Are there any projects like this?
Check https://memo.cash/ which utilize BCH network. It's more practical than your idea since there are already incentive to run the node/mine the coin.

From what i've seen, most guide about setting Onion Service on Bitcoin Core usually enable bind=127.0.0.1. Enable it first and restart your Bitcoin Core process.

and this is currently available only for BTC/BSQ swaps.
If it's the only available pair, then only existing Bisq user which could feel the advantage. New user don't really care about consensus on Bisq DAO even though BSQ also can be used to pay trading fee. I think it's only a matter of time when other stablecoins and privacy coins will be added for swap option in Bisq and I heard some developers are already working on that.
Privacy coin such as Monero already support atomic swap, so i agree it's just matter of time. Not sure about stablecoin whose developer don't really care about decentralization though.

According to https://restoreprivacy.com/password-manager/reviews/lastpass/, there are some serious privacy concern and past data breach. LastPass collect some user data and based in US. If you really need online password manager, consider BitWarden instead which is open-source and have better security history. Otherwise, i would recommend KeePassXC instead.

2 tutorial tersebut termasuk dalam kategori full drive/disk encryption. Tapi karena proses yang cukup susah dan panjang, saya sarankan lakukan enkripsi pada proses instalasi saja.

3. Third-party tracking (such as Facebook and Google Analytic) will know you're interested on cryptocurrency.
I guess that's why many crypto-related posts are now appearing from my dummy account in Facebook long time ago before I stopped trying them, lol. Not that it is really an issue for me due to it being a dummy account, but quite concerning considering that you mentioned in #1, from just sending only an email address. If you find it quite concerning, you should know most website do these simply by visiting their website. I would recommend you to install uBlock Origin ( https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/) which could reduce the data collection.

I don't see any benefit compared with other crypto debit/credit card, so i doubt this product will be popular. New user is more likely to use card from more popular company (e.g. Binance) while veteran user would use card which already ready to use.
Well, in case of Ledger card your crypto will be on your hardware wallet and not on the exchange. For me that's a pretty big advantage, given that their fees and ease of use remains somewhat similar to Binance card. Honestly i doubt about part where the coin stay on hardware wallet since the website also say " Top-up & manage your card easily and securely through Ledger Live". Hopefully they don't mean you must send coin to card first so the card automatically convert the coin to fiat at time of purchase.

This thread remind of proverb You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. My question is... is there a way to check if the website I went to indeed had malware/trojan/keylogger etc? Such that if you post that link on a website, it would scan if there is anything malicious? Or its possible it could be hidden where a website can't even scan it?
You could try https://www.virustotal.com/ and choose "URL" or "Search" option, but obviously this website can't detect all kinds of malware, keylogger, etc. ~
He has a Nano S? He should just import the paper seed into a fresh Electrum wallet or even BlueWallet on his mobile if he only has that one infected machine; then send all funds to the Ledger & that's it. Coins secured. That's the simplicity of hardware wallets.. He has, check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5371526.msg58445037#msg58445037. Of course he could also buy a new laptop, rip out connectivity & set it up as an airgapped, dedicated Bitcoin machine, but that will probably need more money and time.
I doubt he'll bother doing it when he use password manager to store seed.

1. What is the significance of the "q", and why that character?
The 4th character refer to witness version, where "q" is witness version 0. 2. If the "q" is the standard or a must, how do you explain this Binance support article that talks about Segwit addresses? In the screenshot, you can see that the address on Binance begins with "bc1 6". The info in the article may not be completely correct, but the screenshot is surely not a mistake. Must be typo, "6" refer to witness version 26. See table on section Bech32 ( https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0173.mediawiki#bech32).

The facebook page won't help OP. According to @TheQuin, it's managed by third party which doesn't capability for customer service. Good advice except for social media. We use a PR company to manage those and they can't do any support work. The contact us form, support@freebitco.in, our thread and my PM are the support channels.

.........so i'm not sure the page ever exist. ...........
The page in question seems to have existed. I just made a search and found the following thread. I read some of the posts. Some people confirm that they have received their fund. (They didn't receive all their fund, of course. They got only a portion of that). MyBitcoin Claim Form Up!I also checked some old thread from 2011 and there are decent amount of people who say they got portion of their Bitcoin, so looks like it's existed for some time. Additionally, i found out the claim page was only up for 30 days, so no wonder there are very few posts which mention link of claim page and lack of web archive. The mybitcoin site says the claim form will be up for 30 days. So what's going to happen to all the BTC left over, from people who haven't visited the site in 30 days?

It's not like he compltely remove himself from twitter. He still have twitter shareholders which could used to influence twitter action. I can't believe they actually use .xyz rather than .com or .io. For a second i thought you include wrong link.

IMO you chose some good posts, although few of them either receive decent amount of merit or only average. I think you're decent enough to be merit source on Indonesian board, so i support your application. Sorry about this but so far none of your local users support your app and I don't think you should bother doing it just to help them.
Can you be patient? Not all local users regularly check this board or online everyday.

If you want definite/exact answer, you should PM bitboy. He's last online about 3 months ago, so it's possible he'll reply in next few months. Just brave yourself in case it's only arbitrary decision or orange is his favorite color.

Also, this platform was closed and the money from those who bought it was lost
Where did the money from those who bought on this platform go? Have you evaporated into the air?
If you mean mybitcoin.com, the platform was compromised and 51% of Bitcoin as stolen and shortly it's closed. They says there's option to claim 49% of your balance, although i don't know if anyone tried it successfully. Source: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/MyBitcoinI want to enjoy the story because it's just $56
And I also want it back
Or move on and use your time productively.

You are right, most light wallets (almost all phone wallets) are server dependent. There may be a hidden option in one or two that let user switch from their centralized server to the more decentralized Electrum nodes but majority will rely on their own service.
Of course, all light wallets (at least the ones I tried) have a default Electrum server. But to my knowledge, they do almost all use Electrum protocol. That makes sense if you tried BTC light wallet since both Electrum protocol and server are open-source, since the developer just need to use the API. But i have doubt for multi-coin wallet. And I think using BIP157/158 instead, could be a big improvement.
It's definitely big improvement from privacy side, but most light wallet doesn't focus on privacy. Besides, i find there's decent difference on initial time to sync between Electrum (using Tor) and Wasabi wallet which could annoy some regular users.
|
|
|
Finally, if I am satisfied, I will empty my Electrum Wallet and keep the Wasabi Wallet.
You might want to keep your Electrum wallet and it's backup in rare case someone send Bitcoin to your old address. From the light clients I use, most seem to be based on the Electrum protocol, with the exception of Breez and Wasabi.
Are you sure most of them actually use Electrum protocol ( https://electrumx-spesmilo.readthedocs.io/en/latest/protocol.html) or they have similar protocol which simply send list of addresses to server?

I remember when I used faucets I had to solve hundreds of captchas each day and then difficulty of Google ReCaptcha increased much. It's normal thing because Google considered that activity from my network is suspicious. That may be case for you if you're using TOR, VPN or something similar.
You could just say google reCAPTCHA is simply hostile against Tor/VPN user. The real solution is to bypass captcha
This is a half solution though because it only solves the login issue not the cloudflare issue since cloudflare is not too kind to Tor and sometimes VPN users and keeps giving you a captcha to solve to just open the website (before even reaching the login page). Fortunately theymos configure Cloudflare to be more lenient towards Tor users, although Cloudflare Onion Service sometimes doesn't work properly.

I don't use web wallet, but the list is useful. As for "Open Source" column, take note it's possible only some parts of the service is open source. For example, Lumi Wallet only open-sourcing core library of their application, not the application itself.
