2041  Economy / Exchanges / Re: scam email? on: October 13, 2022, 02:07:40 PM
Did he get your phone number? That's weird. Did you post your number somewhere, or did you register using your phone number anywhere? I think you should be careful and check whether someone is selling your data or not (even if that's going to be difficult. E-mail is pretty easy to find but a phone number is a different story IMO. Btw, most e-mail providers will filter out spam like that so if it was sent to your main inbox, maybe you should check your spam filter.
2042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Discord Servers of different projects on: October 13, 2022, 01:56:29 PM
Never experience it myself but it is not that surprising. I mean, there have been cases like this since MetaMask become popular and some people never bothered to check whether a contract or request is malicious or not. I do get an invite to many scam groups though. It seems like Discord is really not that different from Telegram if we're talking about scammers' modus operandi.
2043  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Quick balance check on: October 13, 2022, 01:40:01 PM
This website looks old and according to it, the last update was back in 2020. I'd not use it if there is a better alternative out there.

That site uses a captcha, look hard when opening using TOR.
I tried opening that website on Tor Browser and didn't face any captcha or security check
I think he is referring to the captcha check before you can proceed with the balance checking, not the web security check itself.
2044  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Question to Bitbox owners on: October 13, 2022, 01:30:09 PM
Out of curiosity, did you not try to get a replacement device if it's buggy and did not work as expected even after calibration? Then I guess if it started working really well after that maybe you just need to get more accustomed to it.

2046  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Getting a 2nd Hardware Wallet Nano Ledger S Plus For Daily Trading? on: October 12, 2022, 11:13:42 AM
If you're planning to trade in thousands of dollars worth of tokens, maybe getting a cheap Nano S is okay. Most of the shitcoins won't get listed on cex anyway. But remember that most of them have terrible liquidity on dex. The main concern would be the trading opportunity instead of what wallet you use to store your tokens. In short, I think it's okay if you plan on primarily using dex, but if you're planning to use centralized exchange then as others have pointed out, you might be losing more money due to the fees if you can't make a decent profit.
2047  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Info Fee Mempool Terupdate & Penjelasannya on: October 11, 2022, 12:04:42 PM

Mungkin kayak sebelum"nya om, kalau harga mulai bergerak cepat feenya baru mengikuti.
2048  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is BTC mining difficulty at ATH? on: October 11, 2022, 11:54:40 AM
So your title and your real question are different. Well, to answer your question, it will depend on who you ask. If they have access to cheap electricity, can afford to mine at loss for a while, etc, then they'll keep mining BTC. If they don't then the most logical decision would be to stop mining or use their rig for another purpose.
2049  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Installing Ledger Live On New Windows Laptop on: October 10, 2022, 12:01:19 PM
You say change your receiver address, do you mean when you send?  But you still are the one checking and confirming the address before you send right?
Yes. That's true, but they can simply program to show an address you type but send it to a different address when they broadcast it. Anything is possible. They might install a backdoor to your computer so you don't have to open the Ledger app to record your keystroke, etc. In short, don't take the risk. If the hash doesn't match then don't use it.
2050  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Purchase of ASICs in the Current Market on: October 10, 2022, 11:49:24 AM
I see. Thank you
I think you should take notice of how others warned you about hosted mining risk. Especially if the company is relatively unknown and has no prior deal/transaction history on the forum. If you don't have enough capital to buy and manage your rig, maybe try looking for other options such as GPU mining or staking. It still has risks, but probably a better gamble compared to giving money to unknown mining sites.
2051  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Switch: Turn things on with Bitcoin on: October 10, 2022, 11:43:13 AM
Nice find. I thought it will allow my smart lamp to accept Bitcoin, but it looks like it requires a specific microcontroller so any led/smart device is not going to cut it. The microcontroller itself looks cheap though, just $5 in my local market, half the price of most smart lamps in the market. The problem is probably preparing the device itself.
2052  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Tutorial Mixer bitcoin Gratis buat si Kismin dan si Farming on: October 10, 2022, 11:21:57 AM

Mungkin bisa jadi alternative kalau mixingnya kecil"an. Apalagi karena tidak ada fee seperti disebutin diatas. Btw apa itu juga berlaku buat whirpoolnya Samourai? Seingat ane whirpool juga salah satu implementasi coinjoin.
2053  Local / Mining (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: GPU Semakin Murah, Saatnya Beli? on: October 10, 2022, 11:05:29 AM

2055  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: mining calculation on: October 09, 2022, 12:35:57 PM
Try whattomine or nicehash, or just google it for more. It is easy to find them, just search with "mining calculator". Spend some time on the mining board and look around, there are also tons of threads talking about them. Just need a little bit of your time to scroll and read.
2056  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Installing Ledger Live On New Windows Laptop on: October 09, 2022, 11:53:47 AM
If the hash match then yea it should be correct and your file should be safe. UI changes should not be a surprise. No app will stay the same forever. You should not focus on the UI but on the hash of the file itself. Assuming you did the verification correctly and the hash match, then the app is definitely not fake. Even if you don't type your seed on a keyboard, a fake app can do other things, such as change your receiver address to the hacker's address. So don't be that optimistic. Just verify the file and double-check it before you do anything with it.
2057  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Multisig Configuration fails - public general key false on: October 09, 2022, 11:46:49 AM
Ledger Live is available on iOS iirc, while Electrum is not. You can probably use other apps if you only plan to monitor your wallet on your phone. As an alternative, you can use Green exclusively to generate and manage your setup if an iOS app is required, but you need 2FA app and more or less trust them because you effectively only control one key. 2058  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Hacked?! What we can do better to protect our funds? on: October 09, 2022, 11:29:14 AM
If I remember correctly the hack happens on the BSC bridge, so the exchange itself is 'safe'. Holding your assets on HW or other wallets won't protect you from stuff like this since the attack is not targeted at your wallet. What can you do is probably be careful when doing cross-chain bridge and pray that when you do it, the network won't fuck you up. In other words, don't use the network/buy an asset on a weak blockchain if you don't want any risk. IMO, this is more suitable on the altcoin board since we're discussing altcoin vulnerability instead of the exchange.
2059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do not use your phone number for crypto registration and other crypto related th on: October 09, 2022, 11:12:21 AM
However, we must have another personal mobile number that is used specifically for code verification purposes from the exchange.
If you have access to burner numbers then it might be a good idea to use them first if you're trying a new exchange. Some exchanges sell their user data to another party, and risking your main phone number might not be a good idea. Even if you prepare a specific number, if you already KYC'ed there, it won't really make a difference.
2060  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard to detect scams nowadays? on: October 08, 2022, 12:45:14 PM
how can we tell if the project is a scam without investing in it?
The classic team info, WP plagiarizing etc is one of them. While it might be more complicated nowadays, giving them money and waiting to get scammed is undoubtedly not a good idea. You can also simply wait and see for others to test the water if you're too lazy to check whether a project or service is going to scam you or not (maybe not the most ethical way to do it though).
