That awkward moment when you observe that half of the page posts are on your ignore list. This is definitely bullish indicator to me. Let doom reign another day. Sorry folks this doesn't seem to be your day.
1202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 05, 2015, 07:39:19 AM
I don't think we will have the chance to buy XMR in the range of 10s. If we will I will double my stash. I even consider accumulating some more in the current price tag, but not have enough funds ATM. XMR is a pretty nice investment if you want my opinion.

Hello all, im new in mining world and if any experienced user can suggest me what computer requirements do i need to achieve 100 KH/s  Huh Thanks to all and best of luck.

100 KH/sec is unreal for 1 computer mining cryptonote coins like bytecoin, monero, darknote, quazarcoin.... I think maximum HR you can achieve is 1.5 KH/sec per computer.

Okay but i have asked with asic i can mine only litecoin and bitcoin, so for cryptonote not yet any other hardware? The only way is if i add extra graphic cards to the computer i ca mine with more speed ?

Correct. Cryptonote has asic-resistance. So you can increase your speed only by adding new video cards to your PC.

I'd propose Nvidia cards (older generation ones like 750ti 450gts are not at all obsolete) since they will provide a good production to electricity cost ratio. The best case scenario for such coins though, which you might want to consider, is to rent a pile of cloud computers which you will "entitle" to mine with you. I'm sure you can look around for a good price tag.

Cheers
1206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 02, 2015, 07:28:56 PM
I bought more btc recently with the intention of hodling it as I was 100% Monero.  Half of this new btc has somehow become Monero.  It seems I have no control.  There is Alcoholics Anonymous,  is there Monero Anonymous?

It seems you're right at the spot. I'm macsga; I have to confess that I bought moar. It was an urge. I couldn't help it. I won't guarantee it won't happen again soon. The price is too low for me to resist; I'm sorry.

Thanks for listening (reading)... Grin

Tarmi will be helping the price to rise by buying bitcoin right about now. Kerching. Closed short positions. Smiley

no, I say fuck you. I am opening more.

dude your not thinking straight... wait for 26X at least. FFS you're gonna get POWNED

TO DA MOON!

The poll revealed it all a while ago. I count 48.6% for up against 20.7% for down. Up it is then! I'd say we could use a bit of positive feelings here. Too much of trolling and bear talk for a while. Wink

1209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 02, 2015, 04:37:57 PM
It is just a matter of time when Monero will reach the parity with btc.
Again, 5,000 btc marketbuy gets you there and probably 10,000-20,000 btc will hold you there...

I wonder who is the first to pull the trigger.  Huh  Roll Eyes  Grin

Heh, actually since someone first mentioned that a million dollars would get us there really got me thinking..

I mean, the sum of money we're talking about is equivalent to the spending that a single medium-sized company (worth 50-100 million USD) would typically spend on a single major facility renovation.

We're talking about something as small as adding a 30' length of hallway, and three or four production rooms with blenders and automated packaging lines in a single FDA regulated food manufacturing facility could be that much..

Just the relatively minimal amount of money is what's getting at me..

I like them odds.

Nice observation. The analogy is fairly accurate, but please let me add that the total cap for BTC is only "a mere" 3.4Bn. What we think it's "big" may be very small for ie: a hedge fund that will decide to "invest" $1Bn in BTC (or XMR) for that matter. Those funds though, are not in because they believe in crypto, rather than make more fiat from trading. So, it may cause a short bubble that will temporarily push the coin but then will fall back.

Hmm, that should be interesting. So has anyone got the idea we're leading to a MtGox mystery end yet? Grin

What is it about Bitcoin that instantly corrupts everyone who touches it?

one of its main "features" - irreversibility.

I think corruption is not doable via fiat money; cause reversible... Why not sell every BTC for fiat and put it into the Banks! Cause safe!
But wait... It is!  Grin
1212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 09:49:50 PM
You do not need fundamental shift to make things better.
Monero can also be considered as a cryptocurrency and so can bitcoin.

Bitcoin network will work just fine as long as 21 million coins will be mined but the community will not grow unless the price doesn't restart bull trend. Chances are, bitcoin will start having negative network effect and this is the golden opportunity for Monero to claim the first place among the crypto currency.

I used to have most of my cryptos in bitcoin but as the price does nothing but goes down I am not interested in holding it anymore.
I am not saying bitcoin has nothing use but personally I see Monero having more use. It can be used as a everyday currency (once the infrastructure is ready - other than xmr.to - I am refering to things like merchant tools, direct fiat exchange etc).

Monero is useful for me personally and for many others, in a way to keep my funds private.
Who want to expose one's funds to the whole earth? At least not me.

This is a fundamental error, that many people here make. Sure, there's a surge when the bull run occurs, but during the whole bear-trend last year BTC user base has grown bigger (https://blockchain.info/charts/my-wallet-n-users). Tying BTC/USD price to the user base is utterly wrong, IMHO. Under the current circumstances (ie: unregulated exchanges, gray legal area) it's very easy for somebody with big cash to control the BTC/USD price.

Of course, the same goes for XMR...

how long am I going to have to wait??? huh?

Uhm, until maybe next halving. That would be mid-2016, but what is one more year in front of the eternity?   Wink

The DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM will happen at next halving......? wait a minute , knock..... knock.... how does this gizmo work?

1215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 08:18:07 PM
No need to fight over this. XMR is a weapon of choice when it comes to Crypto. It has features that BTC lacks of, it's better, it has a better devteam and a rather strong user base. I expect similarities with BTC. TBH, I also expect it to be A LOT bigger once the most wanted missives are implemented. Yes, it's a baby; but still, a pretty strong and promising one!

I KNOW I've said too many times TO DA MOON, and CCMF already, but this is the most probable way XMR is going.  Wink

@Johnny Mnemonic: Valid points on the "get one crypto now". But BTC/Crypto useless?  Roll Eyes

1217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 01:30:09 PM
What is your ratio between bitcoin and XMR you have ? I have personnaly put about 50% of my investment in BTC and about 50% in XMR.

Not that I disagree with that ratio but I'm not doing that.
I hear more people use 5%-10% on alts. (initial value)
As the price rises they often cash out to keep that % (or maintain a certain percentage.)

That said I do feel like Monero is worthy of taking a bigger risk on as I have more than a strong feeling that many early
BTC adopters see what is happening and they want to up the ante with XMR.

IF XMR is showing this kind of strength with BTC relatively down, I can only imagine where it goes once BTC turns upwards.
My guess is from .01 BTC or .02 BTC on the lower end, to .1 BTC on the extreme high end.
So, being that we are in the .003-.004 range, a higher % of BTC in XMR is a decent chance to take.

What timeframe are you looking at?

The .01 ratio can happen overnight but I imagine in the next 3 months or so we see it happen.
My extreme high end ratio would involve unforseen forces as I can't see under normal circumstances that happening. But then again, when the public moves into Crypto en masse, all bets are off  Wink

Being better tech than Bitcoin, I'd expect a more than 1:0.1 ratio at some point. After that, maybe we will have to witness a new paradigm (ie: the first alt to threat bitcoin's reign). Again, a long shot. Smiley

Ok Guys 2 questions...

1. WHY This shit is pumping so hard?
2. WHEN "THE DUMP" will start?

 Roll Eyes

First of, it's not the first time. Secondly, there's a sustainable rise - not a bubble (yet). When a bubble occurs you will notice a parabolic rise. Then, you should sell (or wait for another parabolic rise)  Grin
1219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GCoin [GCN] can now be used to buy goods at www.worldofelectronics.ie €1=G1.5m on: April 01, 2015, 10:13:56 AM
IMHO, the distribution up until now was just fine. There were a lot of people who got in early, had the chance to hold their stash, but chose to get out; thus the price was so low. Others, felt that it was good to just hold and wait; and finally there's the new crowd who enters just now.

The price vs distribution is a reverse analogue, while at the same time the velocity of money (ie: how often transactions are being made) plays a role too. I'm sure up until now more "missives" are needed, not more coins on the road. I surely wanted to have more, but unfortunately, I don't.

Another good thing is that the coin didn't present a "bubble" so far. That means a lot to me. It should mean a lot to you too. Just be patient, everything will follow the flow.  Wink
