1081  Economy / Economics / Re: New business idea. on: December 03, 2023, 07:51:18 AM
Groundnut oil is very good business idea but it may be popular in your country Nigeria and it's has huge demand, if there is a high demand for it then surely it can be profitable business for you. But in my country little demand for it and i think it will cost too much to produce this oil so it won't be successful business.
This idea is very popular as you know, oil is one of the essentials to every people, especially in their country that this is one of the most used oil and nigeria is one of the most largest country produce this product. Planning to do it as a business will surely become profitable. OP posted it here instead in their local forum shows that he wants to gatekeep this idea because it will give a hint to some nigerians to do this as their business.

1083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kids and Bitcoin on: December 03, 2023, 06:22:30 AM
For those ages seven to 11 who are not old enough to learn about Bitcoin, give them the opportunity to grow up on their own without pressuring them to learn Bitcoin at this early age. How much can a seven-year-old child learn about Bitcoin? I think a seven-year-old child would be adversely affected by the amount he could learn about Bitcoin. Besides allowing a seven-year-old child to grow naturally, you can teach him some English as well as some of your local language. As your child grows up try to teach him about other things gradually and when he is roughly approaching adulthood you can teach him about Bitcoin which will be useful to him.
That is the age for them to enjoy being a normal kid, I think the right age to learn about bitcoin is at the age of 17 and above, unless a child has a matured mindset and very eager to know every details about crypto despite their young age  then let them be, let them learn in their own will, not by forcing them to learn and engage in this kind of activity. Every child has their own passion, so for the parents out there, just support them while guiding them in their decisions.
1084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Why haven't the earliest participants sold their Bitcoin, and some haven't even on: December 03, 2023, 05:13:52 AM
I strongly believe that Bitcoin early birds were very smart enough to get hold of the system smartly. Most of the dormant wallet you see holding Bitcoin for years are just alternate wallets by those who were opportuned to get hold of Bitcoin and they decided to hodle some of their wallet for a very long time while they merry with other wallets holding some worth portion of Bitcoin to sustain themselves.

However, some might be as a misplaced key phrase which the owner has long lost access to or death of the owners as already mentioned by other members here.
possible that they have various reason why they really want to hold their coins for a very long time. It's a case to case basis. There are some kind of investors who have set a proper timeline before they sell their investments, as long as they have enough money and savings for their daily needs, they don't have to move their investments unless there's a crucial reason to use it.

I read something here in forum before that one of the reasons why they haven't sell their hodling is because it's been so long, that they can't remember where their wallet IDs are, just like what you've mentioned, some of them misplaced their key phrase and Other reason is about technical issues just like Lost device and computer system issues.
1085  Economy / Economics / Re: What class of an investor are you? on: December 03, 2023, 04:59:39 AM
Being an investor is one of the best ways to make money or earn money, as long as the investment you make is right. Because if you are a class of investors who only spend money and don't think carefully about the investment, your capital investment will be wasted.

That's why we should be wise investors and don't be like investors who are always scammed by scammers, but other investors don't really have anything to bring; they should learn, of course. That's why I'm researching coins to invest in here in the crypto space.

Precisely! Being an investor, your goal is to achieve your expected value of your investment. before you consider to invest, first thing that you must to do is to make a research about the project that you want to invest, analyze and make a study about it so that the money you will put in it will not be wasted in the future. If investment is your forte, for sure that you already experienced being scammed by others, it really happens to a new investors because they are quick to believe even without sufficient explanation and evidence about the project and that's one of the main reason why pioneer investors already know what they are going to do prior investing their money in a prospect project.
1086  Economy / Economics / Re: How to be more effective working remotely. on: December 03, 2023, 04:48:08 AM
Working from home has actually become a double-edged sword to a lot of workers. It would have been better if working from home remains to have fixed time setup. The problem is that there isn't to many workers. I have heard of complaints from teachers here in my place that working from home has actually made them a lot busier than it was when they worked at school. They're now heavily loaded that the time they're spending working has actually increased. So while you're working from the comforts of your home, it isn't a big deal since you're still too absorbed in your work.

working at home means you are doing two jobs at once actually, as someone who has a family, I always work on my online business and also open forums at home, so often my time clashes, my time has been very chaotic, I  can't control my time to take care of everything because my child is sick, well, I really have to do this, because everything is my responsibility, and I get through everything smoothly, I haven't worked outside the home for a long time, actually I quite miss work pressure when working outside the home lol.
if you are given a chance to work remotedly, you have an opportunity to multitask and to have additional work because you can allocate your time base on your own schedule and at the same time if you have your own fsmily, you will be having more time with them. Working at home is a blessing to everyone because you dont have to report at the office daily, especially if your location is far from your reporting site, It is very convenient to all of us. Just like me, I have my full time job while I'm doing here in forum, I can set a proper schedule in posting here after my full time job shift.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Keeping Numbers Or You Allow The Machine To Pick Your Numbers To Bet on: December 03, 2023, 03:58:23 AM
The lottery is very popular here in our country you can find lotto outlets in almost every corner of our city, and there's always a long line whenever the top prize balloons I frequently bet in a lottery but every time I bet I just mark the LP sign in a lotto form which means Lucky Pick that is the machine will be the one to pick the numbers for you.

My reason is I don't want to have attachments on numbers that I'm going to bet because it will make me a lotto betting addict, some bettors keep their favorite numbers to bet and they make sure that they bet on it daily in fear that it will come out when they failed to make a bet.

In your country do you have this LP lucky pick feature in the lotto form and do you choose LP to make a bet for you or are you keeping numbers to bet, what are your reasons, and what's your success rate?

Oh! seeing the photo attached, we're on the same country. I've used to buy and  bet in this lotto ticket and I have my own number combination, I kept it for how many years, actually it's our family lucky pick numbers wherein numbers are very sentimental to us. We used to win in minor prizes and there's an instances that our 6 digits numbers was once the winning number but unfortunately, Anyone in our family members didn't placed a bet on that day and that's one of our unforgettable and regretful moments.
1088  Economy / Economics / Re: What class of an investor are you? on: December 02, 2023, 02:11:34 PM
I belong to a different class of investors, those who invest themselves and most often my investments tend to 0 Smiley)) but I don’t get upset and continue to do it, because this is my hobby.  The main thing is not to get upset) and invest only the amount that you can lose and not regret.

Good thing that you already know what are you supposed to do, which is having a mindset that you will invest with the amount that you are willing and afford to lose only..Investment has a bit similarity in gambling, always remind yourself that it's not always a win and lose. At its most basic level, investment risk includes the possibility of a complete loss. As you've mentioned, your investments tends to come $0.00, why not try to do something or some kind of strategy since as an investor, you need to to understand classic investment strategy,
1089  Economy / Economics / Re: Idea and money are very important to investment. on: December 02, 2023, 12:59:25 PM
Do you believe idea and money are very important in investment? Or can you succeed with money without idea in that investment.
How can you succeed in the first place if you're entering in a field that you have no knowledge at all? Everyone who's starting at something, especially in investments, they need to study and learn first in order to have an idea in mind what's their goal and how to achieve it. Even if you already have enough money to lose when starting an investment, you wouldn't want to waste your money by doing something you have no idea at all. Everything starts with an idea before it becomes a reality. You may have use your own money without having any idea in an investment, but you'd probably use other people and their idea for that. And that would still require a knowledge and idea for it to succeed.
On point! nowadays, we need to be more cautious and mindful when it come to put up a business or investments, we need to be more knowledgeable because money is involve once we started it. We all know how inflation rate in different countries affects people's daily life that's why we need to prevent wasting money. Before we decided to invest, you need to have enough funds for investment only. Have a plan, prioritize saving, and know the power of compounding. Lastly, the important part is never invest in something you do not fully understand.
1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a quick rich and get poorer investment. on: December 01, 2023, 10:33:49 AM
Bitcoin cannot not make you poor when you know what you are doing and is more valuable and can make you rich when you wisely trade in futures.

Bitcoin can make its holders poor, because there's no mechanism that prevents it from crashing. Its price is dictated by supply and demand, and those are not predictable, because no one knows how people will behave. It's entirely possible that someone will put all their savings or wealth into Bitcoin and then it will crash and ruin their life.

So far Bitcoin was on average going only up, but there's really no good explanation why, and without understanding it we can't know for how much longer it will keep growing and what will happen after it stops.
Actually you have a point as bitcoin is volatile, we really don't know when it will go up and down but as an investor, it's our responsibilities to review and to check the market so that we are aware on the current state of the coin. If you're into investment, in order not to get broke is to diversify your investments, Although it does not guarantee against loss, but this is the most important component of reaching long range financial goals while minimizing risk.
1091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Solar Superstorm | Impact on the internet and Bitcoin. on: December 01, 2023, 10:15:25 AM
I think that even if there is a solar storm, our internet will not be lost. It may have an effect, but it will not lead to the point where it is said that it is an internet apocalypse. Because how many times has there been a solar storm?

What I know is that there was a solar storm before where we have internet data, but it didn't feel like it affected the internet in general; it might be affected in other parts, not in the scenario that is all places, I just think.

I hope it won't happen because it will cause a huge impact in the economy as all of us needs an internet and electricity in order to perform our task and Job. Living in this digital world, this news is very alarming because if that happens, it will wipe out the internet for how many weeks and possible months that leads to a greater damages such as global communication but there's no substantial evidence that can support the claims about it.
1092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling are mainly for rich and lucky mind. on: December 01, 2023, 10:04:06 AM
a real gambler must wisely have a plan and adhere on rules to actualize it target and rich gamblers stake high in a low game which is possible to win but does not get addicted  because he analyse and strategize before staking so if it is not favourable to you does not mean is not favourable to some lucky persons and these are the mindset of rich person(mind)not of the poor person (mind).
Basically that's the default mindset we all have when we are starting to gamble or going to a place like a casino but most of the time we tend to forget these things due to the heat of the moment either you're losing or winning.

I agree with you, since everyone has been set their limits to their self and for their spending habits but when you're in the situation, it's as if you've forgotten all your plans and limits that you've set. possible that this is the effect to a person once they didn't control their emotions while gambling. As everyone repeatedly advice that you have to be more cautious and responsible to your actions and emotions but it's truly hard to apply once you're in that situation.
1093  Economy / Economics / Re: Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...? on: December 01, 2023, 09:17:09 AM
Any business where today you launch, tomorrow you begin making profit...?

A friend of mine asking me a business idea, and he told me it is a big profit business idea, I'm missing out for not entertaining his advice! He told me everything would be smooth sailing, and very big profit too.

Let's be enterpreneur and make this a mind your own business (MYOB)

I also only want a business that is profitable as soon as I form it legally, register the entity, file for licensing, any paper work, legal business by laws (no selling weeds or explosive).

So the business should be: today I officially launch it, the next day, profit start rolling in, and it would last eternally, the income stream keep coming for the next 999 years, and it would be suffice to self sustain, self reliance include financing every operational cost by itself, and only happy ending. Not a single bad ending.

btw, no selling snake oil. Must have actual product, or service that is consider perishable. Also no to the Elon Musk's infamous tweets "You can sell stock you don't own, short selling is legal only for vestigial reason" bullshit or etc.
In my opinion, building a business now and making money in the future is just a saying or a term. Because just think about what business you can build one day and the next day you can immediately make money. If it's a small scale business, there is. Such as making cakes, chips and/or snacks. Because these goods can be traded directly. But unfortunately this business cannot continue in the long term. Because people will definitely get bored if the trade route is only around their hometown. Maybe if the trade scale was wider, such as between cities, it could definitely be made into a long scale. But here we are talking about the context of a business that is created in one day and can immediately make money. Meanwhile, to be able to create a business on a large scale such as between cities, one day will definitely not be enough to be able to build the business.
We all know that there's no permanent business nowadays, Business owners needs to go along with the trend that's why they need to be innovative so that their customers will not get bored. Here in our country there's a stable traditional business that will cost you a small capital at first and that's what we called "Carinderia"- A type of eatery, It is very popular business here because it provides affordable home-style meals to a customers and it will give you a profit in the long run especially if you build your own customers and you location is in the right place.
1094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Joy of forgotten Bitcoin accounts... on: December 01, 2023, 08:28:56 AM
So, I was just opening my email today....and browsing through the spam and the unsolicited junk email and phishing scams, when my eye caught a name that I have not seen in a few years. I clicked and opened the email and saw that it was a site that I joined over 5 years ago.. but I totally forgot about it.

This email warned me that the site are going to delete all the dormant accounts, so I navigated to the site (manually... not clicking on links) and tried to login. I obviously forgot the password, so I clicked on the "forgot password" option and it allowed me to change my password.

To my surprise, the account was still funded with coins that I deposited almost 5 years ago... and it was worth considerably more now... than what it was worth back then. (I think the Bitcoin price was around $7000+ at the time)

This put a huge smile on my face, because it is the EXPENSIVE holiday season and I need all the money that I can get to fund this silly time of the year.

Have you experienced the same thing..... please share your story with us.  Wink

I haven't experience it yet but It is good to know that you are able to retrieve your account, You're still lucky because 5 years has been passed and you can still claim your own money which has a high value now. very timing that holiday season is coming, enjoy your money and I suggest to keep half of your btc again so that you'll still have your investment and  keep your account and password now so that you will not forget that you have a holdings.
1095  Other / Archival / Re: Wearing Bitcoin Clothing in Public on: December 01, 2023, 08:18:06 AM
Wearing Bitcoin clothes does make people curious, but it doesnt automatically mean you own Bitcoin, does it? Even though I've never worn Bitcoin clothing, it means more to me in a symbolic way than a real one. Your experience is part of a bigger conversation about how visible cryptocurrency fans are. Some people might not want to be bothered by your support for Bitcoin, but does that make it less important?

Bitcoin isnt just about how much its worth; its also about its ideas about decentralized banking. Wearing that kind of clothing could be seen as a sign of support, not always as a sign of control. Shouldnt it be very clear which one this is? It also raises an interesting "pseudo-problem": Are we overestimating the risk or underestimating the power of open support for new technologies? Its possible that the real weakness is not in the clothes we wear, but in how we protect our digital goods and ourselves.

Yup, they will assume that you're interested in bitcoin that's why you have a customized shirt like that. Even if you have bitcoin merch, It doesn't mean that you own BTC, it's just like a support to this famous crypto coin. Wearing some bitcoin merch in public is really amazing because people who see it thought that you are engaging or supporting bitcoin, especially in today's era when bitcoin is so popular.
1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin investment is the key to success" on: December 01, 2023, 08:09:51 AM
Why are you regretting it? You said it yourself, you sold the BTC for a laptop — for your "essential tasks". What was your alternative? Fail your classes just so you can have more bitcoin?

Don't put too much importance on gains. Because knowledge(depending on what course you're taking and why you're taking it in the first place, I guess) can go a long long way.
There's no need to regret because you already used the money in a good thing. that you have to purchase a thing which is surely helps you in your freelance, studies, as well as here in forum. What really important is you already have knowledge about investing in bitcoin so if ever you have a money to invest, at least you already know what are you going to do with your coins.
1097  Other / Archival / Re: Wearing Bitcoin Clothing in Public on: December 01, 2023, 04:14:22 AM
Has anyone ever tried wearing a Bitcoin clothing in public? I wore mine to an event earlier this week and noticed that most of the young age people were looking at it. One person even asked me if I owned a Bitcoin(which I've answered him ). It just popped into my mind that is it making myself vulnerable to bad people? We are aware that we should keep quiet if we own Bitcoin because of the risk that someone will hurt us or target us so that they could get our Bitcoin.

I have that same shirt and I wear it when I'm going outside or to the mall and some people I think they're looking at me and they're wondering why I have this shirt design, My shirt is personalized and you can't buy it if you're looking it to some online shops, I bet those people are also thinking if I am into bitcoin investment and crypto which is feels good to me because here in our country, if they know that you have an investment or some holdings in bitcoin, they think you are rich and very intelligent person because not all people are capable to venture the crypto world. Though, it has a negative sides because you already expose what you have but then, even if I wear some shirts like that, doesn't mean I have bitcoin holding, What if I'm a fan only. lol
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin story on: December 01, 2023, 03:17:02 AM
I think there have already been children's stories about Bitcoin. There were already cartoon videos made for children as well. Although it's good to let children know about the value of money and this better alternative called Bitcoin, it's not really something that's required for them.

I'm not a child development expert but I guess there are probably a thousand other things that children should be busy about, those that are fit for their age and brain and level of comprehension. And because children are notorious for having short attention span, there should be priorities.
I saw it somewhere in the internet too, That cartoon video that has been made specially for kids. Since in this generation, kids are very adaptive and easy to learn based on what they read or see, If ever that they are engaged in crypto and bitcoin at their young age, they can carry it until they grow old even if we say they will learn a lot of other things, bitcoin will never get out of their mind, As they think about it, they may be more interested in bitcoin because they have already started to have an idea about it when they were young. But it depends on the level of thinking of a children and even depends on their interest because we can't force them to learn something especially if they don't want it so it's better to let them learn it alone.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way to store your seed phrase? on: December 01, 2023, 03:05:17 AM
The best way to store your seed phrase is offline. Aside that online would be regarded unsafe no matter how careful you claim to be.when it comes to offline storage there is actually no best way because the best way is that which you can store it offline without a third party knowing about it.This is because every individual has his special way of storing their seed phrases offline.
so writing on papers or engraving on stone and many others doesn't really matter so long the seed is as safe as possible.

I agree, It's better to keep it offline or better to keep it under both online and offline because there's a pros and cons by doing both. Just like what I did, I keep it in my physical notepad so that I have my copy incase there's an unfortunate happen in my online accounts or mobile devices where I kept it, and the other way is I keep it in my google documents and mobile notepad incase my physical notebook will lost or destroyed unexpectedly. We will do everything just to keep safe our seed phrase and we all have different ways on doing it.
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys, what's the best Bitcoin wallet for PC these days? on: December 01, 2023, 02:34:03 AM
I'm looking for something that's safe of course.
Working with Windows.

Thanks
I suggest you to use Electron wallet, as you can see everyone's here in thread replies are also suggesting this wallet because it is the most popular bitcoin wallet, also it is very easy and convenient to use without any hard wallet needed, But if you really need a secured and looking for a safest way to keep your coins, I suggest you to use a hardware wallet because it has a high level of security since it is not connected in the internet which we all know that the potential hacking attack is happens often if you're using an online wallet.
