201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 26, 2017, 11:45:32 AM
Everyone that uses TA and chart signals to trade bitcoin is a stupid person. TA is a fishnet used by market makers to catch small fish. The so called day traders are just adrenaline junkies. Short term you might have some success. Even broken clock is correct twice per day. But long term you'll lose your capital. Best strategy for bitcoin proved throughout all those 8 years is to buy whenever you can and hold!

Thx, but hodling through major crashes in the last years I started to appreciate the sense of staying liquid and do some trades, especially near trend reversals. Being a baghodler is stressing in a bear market. But it's even true that hodling btc has been the most profitable thing I ever did.

Holding and playing long term beats most day and short term traders but some day and short term traders use profitable techniques. Their feelings and techniques can be ev>0 for years then not anymore but being connected to the market and projecting a deep and being right is not only related to bare luck.

It could go to 700$ then to 1500$ within 5 months. It seems like a good time to sell and buy back from 950 USD to 850  USD.
203  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit transaction sent 12 hours ago 10 peers seen it. still unconfirmed on: March 14, 2017, 09:05:33 AM
So for the record, i reset twice the multibit client for the funds to be displayed again then i tried to import the private keys to a multibit hd and to a blockchain wallet unsuccessfully and i ended up trying your solution to use a non hd newer classic version of multibit that allowed to change the transaction fees.

0.0002/byte worked well, my transaction is confirmed, thank you very much for the help. Bitcointalk is indeed very useful ;-)
204  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit transaction sent 12 hours ago 10 peers seen it. still unconfirmed on: March 13, 2017, 11:26:38 AM
OK thank you, it's very precise.

But when i enter the transaction in https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ it shows "Transaction does not exist".

Also, I clicked on "Reset blockchain and transactions" in the multibit client, it synced again but now the transaction doesn't appear in transactions, the btc are not here and didn't arrive to destination. I closed it and re-opened it 3 times, it stays the same. I had reset the blockchain and transactions on Friday the transaction had been canceled, the money was displayed in the client.

If the transaction was sent it should appear on the receiving address.
205  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: March 12, 2017, 06:01:21 PM
I wonder how this "legend" site have started. It may sound silly but when I am new to bitcoin, (that means about a year ago), I got addicted to freebitco.in . The simplicity of the site, is best for newbies/beginners. Although, it may also be the reason why a newbie would turn out to be a gambler.(self-experience).

This site is really pretty addicted when you are on low rank on bct, this site is really hekpful for every newbie to earn some cash or may be if they are lucky enough they will need to get 10000 or may be win some lucky lottery to earn better. This site is not really bad even for experience people but sometimes gambler always want to get more and more that is why this site always not suitable for them

Even for newbie this site is useless as they are paying the lowest pay in faucet and their lottery system is fully manipulated and all new ids are getting winners which are most of them of site owners. Dice gambling is also very waste as their house edge is the highest

This is not true. Thier payouts are among the highest in the world of faucets and that's why they are mentioned almost by every site reviewing existing bitcoin faucets.

To be more precise you can get guaranteed $0.002 in BTC every hour, but also you can win up to $200 while claiming the faucet.

It's easy to play the faucet and you can gamble with their Hi-Lo game as well. What is interesting is getting referrals then have a passive income :-)
206  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit transaction sent 12 hours ago 10 peers seen it. still unconfirmed on: March 12, 2017, 05:16:27 PM
If you post the transaction's ID here the community might be able to help.

Very old versions of multibit were capable of sending transactions that included something called high s values. Since then the Bitcoin network has been changed yo only accept transactions with low s values. If your wallet sent a high s value transaction the network will reject it.

Upgrading to the latest multibit classic version will solve that problem

https://multibit.org/release-info/classic/v0.5.18.html

There is a problem with Multibit Classic where the transactions with high "S" values are not accepted since the Bitcoin protocol is now enforcing low S values only. So my question is will the developers and maintainers of Multibit upgrade classic to use only low S values when sending Bitcoins?

I hope they will since I like the classic wallet better than HD. I would hate to run into problems where my transactions would not be accepted by the network.

Besides that problem the network has a high backlog of transactions. Any transaction without a very high fee per KB is likely to take longer than normal to confirm.

OK thanks, I will wait until tomorrow morning then I will move the funds through a new multibit version or an other client. The size of the transaction is 18,687 bytes.

207  Other / MultiBit / Multibit transaction sent 12 hours ago 10 peers seen it. still unconfirmed on: March 12, 2017, 12:31:30 PM
I haven't used multibit in years but some change accumulated on an address connected to the client and yesterday, maybe influenced by the relative high price of Bitcoin (still very low compared to the medium term potential), I decided to send it to an other address :-)

12 hours ago, I issued a transaction, the minimum default transaction fee I could use was 0.0019011 and it made a 4 digit after coma round number for the money sent. It seems like a huge transaction fee but I was impatient and rusty on multibit so I sent it anyway without trying to lower it.

Now, the transaction is still pending/unconfirmed, 10 peers have seen it, it's not on blockchain and I need to close multibit then re-open it to refresh the number of peers that have seen or it stays the same.

I see a lot of subjects about pending transactions, the most common advice is to switch to multibit HD but I am not familiar with it so I have some uncertainty on whether it will work or not.

Can anyone enlighten me on my chances in waiting for the transaction to be confirmed ? How many peers could it take ?
Thanks.

The version is 0.5.16.

Why is this a 1?
What am I missing?
Is ETF by tomorrow?
Have I lost my mind?!
Anyone?Huh

I need to know too what this jumping one is. Im guessing forever, but i have no clue :/
Clearly they have insider knowledge that today the etf approves   Grin

let's see if it's buy the rumor sell the facts.

it could also be a long-term move up because the Dollar will be inflated by the FED as will other fiat currencies since the governments will likely choose inflation over decreasing nominal spending.
209  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How is trading *not* gambling? on: March 05, 2017, 12:13:52 PM
How different is trading from just gambling? I know there seems to be a  big difference with technical analysis and whatnot, but in the end aren't you just betting on something completely random?

Not completely random and you can be ev>0 in many cases especially since it's not always a zero sum game.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Banks are starting to use blockchains to send bank wires that confirm in minutes on: February 26, 2017, 02:15:53 PM
Banks are starting to use blockchains to send bank wires that confirm in minutes, it's still centralized wires of fiat money that you have to store with a bank if you want to store it digitally but do you think it's good or bad for Bitcoin adoption in the short/medium term ?
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Daily use of bitcoin? on: February 15, 2017, 03:03:32 PM
is there a website to look at uses of bitcoin ?

main uses i see are : to save up, to send value internationally, to gamble, to trade.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Daily use of bitcoin? on: February 06, 2017, 02:41:06 PM
I dont use my bitcoins at my real life, usually the bitcoins i do have i do invest into altcoins, bitcoin has several ways to be used and spent online, using it on daily basic nowadays isnt something we could do directly, make payments does have a big delay to confirmation, but in the future something can change.
yeah i think it is difficult for a person using bitcoin is to use it for daily life because only a few online store accept it and most of the developing countries didn't know about online shopping because of lack of access to internet but i hope in future it may be possible......

bitcoin is very useful to store value, save in a currency that will not be inflated and pay back friends that live oversea and trust bitcoins.
213  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How is trading *not* gambling? on: January 28, 2017, 09:28:52 AM
funny thing is that strategy does not work all the time, this mean that there is a certain % of loss which is not insignificant

trading is gambling simply because of this not insignificant % of loss, when someone say that you can be 55% + ev in the long term he is actually saying that he is gambling, no real difference

because there is also no guaranteed that the 55% as an example will stay there forever

Guaranteed profits don't exist, so yes, you can't expect to make a certain amount of profits every year. You'll make what you make, where at the end of the year you'll see how much profit you actually gained. Point is that if you know what you do, that you can create a profit buffer with the right trades that you make. This buffer will be sufficient enough to catch up occasional losses by trades gone wrong since you can't predict the market. I am of course referring to trading Bitcoin and not altcoins. Altcoins fit in a totally different category, which I personally believe is in fact very close to gambling.

Having a chance to lose doesn't make it gambling, having a huge uncertainty doesn't make it gambling either. In casino gambling you are an underdog, in trading  you can have a positive expectation.

I finally made Hero Member although there are so many Legendary Members around now that even a Hero account seems pretty lowly Sad

Yes, heroes aren't what they used to be.

Don't worry, in another 2 years you'll make legendary - just in time for that to be totally out of style.

Welcome to the game of life sucks!  Grin

haha exactly after a few years while the status will change again and legendary will just mean kind of an old and active member.

It could be written a number next to your username, 1 for the most active/senior member then 2, 3 ect.
215  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 25, 2016, 02:39:23 PM
The FED will have to acknowledged that we are in a recession after the us presidential election then it will probably ease even more so the $ will drop and the bictoin will gain nominal value as well as real value.

The US economic fundamentals are great for Bitcoin :

The FED raised interest rates of 0.25 which shows the economy is very weak and can't afford higher interest rates. In years of so called tightening policy it raised interest rates of only 0.5 and they still are at historically low levels. The FED didn't shrink the balance sheet either and is reinvesting interests from maturing bonds.

When the sh.it will hit the fan and bubbles will burst, the $ value will likely go down so the Bitcoin value in $ and in real terms will go up.

Bitcoin needs more good publicity but it will get it when the price will soars, it needs to be more and more adopted, in what proportion is it the case ?
216  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: October 12, 2016, 09:03:43 AM
I totally regret not to have bought more coins when I had the chance to buy them around $200!  I still believe that has been my worst decision so far because I was completely sure that the $200 mark was way too low.
I have to live with it.  Smiley

it's at 636 $ so you would have made a nice margin but it will probably go up to thousands of $ within a span of twelve years so there is still a lot of nominal gains to make to secure you savings

Betting,  using the bitcoins to pay for real goods before the price reached amazing new highs
219  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: August 28, 2016, 06:50:29 PM
I would prefer bitcoin, because at any moment I could trade it into things such as gold.

That argument is wrong. Both Bitcoin and gold can be used to purchase other stuff. There are online marketplaces, where you can purchase gold bullion bars and other stuff using your coins. And similarly, you can barter your bullion bars for jewelry and other stuff using a pawn shop. So there is not much difference between the two.

If you want to be protected against adverse events, you should have enough gold in at least 2 countries and at least 3 locations and enough bitcoin on a secure wallet.

Is there a thread where I can post my referral link ?
No there's no thread where you could share your refferal link if someone would make one it would only lead to referral spam which is against the forum's rule. The only way you can share them is by adding it in your signature.

ok thanks, I thought there might be a thread with a chain of referal.

any ideas how I could get lots of referals ? :-)
