Thank you! I would have powered it up but UPS knocked on the door just the very second we were leaving, and my wife has spa treatment (she's in there now) I have a massage at 12GMT, but it's not my sort of thing.. i may just get a beer and massage my throat Glad you received it!! Wish you let it hash before you left to the hotel, so it could made you BTC while you sleep My s5 arrived this morning just as i was going out (wife and i at hotel for a couple of days) so i haven't had chance to unpack the box yet. I'll do as full a review as i can and set up some pictures for all your viewing pleasure when i get home on 31st. Thanks Bitmain!
Pah.. coulda got home and back in the time it took to get a spa treatment and massage "damn I think I left the gas on, just going to nip home and check.."

I tried that fan too, a lot of air gets lost in the gaps, thought maybe using tape to black out the gaps where it overhangs the side of the case. Thing is, what I have been trying to do is find a fan that lets me run at max TH, as good cooling but with a lot less noise than the stock fan. Its proving difficult to do

Do we know how loud it is? Might be quiet like the S1

Thanks for this great reply. I'm luckily in a place where power and cooling are being provided for free for the next year, so I'm not sure I'm going to underclock this first batch. To reach anywhere near max performance (1.7TH +/- 10%) they need to be somewhere very cool (sub 10°C) and have the fans running at min 80 speed, just make sure you can keep them somewhere where noise isn't an issue You can run them at 1.5TH with 40-50% fans at 20-25°C ambient and they are tolerable in say a separate room. Or you can replace the fans and underclock them and keep them under your bed

I've read some good things about the EVGA 1300G2 PSUs for these. I'm stepping up from putz around mining to some(5) of these jackson s20 boxes. Any other good PSU options?
SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 1300W is the same PSU as the EVGA

Once again, we've got some unfortunate news, Effective today, and through at least January 1, 2015, we're suspending the mining bonus. We are still a 0% fee Pay Per Share pool.
This isn't a decision we wanted to make, and it wasn't easy. But trying something new comes with risks, and we've suffered some losses, had some setbacks beyond our control occur, and unfortunately, had some instances of people abusing the payout system and bonuses offered by the pool.
In the beginning, we said the bonus might be temporary, and it's lasted quite a long time. And we sincerely hope that, in the near future, we will be able to pay the bonus again. We're working to re-incorporate the bonus, with the launch of a rental site early next year, and we're acquiring increased BTC reserves in order to make sure we're prepared for our increased hashrate.
We can't thank you enough, all of you who have supported our efforts so far and helped to build our pool into what it is today. On a normal day, our average hash rate is over 3 Ph/s, and Bitcoin Affiliate Network is now one of the names you see on Blockchain.info and Blocktrail.com for blocks being solved.
BitAffNet is going to remain the best place to mine, and the most profitable Pay Per Share pool out there.
Thanks again for your support,
Matt, Gil, and the BitAffNet Team
Thanks for this. Despite my time on the pool and being a top 15 miner by hash rate, I never get these emails. I switched pools after reading this because they owed me .4 btc and had not paid out since yesterday. But got paid shortly afterwards. I think I'll wait a bit before redirecting my hash back to them. Looks like the bonus hasn't gone away completely just reduced to 1% s0br let it be know from the start the pool itself was not what this project was all about and with what I highlighted above is what I believe was his main project from the start and is to be his money maker, all he wanted was a pool to run it with. Completely understand, but also I understand that regular payouts when you say you want them every hour, 2, 6, 24 etc were a big selling point, the OP makes a bit point of it as a positive for the pool, but the payouts haven't been regular, they have been late, and now its being said that s0br is having to buy BTC to meet the payouts of the pool, not a good place to be imho. And the bonuses were great, as long as you understood they were a marketing gimmick and were not meant to last, but as long as the payouts were on time who cares where the bonus comes from, its not the miners problem is it? But if payments start being delayed or missed, and (crazy if true) rumours of having to buy BTC to pay miners, then the risk starts to look too great and the concerns expressed by the more knowledgeable people earlier in the thread start to be more clearly recognised, the worst fear is that its not just an hour or a days mining income that gets lost if the pool ups and disappears, if the payouts are delayed for 4-5 days and then the pool disappears then someone walks off with a lot of coin. For some that risk is now too big, time to move on.

Looks like they have changed the web page now, so it forces a minimum of 2 Smiley It was always MOQ 2 pieces! no when the special link first went live it let you order single units. A few people got caught like that. The changed the MON on the site and put a nice red sign saying min 2 items and that anyone who had ordered one would have their order canceled.

REMEMBER EVERYONE YOU HAVE TO ORDER A MINIMUM OF TWO!
+1! Don't forget about this everyone that is new here. Looks like they have changed the web page now, so it forces a minimum of 2 That being said if you want one of these great miners but can't stretch to two for some reason, then my offer still stands: If anyone is in the UK/EU and wants to order just one unit, I am happy to help if Roadstress/Spondoolies doesn't mind, I can order two and send one on to you.
If I get charged VAT then you'll have to pay that, shipping from me to you in the UK will be under £8 door to door or £6 if you can get to a UPS pickup point. Europe at cost and I will only pass on shipping expense at cost. PM me if interested. Note: This is just if you are after a single device, anyone who wants more than one just buy them on their own. P.S. don't forget to send your donation to RoadStress for the sale. (See OP)

If we paid Roadstress we won't be contacted now to finish it? We just go to the website and complete our order?
If it was me I would follow the same steps as the first 200, pay the tiny fee to Roadstress, PM him, then order on Spondoolies website.

Serious question, are you developing your own ASIC or are you using the ASIC of another company?
|
|
|
You don't have to be in Ticino or any region close to the border to be cheaper than anybody else. The issue is to find the cheapest power possible.... Unfortunately, this doesn't work for miners coming from Israel for there you have to pay VAT in Switzerland, too.
Ouch cheap shot! I'd be all over cheap hosting in Switzerland if there was any or anything to host there Don't get me wrong, I'd be all for it if it was really a possibility, I just think you are overestimating the cost/time savings for little return. Israeli miners I can host cheap in the US/China already with no VAT thank you very much.

Beside this, many look at the situation in their country, not analysing the whole situation. Just a scenario: Switzerland and China have a free trade agreement. So no VAT or whatsoever is due for importing the miners to Switzerland. There, they can be stored without any problem in the duty free area. So they - technically - are still ex-Switzerland. For sending them around in Europe, you wouldn't have to invent the wheel: There are existing companies which do this. Easy and cheap. So if Bitmain would analyse how many miners they could sell in Europe, they could easily store them there before sales start and ship them very quickly around in Europe. If this would save Bitmain AND the clients a couple of bucks, it would be fine. Furthermore, if you know where, you will be able to find very cheap electricity in Switzerland.... So European miners who would have to pay like 20% VAT could leave the miners in Switzerland for cheap mining - without paying ANY VAT.
With creativity and research, there would be a lot of possibilities to save money for both sides....
LOL Switzerland? The country with the most expensive workforce in mainland Europe?
