1341  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANN] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: December 19, 2014, 11:12:34 PM
Anyone know what 400GH/s 20nm chip Hashcoins is planning on using in their 0.26J/GH at the wall Uranus miner?

One made from unicorn tears?
1342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [17th Dec] on: December 18, 2014, 09:30:23 PM
I've updated dogies guide rating from 5/10 down to 1/10

Why is BA 5/10 ethics even though they are several times more unethical than the current BFL? In fact I'd say they are the least ethical company still selling hardware.

We've been though this so many times... Show me an ethics score modifier that I can actually apply to BA.

It's clear as day that hashcoins is a scam.

Apart from they're delivering Apollo and Ares orders absolutely fine, and there are ZERO reports of the Zeus being 'dodgy'. If you're absolutely 100% sure its a scam, then I'll take you up on a 10 to 0 escrowed btc bet. If their Zeus boards are even remotely close to as they claim, I get 10btc. If not, you get an I told you so. ....Which will happen right, because you're 100% sure?

If you're not, then you shouldn't be flaming me for not marking a company a scam which has ZERO reports from CUSTOMERS about Zeus boards being bad.

Really its easy to have ZERO reports from ZERO customers.

Note if you are planning on reselling the HOLIDAY SPECIAL: SP20 MINI FARM BATCH 2 that it specifically says:

Note: The units are not for reselling or distribution. Reshipping the units will void the warranty.

Looks like a lot of cost cutting has been done to maximize profit.

Not exactly .. I can see this a lot in most industrial setups, where you do not need all the bells and whistles for the consumer market.
They market it as a 1.7 thash home miner not industrial.

The "home" doesn't necessarily mean the bedroom or den.

Ugh encode in something less proprietary and draconian than Apple codecs

Hey, windows is much more draconian...
Use VLC to play/convert .mov on windows OR download Quicktime for windows, it is free.
Cheers

Who is using windows?

[soapbox]
Sorry but no-one is more controlling, draconian or inflexible than Apple, talk about boring, everything looks the same, its like living on a council estate and working in a gulag.

Apple have become the IBM they were designed to overthrow, control freaks with no ideas of their own or individuality.

To test different fans this is what I did:

That's a nice idea!  Grin You can even install a fan speed regulator outside the case

Have you tried GT1850 with the SP20 set to 0.6v?

Yes, they just don't push enough air.

I've tried the GT1850 and up to the 4250

LOL trust you to get the only one that doesn't adjust the fan.

Tried contacting support?

Hey jimmothy you have to restart minergate after setting the fan, it doesn't adjust on the fly.

Nice... how much power is in use at the wall at full hashing power?

About 1120W

What concerns me more is that those miners behind him are actually set up for mining; as in not manufacture, but farming...

Does that mean Bitmain is actually doing "burn-in-testing" on the live net too (before selling it to "us")?!?

of course......

Seems like it... Doesn't it... Huh

Ever since the S1, strange you act like its some big conspiracy. Antminers have been delivered covered in dust on the fans since the beginning.

Do you know amount that is non taxed if importing goods in to USA? (400$ ?)
added: as far as i know you cant get goods until they are cleared from customs... unless im missing something

If its coming from China to US or from Europe to US there won't be any customs, duty or tax charges AFAIK, there isn't usually.

My units have been shipping via EU so far. Its really weird when the UPS guy comes and doesn't demand payment :s

Somehow I got away with it for my SP20 as well

This is happening quite often now. how can i fix this? and why does it happen

I think that maybe you are underclocking it too much. When we first got the SP20's they came with the Watts setting at 166 and they wouldn't stay up for more than a few minutes. When zvi told us we should push the watts up to 288 then everything worked great, but now people are tweaking them lower and lower you are approaching the point where the boards aren't getting enough power perhaps.
1357  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 17, 2014, 10:09:40 AM
They're not wrong when they say SP31 is the worlds most efficient miner right enough  Smiley

I know, I'm wondering if with 208V max, whether I shouldn't bother with the SP35, yes I may get 5TH but is it worth $200 extra if my power delivery can't drive it at the higher level.
1358  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 17, 2014, 10:07:57 AM
Still having issues with my sp30 and an sp20

Some of the Asics constantly fail and stay in failed state no matter what I Do  : rolling back firwmware upgrading to newest all that nothing seems to work.

I cant get the sp30 to hash over 3k and the sp20 barely breaks 1TH with 3 asics down.

I get the feeling I have bad PSU's on the sp30

I'm sure they will replace them with that sort of performance loss, have you tried emailing Guy or Katya with your support ticket details directly for an RMA?

For the SP20 they may just be able to send out a new board. But the SP30 may need a replacement unit.
1359  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 17, 2014, 09:43:27 AM
my understanding is that the SP31 is limited to 1250W per emerson1200 if its on 208V power?

looking to squeeze some juice out of it to get past 4.7TH with 50C temps on the backside

On mine one PSU runs at 1360 and the other at 1250W

Uptime:13649 | FPGA ver:62
-----BOARD-0-----
PSU[EMERSON1200]: 1392->1248w[1248 1248 1248] (->1235w[1234 1235 1232]) (lim=1250) 0c cooling:0/0x10000000
-----BOARD-1-----
PSU[EMERSON1200]: 1488->1356w[1356 1356 1356] (->1269w[1269 1269 1268]) (lim=1360) 0c cooling:0/0x10000000

i get 4.8TH/s on mine at max settings - running 0.53w/GH all day long.

Yes but you aren't on 208V you are on 230/240V

Ah yes, i've done that ignorant mindset that we regularly see, "there is no existence outside of my own country" thing.

Apologies.

LOL or you are just lucky to have a US hosting partner with 240.. mines only 208V, mind you I get a solid 4.7TH at those settings.
1360  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Spondoolies SP20 review - A Green miner with a Loud fan on: December 17, 2014, 09:42:36 AM
Thank you for the review.

Thank you too for letting us review such a great product!

Before I started to operate SP20, I thought this kind of products are just like many other miners on the market: You stack them up in a mining farm and pay lots of electricity and cooling cost, and sell the coins to cover these cost, and bring down the bitcoin exchange rate during the process. I even planned to give it to friends who are interested in bitcoin after this review

But after seeing the stunning efficiency of this miner, I'm very impressed. I had a feeling that the old good mining time is back: With this unit running at 500W, the electricity cost is neglectable, so anyone can just hold on to all the mined coins without selling a bit

Now I'm very interested to run it for an extensive period of time with a modified cooling solution

so far no  one has found a better fan solution.  I do think if you fully tear the machine down it could be cooled quieter.

  Right now I have six.
  I wish I ordered more.
I would try lower downclock then my 1350gh and 750 watts.
  your review means my 6 x 750 watt = 4.5kwatts and 6 x 1350 = 8100gh  could read
  6 x 440 watts = 2.6 kwatts and 6 x 940 = 5640gh

I can do more then the 6.  I will look forward to any idea you have to manage  noise.

I think the only way to cool it down better without lowering ambient is to take it out of the case and strap fans or point fans at the boards individually.

There is however one problem handling the boards. The heatsinks are only secured in two diagonally opposite locations, and it only takes a small bit of pressure to move the heatsink off the die which breaks the TIM seal between the die and the heatsink, it also may risk crushing or damaging the die, although that hasn't happened to me yet. But I think once you disturb the TIM seal it can affect temps.
