"PSA] Investigating Agora wallets; cold stash of at least 24,000 BTC (x-post with /r/DarknetMarkets) (self.Bitcoin)

Hey all,

I've been using Wallet Explorer to investigate Agora's wallets, and I've found some intriguing/concerning stuff.

Around 24,000 BTC accumulating in Agora-controlled addresses"

Can´t wait till they hit the market...   Smiley

(Soon someone will post that those thieves are actually die-hard bitcoiners just like 99% of the miners which will hold, no matter what, at least until 5 digits  Cheesy )

Well I won't post that they'll hold until 5 digits, and maybe they are not "die-hard bitcoiners", but it would be just plain stupid to dump everything at once.
If they do it, it'll be gradually, and it won't be all of it.

The most extreme die-hard bitcoiners are called HODLERS and they won't sell even at 6 digits! When you understand what this is all about, you're no longer in need to trade, or sell; you just keep your stash. Mid-2016 is not as far as it looks. Plus, maybe Christmas (ie: halving) will come even earlier. Sock puppets and trolls have a reason to be here, remember this...

Maybe someone posted it here, but I didn't have the chance to read it. This is from 26 of March on WSJ:

Quote
- Bitcoin and Wall Street have been like two hostile cultures, each warily eyeing the other. But attitudes are changing as the sides get to know each other, and nowhere are the emissaries of those worlds working together more directly than at Silicon Valley’s premiere start-up shop, the Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Plug and Play runs a program that puts new companies through a three-month boot camp of sorts. Entrepreneurs are given seed capital (for an equity stake, of course), mentoring, networking and the nuts-and-bolts of simply building a company from the ground up. Nearly 3,000 start-ups have gone through the program, including LendingClub Corp. and Zoosk Inc.

Bitcoin is really internet money
- Whales become whales in early days, start selling bitcoin
- People think its cool and try to buy
- The whales owned all the noobs and laughed about it, 20, 30 times
- Whales will die alone

I'm from Norway. We hunt those mofos.

Give them hell brah! Tongue

Out of curiosity... I've been away, what's with all the up n down movement the last 24hrs? Yet another flash crash and flash pump or is it a new willy bot on the test phase?

I'm now persuaded that NLC is a teamwork. Could be anyone who funds(?) this operation though. From M. Karpeles to the Wall St. boys who want to accumulate moar for less. Under no circumstances could ONLY ONE person be handling all this trollfest by its own. On the other hand it could be feasible if he had zero personal life... oh wait...  Grin

In a war of attrition, all you have to do is survive long enough and you'll win.

This is not a "true" war, but I tend to agree. If you participate (even slightly) the decay will occur whether you like it or not. The best attitude is to stand still and do nothing... In our case just wait and HODL! Smiley

Hear hear.

HODL your position gentlemen for we shall be the lasteth men standeth.

It's far better than chasing longs and shorts (except for those tiny ones that girls are wearing in summer). Besides there's only one case under which you lose everything:

BTC wallet = 0

In all other cases, you're a winner.

A senior Hong Kong official has indicated that the government does not see
a need for legislation that would regulate or ban bitcoin activities.

KC Chan comes in response to a question submitted during a meeting of the

Well, it's been a while since I read a WALL OF TEXT FULL OF ACCUSATIONS! What I see is 2 devs having a fight and a BTC600 fund raising pack going down the drain... Bye bye VIA.  Undecided

This is fucking awesome... NOT A SINGLE SOUL asked how to change the password. Any help please?

Currently, it's not possible (from the core assemblies of Monero) to change the password of accounts.

There is one way to change the password, but you have to use the command line interface. Do a wallet restore from mnemonic seed. It asks for a password. Enter a new password. (I think)

Second is to just create a new address (wallet file). Then you can make a new password.

That's a great idea, but old-format and non-mnemonic account files do not support the change. A better method should be implemented into the core as soon as possible...

I personally, don't find it too significant to implement "change password" within the core. I changed my password 3 times so far using the second method. Since XMR is fully anonymous, I don't really care changing my address. So create new wallet, set pass, send XMRs from old wallet to the new one. End of story.

I just loaded my NETELLER card with my moneroj through https://xmr.to Grin

Well, that's what I call "progress". Best of both worlds! BTW: I've been missing progress for a couple of days... Is this the reason we go CCMF? Grin

Good morning Gents.

I'm not into charting, but I decided to play a little with the one Adam has provided here:

http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/bitstampUSD#rg1460zigWeeklyztgSzm1g10zm2g25zvzl

It seems to me -if we hypothesize that a pattern is being followed- we're en route for a month of "stable" prices. Anyone else sees what I'm seeing?  Grin

Any other HODLER's at a huge loss over all?

Somebody called? I'm here!!!  Grin
A Hodler can never lose!

Except for:
1. You lose when you're robbed (I got Goxxed & Vircurexxed)
2. You lose when you sell (at ANY price, no matter how high or low).

I will probably have to sell but I'm nowhere near my target (never was even @ $1,200 either to save your breath)
If some one of you here "certifies" himself as "Hodler" then keep this in mind:

YOU DON'T SELL UNLESS IT'S AN EMERGENCY AND YOU DESPERATELY NEED THE FIAT!

Period.

The Justice Department is ordering bank employees to consider calling the cops on customers who withdraw $5,000 dollars or more, a chilling example of how the war on cash is intensifying.

Is this for real?  Shocked Shocked Shocked

http://www.infowars.com/feds-urge-banks-to-call-cops-on-customers-who-withdraw-5000-or-more/

What are they expected to charge them with, receiving funds from sold bitcoins? I didn't know it was a crime to sell your bitcoins. Having your account closed is bad enough without being arrested too.

Nothing. The purpose is to scare.

Mind you there's a *cough* rumor that the same is happening in the EU Banks... A friend of mine told me the amount was different though; 3000Eur. Well; that feels "safe"... Undecided

It would be fantastic to see the difficulty drop so low that only the die hards will still hash. If we hit $120 or so I could easily see that happening.

It would be nice to see if price follows hashrate, or vice versa. Everybody I know up until now vote for the 1st. Even presented some charts to prove it. This hypothesis would have been awesome to test. BTW: Who are the "Die Hards"? Everyone I know in the mining industry is a "die hard" (myself included)... Roll Eyes

derp less than 10% drop...  Huh

was that all you can do bear... really ?

Not sure if you're just cynical or not, but accumulated with the drops over the last few days this is pretty much devastating all support lines we have left should we not bounce back up significantly from here!

it seems than support/resistance is irrelevant...

5K dumps every 2hrs. Seems like a pattern... And it's yet the same old story: "Bullish news = Down we go"... Undecided

oooo sorry incorrect - cannot split into 6 and 6 - one of the people is lighter *OR* heavier , splitting 6 and 6 cannot reveal whether the heavy/light person is on either side ... Wink ... (the heavy side of 6 could reveal that those 3 vs 3 of them are equal on the 2nd weighing , and leave you with an inability to determine who's the odd duck out of the 6 who weren't on the heavy side of the 1st weighing) ... it's a tricky one ... 6v6 was my first inclination as well , but the key is 1 of 12 is lighter OR heavier ...

In this case you will have to split the odds:

Heavier person case:
1. You split them in half (six persons per side)
2. Take the heaviest side and split them once more (3 persons per side)
3. Take the heaviest side and you end up with 3 persons.
4. Choose randomly the 2 of them and weight them.

If they're equal, you found the one outside. Otherwise the heavier one will be revealed by the balance.

Thinner person case:
Then you have to repeat the process for the case the person is thinner than the others.

1. You split them in half (six persons per side)
2. Take the lightest side and split them once more (3 persons per side)
3. Take the lightest side and you end up with 3 persons.
4. Choose randomly the 2 of them and weight them.

If they're equal, you found the one outside. Otherwise the thinner one will be revealed by the balance.

There is another way by dividing the weight of the persons you weighted and find if they're of the same weight every time, (ie: first time total weight/6, second time total weight/3 etc), but... I prefer simpler solutions Tongue

PS: It seems I missed the job then Cheesy
