2001  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is the violence in France completely legitimate? on: February 12, 2019, 09:31:28 AM
Pretty much all of the massive media network in Europe has been (at least temporarily) banned from reporting on this anymore.

-snip-
However, after 13 weeks (14 next Saturday) I can tell you that the protest movement is not about to stop.
I watched a livestream from an independent source the other day; it doesn't seem to be going in the direction of stopping, it seems to be growing. You shouldn't stop, so don't let it stop. The French people (among the people of many more countries) have been abused long enough.
Well tons of people hope it won't die. I go to the protests when I'm in France and people in the movement are so desperate I think the only way to stop them completely will be to arrest or kill them.

Sadly considering the number of dictatorial laws passed I think that's exactly what they intend to.

French government just passed a law to allow protest ban of selected people. It will allow them to ban the leaders of the movement one by one until there is really no one left :/
I've heard about that, yes. Well, maybe it is time for the French revolution to really repeat itself. What a lovely manifestation of democracy; but at least we can scream and shout that socialism and communism are bad, right? Roll Eyes

On the internet and in the press everyone seems to be against us.
Ignore them, they are just kool-aid drinking sheep. Independent thinking does not exist for them.

while i do respect your decision as it's personal, i am almost certain that you won't get enough exclusions to get of DT2.
Him asking nicely is not a good enough reason for me to do this and bumping the thread a million times is not going to change that.
2005  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 12, 2019, 08:23:17 AM
The moment Vinny Lingham backs it, you know it is a scam

It seems there are some big blockers supporting smaller blocks in the hopes of destroying bitcoin.
Hahahahahaha
Touché.

Agreed that Vinny is not exactly a trustworthy or credible character in the bitcoin space based on some of his past behaviors.   In other words, whatever Vinny says should be taken with a BIG ass grain of salt.
-snip-
My pet monkey is smarter than Vinny by quite the margin. For those that actually do understand the tech and the scaling issues (not just in Bitcoin but in general software), then they would understand that Luke actually makes very-good arguments from a technical perspective but he kind-of forgets that Bitcoin is not just tech. Now if everyone understood that the UTXO set size is kind-of only bound by the block size, they would pretty much never advocate for any significant block size increase. A lot needs to change before we could be considered *ready* for a good proposal, although it's possible that we never reach consensus.

I had read some previous posts in this thread, and maybe some other threads suggesting that "we" focus on Schnorr signatures, fungibility, privacy and other more important bitcoin development matters, which reminds me of the quote from a famous little girl.
That is already underway, it just isn't ready.
2006  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: February 12, 2019, 07:19:14 AM
@theymos

You used to be DT1. I'm surprised you dropped out instantly, does that mean you can drop from DT1 the moment you don't have 10 users on your trust list anymore?
Is this the intended behavior of the system?
2007  Economy / Reputation / Re: In the crypto world of decentralization, DTs have the centralization power? on: February 12, 2019, 07:18:01 AM
the tittle is funny, decentralization does not mean neither fairness nor equality. in BTC , the one who has the most hashrate, gets the most btc, up to a certain extent that person can take over the whole blockchain for good period of time.  decentralization as described in Wikipedia does not exist in real life. things are either fully centralized or semi-centralized.
-snip-
99% of the people involved in crypto heard the word decentralization for the first time in this space; now they think that they understand it and then just proceed to spam it in every possible context. I didn't expect anything else TBH.

2009  Other / Meta / Re: Announcing the 🦊 Vulpine Order of Merit on: February 11, 2019, 10:11:11 AM
My speech is going to be kept short.

I am absolutely honoured to receive this prestigious award. Obviously I'm compelled to first thank my husband for his unwavering support and love; secondly, I'd like to thank my cult which has served their Queen very well over its short existence. I’m also very grateful for knowing Fox, someone been by my side throughout most major events: Everything from the coup d’etat attempt by Gavin and Hearn all the way until the most recent fake accusations; the gratitude also goes towards many other friends and family who have been colluding with the Supreme Leader and me for many years now. Writing is not something that I'm very good at when I'm not on my pills, but at least I’m certain that the great Order will benefit from having a witch in it.

As I'm in love with mysteries, I am obviously going for THE MYSTERY BOX!

2011  Other / Meta / Re: theymos shouldn't merit and trust be mutually exclusive? on: February 11, 2019, 08:39:53 AM
the merit system has done a great deal to lift up those who discuss (in a positive light) the merit system...ask the many genius young coders out there who have a merit of between 1 and 2...surely, they will tell you "merit is NOT about some kind of exclusive club...no...no...no...its really all about the crypto, dude...really!"...some day (not so soon, i suspect) we will get to see the numbers regarding merit for discussing actual tech shit vs merit for discussing....well......merit
Being a "genius young coder" (not that you should believe anyone claiming to be one) has nothing to do with deserving merit. Actually, if one gives themselves that title then they are likely to be an asshole who doesn't write posts which deserve merit. Besides, there is no inherent need to have merit aside from reducing some rank-related restrictions.
2012  Other / Meta / Re: Discussion - the main function of the forum moderators on: February 11, 2019, 08:18:01 AM
Began to arise a lot of controversial situations. For example: there is a discussion, someone will begin to tease someone, make fun - all jokes are then removed by moderators as offtop. We are talking about a friendly joke, not trolling. This is not quite right in my opinion - lost sincerity and ease of conversation.
If you want to write nonsense then use the Off-topic section or create an off-the-forum chatroom.
Everything is known in comparison: I compare the 2 most popular topic:

Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion

Aнaлитикa, aнaлиз, пpoгнoзы.

I see that communication in topic Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion much more relaxed than in topic Aнaлитикa, aнaлиз, пpoгнoзы..

IMHO
Your comparison is invalid and just shows that you lack forum-related knowledge thus rendering your own opinion baseless.

Special Wall Observer rules: bitcointalk.org moderators do not moderate the Wall Observer thread for multi-posting (except obvious spam), trolling, or on-topicness. Do not use this form to report those violations; instead, contact the thread owner. Reports of other rule violations are OK here.

1. The opinion of the moderators - the main task is to ensure strict compliance with the rules of the forum. The comfort and convenience of the users of the forum does not interest them.
This is obviously more important. Moderators aren't supposed to be your parents and hope that you feel "well".
2015  Economy / Reputation / Re: What happen if anyone endorse Cloudbet? on: February 11, 2019, 07:12:08 AM
but my question is...how much proof is enough?

IRL " innocent until proven guilty", but since there is no law enforcement here, and due to the massive amount of scammers, the safest approach is the exact opposite- cloudbut are guilty until proven innocent.

they have not denied the accusation, and they are not providing any answers , therefore, IMO not only people should stop endorsing them , yet they should tag them until and if this issue is resolved.
The opposite approach is safer indeed (e.g. it's much safer to tag an account that may be compromised especially if it is a high ranking account as proving the opposite should be trivial). Cloudbet had quite the time to respond to the accusation which they have ultimately failed to do for whatever reason.

2017  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Ways of Proving Casascius coin authenticity. on: February 10, 2019, 10:18:25 PM
I see.  And so that could have the effect of devaluing the coin?  Or is there some other purpose for the attack?
Yes, to some extent. Many collectors feel that a "X" face value coin should contain that exact amount.
Anything under or over would breach the collectible value plus you also now take into account a coin/amount that was not "maker funded"
Collectors aren't known as the wisest people around here. One way to counter it would be to dust all known addresses that are still funded.

I see.  And so that could have the effect of devaluing the coin?  Or is there some other purpose for the attack?
The purpose of a dusting attack is not devaluing a coin; it's usually either promotion or a privacy attack on UTXO sets.
2018  Other / Meta / Re: For Theymos on: February 10, 2019, 09:11:15 PM
We need official rules, we need trust system that cannot be abused.
This would destroy the system and render it useless.

We need moderated scam section that will bring ban to each proven scammer, and we don't need group of people to circle merit and abuse the trust system.
Never gonna happen with a liberal in charge IMO.

Lauda, you were abused by the trust system for long long time, don't even try to deny the trust system is abused.
Do not deny that many DT members lying at their reasons for posting negative feedback.
Even if i waste 3 hours of my time to get 100+ proofs of my words sadly that won't change a thing, but we all know what am i talking about.
Of course it is abused to a certain extent at every level, it always was (even before I had anything to do with DT). Theymoses responses or lack thereof in certain cases made it clear that he is very unlikely to response to abuse (e.g. kick the now inactive and useless Tomatocage out). However, a lot of the claimed abuse isn't actually abuse and thus people are trying to exaggarate the problem. Every system will get abused; as long as the amount of abuse remains within acceptable amounts that is okay.
2019  Other / Meta / Re: For Theymos on: February 10, 2019, 09:04:28 PM
-snip-
I can quote and show at least 100 proofs that how this trust system is manipulated, abused and not used properly and that's allowed, but buying and selling accounts which is also allowed by the rules gives you red tag just because some people don't see that as ethical or those acts can bring scams ?
There are almost no rules to how it can be used except minor guidelines from theymos. If you do not understand this, then you need to stop your rant and lock this thread.

You prove it after i contacted you about removing the negative feedback from my profile, then i ask if you can contact owlcatz to do the same.
Just like your little dogs, everyone of your team removed the negative feedback from my profile.
Are you really going to stoop this low? To the the point that you are trying to attack me for asking others to give you a second chance? You are an disgusting disgrace to the human race. You should really be ashamed of yourself, and I have only myself to blame for making the mistake of giving you another chance..
