421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Elon Musk keep what he said or not? on: September 20, 2023, 09:52:29 AM
I sort of don’t think he will accept Bitcoin. Not because he doesn’t want to but because I think the Tesla board won’t be happy about it. I am holding out hope though that as a gimmick when releasing the Cybertruck, he will accept BTC for purchases of it. Given how futuristic the Cybertruck is, I think it would be a perfect match.
Is he still the CEO of Tesla? I don't think that he is anymore so I don't hold out much hope that they would be accepting bitcoin for purchases but maybe there's a possibility that they will since Tesla has their bitcoins so I am sure they want to make some profit out of that. Cybertruck hype isn't that big anymore, and in terms of how futuristic it looks, I disagree that's a futuristic aesthetics, if you've seen the game Cyberpunk, you would agree.
422  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce the price of goods on: September 20, 2023, 08:38:38 AM
The reason why they probably allow or enable monopoly is because someone who is influential and powerful in the government is allowing that to happen, that's the only explanation why there's a monopoly on that country or any country for that matter. But I do agree with you, we need to find ways to destroy monopolistic capitalism because if that's the norm, we will see our lives governed by few and our freedom restricted.
423  Economy / Economics / Re: X (formerly Twitter) may be telling people like me to exit the platform on: September 20, 2023, 07:44:02 AM
Whether you use it or not, X will still work according to the plan they set out, eliminating some users who do not trust it. I think that is also the strategy that Elon Musk wants for this social network. In fact, what I've observed in the past few months is that X is very popular, perhaps partly due to the creator compensation program. Although there are quality issues with the content, I personally still like to use it a lot to follow updates from the market as well as some news that is not heavily censored on the platform.
Yeah you could be right but if 80% of there user base aren't paying and would choose a different platform that would probably offer the same thing but for free, I don't think that we will see X become a profitable platform for Musk. I don't have any ties or attachment to X or any creators that's famous in that platform so I am utterly pessimistic that putting a price on X would a good thing, they kind of like shooting themselves on the foot here although I'm not an expert in human behavior so I might be wrong and the need for clout exceeds the downside of using X.
424  Economy / Economics / Re: Thailand to start taxing overseas income next year, including from crypto on: September 20, 2023, 05:34:13 AM
Thailand is known for its tourism, and it is true that some foreigners live in their exploding tax loopholes. But this policy can create a negative impact on foreign investment and tourism. Many foreigners were happy about their low tax rates, which made them an attractive place for many expats. Most of these expats were already paying tax in their home country; now if they need to pay a high tax in Thailand as well, this will force them to leave the country.
I don't think that they are including tourists on that law so I don't think the tourists need to worry about that, they're probably talking about expatriates who have been living in Thailand but are working in overseas and are getting paid by the country that they're working from so if you're a tourist nothing to worry about I think. I think leaving the country for some of these expatriates are far fetch thing for them to do because what's a little more tax compared to going back to their country with a much higher standard of living than what they currently have in Thailand.
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 19, 2023, 03:24:27 PM
What sucks is that if most beginners just download a bitcoin wallet off Google PlayStore/Apple AppStore, chances are, they'd land upon an exchange wallet or a custodial wallet. The way bitcoin/crypto is now, you need to learn by mistake first lol before actually ending up diving deeper.

https://chainsec.io/checklist
I hope that whaat you're saying doesn't become a frequent thing to happen to beginners because knowing that there's a lot of people that will quit if they made a mistake the 1st try serves nothing to the adoption of bitcoin. Although I do agree that allowing yourself to make mistake is a good thing if you want to learn, I still think that having that as your first experience in your first step wouldn't be good.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UnionBank to offer Bitcoin trading on mobile app in Octomber on: September 19, 2023, 11:34:06 AM
This is from our country. I haven't gone through most of the details but for everyone's sake just to have an idea. Unionbank is a local bank here and they've been supportive of crypto. But there have been reports that when a customer deposits money that came from the source through crypto, they've put a red flag on it. A few crypto users and as well as depositors of that bank have posted it on social media before. While it is good to have another wallet and exchange here in our country. I can say that these wallet providers and exchanges here are becoming competitive because we're having a lot of options and that's in favor for us.
One of my friends got that exact problem with Unionbank too, deposited 20k USD worth in PHP then got flagged by the bank although to be fair with the bank, my friend quickly withdrawn the same amount so definitely it's understandable that it's flagged as suspicious, that was one of the reasons why that friend stopped using Unionbank, plus there are other online banking much better than Unionbank now so it's not that big deal that UB plans to accept bitcoin trading or crypto.
427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government vs Bitcoin on: September 19, 2023, 10:09:33 AM
Both are good and useful things for us. The government provides us with security, stores, roads, schools, hospitals, and many more things, which help us to live. Bitcoin is like a business, if you invest then you can make a profit, and sometimes you should pick a loss in bitcoin. This same thing in business.

But, Bitcoin is the best thing for money.

Too bad most governments fail to provide those stuff you've mentioned especially if it doesn't benefit them or make their pockets bigger. I don't know about you but I think bitcoin isn't that whatever you're talking about, bitcoin's more than that. The reason why bitcoin isn't on a friendly terms with the government is because bitcoin is liberating people from being dependent on them and they know this that's why any big moves that bitcoin takes, they have to be watchful because if it goes awry, it's bad for them.
428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ouch, today someone made a transaction with over $500k fee. on: September 19, 2023, 08:21:04 AM
I bet 99.9999999% if not 100% of lawyers and judges have absolutely no idea about how bitcoin mining and blockchain network works. This would be the case where they'll have to judge what they don't know and won't be able to understand which argument is right or wrong.
We aren't students of school of law but we can logically say that there is absolutely zero chance that miner is guilty. It's miners duty to mine bitcoin block and keep mining fees. I would even say that if miner agrees to return fees to someone, they are probably part of money laundering. Why? Because, why would someone pay half a billion in fees and then ask miner for return? To launder money, that's how they do that. We can argue on this, right? Sure. But the best judge in this case is Bitcoin Whitepaper, it doesn't say that we should return fees to transaction makers. Instead, miners should keep them, it's their property.
How are you so sure that there's nil lawyers would have no idea about this kind of case? Is your superiority complex that bad that you think that other people that don't have an inkling of knowledge or their interests are outside of bitcoin don't have the idea what they can do with this? They don't need to know it, the clients and the defendants just need to tell the truth and everything that the court needs to know so they can make a case about it. Clearly you and I aren't a student that's involve with law but I don't just blurt conjecture with confidence. Not everything wrong with bitcoin is money laundering, it's been proven already that bitcoin's a bad cryptocurrency to use for that kind of activity.
429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They sent me btc to my wallet they were available and then they disappeared! on: September 19, 2023, 05:18:41 AM
The wrong thing that you did was to trust the stranger and at the same time not even confirm with your eyes that they've paid you. Basing on your limited information, it seems like this is a transaction done in person. Maybe @LoyceMobile is right, they could've used RBF to redirect the destination address of the bitcoin back to them. As the others have pointed out, post your address so people can see what you're talking about or even the conversations with the person prior to the bitcoin purchase.

431  Economy / Economics / Re: It ain't meant to be easy on: September 18, 2023, 12:03:08 PM
We are currently living in the chapter of our lives devoted to survival as living things. Additionally, we are aware that survival is currently difficult; if we do nothing, we will undoubtedly perish from starvation. Whatever is going on in our lives, whether we like it or not, we still need to figure out how to turn a profit.
Not survival, our generation/time has the highest survival rate as a species compared to the different ages in the human history, we have cures for once incurable and almost mythological sicknesses/diseases back when science wasn't yet that advance, what we're struggling right now is finding purpose and trying to make a name for ourselves, with billions of us, I think it's going to depress anyone to think that some people will never find their purpose because they have to compete for ever dwindling resources. Also worth mentioning that with capitalism, everyone is trying to make things that was once free and taken for granted into a profit making machine so yeah, life ain't easy because we let it be.
432  Economy / Economics / Re: Was just watching the big short. Why do the times suddenly feel similar? on: September 18, 2023, 09:19:18 AM
I'm not that updated on what's happening on the housing market on the US but iirc in the movie, the cause of the collapse was because companies are accepting mortgages no matter how bad the credit is of the person that wants to buy the house because the real estate sellers gets the cash quickly so they just accept everyone with background checks. So I don't know how it can be the same because last time, I think the land price in the US is just going higher which is kind of the opposite in the movie.
433  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 18, 2023, 02:39:21 AM
The best thing for bitcoin users to do is to buy and hoard their bitcoins, the second best thing would be investing in property or gold or any precious metals and if worse comes to worse, probably secure your valuables and your property because depending on how severe the collapse would be, desperation to find means to survive will proportionately increase. Also worth noting that if the global economy collapse happens at a literal global scale, bitcoin and how to save our finances would be the least of our worries I think.
434  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 17, 2023, 02:01:40 PM
~
If there’s wealth that you were able to built out from a single luck, then expect that it will also vanish all of a sudden just like a thin air. That’s why stable wealth are hard to build and establish. Sometimes, you need more than just one luck, and a sufficient knowledge and skills, and a good amount of patience in order to build your wealth. If you do everything and yet you’re still not lucky, probably you are doing the wrong and ineffective way.
Let me get this straight, you've said that "able to build wealth out of a single luck", build implies that it was successful in a way because you were able to build something and to build meant it's already stable. I don't know about your opinion about luck but I'm not the biggest believer that luck's a defining virtue someone should get when they're trying to build wealth, pretty sure billionaires don't rely on luck. The only luck I would consider is probably getting born in a wealthy family.

Even winning in a lottery requires time.  I have never heard someone who just bought his first lottery ticket win.  If there is, it is more likely a fabricated story to make the story more sensationalized.  So these people may have been buying lottery tickets for months or years before they got the winning number combination.
The chance of winning in lottery is random to the point that it's impossible to win and that you're likely to die going to a lottery to buy the tickets than to win the ticket but randomness isn't a line, it's more of a jumbled balls and what you pick first can be the win. Here's an article and here's also the famous story of Bill Morgan to refute your claim that it takes time to win the lottery. The reason you're probably not believing these stories is probably because you're a skeptic and you question everything which is a good thing or you're bitter that they've got an insane beginner's luck and you don't have any.

~
At the same time in a situation where one person bought Bitcoin at a very cheap price.  This took years before Bitcoin started to skyrocket.  In short, there is no such thing as get rich quick, because if it is, the person may probably be scammed.
Well, if you look at it now, they're still lucky that they're able to buy bitcoin at a cheap price and was able to build wealth in it, it might not be lucky to you but that opportunity to buy bitcoin at a dirt cheap not knowing it will change your life someday is luck in my book.

One stroke of luck is a make or break moment for anybody and since we're talking about building wealth, we should avoid to say that there's only one result to this because I am pretty sure that if I search the Internet about people keeping their success after winning something to jumpstart their wealth (most of them that I've checked are lottery winners though), I guarantee you that there's going to be names that going to pop up.
435  Other / Off-topic / Re: How has AI affected your job? Positively or negatively? on: September 17, 2023, 12:45:19 PM
AI is better than a Google search, I'm working in Tech support so whenever a problem that I haven't encountered yet, I am able to just ask for the AI to give me possible solutions to the problem that I'm currently facing which helps me narrow down the possible solutions and the causes of the problems. So for me definitely a positive, as for the AI that I am using, ChatGPT was my first use but now whenever I need to do spreadsheet works, I use Bard, more clean solutions there compared to ChatGPT.
436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: September 17, 2023, 10:19:30 AM
To each of their own I guess, some people have a lot of amicable friends that they can ask for help so when they do referrals they are able to make worth of the time that they could've spent on other things doing referrals now on the other hand though, if you don't have that many friends that's going to be helping you in your referrals then it's a waste of time for you. In the case of a difficulty in claiming the bonuses I wouldn't say it's going to generalize every casino out there or any business out there that does referrals as a waste of time.
437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Tax Efficient With Your Gambling Habbits? on: September 17, 2023, 07:15:23 AM
Now I'm quite curious how other gamblers are managing this part of the story, if they manage it at all.

So, question to you, did you ever consider paying taxes on your gambling winnings, or deduct the taxes with the losses you've created? If not, what is the reasoning behind it?
Tax code in my country which is the Philippines is pretty vague when it comes to gambling winnings, although it says that if my winnings are around 200 USD below are taxed at 10% while anything above would be taxed at 20% pretty big to be honest and this is the first time that I've known of this because I don't think the Revenue Service in my country hasn't been on my ass yet for taxes regarding gambling winnings, I only play poker though so it's possible casinos and lottery wins are a different thing.
438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: September 16, 2023, 04:42:05 PM
I don't think there is any online casino that puts some restrictions of gender to be able to participate on any games, women are free to get into gambling but one thing is certain about them, women don't like taking high risks, they are cautious because of their lesser risk habits, unlike men who like taking risks aggressively.

Have you ever ask yourself why we don't see women getting addicted to gambling? It's because they aren't totally sold to taking risks, and it has something to do with taking responsibility too, because women take less responsibility than men.

To be honest, women should be the ones getting addicted to gambling, because they have too less to care for or about, I feel like if you have less responsibility you will be able to take more risks, or maybe I am wrong, maybe this is just one of the reasons why men are always different.
OP still probably living in the 30s where women's still fighting for suffrage. Totally agree with you about women being less likely to take risks when gambling though, probably got to do with their biology or psychology or probably just their priorities in life. I wouldn't agree with you about women not being addicted to gambling though, it's an anecdotal fallacy to say that we as in everyone doesn't see any women that's addicted to gambling because I've known people that have a gambling addicted mothers and that it's the cause for their broken families. On your last statement, that sounds bigoted or misogynistic because you're imposing them to roles that's not rational or unreasonable.
439  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit withdrawal pending for over 16 hours on: September 16, 2023, 03:27:56 PM
Problem shared is problem solved , that is, as you shared the problem those who have experienced it before,  shared their experienced with you and find solutions to it and solve the problem. Rollbit is a reputable casino company so when you brought the news, people were surprised and that was why I also told you that, you would have waited for like 24hrs first before creating thread on their head. Well thank God that the issue has been resolved. And I also thank you for updating us back again.
Too bad that resolved cases are far too few compared that to people that are still having problem with some of these crypto casinos but I guess there's just too many and it's not like no one that are claiming fake issues. Regarding the update, it's actually nice that OP bothered to do so because there's other users that don't do any updates and casinos often don't do the update themselves so many people are left in the dark.
440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: September 16, 2023, 01:19:49 PM
~
Why did you say that there is no moderation in gambling? Is it that you believe the nature of gambling it difficult that anyone that gambles cannot do so in moderation or you are doubting the ability of the gamblers to gamble in moderation?
I can say that I am a moderate gambler. Yes! I am . Do you know that I can place multiple bets on sports betting and days after the match, I will not remember to check the outcome. It is only when I want to bet again, maybe next weekend that I'll know if my portfolio added or reduced. How will you call my habit of gambling?
Yes I did say that, I don't think that there's any kind of moderation in gambling, and yes it's difficult to be moderate about when you've been gambling consistently. Anything addicting, when you start doing it, you're already hooked, you just don't know it yet. The consistency doesn't have to daily, as long as there's a pattern and a habit, it's still an addiction.
