Sure but just so you know its pretty out dated now. Now it uses things like hash chains. At the time though I really do think it had a big impact on the price. You have to consider nxt was so young and no one had any idea how it worked or if they could trust it.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E_ToOMG2l1XThx6YnyXEajXaf6H1k2yjq8XkAF0ScB4/edit?usp=sharing

This essay idea is much better though. Grin It would bring together a lot of ideas I've been working on for years. Ill just say this. When people talk about their dishwasher being able to purchase excess power from the neighbors solar panel, that is good and well and all, but think it misses the much bigger picture.
1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 10, 2016, 12:58:40 AM
Seems the forum has been down for a couple hours.....

Down more than up the last few days.

True, but I still find it quite extraordinary that 1 btc can only buy 1/10th of the coins it could just a few weeks ago.

I want so bad to buy more, but wow... that mental barrier is still taking me time to adjust to! Tongue

Maybe this will help you adjust.  As I see things in XMR and not btc I look at it like this instead....  You need 10X the btc to buy the same amount of Monero.  I guess that doesn't make it better, it makes it worse.

Edit: Forget it, Explorer says Cheap Coinz!

I keep nibbling because I am *so* close to reaching my next accumulation goal.  If it goes much higher, I doubt it will ever happen, so my window of opportunity is potentially quite small.  Funny, you know that when the growth happens, it happens lightning fast, but to experience it (again) does leave one slightly bewildered, and looking under all of the sofa cushions.  And through the sock drawer, and old coat pockets, and...

Don't forget to check the change returns in vending machines.

Buy Support is really quite high while the sell support resistance has dropped off enormously these last couple of hours. Good indicators?

Of course. That's always a good indicator if you are long.
1345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: September 09, 2016, 06:10:32 PM
Any whales who want to sponsor me to write an essay for IOTA similar to the one I wrote early on for NXT? Grin
1346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 09, 2016, 03:58:22 PM
monero is 2 years almost old.
wondering why people notice monero only now.

I think many early investigators found the software unapproachable and so quickly lost interest. We have no GUI yet still to this day. So that stopped any innitial momentum it might have gained dead in its tracks. Since then we have had to slowly build a different sort of community. One not based on currency swing trading opportunists. That has been a slower grind than if we had had those sorts of people in the community all along. But perhaps that carries its own sort of long term benefit, or is at-least indicative of a different tack this project has taken compared to other projects.
1347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Censorship Resistant Vanilla WoW Character on Blockchain (Nostalrius Solution) on: September 09, 2016, 06:30:45 AM
Many of you may be aware of the Nostalrius debacle. For those of you who aren't allow me to summarize.

The story:

Nostalrius was the largest, most popular and most respected vanilla wow private server of all time. It became so popular that Blizzard threatened them with legal action and forced the devs to shutter the project. So many people were enraged and heart broken that it turned into a PR shitstorm. Hundreds of thousands of people lost countless hours of time investment. The characters were never recovered.

The problem:

The community is afraid to commit to a new sever because they are afraid it will just happen over and over again. Now you think, why not just switch to a new server. The obvious answer is you would be lv 1 again. So why not just make a server where everyone is level cap right away? Well you could do that but it would rob the game of so much of its soul. The leveling and gearing process segregates the community in a way that is healthy and good.

The solution in a nut shell:

Private servers will periodically publish a database containing all of the character data (probably 10gb or less for a million users) for all of their users while simultaneously publishing a hash of that data on the blockchain. Servers that all play by the same rules and trust each other can federate and the same character could be accessed on any server that was a member of the federation. Your character would "live" on the blockchain, so to speak, making it censorship resistant. Blizzard could censor any server they wanted but they would only ever be hacking at the branches while the roots (our characters and their progress and achievements) are as timeless and immutable as the blockchain they live on.

The technical specifics:

Too be added tomorrow. It is getting late.

For the record, I am a nigger kike cracker gook wop spic hallucinating cat smoking a cigarette in a holder.  And I exhibit all of the typical characteristics of my race and culture.  People trigger on that race stuff, particularly in language. It seems incredibly stupid to me, a cultivated psychosis.

Well anyway free speech, its meaning, and purpose, are super interesting topics that I would love to talk about. But it just feels... wrong... here. That's why we should have an off topic thread.

I agree. If you open one, LMK! Have a good night, and to you nioc!

Thread made.

Ok so we are going to have a biggest Jew competition are we? You don't want to open that box. I am the kung fu master of being a jew. Cheesy

We need a monero community off topic thread. I feel bad posting silly stuff like this in the speculation thread but I still want to post it none the less.

Yeah. I guess so. I am not fond of threads like this that call minorities where I live as "Jews"... Should I report your post as racism? I'm not quite sure tbh. I have always enjoyed your commentary, but this is just f'ed up man... Tongue

Racism? Are you insane. I don't have anything against the jewish race or religion. I'm talking about one of their most amiable traits... Frugality... And dont even tell me stereotypes don't result from generally true observation, that would just be ignorant.

Furthermore how in the heck did I ever do this "call minorities where I live as "Jews"...". I never said anything about the minorities where you live. I dont even know where you live or anything about the minorities that live there since I don't know where you live. I called myself a jew. Are you trying to say that I am a minority where you live?

I have a small amount of btc that should arrive tomorrow and is earmarked for Monero.  Can't wait to buy at my highest price yet. Grin Tongue

Good on yer.  I'm done buying for now because I've been neglecting other expenses but going Full Ramen was the best thing I've ever done. Cool

Lol.. full ramen, thanks that's awesome!!! I am regretting not doing so now myself. But.. There is still time. Wink

That's an AmericanPegasusism. Tongue

That guy was so vocal when the price was low. I cant believe we aren't hearing from him now that its up up up. Where is our other resident equine?

It appears our suspicions are confirmed! Atleast some amount of the bitcoin rally is being caused by someone buying bitcoin as a gateway into monero. Grin

I can't see any other reason why the price took off today either. No other btc news that I know of, and yourself?

I would guess that's what it is if someone forced me to guess. Don't know if I would bet on it. Sometimes individual action kicks free some loose snow and than momentum begets momentum.

It's like friday night came early on polo.   Shocked

It appears that not everyone has the patience to wait for the weekend.  I'm waiting (patiently?) for a last try dump.  Will it come, and how deep will it cut?

Not me. I'm more scared of missing an up swing than a down.

https://blog.bity.com/2016/09/06/whitehat-withdrawal-contract-final-deposit-is-available/

The DarkDAO attacker withdrew 3.64 million ETC on September 6th 00:02 CET.
The funds are now located inside this address 0x5e8f0e63e7614c47079a41ad4c37be7def06df5a. At the time of writing most of the funds are intact except for 1,000 ETC the attacker donated to an address associated with ETC development. The WHG kindly ask that the recipient of these funds deposit the 1000 ETC to the withdraw contract so it can be distributed to its rightful owners.

DO NOT FORGET CODE IS LAW

We are not law enforcement or police and first of all we believe he is not hacker or attacker but very talented person who kindly helped us find bug in the system and should be awarded for this not punished!

who is we ?
ETC community, is it not? Than me! If this is not what ETC community feels like so my mistake and I should not be here. I was mislead to think like it.

You and I have similar feelings. So atleast one person shares your position.

He seems to be a newbie and slack channel is not the best spot to buy IOTAs for newbies as we have learnt over the last weeks  Wink

He'll be fine as long as he uses escrow.
