L'or ça me semble passé de mode  Grin.

GG to my adversary (for this round at least) @Saint-loup
Thank you bro but it's cool to win with a bit of luck, on an almost upset, from time to time  Cheesy. I hope luck will be with you this time for your round against LTU_btc. There is also a question on City this week btw lol
Anyway it was a disputed but a nice and fair match we had together, so thank you for that and see you next time.  Wink

207  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What's the best way to create a super/meta/mother/master mnemonic seed? on: March 31, 2024, 06:32:13 PM
So your biggest fears are

  • Backup being destroyed by some unexpected event (fire, flood etc).
  • Locking yourself out because you have lost / forgotten the backup of the wallet (or a piece of the backup).

Well in this occasion you are clearly looking for a multisig wallet.
The easiest way to go about it is:
[...]
That's an interesting solution, thank you for detailing it here but unfortunately, neither multisig wallets nor SLIP39(Mnemonic Shamir's Secret Shared) seeds resolve my main issue "For obvious privacy concerns, I would like to be able to use several wallets based on different seeds."  I should have said multiple wallets and multiple seeds.

a sheet of paper can be too easily burnt, torn, erased, lost, eaten...
Let's dissect this:
  • burn: yes. Although a fire proof safe can help a lot.
  • torn: yes. But not accidentally.
  • erased: very unlikely. I've never seen toner disappear during my life, and I expect it to still be readable after centuries.
  • lost: yes. I think this is the biggest risk, since someone else can gain access.
  • eaten: by bugs you mean? Only if wet, so laminate it.
You should have a better ink than mine. Yes bugs can eat paper, but mice too. I don't have mice at home, but if one day I get some it could be too late for my paper once I discover it.

even with a back-up hidden in another place it's not a convenient solution for me, since I can't go to this place whenever I want, especially within few hours when I need to add a new seed.
You could add more seed phrases than you're using, so when you need a new one, all you need is to get the next available one from your local storage, and it's already in your far-away-backup. It takes some planning.
It's a good idea, maybe I should think about it. For me it doesn't look useful and to be the most safe practice to generate seeds long time before using them but it could be the most convenient way to solve my problem actually.
208  Other / Off-topic / Re: Noticing sign of gambling addiction before it gets worst on: March 31, 2024, 05:58:08 PM
I would say it's matter of frequency but rather a matter of amounts wagered IMO. Because if you always bet tiny amounts you are less likely to lose big amounts of money if you gamble on games without high volatility, and without very low RTP of course. But when you start to like the feeling of risking big amounts of money, it starts to be concerning, and you should monitor closely the way you are betting to avoid becoming addict of that feeling and taking more and more risks. It's a sensation close to what extreme sports enthusiasts are seeking finally, when you are aware that what you are betting can have heavy consequences on your life.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Amazing Vintage Slot Machines on: March 31, 2024, 05:44:20 PM
That's beautiful, thank you for sharing this video here with us. But I don't understand with such archaic mecanisms how they could be prefectly (or at least reasonably) random? Players could certainly be able to find some loopholes and patterns into these machines. So I don't know if the game was more risky for the house that is to say the owner of the slot machine or for the player at the end. Anyway it should be fun to see, listen and touch such old gambling machines.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are crash games profitable??? on: March 31, 2024, 05:31:40 PM
Crash games are popular because unlike most online gambling games you can really win big amounts of money and the game plays with this feeling by showing you what you could have won if you had enough balls to bet on a very high multiplier. It frustrates the player by playing with the infamous fear of missing out actually. AFAIK the RTP is not the same for all mulipliers in some crash games (they show a range of RTP instead of one single number). So for this kind of games, there is obviously an actual strategy to lose less money.
211  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake Casino Scam Locking 45k$ Balance on: March 31, 2024, 04:55:45 PM
I wouldn't say they care very much of their reputation here, but if they pay so many people to wear their signature and avatar as an advertising medium, and if they update regularly their thread here, it's not for nothing IMO. Bitcointalk has still a rather big weight in the cryptouniverse and is very well-indexed by Google. So I think updating your thread could be a good way to prevent them from "forgetting" your case and doing whatever they want with you.

About this case here, you better look at the facts, this game is clearly under investigation. Of course stake doesn't pay out (yet), I wouldn't as well if I was the bookie/odds provider. After the investigation is done we will have the final result, before that it's pointless to argue any further.
They should give him an ETA for that, and explain a little bit what is going on if their investigation takes several months, they shouldn't hide it to Askgamblers especially.
212  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Two Kucoin Founders accused of violating anti-laundering laws etc. on: March 31, 2024, 04:45:32 PM
So if you are right there is a real risk of bank run, because if currently all customers assets are not available because of loans or investments, there could be a crash. People would sell all their funds against cryptos in order to be able to quickly withdraw them or they would sell against fiat money. And since Kucoin is a big exchange with a big volume it could affect all the market, in almost the same way as what happened with FTX.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: March 31, 2024, 03:57:37 PM
Ok but do you know how much will take an escrow for holding $1050 during one year? If he takes 10% of the funds it will cost $105. In addition we must be sure he won't leave the forum or getting ill during this year. The other issue to address is the price of BTC during this year. What we will do if it makes +100% or -50%? We will let the funds as they are or we will remove or complete the amount before the ceremony?
214  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Philippines bans Binance on: March 30, 2024, 10:55:01 PM
So far only few countries were restricted by binance, even though some countries already banned binance but users from these countries still uses the exchange. The worst case is if the country it self is very strict that it will make warrants to those who still using the exchange base on the ISP logs.

The only safest way is to avoid using such platform, instead use other alternatives.
If you are using a VPN, your ISP provider won't be able to see you're using Binance, except if you make some mistakes by trying to connect the exchange before launching your VPN for example. But a simple way to solve the problem definitely is to configure DNS-over-HTTPS protocol in your browser, there won't be any risk of any leak anymore and the speed of your connection won't be affected. Philippines' citizens don't even need a VPN to circumvent those restrictions if they use this protocol.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: March 30, 2024, 10:40:16 PM
It appears that I have not made the proposal very clear. If Dune 2 is not nominated for all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay, I lose the bet. Also, if Dune 2 does not win on all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay, I also lose the bet. However, if this movie wins on these 3 categories mentioned, I win 20x of the bet. This is a donation for the other bettor if he accepts hehe.
What do you mean precisely when you say " if Dune 2 does not win on all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay, I also lose the bet". Do you mean if Dune 2 doesn't win an Oscar in any of those categories, that is to say if the movie doesn't win one Oscar award at least in one of these 3 categories?
Usually I don't like betting long time before one event and we are 11 months before but I must confess I find that funny to bet against you on those events. And I am ready to risk $1000 for this fun lol

217  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Two Kucoin Founders accused of violating anti-laundering laws etc. on: March 30, 2024, 09:52:46 PM
It's not surprising to see so many people withdrawing their assets from the exchange because those news are very concerning actually. When exchanges fall down they rarely make warnings before, gently asking people to transfer their funds to another platform or to their wallets for their safety, they usually close their doors with all the assets remaining from their customers instead, unfortunately.
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: March 30, 2024, 09:34:49 PM
Dunno maybe I'm romanticizing things but I remember that in past competitions there used to be more than one favorites, plenty of songs that were objectively good and fit several styles. And quite often an outlier would win too. The quality of the competition has degraded a bit lately. Not only is it less entertaining to watch but also songs are soooo forgettable. Most Eurovision songs that are remembered as "good" are from many years ago. And it's a challenge to remember the lyrics or the beat of many entries, as it was the norm though.

This year's favorite being croatia surely is a different style than the rest, and this electro-rock style is favored lately but certainly it wasn't very noteworthy. So yes I think this year is going to be one of these years where the favorite for betting doesn't come first.
You should be careful because sometimes some songs perform really poorly during the contest but after it, they encounter a nice success. In 2022 it has been the case with Rosa Linn from Armenia and her song SNAP. The song had a great success through Europe and around the world but she only ranked at the 20th position during the competition.
219  Economy / Gambling / Re: My experience on live bet on: March 30, 2024, 08:57:36 PM
You shouldn't bet too much on live bets, because odds are usually very bad and there is always a waiting period between the moment when you try to place your bet and the moment when it is accepted and if an event happens during this time period changing the odds in a bad way for the house your bet will be rejected. It gives a quite large edge to the bookmaker over the bettors and it's very difficult to make any profit in the long run because of that.
Besides that you should try to use the attribute height of bbc tag [img] in order to reduce the size of your pictures like [img height=300] for example.
220  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Stake Casino Scam Locking 45k$ Balance on: March 30, 2024, 08:03:17 PM
I don't think I get about this part too. I can't find Stake explaining this on AG, so I am not sure where does OP get this explanation from. Far as I know, casino will require the KYC process to be completed first before they conduct the investigation of the account, which is where OP's current situation [and where he's stuck] right now. Only after the account being verified will an investigation, findings, and ruling be made.

OP, can you perhaps explain more about this?
I hope for him you're wrong because it would mean they will lock his $45k+ during several more months at least... but if you are right, I don't understand why they didn't tell it since the very first day. It would have taken one sentence to say, the event X you've bet on is under investigation, and we need all those documents from yourself in order to conduct our investigation and to make one decision about your case. But since 2 months they've just said privately they're suspending his account "until the completion of [an] investigation" about "an event [he] wagered on" and on Askgamblers, they don't talk about any ongoing investigation and pretend to just being a matter of bad KYC "due to discrepancies in the information entered at level 1 during the first verification attempt and the present information". Their communication is very confusing and shady, very unprofessional at least for such amount of money. Anyway I wish good luck to OP because their last message on AG says they "would like to inform that we haven't received the requested documents" Roll Eyes lol
