I've acquired more the last couple of weeks nearly doubling my stash. I have a tech question for you guys though. How much memory is required for monerod.exe not having to use VM from the hdd? It seems that 8Gb is not enough... Could someone share the knowledge?

Thanks

On GNU/Linux (Kubuntu 14.04) bitmonerod takes 6,263,272 K so 8GB should be enough barely.

On Win 8.1, bitmonerod is using 5850 MB on my system at the moment.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'm going for a 16Gb upgrade. I'm running this on a VM with win7/64bit so I guess things are slow just because of that.

I can accept there maybe a dump, it may even happen friday... but fucking astrology.

What next i ching? numerology ?  the gizzards of a crispy duck? lets give ron hubbard a call and ask him what xenu has got to say.

Are you meaning to tell me, that if the protocol was found to be broken tomorrow the chinese would not dump straight away? or how about if the NASDAQ and the Queen of England announced on the 12th that they were now going conduct all of their business in Bitcoin, that the Chinese would dump on the 13th? fuck anything else that happens because stars?

Fuck a duck.

Quack.

All pretty good ways of prediction. I must add coffee oracles are performing greatly as well... Tongue

Former SEC Director Admits The Truth: The Market Is Rigged
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-03-10/former-sec-director-admits-truth-market-rigged

True dat. The market is rigged but still we have have to put faith in this rigged market and hope that the people who control the market will sometime makes the price go up so that we can live in peace.
Yep, they will let it go up for real, but only after another incoming rape in this month.
They wont rape anyone this month. The rape will happen in April. The prices will rise a bit till April and will plunge down. Then I predict an upward trend till February 2016.

Youre wrong m8, they will rape market this month before april 7th. Riceeaters follow astrology. First wave of dumpage will happen on friday 13 due to Saturn direction change Smiley

cant connect with win wallet. any nodes to add please?
Not possible to connect for any wallets since yesterday. Greg's on it from what he's posted above. FYI: I've tried the updated version of lightbikes. The rewards have been halved, which I think it's a good thing for the price. If you want to buy electronic stuff from the worldofelectronics you can also use DOGE to buy GCN. The price is ridiculous and you will gain plenty of time from playing and waiting to get your funds from the games. I just did so yesterday... Wink

Yup... that is the hilarious part.... that bit is great.

The disturbing part is BLYTHE MASTERS!!!!!!!!!! Nooooooooooooooooo

I don't like the guy, but the greatest and foremost utopia that exists in crypto-world is that the current economic establishment's top boys will be left out of the way when there's massive adoption. Well; this won't happen! They know how the system works and -frankly- I think we need them around for they possess significant knowledge. On the other hand, bitcoin derivatives to my understanding is a high risk investment. To give it a perspective, it is like entrusting your Bitcoins to someone's hands who was involved in the MtGox story...

Yeah; I know. Some people would do it again... Undecided

Blythe is a woman (but she was once married to Daniel Masters of Royal Dutch Shell/Salomon fame who was involved in developing energy gas/crude markets, who incidentally now is part of GABI)

Blythe is a scary woman.

Ask any silver trader  Cheesy Cheesy

(given her past track record, think derivatives and manipulation)

Haha! Well, I didn't know who she was. I only judged from her JPM past. But my thesis remains the same, you get my point.

SATAN HAS ARRIVED !!!!!! Run for the fucking hills!!!!!!!!!1
Masters joins cryptocurrency start-up
Blythe Masters, the former JPMorgan executive who helped pioneer credit derivatives in the 1990s, has re-emerged as chief executive of a cryptocurrency start-up.

We need to start investing in silver stakes.
Seriously though this is at the same time hilarious and also disturbing......
Masters? Blythe Masters?

Is it as scary as the time when Brooksley Born, former head of the CFTC, tried to warn the US congress of the dangers of derivatives and was silenced by Greenspan, Rubin and Summers?

source http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/view/

It is so scary that as I was reading my arse started to quiver like a cyclopses eye in a hailstorm.

I don't necessarily think this is bad for crypto. Maybe it's the "system's" way of adopting something they can't fight (or they didn't want to fight in the first place).

Don't forget:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

I'd be more focused on the EU exchanges at the moment. The EUR/USD seems not a random case. Here's the reason:

http://rt.com/news/238981-putin-signs-brics-bank/

It seems BRICS finally made a move.

I think stamp is dying..

I think that without REAL USD flowing into the market all the other exchanges that provide margin trading will crash lower  Undecided

What about the EUR flowing into the market? I see big potential in EUR

Fake EUR and Fake USD will work just fine, if not we'll use some Fake CNY.

All time low of the decade for Euro/USD. I predict CCMF soon... Smiley

I have previously suggested a formula to calculate the daily limit. I think it was via a pm but here it goes ahain:

Every six months the daily limit per user should be halved with taking into account the total coins already distributed. This way the difficulty to gain coins will be increased and more people will run to the exchange to buy more. Then there will be a price rise.

Greg is there a problem with the Android apps? I can't play and if I login then I can't withdraw (lost about 200K on lightbikes) Sad

In last two days most of the time can't withdraw. What's wrong?

This is not the only problem. It seems the servers are down most of the times. Maybe Greg and the devs are working on the reward system (with the lightbikes the wallet was emptying in no time...)

This should be an interesting week. I wonder if HM_The_King had it right about 0.003-0.006 range being the 1st big cashout of XMRs from the early adopters and an opportunity for a 2nd wave of investors... Hmm...
1375  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: March 10, 2015, 07:28:35 AM

I looked up the address of ChartBuddy on Blockchain.info and there was a link in many of his transactions to external site called richy t or something.  Is that link safe to click on?

RichyT is Chartbuddy's admin. He's a regular here as well... Wink

I really want this to go up now. I think XMR is all that Bitcoin is lacking. Being on an ATH route right now witnesses a brand new future after the remaining fixes are incorporated into the binaries. Nice!!!
1378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Logarithmic (non-linear) regression - Bitcoin estimated value on: March 09, 2015, 10:38:57 PM
According to your chart we should have reached 1000 by now! Cheesy

But really, if you're right, we've got a long way to recover...

According to the log regression's trend, 1182 is today's estimated value.

You can see it here.

So the price is 76% undervalued.

i am thinking that the 1MB limit is increasingly becoming a dead-weight on the value. This roadblock to scalability is highly publicized now, and it is reasonable that large amounts of money is on the sidelines waiting to see whether Bitcoin can properly scale. The sooner v4 blocks are happening the better the environment will be for the value to return to trend.

Are the debates on this done? There were half people that said yes and the other half said no. Is it decided for sure then?

1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: March 09, 2015, 09:58:28 PM
People like Vlad2Vlad are admirable. They're the type of people that help change the world. However, Vlad's loyalty are for the wrong coins. As other users have said, Maxcoin has been given up on. .

It is absolutely foolish to buy any more maxcoin at this point. More than a year later and Maxcoin still has not have had any development on it, no marketing, nothing. It's dead. Move on to other coins with actual, potential, futures and spread your enthusiasm there. Stop wasting your time on coins like these.

Lol your blind arent you ? Maxcoin hasnt been given up on, development takes time. Selling at this time is absolutely foolish. Buying at this time could be considered a very wise idea especially if you have ideas on how you can help utilize & develop maxcoin further.

I wonder if anybody believes this anymore. This coin had so much potential... It's truly sad the wrong decisions (?) or greed (?) led it to despair. I  have mined about 3000 of them from the beginning. Too bad some of them got Goxxed into MCXnow (where are they btw) for the critical week the price went to hell...

Sigh.

PS: The previous update was a disaster! If you want your people back make sure you do it right this time.
