We're mainly interested in an improvement in overall complexity, and both schemes here are O(n). There is a sublinear ring signature paper that in O(log n) in size that we're looking at more closely.

No way! That would be incredible. That would bring this project from secure and private to legit science fiction level anonymous. You could have hundreds or even thousands mixin partners. Correct me if im wrong but wouldn't this be the cypherpunk holy grail? Is it really within our grasp and just need "review"?

Good read. Thanks for that! No links to me directly but I see some links to the results of some of my antics Cheesy.
2063  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: March 04, 2015, 03:27:59 PM
Well. I submitted hodl to urban dictionary with the following definition:

hodl: A long term commitment to uncompromisingly retain possession of a thing without regard for any changes in sentiment or market conditions.

And the following example:

I know ill end up shooting myself in the foot if i try to day trade my bitcoins, so I'm hodling. I'll check back on price when it's time to retire.

They rejected it. I don't know why. If someone else wants to try to resubmit it, go for it.

It seems like, if anything, this video shows the surprising amount of liquidity in this market. I cant believe someone was able to dump 20,000 dollars worth of XMR in a single instant and only swing the price by 6.6%.

It works both ways.  You could buy 1% of the total emission right now, on a single exchange, and move the price maybe 10%.  Try doing that with AAPL shares or JPY.

Lol well yea. I'm comparing it to other altcoins.

It was 50k not a 100k according to bitcoinwisdom charts.

With BTC's recent rise, actual XMR price in USD is pretty steady, despite the 100k dump in the video.

OK, Sherlock, but he had 100k and he soldit in two 50k chunks in the video here: https://vid.me/ima7
Maybe he canceled the second one.

Awesome post, G2M.

2066  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: March 03, 2015, 03:57:36 AM
I am HODLING until the price is either $0.000 or $1,000,000.00.
And even if the price goes to over 1Musd, im only gonna sell 1 bitcoin to support the suffering mainstream currency - HODL the rest.

You are going to sell bitcoin? You are not welcome here. GET OUT! NOW!
2067  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: March 03, 2015, 03:55:59 AM
At first I thought you guys were accidentally misspelling "holding".  Haha
Somebody should add it to urban dictionary. Hodling has its own cult here.

Done.

Sad how few people that notice that this is weird... The media generation are brainwashed enough and think nothing of it. People need to wake up but we have turned into robots more or less..

Move along, Nothing to see here, Nothing to see here, Move along!!!!

I remember the first time I heard of chemtrails by a friend, 15+ years ago. I was laughing so hard. Then one day I realized planes departing from LaGuardia could not make those "things" up in the sky. So many of them zigzagging all over the place. There were all in the wrong directions. One day I observed a plane with the contrail behind it, with chemtrails already up. Contrails do not last much. Chemtrails lasted longer and kept  their shape. They dissolved all along, unlike a contrail. And the size difference was huge. The plane was long gone, so was its contrail. The chemtrails were still up.

I am still not sold into 100% believing what it is, but no way commercial planes are doing this. Natural clouds?

 Cool Roll Eyes

If you want a "rational" explanation that doesnt involve the government doing experiments or trying to cull the population or anything too extreme like this. I have heard arguments that weather derivatives markets are quite well capitalized due to farmers need to buy insurance and the insurance companies need to hedge and that as a result of this anyone who could change the weather in some way could make a lot of money in these markets.

Darkcoin is prone to several cost-less DOS attacks that can destroy the whole network.

If its true do it and I'll pay you. I hold a certain interest in dark coin competition. Also it would be better for everyone involved if this monster was killed before it becomes any bigger and hurts even more people. But lets just say ill believe its THIS easy when i see it myself.

Cool, hiring someone to do criminal activities for your benefit - check with your momma first if she thinks it's a good idea.

Criminal? How? I mean if its some sort of crime than never mind. What law are you referencing?

In my country it's called "telecommunication interference" (word-for-word translation), which is a crime. Depends on the country where the affected party is I suppose.

Well in that case what do we even need byzantine fault tolerance for? Lets just make it illegal to interfere with the network! That's got to be cheaper than all this "mining" nonsense. Cheesy

No but seriously legality aside, if it really was easy to destroy the network it would be in everyone's best interest for someone to do this. That would make w/e value it had bubble value and its better to pop a small bubble than a big one.

I'm currently leaning towards "It's happening, and it's due to humans", but I've switched sides about 4 times in the last few years.

The big problem with the agw believer position: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=374873.msg10495200#msg10495200 (its just a link to a few pages back in this thread)

2073  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: February 26, 2015, 05:52:22 PM
It would be really nice to be able to assign names to the accounts on your Trezor. It's confusing trying to remember which account is which.

+3. This has been asked a few times, and I thoght they said they were working on it way back when. Anyways, this would be a boon to the average user.

The labels will be stored in cloud storage of your choice and securely encrypted via TREZOR.

neat

Anyone have a link to the theory behind this moonbeamwarp attack? I understand the concept behind a time warp attack. But moonbeamwarp? Lol this is getting ridiculous.

thinking about buying some more monero so please someone sell and drive the price down. k thanks Smiley

Let's see if I can help....

There is NO (official) GUI!
And the database isn't done!
And it takes all my windows xp memory!
And there is no druggy bazaar!
And Crypto Kingdom is a ponzi!
And Risto is manipulating the market!
And at any moment BCX's moonbeamwarp exploit attack will materialize!

And... and... and...

And... and... and... you are a pathetic troll. You seem to spend a lot of time hanging around this coin. Go back to your dungeon Igor.

2077  Other / Meta / Re: all my posts are being deleted and I am guessing a ban soon... on: February 25, 2015, 02:19:55 AM
How does one even get a ban in the first place while trying to do something productive. You must have really gone out your way to get banned Undecided

I got banned once for giving away "altcoins" when i was in reality giving away crypto equity redeemable for hard physical assets which were proven to be in my possession. So it definitely can happen to the best of us. No hard feelings badbear Smiley I thank you for your understanding when you unbanned me.

*edit* that came off a bit rude. i was violating the spirit of the law (i did not realize this at the time) if not the letter since the idea was to prevent the solicitation of non substantive posts. but i digress. im a good guy with good intentions who got banned.

2nd

though i mean where is it going to save this info? on the trezor? the extra memory would provide a space for malware to potentially infest. the client? than as soon as you plug it into a different computer you lose the data. server side? maybe server side. can anyone see any drawbacks?
2080  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Reddit’s science forum banned climate deniers. on: February 24, 2015, 09:01:24 PM
Some people should be banned.  I mean, you wouldn't want to invite a bunch of religious zealots to a discussion of evolution and astrophysics---they just don't have the same shared assumptions to get the conversation going.

Sure. We all support reddit's right to do what they did. And even if the AGW true believer position is unsound and unfounded, it makes sense for them to want to have a place to discuss the details of their beliefs without constant interruption. However they should probably want to have other places which are open to dissenting positions, i wonder if they simultaneously opened a different reddit where skepticism is welcome. If not than this would offer some support for the idea that they are dogmatic in their beliefs.
