Congrats to both winners, and thanks Kano for putting together the contest.

Hate them both, hate! Taking my precious.... Tongue

Looks like they had 30BTC come in and go out in the last few days

If the goods are marked "Made in Israel" or if customs have half a clue (and they usually do) then I know for sure it doesn't matter where you are sending them from, you are in for a world of pain trying to get them into a country that restricts imports from Israel. I deal with sending stuff to Israel and the ME every month, its a PITA at the best of times, not worth having your goods impounded or sent back or even destroyed.
1184  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [lee group]340$ the sales promotion of hosted antminer S5(golden psu included) on: January 29, 2015, 09:29:30 PM
But not being able to change the pools myself is problematic.  I rent all my miners out on betarigs.  So that's a big negative for me.

Just to clarify, are we allowed three pools of our choice or are we limited to your three pools?

I have several machines that he hosts (not S5's but I presume they are the same), you can specify any 3 pools that you want.

The easiest way to manage rigs is to use MiningRigRentals instead of Betarigs, you set that as your first pool on the machines along with a couple of backups. From the MRR site you can then add up to 5 pools and add/swap/delete/re-order them to your hearts content.

Thanks Tiggger.  MRR looks like a good site.  But I have built up too much good reputation to leave Betarigs.  I like the idea of selecting backup pools right on the rental site though.  Betarigs does not have that.
My preference to back up is BAN.  But as Philip will attest, getting paid lately has been problematic.  So I have had to change the back up on all my rigs.  Getting to be a tedious job.
Well I will mull it over a little.  Thanks for the input.

I used betarigs, its easy, you just set it as pool#1 as it only activates when your rig is rented. Then set your normal pool for pool#2 and backup for pool#3

As I said, I would like remote access to change pools on the fly as well so you can take advantage of competitions such as kano's or late payouts at BAN or eligius.

I don't have an opinion on them, but I would be careful if your country restricts the import of goods produced in restricted country, doesn't matter where you import them from, they were still produced there.

Frankly I am the little guy looking at the camera saying wtf?

I think all of this started when I stumbled on the westhash-nicehash problem for GAW-ZEN.  The problem was on GAW-ZEN not westhash or nicehash

That was  Back in August- Sept.

Somehow I manage to attract too much attention on this site.

I can blame all that on FriedCat and his tubes , but in the world of BTC

5 months ago is more like 50 years ago. so that story is old.

I think I should consider taking a bit of a vacation from writing any posts.
I am renting my signature and have been paid to do so up front. Once that time has passed I may just read posts rather then write them.  I am too old to be playing around on the net on this forum or any other.

Meh... you should be posting and playing devils advocate more not less.

+1 except Philip is responsible for all the bad luck in the pools this week Tongue
1187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Philipma1957's attempt to rate current Manufacturers of Asic for home mining. on: January 29, 2015, 12:58:34 PM
I think the opposite, people can see the results after they post their scores anyway and having a daily update of the results keeps any cries of foul play on behalf of the organisers to a minimum.
1188  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 29, 2015, 09:18:52 AM
Apologies if this has been asked before..I have 2 SP20s that I'm having an issue enabling API access on. When I add my monitoring server ip into the cgminer.conf file, save it and restart minergate, the ip that I've set disappears from the cgminer.conf file. This is only happening on 2 of them, the other 3 work fine. Any suggestions?

To edit this file, please use SSH to log in to your miner, and then use vi /etc/cgminer.conf.template

No payment yet.

How many blocks would we need to hit, fairly quickly to get back on track? 4

but the wallet is being filled by other means so we won't have to wait that long
1190  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANN] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: January 29, 2015, 01:20:41 AM
Seeing as this is the Bitcoin Hardware forum, Scrypt miners are irrelevant. What is the status of the SHA256 miners?

Do they even make/sell Bitcoin miners or just resell Scrypt miners?

i think if you could wire a PWM connector to the SP-tech connector you could turn it into an adapter.

That gear was about 2 btc in value.
...
We'll donate 2 btc for a cause philipma1957 will choose.

On a side note, I believe that the current poll after the drama Dogie organized will be severely skewed.
Especially, since anyone with gmail account can vote now.

Guy

after 11 voters it seems okay.

@ guy it is wed we will keep pool running until monday.  we  will post it here  then ask biffa to close it.

At that time I will ask for your company to send the 2 btc to wiki.

Ok. I'm glad Zich took snapshot of the previous poll tough.

The previous ones on the forum didnt run long enough for other manufacturers customers to make an impact either. Plus the poll I put on gdrive isn't searchable on google, you have to have the URL to use it and the URL is only available here. I don't see much difference tbh other than the format is neater and you only need one form for all the questions.

But hey.. Smiley took me like 10 minutes to do and cost me zilch so if you don't want it then no problemo Smiley
It's easy to do massive email campaign with the pole link, asking non customers to vote and skew the results.
Keep it. Let's see.

Yes and the same thing could be said about the poll here, just have to sign up to the forum to vote.

Doesn't matter his response, what matters is: is there any chance of watercooled Spondoolies miner?!?!?!
There are significant challenges to a watercooled SP20.

Primarily, I'm too busy to set it all up. Wink

1199  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Philipma1957's attempt to rate current Manufacturers of Asic for home mining. on: January 28, 2015, 03:07:15 PM
How about a google form: http://goo.gl/forms/sOFBGtgj32

I think that the poll should be open only to forum members. There is good chance it will be skewed now.

Guy

Oh I don't know, any poll can be skewed even the ones here if you put enough effort into it.

I made the gdrive one so you could only vote once (per google account)
1200  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Philipma1957's attempt to rate current Manufacturers of Asic for home mining. on: January 28, 2015, 03:05:05 PM
You could probably count on 1 hand how many people care about this poll.

You'd need 8 hands if judging by the previous version that ran here for a few hours. Tongue
