actually you all misinterpreted my point entirely, i am not pissed off at the discounts as such.

im pissed that each time they are just small enough to barely make a difference.

NOT ONCE have i thought, what a bargain!! Im in!!

its always. ffs, might as well.

and let us be fair, these products barely make the 'good' grade.

what group buy??

Well you don't have to buy one every time there is a price drop, you can wait for a couple of price drops till its worthwhile. Smiley

Closer but still not quite....

my point is... the discounts are so small that they pretty much cancel out the slight increase in profit by 'waiting' for a better deal.

its too fine basically.

i dont knock him/them for doing it, i would probly do the same.

but its having your nose rubbed in the fact that 'he/they can do what they like'

and if you buy now its hardly worth it, and if you wait for the price to drop, the profit will have dropped too so they essentially cancel each other out.

AND - my batch 2 just started beepin out of teh blue while batch 4 and half a dozen S1 carried on regardless.

ive rebooted, ive reseated, i've reconnected, ive power cycled, ive dusted, ive pulled the sd, ive replaced the sd with the 1l1l1l1l1l1l img file...

it boots ok but no beep and 0GH & 0C

Didn't you also have trouble with one of you S1's not hashing?

Could be a network issue, I had trouble early on when I had a large farm of S1's and various other bits running on a Powerline network, they kept killing their own network connections and I'd have ants beeping all over the place.

Right now bitmain has the cheapest (arguably) 1THs miners. It makes sense for them to do things this way. And they are lowering prices MUCH faster than their competitors which leads to more people buying their hardware, Its a savvy business move and we benefit from the lowered price. Their hardware works just fine. Could be packed better but overall just works. And that is the most important quality in all this. The ASIC market at the 1THs+  level is relatively small in terms of actual players (not counting non-shipping pre-orders like BFL and such). There are only a couple of real players in the field. And price is a huge competitive advantage.

If spondoolies lowered their prices to something comparable to bitmain they would dominate the market. But not likley as they are still in the very early stages of growth. bitmain is an established player and has the momentum needed to stay. spondoolies still has not even hit their year mark benchmark. Other competitors are in the same boat. Bitmain simply are the better value right now from a straight price point. This is disregarding all the other considerations in Ghs per watt and such.

Also I imagine its a LOT more expensive to manufacture in Israel than it is in China. I think the markup on the Chinese units is substantially higher as well. This includes the A1 Dragon miners and the Bitmain ones.

I've ordered a lot of hardware from Bitmain in the past and now I've got like 12 coupons on bitmain (6 for the S1 and 6 for the S2) and I see there's a donate button, does that mean I can transfer them to someone else? Has anyone done this... sorry for the slightly off-topic post.

No I think its on topic. Wanna do a test? PM me your Reciever ID and I'll send you a S1 coupon, and then you can send it back Smiley

I have 5 S1 and a few S2 if you want to trade ?
user id is pjcltd

I donated you 1 S1 coupon, let me know if you got it.
2145  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: No preorder, ships directly from the biggest 1T Dragon miner factory. 2350$ on: May 14, 2014, 03:17:53 PM
Sorry for not finishing putting all the info online.
I still have a lot to do beside this.
The package I am offering is the same as they do.
The advantage I am offering is, I am going to controle that they are shipping the latest and newest miners.

Hope you don't think I am trashing your thread. I know you have spent alot of time visiting suppliers on your trip, which is appreciated.

If the deal is the same and the price is the same, its just up to the buyer to be sure they are getting a good deal.

Good luck, I'll check back on prices etc.

Final tape out for the Neptunes was in februari 2014.
Three months later still no shipping date, no photo's, no screenshots, nothing.

Thats well within the timescale limits for TSMC production I would think.
2150  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: May 14, 2014, 12:45:52 PM
Does anyone have this firmware available for download?  I see talk of posting it but that's it.  Would love to be able to OC an October unit past 750.  Thanks

My PM's both here and on KNC's forum have gone unanswered
2151  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: No preorder, ships directly from the biggest 1T Dragon miner factory in China. on: May 14, 2014, 12:41:43 PM
Yes these are directly from the LK Group.
I help them sell.
I already bought a test batch with different models for personal use to see wich model is best.
I will upload photo's tomorrow to see you can spot the difference.
It's only a small detail, but one works better than the other.
If I got an order, I will have them send the best working models out of the door.

The modules are rock solid.
The older models have 1000 watt PSU, the newer models have 1200 watt PSU.

OK, so, please don't take this the wrong way, I'm already a buyer of Dragon miners from various locations for various clients and myself.

Can you explain the advantage of ordering from you rather than direct from lketc LK Group Ltd's web site?

There is no advantage in price or shipping, and you aren't offering the spare parts package they are:

  • 1pcs : data board
  • 1pcs : module cable line
  • 1pcs:   raspberry pi cable line
  • 1pcs :  SD card (English version)

That being said if you were offering these at sub $2K which is what BITMAIN are selling the S2 for (including coupon) then I'd be very interested. Even slightly above $2K would be advantageous.

i find these piddly price cuts quite offensive...

hey guys, a week after i overcharged you for almost exactly a TH, here i am again with a HUGE discount...

reminds me of the 0.05BTC coupons or were they 0.005

whatever its a pisstake.

Any discount is a good discount in my books.
2153  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Group Buy Antminer S2 $1650.- May 25th - Official Distributor on: May 14, 2014, 08:41:21 AM
Hi can you ship to u.k. if we buy 10 unit.

I imagine these are shipping direct from the factory rather than going to Miami and then shipping from there, so the price should include shipping to anywhere in the world.
2154  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bitmine CoinCraft Series Users Thread - Troubleshooting, Efficiency, O/C on: May 14, 2014, 08:36:54 AM
I have a Coincraft Dragon miner clone, with a Rasp PI that won't boot. I never liked the interface on this miner, anyway, so can anyone tell me if I can use another image to put on the SD card for a better interface with english menus?

IE are all Coincraft Dragon clones usable with the same software?

2155  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: No preorder, ships directly from the biggest 1T Dragon miner factory in China. on: May 14, 2014, 08:25:32 AM
I have been visiting a lot of factories in China lately.
I still have to crop a lot photo's and update the thread.
The factory in Dongguan is not only the biggest 1T Dragon miner factory, but they also sell the modules to
other workshops.
Those workshops build their own cases and buy their own PSU.
In all cases that I have seen, they use cheaper components to increase their profits.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=594728

Are these direct from the LK Group Ltd factory?

Any chance to get names and model numbers of the PSU's being used?
2156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 14, 2014, 07:55:08 AM
Do a search for 28nm on this thread and you'll see as much if not more concern that 28nm wasn't possible in May/June/July 2013 and KnC were a sham. I'm not saying that they won't have delays, but they have beaten expectation the keyboard experts on this forum before, who's to say they won't again?

28nm delays are irrelevant for Neptune, not sure if their scrypt miner is 28 or 20nm, I imagine 28nm.

28nm delays at TSMC don't affect 20nm, TSCMC has two dedicated fabs (fabs 12 and fab 16) for 20nm that are separate from the other 28nm fabs and was due to bring another 20nm fab (fab15) online in May.
2157  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Newbie question: How to make my Antminer S1 work? on: May 14, 2014, 12:15:41 AM
Default username and password are both 'root'.

Yeah, I noticed that with a simple search. I asked this one because I'm crazy to see that miner working as fast as possible. But what about using a paper clip in my PSU? Can I use my miner this way in long term?

You think too much about that paper clip. Paper clips is the simple way to power on the PSU. The idea is short PS-ON pin with ground. Similar function available on mainboard. So use any mean you like to short PS-ON with ground.

Ok, I'm not paranoid about the paper clip anymore. lol.
The problem now is about making my asic mine (the best part, haha).

You have to set the miner to use the same gateway and DNS servers as your computers on your network.

Its fine, I wrap mine in electrical tape just to be sure, but its not needed.

If you want something better, then http://www.ebay.com/itm/JUMP-START-ON-OFF-EPS-ATX-24-PIN-POWER-SUPPLY-WITHOUT-A-MOTHERBOARD-USA-MADE-/261256314562?pt=US_Power_Cables_Connectors&hash=item3cd416fec2 would do the trick.

Yes, the leds are blinking as if they were working correctly.

Now the Antminer's Fan does not work at all. I didn't let it turned on for a while because I'm afraid to fry it.

I also thought it could be because it is not hot yet, but need to know this one fur sure, because that was not so cheap.  Undecided

So don't worry about the fan for now, have you tried connecting to the miner with a web browser? It should be on 192.168.1.99 or 192.168.2.99 there should be sticker on the miner telling you what IP address it is.

You need to have your computer on the same IP range to connect to it. e.g. 192.168.1.55 for example, your network might already be set on the 192.168.1.x IP range already, so you will need to find that out, how you do that is then depending on your computer. The same if you need to change your IP address to match the range on the miner, it depends if you have a Windows or Mac or Linux box how you make that change.

My miner has 192.168.0.1 as his default ip. I've tried loading it here in my Chrome browser but didn't work. I don't know what should be the default network mask, gateway and ip. I'm using Fedora 32 Bits, by the way.

EDIT: My fan is spinning right now, yay!!!  Grin Cheesy

The only problem at this moment is configurating my network to connect with it. I have Wi-fi connection, but right now I'm trying via ethernet cable. I think I will switch to wi-fi mode and see what happens.  Wink

EDIT again: Ooops, his ip is 192.168.199. My bad!

You can't configure wifi mode until you have first connected with ethernet.

First you need to set you Fedora to the same net range as the Ant if its not already.

Check IP address of fedora, open a console and type ifconfing in the console window, that should give you lots of info but you will need to look for the IP address of eth0 probably.
