors of opportunities that are closed and all it takes for them to open is to just knock.
30  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycotting iSrAEl's product? think again. on: January 09, 2024, 03:16:33 PM
I have never understood boycotting "company" because you hate a "nation", you can boycott a nation, that would make sense, if you hate a nation then do not buy products from that nation directly, but boycotting a company?

What did the company ever do to you or anyone else. Like McDonalds for example, they are responsible for making burgers, that's literally their job, by not buying any burgers from them then you are not really helping any cause at all, or starbucks, if you are not drinking coffee from them then it makes no sense neither, it's just not hurting any nation, you think Isreal will stop because you didn't buy a burger or a cup of coffee? That never made sense to me at all. By the way, don't do that anyway, burgers are bad for you, and too much coffee is terrible for your health as well, boycott aside, you shouldn't get them anyway.
That's probably because you're not socially aware about the fact that these companies are making a lot of money and that they can always get away with things as long as they've got that, now if you cut that off, you'll be seeing them going down and their influence dwindling. Also, try reading history books for a change in perspective, you come out as a bootlicker for these rich billionaires that don't give a fuck about you and everyone of us that's not in their circle, stop defending these brands, the unemployment is temporary and they'll learn to know better once they feel the heat of messing with the people that they're profiting off, you're kind of people is the reason why we're still getting exploited by these companies, you're happy with the bare minimum.
31  Economy / Economics / Re: First time? A company suing because people aren't buying its products!!! on: January 04, 2024, 03:57:24 PM
You should also add that Starbucks is also experiencing billions of dollars of loss because they're being exposed for bad employers and supporting Israel which isn't loved by anyone that's seeing the stories right now about the Israel's eradication of Palestine. They're getting desperate too, they keep on running a lot of ads and hiring people that are fitting a stereotypical criteria so they can help with their campaign that they're not excluding any ethnicity or race in their shops, they even do desperate promotions like free hot chocolate at a certain day of the week and considering how they're salvaging the brand, didn't know that McDonald's would take the top spot right in terms of desperation for money.

34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I dodge KYC using the his medium. on: December 28, 2023, 02:46:39 PM
If you want to go with that plan, you're going to need a lot of patience because if this will work, it's going to be a painstaking process since you need to avoid the withdrawal pattern detection of that website which would be a hard thing to do because they're on the lookout for this kind of people anyway so they're definitely well secured if someone where to do this and with that in mind, I think that it's best if you just do the KYC, that's probably the easiest way for you.
35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should security be employed in local bet shop? on: December 28, 2023, 12:54:45 PM
For those persons who prefer gambling in local bet shops instead of gambling online. I know that most times some persons carry huge sums of money to come to gamble and I understand that if it was a local casino there would be securities. Now, in the local bet shop, why are there no securities? I know a local bet shop close to where I reside. There are no securities there and there are people who act strange and mentally unstable there. They could cause fights, noise, and cheat. So for other persons to feel safe betting there I think securities should be employed there.
Here's the thing about local bet shops as to why there's not a lot of securities there, it's probably because the people that are playing there are patrons and most of them are situated in places that's got a low amount of crime rate that it's not really a worry for them to be raided with armed robbers because they're not a really good place to rob plus if you're transporting money to and from that bet shop, you wouldn't really attack that transport near the bet shop because it's going to raise suspicions plus the transportation of the money of these shops are pretty sneaky anyway so would be robbers are pretty much going to have a hard time casing the shops.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any fun in losing while gambling on: December 27, 2023, 11:23:00 AM
The only thing that I can think where it's fun when you're losing is when you've lost to something extraordinary that you can't even be mad that that's how things turned out. One example would be playing poker, you're on a one on one bluffing match with another player and you think that's they're bluffing and so you end up risking it all to scare them on the river but then they end up not bluffing and that you're the one that's fallen for their trap, you can't be mad at that because it's skills and mind games that made you do that and it's also a learning moment for you, that could be a factor to consider too when we want to consider losing as fun, you learn something from that loss.
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prove me wrong: Gambling is both more relaxing and entertaining than trading! on: December 27, 2023, 09:44:01 AM
It's hard to tell, that's not the absolute truth about gambling, I know a few that rages when they lose a lot of money when they're gambling, have seen fights broke out in a casino back when I was a kid. Sure some people might be seeing it that way but I'm sure that's not the case for everyone. @STT says it best.
Relaxing can only possibly apply if you stay within your limits.   IF you bet the house then how can it be relaxing, as a game designed to be a leisure past time then yes gambling is the easier path then trading otherwise i don't especially agree.   Reason why OP might be more wrong then right is too many people walk into a bad situation lackadaisically, do the simple thing and have a set limited budget every day then mistakes are purely just for that day its all fun and games then.
If you're putting in millions, I don't think that you can ever relax in that kind of situation because there's a lot of money at stake either you're a nihilist or a Buddhist kind of guy that you don't care about the money that you're going to lose no matter how large the amount is.
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: December 27, 2023, 08:41:33 AM
For me, it should be at least 6 hours or the whole day because I don't gamble frequently and so I want to make the most out of my gambling habit, that's the justification for when I gamble long periods of time but I can't be sure about how much time I spend because there's times that I felt like it's fast that I lost all the funds for gambling and then there's times when I felt like it's been so long. But I think that what I do is a good estimate albeit I have to say that it's not applicable to everyone and you need to do this when you don't have any work the next day or the day that you're gambling or that you're on call to your work even in your day offs.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 26, 2023, 02:36:39 PM
DT members using it and promoting it? I think that should be one of the key factors for me, if people here who are legendary accounts and been here for a long time and like..properly legendary accounts not in just membership status meaning but like emotionally quite known figures on this forum, and they write something like a promotion of that website, like they approve of it and they used it and they liked it? Then I could give it a go and trust it a bit myself. Thats the initial start, I have to see someone reputable to suggest a place, after that I get in myself and if I face no issues at all then I keep growing more trust towards it, if I face any issues then I just bail out and not use it.
Would be plausible but that's not really the big deal there, I think the clean slate in terms of reputation is something that will trump that promotion thingy because that means that their gambling operation is running smooth and there's no way that you're going to be experiencing anything bad in there.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Low cost but effective solutions to gambling addiction on: December 26, 2023, 01:38:19 PM
Yeah, the thing is that it is really difficult to see yourself when you are in that situation.

From the outside it might be obvious, but from the inside it is surprisingly difficult. It's hard to get out of a bad habit that has grown over the years.
Thank you for pointing this out, this is what's been missing in all the people that's replying to this thread: empathy. Just because you think it's going to work doesn't mean that it's going to be effective in practice and it's going to be so unempathetic of us to tell what works and what not, addiction is complex and how to solve them is literally different for each individual even if there's some similarities to the possible solution, each person will recover differently.
