my understanding is that the SP31 is limited to 1250W per emerson1200 if its on 208V power?

looking to squeeze some juice out of it to get past 4.7TH with 50C temps on the backside

On mine one PSU runs at 1360 and the other at 1250W

Uptime:13649 | FPGA ver:62
-----BOARD-0-----
PSU[EMERSON1200]: 1392->1248w[1248 1248 1248] (->1235w[1234 1235 1232]) (lim=1250) 0c cooling:0/0x10000000
-----BOARD-1-----
PSU[EMERSON1200]: 1488->1356w[1356 1356 1356] (->1269w[1269 1269 1268]) (lim=1360) 0c cooling:0/0x10000000

i get 4.8TH/s on mine at max settings - running 0.53w/GH all day long.

Yes but you aren't on 208V you are on 230/240V

1363  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Spondoolies SP20 review - A Green miner with a Loud fan on: December 17, 2014, 08:27:28 AM
And the only problem for home mining is its noise, just like a vacuum cleaning running, it is impossible to run at home. With even one door closed I can hear it clearly far away. So either you run it in a specialized garage/mining farm, or you have to take some modification for the cooling system. I will take it apart tomorrow to see what I can do with it

I suppose that the original fan deliver a huge amount of airflow like 200 CFM maximum, but when heavily under clocked, maybe a general low CFM/noise fan can deal with the heat

I'm personally thinking of buying a better fan and swapping it in, wonder if that'll make a huge difference?

Just heats up quicker.

Their aren't any fans that can push the amount of air needed to keep them cool enough to hit their target speed, AND keep quiet.

But you can run them in ultra low power mode and still get great results, sound wise at 40% the fans aren't so bad.

I'd say part of the sound comes from fan's vibrations amplified by Sp20's case.

I did not check whether the fan has spacers/silencers (I'm not sure how to call them) between itself and the case.

spiccioli

Unfortunately the fan sounds like that even outside the case.

Anyone got it working with a wifi dongle? I'm looking to free up some wires.

The support is experimental: http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/blogs/technical-blog/14142985-development-version-1-3-18-with-experimental-wifi-support

Looks like the rush is over?

my SP20 just went rented for 0.1466/TH/day.
sitting pretty  Cheesy

and nicehash is

Code:
SHA256	3334	2514.9770 TH/s	0.1211 BTC/TH/Day  863%

Just seems to be a lot rented out at 0.0140 BTC/TH/Day

You're too close with the decibel meter, and you're in the wind stream. Move a metre back for a more reliable reading.
Point is, it's loud. Moving the SPL meter further away will still register as "too loud to be in a bedroom"

I agree, and I've been trying different fans to replace the original, not running off the speed controlled fan header on the mainboard but off a molex on the PSU.

I've yet to come across a fan yet that provides the cooling power of the one they have but isn't much quieter.

I just have to put some time together to write it up Smiley

In other news they just dropped the prices across the range for a Holiday sale!

I wanted to know the upper right of the board is that the fan plug?

TIA   phil

Yes it is Phil and its not a standard vga fan plug its a micro molex, but not sure exactly which one.

Got a feeling its the 4 wire version of this: http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=picospox&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction&parentKey=wire_to_board_connectors

PS: Any ideas on how to get the WAN address showing? I'm still manually connecting to it directly as it never shows on myminer.io. Anyhow, I'm really happy with it (1.6TH/s stable). It managed to crash completely twice during the day (in which there was no connection to the IP and I had to restart it manually), but that's probably due to overheating. First impressions and reviews/pics will come tomorrow after I let it run a complete night.

The units report back "home" if in the settings tab you have that option checked (it's on by default though). Then the myminer.io gets updated ..

Note: myminer.io does not list your miner if:
1. the miner does not see the net (i.e. you mine on your local p2pool node or similar)
2. if the register option is off (settings tab, at the bottom)
3. your PC and the miners are in different subnets

Make sure the miners get their time right (ntp), and have a consistent pool connection.

What ports does the SP20 talk to myminer.io on?

With the review can we have also some photos of the SP20 ? Or is it not possible ?  Cheesy .

I think they are going to do their own threads

Thanks everyone again for the help! I almost had the network admin to come along to help, LOL.

Lucky, if my network admin saw me running a miner on the network at work I'd be up for the chop Shocked
1378  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: December 15, 2014, 07:42:58 PM
It all depends on the temps if you go into Asic Stats. Anything near 120C on the Asics and they will probably be hitting the limit of 125 and underclocking themselves.

1379  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: December 15, 2014, 05:43:22 PM
But if you want to test the SP20 with the new extronance bug fix by all means go ahead, you would be doing us all a favour by testing it. Just post the results so we can have a look and be very careful. Backup the old flash build and the cgminer twice. Once on the machine and once locally. If you're unsure of what you're doing stop...I've seen alot of stuff break over the years from bad flashing and other screwups without the tech guy making a backup to re-flash. It's an $800 mistake if it goes wrong.

By only replacing cgminer binary you can not brick or damage your miner. It is now a firmware update, only the cgminer binary (one executable file) with a newer one. Nevertheless it is true that one should be careful when doing manual modifications on miners.

This binary was provided by ckolivas (thanks again, Con) and is working flawlessly: https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=miners&a=1&addr=1JFUoyUSnLcrMjfq3hEBFsNLhLk5QY3vQR

+1 i've been waiting to see if Zvi would implement the extranonce.sub but I can't consider it for my SP-Tech miners from a nicehash branch that hasn't been fully tested.

We've already asked Zvi to include our very small patch into their firmware, hopefully they'll include it soon.

no just point your miners at nicehash and enjoy the 3x to 7x rental rate while it lasts. I got .67 btc in 25 hours.  my miners (7th) should earn about .1btc in that time frame.

True, extranonce.subscribe is not absolutely required to mine on NiceHash/WestHash, you can just point your miners to our stratum servers. However, if you have a fast miner (anything > 1TH) mining with extranonce.subscribe patched cgminer gives you a bit better payouts since your hashrate is completely stable - it doesn't fluctuate when orders changes on nicehash/westhash - no disconnects from the stratum. It's only a matter of a few percents in terms of profitability, but sometimes every percent counts.

I am curious as to what kind of game you are playing?
What is a basis for much higher payouts?
Explain, otherwise I will consider it a long con or a simple pyramid scheme.

Roll Eyes

They aren't doing anything, all they are doing is leasing their rigs out.
The people who are leasing the rigs, choose what to pay to lease the rigs and what coin to mine.
All the hardware person has to do is pick a reasonable fee to charge and make sure their miner stays online for the duration of the hire period.

The coin being mined may be a long con, or a simple pyramid scheme or just a POS coin, but thats the choice/risk of the person leasing the rig. This has been going on for a long time in the alt-coin world.

it is NOT that simple. If you are leasing your rigs out KNOWINGLY, then you are culpable as well.

But you don't have control over what the person leasing the rig mines, thats up to them.

Thanks guys, but I'm trying to connect this to a workspace network that requires me to add the MAC address of it to work, and I don't see it despite being being connected to the same network. (probably because the router rejects its connection). I tried connecting the LAN cable to my laptop directly, but I can't seem to find it either.... any ideas?

Tried, but it's still not showing up on the myminer.io page. I've bought a router off Amazon with 1 day shipping. Cry

John,

I work somewhere that limits access to the dhcp system via mac addresses, surely there will be logs showing the SP20 trying to connect and being rejected. Unless you don't have access to that system.

The SP20 is setup differently to other miners in that it needs DHCP to get its IP address, some others like the Bitmain kit comes with a preset IP address, which requires a different set of hoops to jump through Smiley
