2001  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which gambling sites have 0% house edge? on: October 04, 2016, 08:14:56 AM
Thats weird I have never heard of a gambling site / game that has 0% house
edge. I guess their form of revenue would be advertisements then? Just seems odd
and would be afraid to deposit or win to much that they wouldn't pay.

They spring up every now and again but dont seem to last the test of time.  The reason is because there are middle men that need to get paid somehow.  We need gambling sites with no central 4rd party for a true 0% experience.  Then somehow these need to be popular.

2005  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and paying Tax on: October 02, 2016, 02:02:00 PM
As i see it in order for government to mount a long term serious tax forcing attack on crypto there would need to be the same or more % of people who agree to keep government how it is.  I think the public will choose free trade this century.
2006  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and paying Tax on: October 02, 2016, 09:47:57 AM
the government is going to take his taxes even with force, it doesn't matter what currency you are using for your business. as long as you are running a business in a country you have to abide by law, you can't just say i stop paying taxes because i am using bitcoin!

They will want to take tax via force but they wont know who has what is the problem.  Earnings for gov on taxes will drop and they will become less powerful.  Eventually we form a new donation based government.

Your GF should consider other factors - are her current superiors leaving? Would she be facing off a bunch of new hires brought in by new management?

Are there still training and career advancement opportunity under new management?

Yes there are some new management but some remain.  There are plenty of opportunities to progress career in this job but would mean hard work and we are considering a more relaxed lifestyle is in our plans.

Current news just in, we are now slightly favouring taking the money - Its 65% chance we take the money now ATM.

Sounds like a plan. Please use the money wisely! All the best to you and GF! Smiley

Thanks man and yeah i have no idea really how to use this fiat currently.  The banks aren't giving out enough interest to beat inflation i dont think - need to check around. Already have some bitcoin so would have to be put into gold/silver or something else.  I have little clue about investing in gold/silver.

$20k isn't that much either so need to put it into something simple and safe.

Incredible opportunity, doesn't seem like your GF can lose! A few questions:

  • How long does the $3k annual pay raise go for?
  • Does your lady like what she's doing now?
  • Will it be relatively easy for her to find a new job for comparable pay within the next few months?

These questions would filter into the decision if I was making it. If she doesn't love the job and she can get a new one with comparable pay within a few months, I say order take the $20k. But we really need to know more facts to help you better.

Good luck!

Thanks!

Ok to answer your Qs:

- The $3k pay rise is forever in the new job.

- The GF likes what shes doing right now yes, its a 1 to 1 care and supporting role with people trying to get them at best health.  In new job all that would change and 1 on 1s be done over the phone.  More people would be dealt with this way.  The job might not be as rewarding this way. However doing this from home is easy vs travelling and preparation to deal with people.

- Taking the $20k and finding a completely new job - would be easyish to find in a few months sure, but unlikely to get same exact pay unless new job was more complex and harder. Lets assume any other random job would probably be $3k less vs private company job offer.

Other factors:

Another thing to consider is i run a home business and she helps.
She can help me better if she works from home.
If she works from home we are flexible to live anywhere.

She might be able to take the $20k and quit completely and we both work on my home business forever.  < this is not a safe play though, its possible though.  If she quits all work completely and works with me she misses out on little social interactions she likes at current real life jobs - however i guess thats replaceable.

Fuck, still 50/50 we have 3 weeks to decide. I guess its win win situation though.
2010  Economy / Economics / Re: How many coins did you have during the rise? on: September 30, 2016, 08:49:23 AM
I had a few but i sold out way early @ like $200 on the way up and then rebought @ like $400.  Then sold again @ $600 bought again @ $900 etc etc etc.  In the end it was months and months of crappy trading and i lost money on it.  Also many people had funds in mtgox at this time so only a few got the real gains out the rise.
2011  Economy / Economics / Re: Take Redundancy Or Stick With Job? on: September 29, 2016, 07:35:35 PM
Depends on what the annual salary is and how long it would take to earn the $20k redundancy offer.

$20k is not a lot of money and wont last long.

Job is part time but pays more than $20k per year so yeah would take under a year to earn that back but she can get another job so does this matter?

Basically paying $20k for a good job (but on paper) it seems?

2012  Economy / Economics / Take Redundancy Or Stick With Job? on: September 29, 2016, 07:12:30 PM
I'll try and keep it short as possible:

The GF has job in public sector, they just got taken over by a private company. Private company offered her either $20k tax free redundancy package or stick with the job under new private company terms.  The private company cannot act bad since its taking over public sector work if you understand.  The new terms are pretty good.

The new terms from private company include:

- $3k per year pay rise
- Working fully from home, flexible hours also < pretty crazy good right?

GF does enjoy a little social interaction at work but it takes much more effort to go to work each day then work from home.

We cant work out if its better to take the $20k or take the job.

GF could also take the redundancy and apply for the same job at a later date - lol yes this is possible.  However GF is 100% guaranteed this job right now if she wants it and the private company has no option you see.

She could also take the $20k and get another job somewhere else. New diffferent jobs are unlikey to work from home of course and wont have the $3k pay rise mostly likely.

How the fuck do you work this out? we are about 50/50. Money now better then money later or what? Or because the job seems good on paper we should turn down a free $20k?

2013  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: September 29, 2016, 01:21:16 PM
To get rich is not easy and need a hard work to do it. Get rich is not instant and it need proces, the only way to get rich without proces is gambling and it's very risky. Focus on your job and get promote on your job.
Well you can put "marrying a rich person" and "hitting lottery jackpot" on the list of only way to get rich instantly Cheesy Hard work cant guarantee you to become rich in future. Nowadays, investment is the common way for some person to get higher income instead of just working in some company.
I think marrying a rich person is more probable that hitting a lottery, really hard to hit a lottery due to less chances of winning but you can marry an old person but if you cannot take it you will be living unhappy for the rest of your life even with a lot of money. What is the use of money at all when you are not happy.

Its much more likely to marry a rich person vs lottery sure.  Infact if you want that kinda thing you can just train yourself to deal with higher class and keep putting yourself in positions where they hang.  Your chances would increase dramatically but hey you basically have to whore yourself.

“That man is the richest whose pleasures are the cheapest. ”

― Henry David Thoreau

Today i will walk on the beach with the GF, eat good food and all it will cost me is a car journey and a trip to supermarket.  Smiley

That only applies on emotional status of someone, but the topic is about monetary richness which is only possible to be gained by working, and with bitcoin that work can be done by trading or running a gambling site or something similar, other methods wont make it possible to make you rich.

No its not just emotional status dude.  Example: You can earn more money living in a big city like london for example but you will have to breathe pollution every day which ends up overall for less longevity on average.  Thats got nothing to do with emotion its objective science.
2015  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling PvP. on: September 29, 2016, 11:43:10 AM
Maybe you can make a board around here where players can place bets against eachother for whatever they want? It would be important to get an escrow involved and if it gets popular, it could be turned into a service where the service takes the role of the escrow.

Betting against someone else adds just a little more excitement and you have an opportunity to pick bets that you are likely to win.

Having a site where you basically are a 3rd party escrow for players who want to bet on anything/any game they like on the internet is a great idea.  Its not been done yet properly, having thread to match players just doesn't scale it needs to be a professional service.

Looks like big sam is going to be sacked.  For some reason the market is currently putting steve bruce and next fav to get the job, wtf? I would bet against this he has no credentials as a manager.
i'm pretty surprise to see the news that he leaves england team after one match and that mean he coaching england only 67 days however i do agree with you steve bruce isn't good manager for england and i think FA should find another coach as replace big sam

this is a big news, there is a scandal causing sam allardyce resign.

there is a video from The Daily Telegraph investigating on how sam allardyce trying to trick FA regulation on transfer players. he resign before sacked i guess. meantime Gareth Southgate appointed as the cartaker.

Here is the video for those who didnt see:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcBwp8WOVlI

Looks like he was pretty stupid suggesting getting around rules of english football laws.

Trumps odds have come down over time but we still have clinton as fav which is disapointing.  Would like to see the odds at 50/50 by the time the voting happens.

Whats also shocking is he was doing a great job at sunderland and now david moyles has messed things up.  I should imagine we will see big sam back at sunderland pretty soon.

In the world of crypto currency exchanges lasting 5 years is a solid achievement but would still like to see better support @ BTC-e.  I can say i have never had any lasting problems thoughs.

-snip-

Everton is looking pretty strong this season and their morale is really high so that it would be much easy for it to win this match, when Everton will have this encounter on home ground it will be into very strong position and will have good advantage there, that is the reason I am totally agreed with you.

They haven't had the hardest run of games though, they look good sure but still lost to bournemouth away - not the best result.  Top 6 would be massive for them this season.
