21  Economy / Speculation / Re: These reasons are enough to get bitcoin to keep rising despite Elon Musk Fud on: May 16, 2021, 03:42:28 PM
It wouldn't be enough if you ask me, most of the news I have seen like institutional investors joining and as well as remittance centers like MoneyGram implementing Bitcoin to their business is something that really didn't made any noise in the market even though they are positive news they didn't exactly had any kind of affect in the market whatsoever proven by the FUD as well as the timed market correction Bitcoin is experiencing now. We wants news that has a direct effect for Bitcoin and what I mean about that is good news that can affect the demand for it and right now we aren't seeing any of it recently just business implementations for Bitcoin and nothing more about it having an increase in demand.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Colonial Pipeline paid 75 BTC ransomware to DarkSide hackers on: May 16, 2021, 02:24:34 PM
I still doesn't understand how these ransomware guys managed to infect the pipeline computers. Are these companies staffed by people who can't differentiate an office email from a phishing email? If that is the case, then Brenntag should contact the hackers and recruit them as cyber security experts in their company. How can anyone with even basic computer knowledge fall in to this trap? Really pathetic state of affairs with some of the top corporations in the United States.

On an employees perspective they get dozens of emails everyday and with them having deadlines to manage it will be easily overlooked by them especially these types of fake emails designed to look like it was sent by your own company, I have seen one when I am on my work and I was lucky enough to be able to report it. With that being said if the company who has hundreds or thousands of employees receive this kind of emails it will be hard for them to avoid any kind of mistake on opening a phising email or even download a malware. I've seen how the company take action in this where it filters out emails pretty good but its not enough to remove every threat so now they are focusing on educating everyone with cybersecurity.
23  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Cebu City government eyeing crypto payments on: May 16, 2021, 11:53:03 AM
24  Economy / Economics / Re: The Reason Bitcoin Investment will be preferred more than Oil on: May 15, 2021, 09:02:52 PM
I believe Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency in general being a more "preferred" option as an investment is more than about other kinds assets underperforming or even comparisons of it against gold and other fiat. Cryptocurrency as a investment will most likely end up in the choosing of how the investors itself see/decide on where their valuable money will go, take South Korea as an example where their country right now has more trading volume on their crypto exchanges compared to their own stock market showing that their own citizens are more interested in fast moving assets and are more risk takers compared to others. If this will be a thing I think this will be the reason on the change in preference of a lot of people on what investment they are going to take.
25  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-05-12 CoinDesk - MoneyGram to Allow Bitcoin Buying and Selling on: May 15, 2021, 06:54:57 PM
Imagine what a shitload of money they could have done if they opened to bitcoin in the past.

This is what non-crypto companies have been seeing recently this year and I think that will be a pattern we will see. Earlier this 1st quarter we have seen companies like JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs introducing crypto-based investment portfolio for their clients and this is just a hint that they are seeing a competition from crypto-based investment companies. Now that a remittance center has taken the first step to be part of the crypto industry it would be interesting to see how other companies will follow up namely Western Union and TransferWise which is their biggest competition, maybe they will match it just for the sake of not being left out as what other companies have shown this year.
26  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Guide to deposit to/withdraw from exchanges if Central Bank/RBI restricts Banks on: May 15, 2021, 03:15:11 PM
This is a good workaround using another service to prevent any kind of banking restriction however it has its disadvantages such as providing another KYC for another type of platform and as well as other additional fees for processing your withdrawal to a bank and more importantly the service, OctaFX, will definitely see some "unusual activity" from your account since they'll definitely see that you are only using their service as a way of getting your funds around this kind of activity of course if flagged by many services for AML and other monetary compliance. That is why for countries where the crypto industry is hindered by the banks there most preferred method is direct P2P trading just like how Nigeria handles things with their crypto market.
27  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: check out my project - feedback/interest is much appreciated on: May 14, 2021, 03:47:52 PM
I've strolled around your website and I am quite impressed with the level of development you have made for being a one-man team, I also have looked into your parkcryption app and I don't know if this is just part of the DEMO but you only have a few spots available for your app. I also have notice that you are mostly focus on the development part of your app since its the only thing included in your roadmap but if the business is about parking spaces I would suggest that you also try to focus on finding partners such as hotels, malls, and other commercial spaces that leases their parking space so you have a lot of "supply" for your users. For people who are interested in being one I would suggest that you start including a page dedicated for interested operators/parking lot owners who wants to take part of your project similar to what RingGo did in their website.
28  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Bigas PH are now accepting cryptocurrency? on: May 14, 2021, 02:48:13 PM
It's good to see that an emerging business has taken the step forward pagdating sa pag-accept ng cryptocurrency lalong-lalo na match ito sa kanilang online platform pero pag titignan ninyo mabuti sa tingin ko wala itong epekto sa ating crypto industry. Unang-una sa lahat may option sila for cash on delivery (COD) which I think ito ang magiging preferred ng mga tao dahil ito sa tingin nila ang pinaka "convenient" dahil cash is king pa din sa Pilipinas, pangalawa hindi mismo prinopromote sa kanilang website na tumatanggap sila ng Bitcoin at other cryptocurrencies kumpara sa ibang payment methods like Visa and Paypal payments which para sakin ay parang di nila focus or preferred na tanggapin sa kanilang business kung gusto ninyo makakita ng mass adoption sa Pilipinas sa tingin ko dapat magsimula muna tayo sa digitalization ng payments natin dahil dito mapapadali ang proseso.
29  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Accounts Hacked Threads on Reddit? on: May 14, 2021, 01:52:51 PM
So I been checking reddit lately and coinbase and everyday, there is literally multiple threads about people getting hacked.  I did read lot of these threads and most of these issues seem to be on the user's side where they make mistakes with their security.  But how often is anything on coinbase's end?  I mean everyday you see multiple threads of people saying their got their coins hacked.

Custodial wallets such as Coinbase are always targeted by hackers and most of their method are done through phishing emails and websites and that is why there are several cases of hacks happening to its users.

In cases like these, I assume coinbase is never responsible right?  I mean let say someone had no coins in coinbase but only usd funds.  Let say they had 5 digits worth of usd.  If a hacker bought coins and then sent it to their own wallet, that means the user of the account is screwed right?  But i heard something like usd is insured by coinbase... but this is not what they mean right?  I assume that insurance is only if coinbase itself got hacked or they go down etc?

Any kind of hack that has a contribution to the user's carelessness or error will make Coinbase not liable to anything so its safe to say that they can get away with it. AFAIK their insurance is just for your cash balance in your account as they are covered by the FDIC as most of the cash balance from Coinbase are stored in banks which is covered by it and that is only for US customers only. I don't know how their insurance works though if it covers hacks or not.

Now what about people who send their coins to coinbase vault for storage?  If that happens, do accounts still get hacked?  I heard if you keep coins there, you cant withdraw for two whole days... so wouldnt that mean if a customer got hacked, they could then contact coinbase within that time period so hacker can't withdraw during that time frame?  But the other issue is doesnt coinbase take a while to reply back to emails and thus by that, the hacker could have got into the account?

Assuming that you have full control of your account and the hacker hasn't change your password or anything then you can cancel it as the cancellation of your withdrawal from Coinbase Vault has actions required from your account, tbh I don't know how this will prevent things if the hacker already knows your passwords from your account and email as he can definitely change them revoking your control from your account.
30  Other / Archival / Re: Cryptocurrency Radio Network - Imaginary on: May 14, 2021, 01:00:43 PM
Radio Waves/Frequencies are not the most secure way as it is very vulnerable to data siphoning and hacks as it is broadcasted to everyone not on a particular network. So this isn't really a safe alternative of broadcasting transactions besides that privacy will be an issue here as assuming that the transactions are being broadcasted people can track the transactions easily especially the authorities who have the capability of pinpointing your location via the use of radio waves.

32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 14, 2021, 12:05:56 PM
To secure a Champions League position, I think it's quite easy for AC Milan. In the next match AC Milan will play against Cagliari, which is a level far below AC Milan.

But in football, no one can predict for sure except the match against the caretaker team  Cheesy hehehe...

Hopefully atalanta can't win the rest of its matches, so that we can all see the top Italian league teams play in the Champions League

I wouldn't say that to Milan as even if they will be facing Cagliari they will be facing Atalanta on their next match and Napoli as well as Juventus is not that far behind although Juventus will be facing Inter Milan I don't think this top 2-5 teams will be giving up on this spots so really this is a close one for all 4 teams. In terms of schedule Juventus might be the toughest one but Milan and Atalanta will also be facing each other and that match could be a deciding factor on who enters the Champions League.
33  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Traders Don't easily lend out money. on: May 14, 2021, 11:29:27 AM
Lending as a friend is totally different from lending as a form of business I think you got mixed up in the wrong way from a friend asking money from you but if you don't see lending as something profitable I believe the only solution for you is to decline your friend and not to promote lending as something wrong. Yeah you don't owe anything to that person but its not always the case when you are lending, to be honest I have lend money a couple of times with 0% interest to my friends who I trust and all of them have fully paid it always on time and this didn't hurt me in anything aside from that I have declined from requests that I believe is too much for me and it was ok for them at the end of the day you are still friends.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Need Help getting listed on BSC Scan, Coin Gecko, and CMC on: May 13, 2021, 03:35:19 PM
Just follow their rules and also their requirements when it comes to listing your cryptocurrency as this is the only way that these websites will handle you, I believe patience is of the essence here as it will take time for them chances are they are screening thousands of requests as people can easily create tokens of their own. Also avoid contacting them in other means as it might just hinder your progress, for example CMC explicitly tells the users to don't attempt on contacting them outside of their submission form as you will just be redirected back to it.
35  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-05-05 CNBC - Bitcoin is coming to hundreds of U.S. banks this year on: May 12, 2021, 09:23:11 PM
“What we’re doing is making it simple for everyday Americans and corporations to be able to buy bitcoin through their existing bank relationships,” Sells said. “If I’m using my mobile application to do all of my banking, now I have the ability to buy, sell and hold bitcoin.”

I guessed this count towards credit card accounts as well right? I've seen many posts regarding people being denied of their crypto purchases by their banks as most of them classified it as a risk factor when it comes to lending money out, if they include this I guesses this is a big step up for the US. Aside from that with the banks recognition for Bitcoin I think it just gives more confidence to their clients that their Bitcoin related transaction won't be frozen by them or anything that will cause an issue this is in fact a good news, wondering why it didn't get any kind of noise though.
36  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Most favorable country for the crypto market on: May 12, 2021, 05:35:01 PM
I might be a little biased here but I am nominating my country the Philippines, I have been on the scene for a long time now and the least I have to worry when I sell my bitcoin is the network fees and the transaction fee of payment apps that I use but besides that all the money that I get are intact and no taxes to worry, we also have a high tax bracket so you can get a lot of money and not worry about taxes.

You might mislead the members here by saying this statement that you don't pay taxes in the Philippines but in fact they do have one as gains from cryptocurrencies fall under capital gains tax and if you earn them as a payment for a service or any kind of good it will be eligible for income tax. I have a feeling that you think that earnings from crypto don't have taxes in the Philippines as they barely put any kind of attention to the industry aside from that they barely have any kind of enforcement except for regulating local crypto wallets and exchanges. Philippines for me is a "friendly" country in terms of legality for cryptocurrencies but they aren't the type that attracts foreign investors because they support it.
37  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to create a bitcoin account? on: May 12, 2021, 04:07:00 PM
@EDSGGoel also your question and particularly the lack of knowledge you have will make you attract a lot of scammers here in the forum and they will take advantage of you so be careful when it comes to you on opening up messages here in the forum teaching you "how to create a Bitcoin account" when in fact they aren't really there to help you but to scam you. Just follow what jackg said as you have 2 choices for wallets the custodial one where you have to create an account and the non-custodial one where you'll be accessing your wallet with a private key.
38  Economy / Economics / Re: 3.9million users took part in the Elon Musk poll; What will be Tesla's decision? on: May 12, 2021, 02:49:23 PM
It still depends I don't think he meant something solid on the survey they did when it comes to accepting DOGE as they still need to consider the volatility factor of DOGE which proves to be more unstable compared to Bitcoin as literally it is just a memecoin that is susceptible to hype. If they'll be accepting it because of this survey I highly doubt that they will be keeping and holding it as it is as chances are they'll be converting it immediately so they'll avoid any kind of losses just by accepting it.
39  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Hint from Mark Zuckerberg "Max" & "Bitcoin". Have Facebook invsted on Bitcoin? on: May 11, 2021, 07:27:45 PM
Everything Facebook will do that has plans coming from their assets/money will be disclosed in their SEC profile since they are a publicly listed company just like how Tesla have reported it on their page via their Annual Report but looking at their latest filing up to their Quarterly Report so far none of them mentioned anything about Bitcoin purchases nor any mention about any cryptocurrency so right now we are just speculating on Zuckerberg naming his pet "Bitcoin". This might just be one of those posts a influential do to see if it will have any kind of effect in the world which in fact it did as it already made the headlines including the mainstream meadia.
40  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FREEWallet.org is going to SCAM 1,675,000 Doge-coin on: May 11, 2021, 04:23:39 PM
I first saw the issue about freewallet is on this thread about Elon Musk asking in Twitter to unlock his account which they did maybe he was one of the lucky ones as any wrong actions did by their team/wallet will reflect badly on their reputation with just one tweet away, I didn't know that they will continue locking out or freezing accounts after the close call they had from Elon Musk he even warned them that we must avoid any kind of wallets that don't give out private keys.
