Yes but not the same hashing

How was the watt for 0.91 firmware
I have never used it but from what I was told similar to v0.9.2
2142  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 09, 2013, 11:59:19 PM
Kano make a good firmware for Jupiter please

I think that firmware v0.9.4 drops the voltage to the chips further. It pulls 540 watts at 120v now.
2143  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 09, 2013, 11:05:37 PM

So I chopped this out of your images:

So to turn that screen into real numbers:

Elapsed = 18347s (5hrs 5min 47sec)
Accepted = 1970688 1diff shares
Rejected = 1536 1diff shares
Hardware Errors = 347881 1diff nonces

Accepted (paid) hash rate:
2^32 * Accepted / Elapsed = 461.3GH/s

Full hash rate:
2^32 * (Accepted + Rejected) / Elapsed = 461.7GH/s

Hardware Error%:
Hardware / (Accepted + Rejected + Hardware) = 15.0%

Hardware Error hash rate = 2^32 * Hardware / Elapsed = 81.4GH/s bad

I think we need to stop calling it cgminer ... maybe KFCminer?
I see no GPL3 source code and we can't be blamed for that version ... we had nothing to do with the driver
(and have no idea if they changed anything else or not)

Thanks for that Kano.

As of this moment I took the case back off and put on the external fan on top pushing air downward to move the hot air around the components.

This is the result.

How stable temps with the case on?

I am seeing one chip on each miner run hot even with a big fan on top like you had.. might add a crossfan

ASIC slot #1: 64.0 ℃
ASIC slot #2: -
ASIC slot #3: 50.5 ℃
ASIC slot #4: -
ASIC slot #5: 55.5 ℃
ASIC slot #6: 48.0 ℃

~415 Gh  (something seems up with one of the chips)

ASIC slot #1: 64.0 ℃
ASIC slot #2: -
ASIC slot #3: 55.5 ℃
ASIC slot #4: 47.5 ℃
ASIC slot #5: 46.0 ℃
ASIC slot #6: -

~518 Gh

64C is not hot for a chip.  Don't worry.
It is for an off-die sensor. Actual temp could be 10-25C higher in the core itself. I don't have a clue what KNC is using though.

I also agree. As you can see my ASIC CPU temp is considerably lower then those others reporting.

I will see what the ASIC CPU temp change is when I revert to my temp cooling solution.

Is that your results with the case cover on or off? Do you have any added airflow? Also what GH/s does the pool say the unit is running at?

cover on.

ASIC slot #1: 52.5 ℃
ASIC slot #2: 53.5 ℃
ASIC slot #3: 57.0 ℃
ASIC slot #4: 50.5 ℃

original fans, nothing else. mining at gigavps and hashrate hopping every hour from 490 to 570.)

The great thing is that cgminer does not restart with firmware v 0.9.4

Here are the results since the update to firmware v0.9.4 using case cover on and original fans.

As you can see. The performance reported by cgminer is the same as when the system was using firmware v0.9.0 with the case cover on and stock fans.

Later I will be removing the case cover and put the fan pointing down back on the unit to see if it improves performance.

I will do this with out restarting the unit in order to see if the Work Unit (WU) submitted per min goes up from 7600 back to 8200+

.94 after 7 hours without restart

Okay system back to default factory setup.
Factory fans & Case Cover On running firmware 0.9.4.

Results after 10 mins.

Kudos Sitarow. Very well done report!

Could please share type/brand of the fan you put on top of the jup?

And the FPGA Error once again.

I can tell that this thing is struggling with the lack of adequate airflow now. However it is not as bad as the first firmware v0.9.0

Edit: 500GH/s Average rate reported by pool for over 2hrs now. Down from a reported rate of over 540GH/s by the pool with the case cover off and a fan pointing down at the boards.

That is a loss of over 40GH/s

2151  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 09, 2013, 05:25:34 AM
The famous show stopping FPGA Error that drops performance.

Firmware v0.9.3 stock cooling and case cover on.

Note: once v0.9.4 is released I will do a baseline with cover on and then off and then with the new fans with cover on.
2152  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 09, 2013, 05:05:23 AM
Average speed seems to be dropping and HW errors are increasing.

2153  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 09, 2013, 04:55:20 AM
Finally auto restarted less than 2 hours later.

You can notice that firmware v0.9.3 seems to have improved the speed off the start.
I also notice less heat buildup under the unit.

I will leave it with cover on for the next 5 hours and see what pool reports.

For those still sceptical.

Here the jupiter with the case top back on and back 100% to stock running firmware 0.9.3

Note: I put the case on while the system was operational as to not stop cgminer as it has been running without restarts.

Notice that within moments after fpga error is displayed.

Same CGMINER start time

Performance update.

Present setup case cover removed and large fan placed in the middle of the 4 ASIC Units blowing air down creating a downdraft of cool air over all the components.

7 Hr plus operation results with 0 cgminer restarts.

Running firmware 0.9.3 (Fix the reboot issue)

The screen shot below is what the performance was before removing the cover and putting the large fan on top blowing cool ambient air down.

Running firmware 0.9.2

Ok so maybe if we put another fan at front like the black you have put will be good

I was going for an airflow with the following result.

Or this with a personal touch.

Ok thanks

Then use putty program to ssh into the unit via its ip address.

Which  is putty programm?
And which is the fPGA board?
You mean the control board?

nice! I am glad others have stepped up to the plate Smiley

I have opted not to use the Avalon type fans for the first part of the test. I went with a fan type that is more readably available for those that wish to shop at your local store.
Fan on the right is 140mm rated at 175 cfm at 2000 rpm. The fan on the left is the avalon 120mm one at 4000 rpm.

Close ups of the 2000 RMP Fan Connector. I will be using the adapter to put it directly to the power supply rather then use the power feed from the Jupiters boards.

Yes the control board is where you can find the FPGA Smiley

Here is the results after 5+ hr operation with no cgminer restarts. It presently is running on firmware v0.9.3. It seems both v0.9.2 and v0.9.3 give the same performance results with these simple steps.

Which is these small steps?

This photo. I had mentioned on page 1 that my ambient room temps and included the results before and after.

A few people have had similar success only noticeable after running for a few hours.

Others report the unit slowing down or needing to constantly restart cgminer.

Those that have a higher ambient room temp make note of an error that slows the hashing down once the fpga does not submit work.
Maybe the fpga needs a heatsink? I am not looking at adding heatsinks just yet.

However I do make note that BFL does include heatsinks on their small components and also have vertical and horizontal air blown on the units.

Also how I connect cgminer with my Jupiter?

Enable ssh in the webinterface.

Then use putty program to ssh into the unit via its ip address.

You will be prompted with a username request.
