1341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum Computer. on: August 14, 2014, 10:44:09 PM
Guys i wanted to discuss about quantum computers, How will they affect BTC

1st thing is that these computers will be 1000s of times faster than the current super computer so my question is what will happen to the difficulty if it rises like a rocket then the price of BTC will also rise like a rocket?

2nd thing is hacking, When these computers get to the consumer market won't hacking become a problem?

Edit: One more question will this also mean the 21 million bitcoins will be made faster?

For now i have got these points i will edit as the post progresses.

Maybe you will enjoy what will happen to a very old Bitcoin clone:
iXcoin IXC  Wink : a 3 years time tested coin, like Bitcoin but bravely ending mining on Oct 2014: it will be interesting to see what happens.
If no one uses it for trade and if it's not a trusted network then it is nothing more then a legacy protocol.

Bitcoin is different as it takes into account  sinergy of variables that keeps it improving with use
1342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE SLEEPERS : good Alt Coins going unnoticed on: August 13, 2014, 03:11:01 AM
markets get diluted badly from aprox 1,000 shit coins = good coins get ignored.

Ltc quark and vert are my bet.
1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: August 13, 2014, 03:08:25 AM
This thread is really funny lol.

I'll also be laughing next year when I start seeing the "I sold Litecoin at $5 feel bad for me" posts. There is a lot of misinformation here and little substance.

I remember when btc went to $2 and then many sold btc at$ 4 $6 and $9.

Hindsight is 20/20
1344  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Petition to sticky Dogies manufacturer trustworthiness guide!! on: August 10, 2014, 10:34:17 PM
The thing is his guides are the only one of its kind on here...or any where for that matter. One could say that about ANY review. The point is Dogies guide is right now all there is. I challenge ANYONE on here to find OR create something better. But right now it just does not exist AND its an excellent resource. Is it perfect? No! BUT it is certainly as good as its going to get. Even most of those critquing it are saying the same thing, sure they have their issues but I would rather have an 80 percent accurate review post than none at all...My ONLY advice to dogie would be to emphasize the existing disclaimer that clearly states people should do their own research as well.

He covers that very clearly. So for those critisizing it if you can do better then do so. Otherwise he is the only one with this resource/tool that helps newbies. Fact is because of all the shady crap that goes on here, its important to have some resource. Honestly based on his guide, who would you go for? Bitmain is at the top of the list. Can anyone disagree that they are not currently top of the heap in the miner world? If you can clearly explain why? They win out on price (the numbers don't lie), performance, and delivery. How many others on that list are doing that? He does his best and that is all anyone can ask. Hence the request to sticky it. If those of you complaining can come up with something better OR are willing to collaborate to come up with something better then do so. I think all his hard (FREE) work deserves the recognition here for those new to the community to see, hence the sticky request.

Seriously doge most bitcoin manufacturers these days are not to be trusted. The best in the business KnC, bitmain, spondoolies all three of them have all delivered underspec miners lately. So what purpose does this guide serve if none of the manufacturers are to be trusted ? Stickying bad information is just bad business imho.

Remember at this time his guides provide awareness for the available hardware options ready for purchase.

It validates the first step of the journey when one sets on the path to purchase mining hardware.

Ultimately the end result of no guides is more victims of failed projects or disingenuous claims by unscrupulous individuals.

As far as I am conserned those who wish to jump in and try mining. Best Bet based on my experience is bitmain s3 offering. b4 b5 and soon to ship b6. It gets you to the front of the line as far as dilivery times with a respecable j/gh.

Come oct/nov I expect to see other options from other venders become available.

And lest us not forget that if there is any doubt others can perform similar report's to substantiate report results.

EDIT FOR SPELLING Smiley
1345  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Petition to sticky Dogies manufacturer trustworthiness guide!! on: August 10, 2014, 03:03:37 AM
The only thing I can say here is that nothing stops a company from sending Dogie a unit that works really well and then still not shipping to their customers after they build hype if Dogie likes it.

Exactly. All we can do is help with awareness to mitigate risk.
1346  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Petition to sticky Dogies manufacturer trustworthiness guide!! on: August 10, 2014, 03:01:03 AM
But good reviews nonetheless. He does get some equipment free, but to me it doesn't seem to sway him....much  Cheesy

i hope thats not true!  if he gets any equipment for free or at a special price in any way, then there's no chance of unbiassed reviews and it would put him in a compromised position.  im sure its not true, and if it was, he would need to disclose which equipment he got for free (or discounted) and state it very clearly alongside the review.

You do realize that you are free to ask any one of the active community participants for verification.

For instance I like many collect at least 1 from each manufacturer and also speak up after crunching the number's on what would be the best option for hardware.

I for one still keep an updated speculative network difficulty vs returns spreadsheet that all can see and use for personal verification.

The service provided by the review is more of a fact finding role and to lessen the perliferation of frivolous claims from hardware venders and scams.

1347  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Petition to sticky Dogies manufacturer trustworthiness guide!! on: August 09, 2014, 10:04:23 PM
if dogies opinion can be wrong and/or he could be paid off.

If its 'wrong', disagree with me. And I'm probably the last person you can pay off. I'm not saying there shouldn't be others doing the same, but the smaller the guide owner, the easier it is to pay them off.

IMO we shouldn't be stickying anything that is constantly changing, debatable, and full of opinions.

Be it as it may. There are other eyes on the issue . If you want another opinion there are other active community participants you can ask

I am happy to see your  continued commitment to present the community with serious hardware reviews. I hope the choice you took to steped into this role is being appreciated as it is not an easy one.
1349  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 06, 2014, 03:08:32 AM
Just an FYI, i purchased a B5 less than 2 days and received shipping info this morning.  They must be really close to shipping out all the batch 5s

Create Time: 2014-08-03 12:44:13.0
WTF !

I purchased my two orders of two units each on the 31st of last month and the 1st of this month and haven't seen crap for movement, also no emails.

1350  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 05, 2014, 09:26:23 PM

i don't see any b6 for 0.66-did they took it off?

Yep, they sure did...I assume because B5 is not yet sold out.  I think originally it said shipping August 12th.
It did say the 12th before they took it down lol
As for the quantities sold.

I have ordered b4 to b5 units that have shipped with serial numbers ranging from the mid 1800 to the low 3100s

They are selling many units and fast shipping times.
1351  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 03, 2014, 12:27:00 AM
Is anybody running three S3's from a Corsair AX1200i without problems (not overclocked) ?

Just wondering if this will be OK, I have the offer of a cheap one from a friend.

Yes, i am running 2 x S3 on a 1200i.  Pulls 1040 from the wall.  No problem.

Not overclocked? That seems wrong. These units pull ~366w stock frequency.

Actually they pull less for ma batchs. Antec 1300watt pro platinum.  psu @120v 3xS3 = 875-900 watts at the wall
1352  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: August 02, 2014, 08:25:40 AM
Same here Smiley Batch 5 order on the way.

Got 6 B4 setup on two Antec 1300w psu and am pleased to say out of the box firmware update 2hr result is one set of 3x 875watts and 882watts on the other 3 at the wall.120v AC no tweeking 440 GHs to 450 GHs performance on all 6.

FANS are not noisy and temps are fairly good 37 to 40 max.

Very impressive shipping time DHL ordered and delivered within the week.
1353  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 31, 2014, 02:40:57 AM
$ and that perhaps the expected results from network difficulty and competitive hardware that is available for orders now and shipping within a week.

1354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 30, 2014, 10:41:24 PM

I also agree that 3.4th at just over 2000 watts is correct out of the box stock.  Still using the original firmware. On my Neptune I get 3.4ghs one one antec 1300w psu I have 3/5 pulling 1250@120v watts and on the other 1300w 2/5 and controller pulling 780 watts@120v

As for spondoolies speed 4.45 seems to be the average at this time.

And I will add the new BFL monarch pricing as a new line. There are still a few who paid a primium for aug 2013 monarch pre-orders.

I notice you have 2 cubes pulling 390 each @ wall assume controller rides for free.
Your 3 cubes pull ~415 each no freeloader controller.
390 x 3 would be 1170 W.
If you moved one of the 3 over you could determine if it is,
A individual PSU efficiency issue,
a PSU near max is much lower efficiency on both or,
a hungry cube.

YMMV
Smiley

I will have to try 1 on 1psu later. However it may also be due to the cercuit not giving 120v but rather 116v
1355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 30, 2014, 08:51:12 PM
With the new results out from spondoolies, below is the updated Hardware comparison chart/document.

Thank you for the reference.

From my admittedly biased position I'd say the average Nep is 3.4T  at a squink below 2kW.
Completely stock PARTS and tuned gets ya to 3.5T @ 2kW.
3.55-3.58T is doable with some added airflow, same 2kW @ wall BTW.
(the gains are lower errors not faster clocks)

To accurately compare would require seperating 110VAC from 220VAC PSU.
Also need to take into account PSU efficiency and it's % loading.

Ideally all units tested on same PSU.
Next would be all units mesured under 'hopefully' similar conditions.
Next would be at least reporting the conditions during measurement.

The reality is we don't have the luxury.
The boxes are or should be too busy hashing to stop for ideal testing.

I have no idea what 'average' is but I have better numbers.
I am also under the impression from posted 'Advanced' pages that my numbers are not ununual.

Repeating, I know I have a biased opinion so take this post as just that, OPINION.
I'd say 3.4 @ 2kw is very common for typical customers.
My numbers for reference,
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg8053504#msg8053504

Please note, I don't think your collection is biased, just that my opinion must be as I own one.

Very well done long term effort!!!
I appreciate your contribution.
Thank you for your time.

YMMV

Here is the updated Hardware comparison chart/document.

Below is the link to the shared document that gives examples of hardware speculative returns factoring 10% and 20% network difficulty increase.

NOTE: If network difficulty stays below 20% then the document will be revised to 10% and 5% estimate results.

Your prices and details of Bitmine are still not updated...

Seems  that those units are no longer available. I have added there 2nd gen unit from there webpage. I will update if you can provide link and info.
1357  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 30, 2014, 04:24:58 PM
since there are so many miners here and I want to buy ANTMINER S3 I'll post my question here. Is there a chart of multipool mining profitability in fiat over a long period of time (6-12months)? If not maybe you can tell me from your experience..

I want to know whether the current $1.6/100GH/day is somewhat stable and can be expected to stay that way the coming 6 months.
(I'm a newbie regarding mining, so with this miner I can use it for multipools right? Grin)

No, it won't. You can expect the income (in BTC) to drop 20-30% every 10 days or so. Go and read up on 'difficulty'

Whats this 20-30% witchcraft?

I see the last diff jumps were 3% and 8%, Here's hoping they stay around that rate!!

Bitcoin Difficulty:    18,736,441,558
Estimated Next Difficulty:    19,526,251,935 (+4.22%)

realistically i expect to see 9-12% for the next 2 jumps - difficulty is slowing but i think the last two weeks were a nice low hop from variance and the massive 20% jump before that. another jump under 9% would be amazing though, and almost surely lock in a profit for mining

1360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No matter how much we love BTC, confirmations take way too long! on: July 29, 2014, 04:23:10 PM
Payment processors are the answer my mate.
You can also work with 'approved' addresses or something like that where a merchant trusts an address that has succesfully been used before.

It has been discussed over the years. Indeed what you state is the next step service providers can monopolies on.

However as Litecoin is another network that is used for payment at merchants and with the advent of scrypt asics that network will show more promise for fast stable transactions.
