2002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2014, 07:09:06 PM
Skeptical we'll make it to 400 today. Probably better if we don't, in fact. Closing today above 370 would make me pretty happy already Smiley

I will bet you an Ouzo that we will surpass it, just in case you will come over and need an excuse to drink one... Wink

Huge page dump incoming!!!! Grin
2007  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: November 24, 2014, 02:40:48 PM
Richy already hinted at that. He said if we were only 80 pages past 10000 when we reached $400 he'd do it, or something to that effect.

I tried to find his post but he seems to have deleted it.  Grin

I certainly haven't deleted it. Who knows who is deleting what these days though.

ChartBuddy already dumped 2k posts the first time we went 9997->9902ish. By my reckoning, there are under 2k left.

I will not be deleting any of my own posts since they are all either informational or comedy gold. ChartBuddy's are disposible but I feel sad that some people are presumably dumping posts that may have historical interest.

Who cares who dumps posts? We're CCMF'ing for an hour now and THAT'S what matters Smiley

I did wonder why Jorge hasn't been posting here as much as usual, but then I found his Reddit profile - looks like he's too busy educating the heathens over at /r/bitcoin and hanging out with pals at /r/buttcoin Tongue

Wow, thats a lot of posts. Between Reddit and here and god knows where else, it's a wonder he has any time to do his academic work.

Speaking from experience, academic work won't bother you much after a 5 year cycle. Professors just copy paste after that. The good ones may extend the cycle up to the decade. That's it.

Your experience perhaps but (from my experience) academia in most countries these days consists of long hours, hard work and a cut throat environment.  The fact you spread this bullshit just because Jorge disagrees (and in many cases disproves) your crack pot economic theories is lame and disingenuous.

Disagreeing with my thesis because you're living in a country that is entirely different from mine doesn't mean that you're not facing the second face of the same coin. I can assure you I don't have anything against Jorge; and I have been reading almost all of his posts (I believe I'm one of the few here).

As for MY crack pot economic theories, I have none. I couldn't form one either. I'm just a fan of Bitcoin as a nice idea. Ideas may become extinct or may become more. I took my chances, as everybody else in here.

In your experience would it be frowned apon if it was being done during "work hours" or on campus? Do most profs have a pretty open schedule, do they have the licence to do pretty much whatever they want?

The 3rd grade education here is pretty much an authority of itself. You don't get to judge an academic even if you're a political person since they happen to form a majority of the political parties as well. The academics, as with the Judges, can vote for their rights and their salaries and no one can say anything.

If you're one of them, it's a common way to ''work'' as you wish, whenever you wish, or even not work at all (there are several "good academic programs" that justify this reason). I've studied on 3 different universities in 2 different countries and I can assure you, EVERYWHERE they have their "kingdom" pretty isolated to ''outsiders''.

I'll stop here though since this is extremely off topic even for a thread like this one...  Roll Eyes

Nice little pump.

P.S. lol we're under 10k posts again, relentless post dumping!

It seems we're facing a huge post manipulation. We won't be seeing 10,000 any time soon Grin
2013  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 24, 2014, 09:02:09 AM

Why Bearwhale postdumper keeps dumping posts, is beyond my understanding. Such page manipulation, very drama. Even the trolliest troll stopped posting his Chinese crap pics... (Bullish). Grin

CCMF GENTLEMEN!

Stupid post dumpers. They won't stop dumping their posts until this thread is at 10 pages. When they will stop hurting this thread? We just go up a little to 10k and they immediately start to dump.
Post dumpers are the cancer of this thread.

A brief question. I've downloaded the blockchain.bin from the first page together with the Monero Client .NET GUI. Is there a trick to force it to look up the downloaded database instead of redownloading the whole thing from scratch?
PS: I've followed the instructions and put it inside the %appdata%/Roaming/bitmonero as well as %appdata%/bitmonero but unfortunately, no cigar.

Thanks

Are you sure it was starting from scratch. The blockchain download is somewhat out of date so you will need to sync several weeks, but not the whole thing.

Once it is done syncing you should type save in the daemon window to update the blockchain file on your disk (normally this will happen every 12 hours).

I verified that it started from scratch. The files are located into %appdata%/Roaming/bitmonero (3 files: blockchain.bin, poolstate.bin, p2pstate.bin). I've put inside the blockchain.bin but unfortunately when started syncing started from 219 days behind. I stopped the client and restarted. The .net gui should save when closing down and it had the blockchain.bin reduced to some bytes from 2Gb...
Maybe I should put it into /temp or something...
