Don't know why but your name reminds me of the most powerful troll-er of Bitcoin World, i.e.;NotLambChop

Could Adam's account be SODLed to NLC? Is he trolling us all the way down to the DOOM? WTFOMG that's a disaster!  Shocked Grin

It just seems I will have to post the ignore list once every 24hrs. I'm clicking "ignore" away as fast as I can. There's only one sane explanation though. NLC is Theymos?  Grin

This is getting embarrassing mate ^^^^^

Use the list buddy. Or, just click ignore and let him be in his own oblivion. Clearly he's a mental, period. Undecided

You're right

What do you mean by the list? If there is some way to hide the posts of the freshly created accounts that would be very welcome.

Of course there is. Go to your profile page then on "ignore user options". There's a box there. Copy and paste these:

Hello, my name is Mr. Snrub. And I come from, uh... someplace far away.
Have you gentlemen heard about Monero, the cryptocurrency that got privacy right?  Or are you happy with adding "pseudo" to anonymity?

There is no privacy on a central exchange.

As is the case with Bitcoin, Monero is used as money, to be exchanged for goods and services.
Especially when the goods are Schedule I & the parties offering the services look awfully young to be doing what they're doing, though not saying it's wrong.  I don't judge.

Sincerely,

  ~Mr. Snrub

XMR is the altcoin of choice for many regulars and early BTC adopters here. I don't say it will succeed in replacing BTC at some point in the future (though it's possible). The idea behind its crypto algorithm is unique and extraordinary as the mixing procedure.

But; there's a long way ahead which includes (in no particular order):

1. Usability (proper GUI & client)
2. Multiplatform implementation (most people don't get it to run under OSX)
3. More exchanges (3 is a fine number, but more are needed)
4. a ton of other stuff

The good thing is the team's dedication and their missives are almost every time ontime (with a few exceptions).
Should you invest? I don't know. I did, as I find it more safe to own some, than not to own any. You know... just in case Wink

Edit: Left some positive feedback for you.
1227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 31, 2015, 07:59:12 AM
More interesting than gold is the possibility of bitcoin becoming the world reserve currency. This is of course unlikely but possible due to it's global and globally accessible nature.

At present, there are ~10.5 trillion US dollars in existence (M2 money supply) which means if Bitcoin replaced dollars as world currency and world GDP remained constant, each bitcoin would be worth almost exactly $500,000 dollars (March 2015). If there is a 1% chance of bitcoin becoming the next world reserve currency, then EV is $5,000/BTC.

I think this is both way too optimistic and pessimistic. On the one hand, the probability of an experimental currency that is not even in beta yet replacing the most established currency since gold is rather lower than 1%. On the other hand, World GDP is constantly growing and bitcoin is useful for much more than just a reserve currency. It's use as a way to digitally sign documents, voting, time-stamping, micropayments, title transfer, payments, settlements, proof of holdings, etc ensure that reserve currency will be just one of many factors determining its utility, value and price. Bitcoin could conceivably become much more valuable than a half million dollars each even if it never becomes a reserve currency at all. It should also be worth noting that it may be replaced by a superior cryptocurrency and drop in value to that of a collector's item.

It's also possible and impossible as well. The thing is, no major economy currently trusts BTC as a "reserve currency". Regulation is one thing and implementing BTC as a currency, is another. We're on the right track though; all we have to do is wait. My guess is that we'll be hovering somewhere in the middle for sometime before something "big" (ie: governmental backup) happens. If it ever will, that is...

@nopedope89:

Another question for you... I've tried using Minergate with tor network to no success. There's a proxy column on the GUI that you can specify the respective host:port for socks proxy. Is it working or not yet?

Thanks.

This. no point blocking people that actually add something.

Also, Norway, you can copy and paste the whole list in profile->ignore

These vast ignore lists just identify the narcissistic fools that populate this forum. If you exclude all opinion you don't agree with, for reasons you cant explain or understand, then you are no longer having a "discussion" but merely partaking in a circle jerk.

Some people have limited time to watch forums. They may want to focus on people whose input they know to be of value. And neither me nor you have much to offer SoullyG.

Why on Earth one who visits these forums want to read fluffy comments and silly Nazi pics about filthy Bitcoiners? I already expressed my opinion that the Newbie prison should be reinstated ASAP. There was trolling in this thread (and this forum in general) but nothing like this! Most significant users that used to be posting and be regulars here are now gone because of people like NLC and sockpuppets...

Ignore list is the antidote. Please apply responsibly. Smiley

Today we've successfully released new version of Minergate GUI Miner (v.5.0) with the Smart Mining option.

Smart mining mines the currency with the highest exchange rate during the last hour. If profit-leader changes, our miner starts mining new currency. Merged mining is now smart too. It makes your mining more profitable.
List of new features:
 - Smart Mining
 - Autostart on system startup
 - Bugfixes and smal visual fixes

Download latest version for your system you can from this section: https://minergate.com/downloads/gui

Does the GUI only support CPU or also GPU mining?

Just tried it (mac version) on my MacBook Pro (i7/Nvidia) and GPU is not utilized. I will try on a similar specs PC in a while and report progress...

GUI supports GPU, but unfortunately not for Mac now. We are working on implementing this for mac-users too.

GUI works fine on my win machine. One question: Will you release the CLI versions as well (it's currently on 4.04). Thanks!

1232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: March 30, 2015, 08:01:06 PM
May I propose something to the team?

When the new XMR binaries & db is out, maybe we should make a "live" linux ISO with the XMR included (or a WinPE64 image for that matter). This way, XMR would've been much easier to get to "new" people, since they won't have to worry on how to use the wallet etc.

I also propose to add the excellent frontend from jojatekok: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=683365.0 and even "torrify" the thing (not necessary, but oh well). I'm very fond of such implementations, since they're portable, easy to use and don't get too much hassle to setup and run.

Anyone willing to support such a project?

Yeah, I'd support that. For the longest time I wanted to create live USB sticks with wallets already on them with some monero so ppl could buy on ebay or something, but couldn't find a way to do it without scammers coming at me.

In general, I think the live USB stick (with persistence) is the best way to have a wallet. Actually, the one I made isn't a persistent,.... I just installed onto it like it was a HD. I wonder if it will boot on computers other than the one I created it on.

I know there are how-to's for making custom linux distros.

what'd be the sweetest is if we could make it boot straight into jj's wallet - daemon autoloads, etc. That way people aren't tempted to use their MoneroStick (tm) for anything other than managing their funds.

Will probably have to wait a while though for the kinks of the new release to get worked out.

I've previously mentioned here about https://www.qubes-os.org/ as a way of fully anonymizing the transactions, but I guess it won't be for everyone (it's very specific h/w dependent). Chances are that the best solution out there for usability is not even Linux, but a win8.1/64bit PE bootable stick. If the persistent image contain the XMR wallet and the DB is written to the USB/Local HDD, that would've been awesome.

I'll see what I can do tomorrow if I have some time to poke around.

Looks like a double bottom is formed @$236

I think we could call this a pump if stamp passes $250 again.

Next wall is @252. I don't think it will hold though. The bids are rising... Somebody knows something we don't?
1234  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 30, 2015, 07:19:49 PM
Pretty obvious the reason for the rise right now.
what is it?

Nothing to see here. Just an ordinary Dead Cat Bounce...

0.5 btc min increment.

starts @ 1 btc.

I'd pay 1BTC for NLC's ignore list. Yours is not so fancy as his Tongue

Monero as a brand name is fine, why should we rebrand it? Besides there's a whole lot of infrastructure behind it right now... and... Pardon my ignorance, but WTF is "flarb"?  Grin

1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] MoneroX - A cross platform graphical account manager for Monero on: March 29, 2015, 08:52:01 PM
After a long phase of waiting, and many stressful months using the command-line Monero core binaries, finally there comes a solution! In the past few weeks, I've been working on rewriting the whole application in the Eto.Forms framework in order to support multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Mac. Today, I'm proud to announce the release of

(Thanks for the logo, fluffypony! Wink)

While MoneroX has basically no graphical changes compared to Monero Client .NET, its code has been rewritten from scratch. Thus, the performance and reliablity has also increased during this process. The localization files could also have been kept, however, there are still a few features missing when compared to the old WPF project (backup manager, instant input validation, progress bar text). Transactions are now displayed in groups, so it should be significantly easier to account your holdings.

The new releases can be downloaded from GitHub. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure out how to compile MoneroX for Mac soon.

Please post your toughts, feedbacks, bug reports, or feature requests, as every single opinion counts in my opinion. Smiley
If you like this project, please donate to one of the addresses which can be found in my signature.

This would have been neat! I'm running a 64bit VM for XMR right now on win7/64! I'll be happy to test it! Cheesy
