201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery Fever. What are your range of thoughts in response to Lucky Winners? on: April 26, 2024, 10:15:14 AM
Not sure if I can still try my luck in gambling specially in lottery because I am not as lucky as others. because as far as I remember ? i tried betting in lotto for couple of years and indeed just a few small wins that I gather and my losses are truly huge so maybe this fever is not for me to enjoy lol.

Maybe you should try other type of gambling because maybe you aren't lucky when it comes to lottery but in slot games or sports betting you can make a win? Why not give it a try, that's what you should do, explore other gambling activities and just don't focus in 1 game. You already saw and experience that your chances of winning in lotto is very low which indicates that you should try other because if you will continue playing that game, possible that you will lose more.
202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Claw Machines: a category of gambling? on: April 26, 2024, 09:54:29 AM
Hahahhaha very very good question is Claw Machines: a category of gambling? Claw machine is everywhere and kid loves it, adult people loves it I mean who dont like this game hahahah and this is personal opinion but I would condider claw machine as mini gambling machine  Grin why because I heard that the owner of the claw machines can setup how much power the claw is and if you have weak claw meaning you need extra careful and focus to win the prize

Do you consider this a category of gambling game? Mini gambling machine yes hahahha but this is JuST IMo
What are the chances on long run? Skills matter, or do you have to be lucky, nevertheless? chances are good especially if you have skill a focus and yes luck are needed too

So you mean, It's real that some claw machine has been set up? that's why sometimes there's a low chance of winning because the claw didn't work well even if you already placed it correctly in your target item. If that's the case, They tricked their customer in order to play more and more until they get at least 1 item from that machine, It is considered as a type of mini gambling and just a normal game at the same time because it gives us an exciting and interesting game while spending A lot of money.
203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where would you prefer to watch your favorite team? on: April 26, 2024, 09:40:09 AM
But it use to cause so much trouble in the center  because there are some people who will be smoking...

And, there are some people who will be drinking alcohol when their team are winning at the moment...
Smoking you mean by ciggars? I don't think it's legal and allowed to smoke in the public place such as the gaming/sports complex/center, guards are always patrolling on such area, not unless if it's allowed by your government to smoke anywhere, the same rules and regulations on drinking alcohols on public places.

I think there's a smoking area in any sports complex but not cigarrettes, by using Vape or E-cigar only, not really sure so correct me if I'm wrong? because here in my place, I saw a signage of smoking area but they aren't allowed you to enter any cigarettes, vape only. But I agree that it shouldn't allow because there are some people who really hates or not allowed to inhale any smoke from.cigarettes due to some health issues.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: April 26, 2024, 06:56:35 AM
I myself have never done anything crazy to bet, because I think there is no guarantee of winning and making things better. I gamble appropriately with the money I bet that is what I can afford to lose. and in my opinion those who dare to bet on crazy things like selling property or other things to gamble again, I think they are people who have been hypnotized by gambling, so they think that by continuing to gamble there is a win that can be obtained.
I can't imagine what it would be like if I dared to do something crazy to gamble, for example a gambling addict who has lost all his wealth because of gambling, and he is at the point of frustration by daring to sell his remaining assets such as a house, instead of hoping for his gambling. could give him victory but instead put him at the point of misery. It is really not recommended to do crazy things to gamble, but there have been many cases of people who dare to do crazy things to gamble.

Same here! I'm just wondering, those people who did something crazy about gambling are also those people who really can't control theirselves when it comes to betting, there are things they do that they are not totally aware of, because their minds are only focused on gambling and how to make money or return the money they lost, Because if a person is in the right mindset, they will not create any scandal or trouble in the gambling area.
205  Economy / Economics / Re: What scares me from investing in gold. on: April 26, 2024, 01:50:43 AM
I didn't know that gold was hard to sell. All I know is just go to pawn shops and sell it, I think it's still easy to just invest in ETFs though it would be hard for some people as it's too challenging for them compared to just buying and selling physical golds. For me, I would still prefer investing to cryptocurrency, luckily I managed to get myself curious stick to cryptocurrency.

Other than that, as per the OP the transaction is really expensive, I wouldn't dare to  trade with a 2% fee. I was wondering if this is only in Costco or also in other part of the world.
here in our country, it's not difficult to sell gold, as you said, we usually go directly to pawnshops because they often accept gold items, but they will buy it from you for a low price, so it's your choice whether to sell it at a pawnshop or to other person who collects gold, especially now that gold investment is popular here, many people are interested because it is very easy to buy it as long as you check carefully and see if the carat and gram weight are correct because there are other sellers who sells fake items to their customers.

You are right in what you said, it would be easier if we just invest in ETF but not all of us are aware of digital coins, investment using crypto or other things that are digital, because there are many of us who have not really kept up with what what other investors usually do.
206  Economy / Economics / Re: Starting a business without capital. on: April 25, 2024, 10:03:48 PM
Is very possible starting up a business without capital all you need is your ability of pursuing success.
Affiliate marketing is a business you can venture into without capital and still make good money from it, even more than some businesses started with capital.
Affiliate marketing is the process by which a person earns a commission for marketing another person's products.
All you need to start this business is good communication skill in other to sell the product of the other person and get a commission for doing that.
You can decide to market product of different company or person's at same time by doing this you are sure that everyday someone will buy from one of those product's there by making money every day.
When you become an expert in affiliate marketing you will start making profit every day of your life.

This is absolutely true, but just like with other businesses, It's not easy at first because you need to build your channel and you need to have huge engagement from other socials to gain clients and customers, sometimes you need to spend monetary value to boost your engagement to your post and for it to be delivered or reach the newsfeed of different people. It can actually serves as one of our passive income because all you need to do is to market and to advertise the product or services that you offered then you will gain a commission for every purchases and sometimes the company gives a huge commission like 17-20%. Btw, I do affiliate marketing and the way I advertise my products is by posting videos of a product while unboxing it and gives a good feedback, you need to give an effort to your video so it will caught prospect clients attention.
207  Economy / Economics / Re: It's better to invest now than to regret it in a hospital bed. on: April 25, 2024, 09:10:54 PM
Lol.

If you care with your health, you need to get health insurance, not invest. No one can predict the future, if you have a high paying job and never had serious disease during the time you accumulate Bitcoin, that's good.

But, what if you're sick when you only work after six months? you didn't even have a good amount investment, while health insurance, even you're sick a day after you obtain the health insurance (depends on the insurance), it might cover all of the bills.

if you are really concerned about the future and your health, especially since we are not sure if we will still be healthy in the coming years, we really need to have health insurance, usually for those who work, they have benefits is accepted like the HMO health card so they don't take health insurance anymore but that is applicable or can only be used if you are still employed, so we should also have separate health insurance. There is nothing wrong if we prioritize investing in others, especially in crypto, but make sure that your future purposes are secured, health insurance is also an investment.

Shout out BPI!

210  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gaming strategies on: April 25, 2024, 11:13:46 AM
The best strategy is to rent a movie and decide not to gamble. You're gonna save money in the long run and not be mad at the world because you lost. Any strat that people say is gonna win will eventually lose, so don't risk it.

It depends to a person because sometimes, even if a person has a gambling habit, they can still save money and earn money while doing gambling. Giving them an advice not to gamble is okay but we can't control them especially if a person is very curious about how gambling works, right? So the right thing we should advice to them is to let them know in their own how gambling can affect theirself once they do it. Some strategies that stated by other members here are based on their own experience and strategy, it may vary to other gamblers or course.
211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever Projected how to spend gambling profits while the game has not played yet? on: April 25, 2024, 04:27:25 AM
Who has never made plans hastily when they already knew they would earn extra money?
I myself always spend the extra money I earn a month later on my employer's end-of-year bonuses on my credit card.
However, I have never been so foolish as to make plans with something that was not guaranteed.

Probably, this person you mention was very confident in his bet and something very wrong must have happened hastily to ruin his plans.
In any case, I think the friends were much sadder than the bettor, after all they were counting on getting a free party, which didn't happen.

We have all made mistakes as no one is really perfect, but at the same time there are some mistakes that are understandable and some others that are not, and to me this mistake falls into the latter category.

Since failing to fulfill your promises to your family or your friends is never a good thing, as the next time a person where to assure them he was going to pay the bill, there is no way they are going to trust in him when they have such an example fresh on their memories.
What he did was to inform his acquaintances that they should not trust him because he broke the promise he made to them. That's why there is a saying "don't speak without certainty" because a lot can happen if you lead it with promises. It's true that nobody's perfect, but we should also be aware of the words we say because like what happened to him, his image can be damaged by the people close to him.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: April 25, 2024, 04:07:57 AM
If we know for ourselves that we are the ones who made the gambling bet, and obviously we are the ones to blame for why we lost, it is not right to blame others for our gambling
loss when we ourselves played and bet on gambling.

So for me, it was right that they were sentenced; they were really lucky because they were allowed to get bail, but what they did was not really right.
That's right, we have to admit our own mistakes, it's not right to find someone else to criticize or blame because from the beginning no one pushed you to do that thing, not unless someone else forced you to gamble and against your will , but no, the actions you did are your choice, so we should know how to hold accountability for our own actions because the process of acceptance will only be accelerated if you know for yourself that you made a mistake and not someone else.
213  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Advice for a young millionaire on: April 24, 2024, 01:04:39 PM
i'm not a millionaire so i can't give him too in-depth advice, but i would advise him to be able to deposit his money and use that money for his needs, and then for his father's business he can start learning it slowly until he can master it completely. because after all, it was his father's business and even though he didn't like it, he certainly didn't want to see it destroyed and abandoned. so instead of someone else enjoying it or destroying it, it's better for him to take charge of it.
Agree with you. I'm also not the son of a millionaire, but if you are in the position described by the OP, of course the best advice is to continue learning how to manage your finances well and use your money for productive things, not for waste. . The last one is of course business, study the business left by your father so that it can be continued and developed, even though we don't like it, we have to force this so that over time we can master it and can entrust the business to other people and we can continue the business that we like.

From OP's story we can conclude that it is important to educate our children about finances and educate children about the basics of entrepreneurship so that they can learn empathy, leadership and be independent in making money. So that when we are no longer around, our children can easily continue our business and continue to develop the inheritance we left behind. At least when his parents were gone he didn't just spend the inheritance he left behind but was able to develop it so that it continued to grow.

On point! in order to have more knowledge and expand or spread the business and money left to him by his father, it would really help if he focused more on learning how to handle his own finances but right now, getting his own financial planner is the trend, especially if the child's forte is not managing business or finances, it's hard to insist because it might just make it worse if ever, so it's much better if we ask the person directly if he is willing to the suggestions that other people give him because at the end of the day, it's his own decision to follow.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: April 24, 2024, 12:21:40 PM
But if you do that, you won't have the privilege of enjoying your gambling because you're spending your time worried at the back of your mind that you're losing this (what you could be losing at that session) much. For me, it's better off if you don't think of what you could lose and what you could win, focus on what matters at the moment which is the game that you're currently playing, you can't change the outcome if you think or worry about it, just do what you have to do and worry about the consequences later, the it's not called a hindsight if you do it along the way.

IMO if a gambler is thinking of how much he/she will win on gamble they will not be comfortable when they lose, it's a common thing that happens almost everyday. Focusing on how much you can lose on bet can influence a gambler that starts gambling newly not to spend too much money on gamble. Because if he have some money he can be able to think that if he lose everything there will be no leftover cash for him. So not thinking of how much you can earn from gamble is better than imagining how much you can earn, such thought can make one to lose more money.

I think, it's better if we don't think about how much our possible win or loss is to avoid expectations and disappointments, and if we always think about what we will lose, maybe we will only manifest the losses instead of the winnings because that is what is stamped in our mind. It would be better if we just focus on the game itself while enjoying the moment because the more we think about the possible outcome, the more we lose focus on what we are doing.

215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they on: April 24, 2024, 11:57:19 AM
What are the biggest mistakes made by beginners in online gambling? How can they be avoided?

One of the biggest and very common mistake for those beginners are they fall on what we called "beginners luck"
They assume that they will win again once they repeat the bet because they already won at the beginning, sometimes even though they have been told that they should be aware and conscious when they experience it, they still do not follow the advice given because they are already trapped in the idea that they need to continue betting because if they stop, the opportunity to win may be wasted.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: April 24, 2024, 10:34:02 AM
Reckless gambler risk more, and it does not matter if he is rich, poor. Gambling is very flexible. Everyone is able to place a bet with ridiculous odd. Ok, the rich gambler can make more bets, but I think that he and poor gambler will stick to more or less same odd range. People arent stupid. Both rich and poor not going to risk more or less for nothing.

Yup! No matter how rich or poor you are, if you are a reckless gambler or an addict, you'll get a chance to win or lose. Aside from everyone is able to place a bet, Everyone can be addicted into it, sometimes we will see a lot of poor gambler suffering in addiction and has an audacity to gamble and place larger bet more even if they don't have money to sustain their vices, Did you know why? because they can't control theirself even if they really want to get rid of it, they can't because the addiction flows to their mind down to their body and that's one thing that we need to prevent.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: After losing the money in gambling, what is your strategy on: April 24, 2024, 09:27:05 AM

Trying to gamble again after losing, of course this is because it is very difficult for us to control ourselves in gambling activities and looking for loans to be able to fulfill their gambling desires, of course this will be very risky if they cannot pay off the loans they have made and for them Those who have gambled like that, of course, are very addicted to gambling and will use various methods to fulfill their gambling desires, which of course will be very detrimental to themselves.

After a loss, the urge to gamble may increase and the tendencies to become more destructive. As a result, his tendency to win more chases and tries to borrow from anywhere. This is basically what gambling addiction is all about. He should understand that he can lose again. Losing tendencies make him end all at once which is by no means desirable.

Exactly! having a gambling losses may leads to a person to gamble more because the urge of wanting to recover their losses is at peak point of their emotions especially if that person is suffering to a gambling addiction. Those gamblers should know how to pause for a while, control their emotions and assess theirself before doing a decision to gamble again because the possibility of loss is there.
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online casino gambling is more of profit chasers while land base is more of fun on: April 24, 2024, 09:03:50 AM
What is your opinion towards my research that online casino gambling has more of possesed players who stakes to make profits while the land base gambling is more of players who stakes for funs?

I think it depends to the community? Especially now that people are looking for more convenient way just to have fun, some of them are seeing online gambling as one of their way to kill their spare time but some gamblers are seeing it as one way to earn money, and about the land base, same to the online gambling, they seeing it as for fun and for earning money but this is not convenient to the majority, only those rich and has priviledge to play there are fit in playing in land based casino.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lies told to cover up gambling habit on: April 23, 2024, 09:07:00 PM
Hi gamblers, greetings to everyone..

So today, I was scrolling through my reddit feed, and I came across this post in the screenshot I share below..

After reading that post, I quickly remembered what I did some years back when I was still pretty much new to gambling and was kind of obsessed with it at that time, I remember it was on Sunday late morning after we came back from church, I darely needed to play some gambling game, but the children were running around the house making lots of noise, the little one will not stop climbing me, we've already had breakfast and my wife was busy watching a movie.
I left her and the children in the sitting room, took my phone and laptop and went into our third room reserved for visitors and locked myself in there, and started gambling, I was playing slot and casino games, and in between, I was also analyzing some upcoming sports matches to find suitable ones to place bet on.

More than 1 hour later, my wife came looking for me, and possibly was surprised i locked myself in the guest room, she inquired to know why, I told her I was studying some very important course online, and needed no disturbance at all, that was why I went to the guest room, she stood there, whether she believed or not, I do not know, I just know that she went her way after some seconds 😂😂.

So, when I came across that post on reddit, I couldn't help but laugh really hard, and also imagined how many of us gamblers out there are telling one lie or the other just to cover up our gambling habit..

I have a friend who lost a huge amount of money to gambling, and returning home that night, he lied to his wife that he was robbed, when the woman (being suspecious) asked why he was not beaten by the robbers, he got angry at her and almost beat her that night 🤣.

Have you told any gambling related lie before? Please share, let's read and have fun.

no matter which angle we look at it, what you are doing is cheating because you are keeping secrets, especially with spouses and the topic of financial discussion here,  our partners should know what activities we are obsessed with now so incase there is a problem they can help us. With that kind of secrecy, fights or problems in a family start, so you should be more transparent with our partners to avoid problems in the future. I haven't experience keeping a secret to my partner eversince especially that money is involve because it may cause a big problem to us and I don't want that to happen. I will choose my own family than my leisures so gamble at your own risk.
220  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: April 23, 2024, 12:21:34 PM
One of my colleagues told me that his salary is lower now than it was five years ago. Sadly, the price of goods is rising.
If the salary he gets is lower than five years ago then he has to look for another job whose salary can meet current needs, but I guess that what is meant by lower than five years ago is the value, not the amount, and that is the result of inflation so over time It will be increasingly difficult for people to meet their basic needs if their income is fixed or the increase is not commensurate with the increase in inflation.
Your colleague needs additional income and is starting to plan investments so that the increase in groceries doesn't make it difficult for him to keep buying them, and it cannot be denied that those who live in poor or developing countries have difficulty increasing their income because of limited job opportunities.

People in the third world or poor countries will feel this most clearly. Wages do not increase much while commodity prices increase day by day, making people's lives increasingly difficult. But one thing we need to realize is that the government won't be able to improve anything, they don't have any solutions for that so what we can do is adapt to them. By all means, we must find additional sources of income, otherwise we will be eliminated from this harsh society. Save yourself, don't rely on the government.

This is exactly what we need to do, believe it or not, those in government are just fooling us so it's better that we put ourselves first because nothing will happen if we continue to rely on what they do, we are the one who will adjust to what is happening because if we don't prioritize ourselves, we will be left behind. Yeah right, the only thing that we can do is to adapt the changes and just go with the flow.
