"If the flash goes bad" are you talking about some sort of a drive or the Custom BIOS file?

If the file itself is bad... it was made by a 3rd party as well.

I know the laptops will allow you to make an old FAT partition, and put just the .HDR and .BIN files onto the flash's root, and boot while holding a button;  but that is the laptop series devices.

All of the server stuff, only has instructions/details for using the F12 option during POST;  which is not possible if the flash goes bad.
202  Other / Serious discussion / Custom Dell Precision server BIOS question on: October 18, 2019, 03:45:16 AM
So... I am at an impasse.

I have a Dell Precision R5400.

I purchased 2x x5460 (SLANP) CPU's and am maxing it out with 64Gb ECC Reg-F.   The cpu's were reported to be compatible.

Installed them;  get through post and it says processors are incompatible and doesn't continue the boot. (If they were truly incompatible, it wouldn't even go through POST).   The CPU's just aren't in the BIOS's list as "supported" even though they actually work.  Updated BIOS to the current A10 version, still same message (annoying, as its just a BIOS simple check that if wasn't there, everything would work fine)

I have found a custom BIOS to reflash to it to supposedly unlock it and let these processors work in it. (R5500A10.HDR)
The Ubuntu dell bios tool works and can read my current BIOS no prob.  Good news there...  I also upgraded it to the current A10 BIOS the other day while installing the new RAM   and CPU's under windows 10;  no issues at all...

Now here is the rub:  if the flash goes bad;  is there any way to recover short of using a chip clip on the on-board bios and hard-flashing it manually?   The only information I can find rely on the BIOS to reflash the machine, etc.... and the only BIOS recovery on bad flash options I have seen are related to their laptops.....

So...

I have the custom bios all ready to apply in linux, but haven't hit the button yet, for fear of ending up with a brick and bringing my main VPN and other services crashing down for who knows how long....

Anyone with experience in the matter of flashing custom BIOS's to dell servers that has any comments would be much appreciated.
203  Other / Meta / Re: Funny since the Cryptotalk campaign came/ pour in your heart here about yobit. on: October 18, 2019, 03:33:35 AM
Nothing says you can't denounce the same banner you have in your sig;  just below the sig.    I successfully used a modified signature for years when with the yoshit campaign.

Yes, no one says that. But that's the very definition of a hypocrite. Why would you even join the campaign then? Why would you even wear the very signature of the campaign? If you're just to denounce it, it doesn't make sense.

You would have to be stupid to use cryptotalk instead;   besides;  that place is gonna be a shitpost cesspool that people post on purely for a payment.... it will be short lived I believe.

I don't really have a reason to denounce the campaign as this is my first time joining. You're right tho, it really does fill with people who are purely doing it for the payment. As for me, since I'm doing something that I liked to do (mostly reading through the shitiest, most informative, most hilarious threads of this forum; AND sharing what I know), might as well earn something. It's helping me a lot, not only financially but also in gaining knowledge, especially with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. Heck, I'm learning even more about this forum.

hypocrite?  no...

Just because someone pays you to wear an advert;  in no way says you believe in their product or endorse it.   (Citing example being many TV AD/product campaigns/advertisements; pick any.. just because the lettered broadcaster broadcast it;  doesnt mean they support or approve of it [whatever 'it' may be];  they are simply paid to display 'it'.)

There are lengthy threads out there with attacks on me;  for a displayed link....  while in the outright I clearly stated my rationale and intentions behind everything.

I'm not saying all of the new posters here will be of the caliber I commented earlier;  but the method of this campaign and who controls it (from yoshit):  breeds a bad percentage of unwanted garbage;  not to mention the shady behind the curtains actions and business model they run.

I can understand the need for anonymity,  but in many respects: this is not the type of business that should be run the way they do.

I went for the nvidia  should arrive in a few days.

if I were in your shoes, my choice would be the same
or there could be some alternative, here is the point. taking into account the sizes of nowadays games or movies, I could go for a 1TB SSD drive.

id always vote invidia over the resaqle value alone, second to its reliability and cost/performance they have always given in recent years.

This Cryptotalk campaign surely offers lucrative payment compared to the other BTC paid campaigns at the moment. I confess that I was tempted at first, plus with boss yahoo involvement, make it more appealing. However, I realized that if this campaign successfully sucks people out of the Bitcointalk community to the Cryptotalk. It means that what I have done here becomes pointless since I have to build an account there from noobs, getting harassed, etc.

No thanks, I would rather here with this community, even with the game-protect who consistently "entertains" the gamblers.

Nothing says you can't denounce the same banner you have in your sig;  just below the sig.    I successfully used a modified signature for years when with the yoshit campaign.

Now let's show some numbers Smiley In the past 7 days, this many users have posted:
Legendary: 506 users
Hero Member: 509 users
Sr. Member: 841 users
A few more are hiding as Copper Member, Staff or other rank too.

Earlier this month, suchmoon counted 451 participants in the recent Yobit campaign. Some of those had lower ranks, and by now many have been banned from the campaign by yahoo62278, and a lower number has been banned from the forum.

Based on those numbers, I'm not surprised those users choose the higher Bitcoin payment over Tokens made up out of thin air. But what I'm really interested in, is if they don't have enough accounts left to join the bounties too: how many more "spare" accounts are owned by spammers? If this really is the better part of all high-ranking accounts, that means spammers are finally running out! More than 1.5 years after the introduction of Merit, that would be a small victory, even though it creates some temporary spam.

interesting;  is it possible to derive statistics/post counts for the users for the same amount of time prior to their joining the campaign and compare to while in the campaign?  This can show any potential of posting habits changed based on having a sig...

not saying its necessary, but would be interesting data.
207  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion For More Effective Flag Format on: October 13, 2019, 11:38:25 PM
have a section for these specific threads to reside.   Make that section unable to self-moderate.  Problem solved, and an elegant solution altogether.   Use this thread for "reference" link; and have it contain all partaining data in that thread in the special section.
208  Other / Meta / Re: Funny since the Cryptotalk campaign came. on: October 13, 2019, 11:35:30 PM
originally, I joined the YoShit campaign years back because someone noticed I posted so much I should join a campaign and get paid for it....
Highest paid with fewest restrictions was yobit (0.0003/post back then).... so I went for it.
I mean, just on an average day of random replies and help to others during the big pushes, I was making well over $10-$20/day sometimes... just for shit I was doing already.

Fast forward a few years later, and all the sudden the sig is banned.....   and I find myself falling into the position I am in now.
I wont sign back up to them,   no way in hell....   Not worth the heartache in the end at this juncture.

I believe the current campaign at this juncture has already breached the rules TBH.    In order to add people in the past (originally if memory serves) you needed to have your posts vetted before even being added to a sig campaign, on top of being a ranked member.

Imagine campaigns having to vet the members for a change.... what a concept....
Imagine where the blame for 'members bad participation skills' after joining the sig campaign will be placed?  How easy would it be able to control then?

I don't see sig campaigns being a good thing for the site in the end after seeing both sides of the coin.     I mean, free crypto is free crypto..... but it truly comes at a major cost; which in the grand picture is not worth it.

Why do I feel like I just finished a border wall debate/conversation with someone?  Roll Eyes
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BUBBLE || alpha software in testing demo up big news on: October 13, 2019, 03:50:44 AM
Heres the scoop for getting it set up properly:

completely close the bubble client.

go to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\appdata\Roaming\Bubble

create a file: bubble.conf with these contents:
Code:
addnode=98.28.193.120
addnode=73.38.41.211:3665
addnode=76.180.145.102:3665
addnode=85.25.199.215:3665
addnode=75.130.163.51:3665
addnode=68.184.180.69:3665
addnode=151.80.42.180:15716
addnode=47.35.228.146:15716
addnode=75.138.192.59:15716
addnode=97.93.29.195:15716

delete anything found in the \appdata\Roaming\Bubble\database folder as well

restart bubble and wait;  should sync up.

you could manually add the nodes in the client;  but they wont save if the client restarts.... so the .conf file is the best bet.  Took me a while to figure that out initially many moons ago when I initially got into BUB.

If it gets stalled at the same percentage for a full day or half a day, delete the contents of the database folder and try again.   On one machine it took me multiple tries to get right.  The last 1/4 of the syncing takes quite a bit longer... so give it time.. it will happen.

Updated node that IP changed recently;  here it is with the instructions for setting up your wallet as well.

Its soo borderline and non definitive... but, the obviousness in all of it is sickening.

212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Internet Disconnections and Slowing While Mining on: October 01, 2019, 01:17:51 AM
I am having internet connection issues while mining. I am using Claymore and I have a RX580. It is not only disconnection but also  can't do anything else while the miner program is running and mining. I tried some solutions that I have found around and non of them seems to be working for me.

Any ideas about how to overcome this issue? Is it about my router or the internet connection speed? I tried another source for the internet and got the same problem by the way.

Another thing is, I can use the wi-fi through other devices but not the computer that does the mining.

its the claymore miner that is hosing up your system.

it is eating up the resources necessary to update the GUI of windows, and other processes.  This is why the system is unusable.

Change your mining intensity down enough to make the system usable.   This will be a major hit in hashrate for you.

This is the plain and simple truth when spoken towards your initial statement.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Monero Miner without Cuda Nvidia or Amd on: September 30, 2019, 01:31:00 AM
My troll radar starts pinging when after two days the OP still hasn't posted the most important and obvious
piece of information, even after being asked.

Anyway it's not the Cuda version it was compiled with that's important, it's the compute capability(s) it
was compiled for.

GPUs will only support compute capabilities equal to or below their spec. The miner must be compiled with,
at least, one compute capability supported by the GPU. When multiple versions are supported the highest
supported version will be chosen at run time.

https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus

To run a pre-compiled miner you don't need the Cuda toolkit, just the latest Nvidia driver. If the miner you're
using doesn't support your GPU (the one we still don't know the model of) then you need to find
a miner that does or compile one from source with a supported compute capability, if the source code is
available.

To compile from source you will need Cuda toolkit and a lot more. Even then the source code may not support
the older compute capability. If the miner is young it may not support old cards at all.

This.  You are right about compute;  I knew it was something specific, but generalized it.  Thanks for clearing it up.

100% agreed with Low quality replies and OP responses.... feels like a troll, maybe because of some of the replies.... but OP do realize: you can not avoid the necessary.

We will see how long this goes on.

The obvious others not reading the replies either, and spitting out nonsense that doesn't apply to the stated original question, going on a tangent...  annoying at best.

If it keeps up, ill flag it myself and stop this nonsense from continuing.

Hello guys
Is there any GPU miner that's mine without cuda because
When I download xmrrig I had problem running it the problem is ( No cuda device found )  Huh can any one helps me with the problem or gives me a miner that's  mine without cuda toolkit
And Thanks
please replay with your computer information ,processor and video cards -built in motherboards or amd or nvidia-.
you can use programs like HWiNFO to get computer information.

Operation System:Windows 8.1
Gpu:nvidia
Processor core i7
Ineed a GPU miner that's mine without atoolkit like cuda because the size of cuda is to big to download and thanks

This will not work.

If you don't want to use the toolkit (what comes in the video cards driver), then you can only use the CPU to mine.  You can't use the GPU for advanced computations without using the toolkit that can utilize the functions in the GPU.

If you go to nvidia's website and install the current driver:  the miner will work as long as it was compiled with the same/compatible version of cuda.  If your miner was compiled in Cuda 10;  cuda 7.5 and earlier devices will not work (like a GTX 550ti), you would need to have a miner that was compiled using cuda 7.5 to use that 550ti as the 550ti does not work with cuda 10.

This is why I mentioned earlier that your video card model matters as to what miner is compatible with whatever version of cuda your video card driver works/comes with.

Please try and understand that the video driver contains what is necessary to use the video card and is necessary to utilize it.  Stating the download is too big wont change the fact you need the actual driver from nvidia.

fake volume?   Yes.  I have seen it (see my sig).

Ironically, they have always paid me in the past, but no sense on testing those waters again.   Im staying away while im far ahead of them.

Before there were minimum post amounts, now there is a maximum; which is good... but no good comes from yobit anymore.

you need a miner that is compiled with the toolset/codeset that your GPU uses.

I.E. an older card generally needs an app compiled with cuda 7.5 or earlier.....  look up the cuda version compatibility chart for your device.

218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to send commands/get data from Claymore's miner over local network? on: September 17, 2019, 11:51:55 PM
read up on the miner's "API"
There isn't anything to read up on the Miner's API, they havn't documented anything.

typically;  the API binds automatically to some port; and you will have to look up how to interface with the API yourself if you don't use someone else's pre-configured/coded program.
Typically for a custom set of API data, you would have to write a program or script to send data to the remote (or local) port(s) and listen for a return of data to display to you....
Yes I know I have to write a program, that's why i'm asking what endpoints they expose

https://www.google.com/search?q=claymore+miner+API

documeted plenty of places, that's where there's soo many different miner managers that can interface with its API.... search my friend.  Answers are out there.

Example is: one of the top results from that search was this https://gist.github.com/ivy/bba124115affcd596448616a5ac13fed

The Eth devs are so paralyzed by fear and indecision that I don't put any faith in anything from them until after it happens.

Yeah pretty much the truth.

Morons.

I haven't trusted eth from the very beginning because of it's author's, it's security (to me its on the same level of trust as Adobe flash and Java), and it's centralization.... not to mention the circulating supply growth.

I am truly amazed it went from 10-1000, and i really don't expect it to last forever....   then again, Adobe flash is still a thing coming close to 2020.....
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Yiimp mining 2 different coins with the same algo on: August 31, 2019, 06:51:19 AM
m= and mc= are pool options to be specified in password field. Your miner is not supposed to interpret or support those.

I know I have tested, this option is not supported by cpuminer.

no mc option should I report my answers?

https://rehmann.co/blog/cpuminer-help/

I have posted the cpuminer version, the command line I use, please guys, read the post before answering, if you don't know the answers, go somewhere else.

mc= is a option for yiimp;  not your miner; your miner is served workunits via stratum from the pool.

Check yiimp's documentation on how parameters are passed to it through the password input.

You are not understanding yiimp fully.... I hope this example helps:

Username : 1gtxc.......
Password  : c=BTC,mc=XRP,d=5.5

once you understand, my original answer will begin to make more sense.

In that https://github.com/tpruvot/yiimp/blob/next/stratum/user.cpp snippet;  you fail to understand it stores the whole password into the sql database; and any function can call and check the contents of it potentially... somewhere like the coin to mine selection portion of code....      yiimp is very complex....

zpool uses zap=COIN not mc=COIN....   so in theory, you could yourself add a single function there in that specific set of code to set the correct variable for coin selection;  but you gotta also take into account all the portions of code that could set it as well after that initial call to take in the password and store the data in the SQL database.
