One third of all the datacoin in existance is here : DE5fExMsvuZv3WXC5ZjcskVhigs9VQrBYG And also guys we need a MAC wallet. Many complains. And many people still have problem connecting to the network when they have downloaded the client... see my post above if your interested in a fix for the peer problem. MAC does work, get datacoin-qt.exe and run it with wine/wine-skin. not optimal but you can atleast have it on mac then that's not a problem, please post your address and I'll send coins to you for some months. btw - good info about Mac, but you understand - it's better for potential investors to have native Mac app

was he online since the last time i posted about it? there hasnt been done anything wrt dnsseeder but i gave him enough informations to do it :S
he switched to HTTP server for Datacoin, I think that he has some kind of list of priorities. i offered him to create the dnsseeder for him or even host it myself if the vps costs get paid (not much, 5-10$ per month). if someone would donate enough *coin to create it, id do it and make a pull req for adding the dnsseeder. therefore newer builds wont have the problems with not finding any peers. how many coins do you want?

Hey guys. I wrote the nontechnical paper for Bitcloud. Just wanted to pop in to discuss the similarities with our projects because they are somewhat similar. As cryptrol pointed out, this is a brand new protocol that is based on proof of bandwidth, so it's not really an altcoin to Datacoin. The main ideas we've been thinking about when it comes to Bitcloud are a decentralized YouTube alternative and a way to monetize a meshnet in the distant future. Would projects like these be possible with Datacoin? Nodes are paid for sharing bandwidth in Bitcloud, so I am wondering if Datacoin would run into trouble when it came to apps that required large amounts of bandwidth. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
Hi! Datacoin can run into trouble if someone wants to store big files in it Generally, I have such an idea. Datacoin stores only text info: html pages, css\js for them, small pictures (logos?), magnet links, etc. It also will store info that really needs redundancy. It will be fast storage with its own services. In that case Bitcloud can offer media storage for that - it won't need such redundancy, but it will work in pair with Datacoin. Just imagine: Namecoin as root DNS service, Datacoin as service for storing text info and security keys, for example, and your project as a media storage. It is really some kind of new, free Internet with economical/financial background. I'm familiar with the problems associated with storing larger files in Datacoin, but are personal chains a solution to that issue? I've been thinking that personal chains would be similar to our system of moderators. Nodes basically subscribe to a moderator, and then the moderator decides the kind of content that can be stored on the node. This means that all of the nodes aren't storing the same data, and they can make sure they are still following the laws in their local jurisdictions. It's an incredible idea from Liberman. Then again, it's hard to look at the similarities since both ideas are brand new. I agree that all of these projects are extremely exciting. Hopefully we will be able to create the new, meshed Internet with financial incentives for nodes in the future. That's great idea. You should write this directly to oocook5u who is core developer of DTC protocol, he is VERY experienced programmer, so I think that you can bring ideas to him and see what he says. He is interested in Datacoin growth and evolution. The only problem - he is online rather rarely, but if you're not in hurry, he'll answer.

I am waiting for the end of the week Lets see! Yeah, I'm also waiting for that. After that promotions we'll see points that need to be improved, then we can improve our promo articles and other things and try to communicate with big magazines and IT portals - not just news sites, but computer science resources.

What do you think about those new things they say about piratebay these days using bitcoin something for torrents and kimdotcoms meganet and how do those affect Datacoin if they affect it at all?
I've also sent such mail to TPB, but still no answer and no idea if they didn't read this mail or if it was not interesting to them. We have an idea - our designer will create Datacoin infographics and we'll send it to them. BTW - big promotion is starting at the end of the week, it took some time to gather all info and interested people after holidays

I have a problem with my wallet , says no block source available?
you should add nodes in help -> debug -> console find commands here (one per line) http://datacoin.info/addnodes

Bumping with an idea of a bounty. A few DTC for people that will translate http://datacoin.info to their home language Edit: 10k DTC buy order at bter! If only i could buy with paypal! I think that it is only beginning Lets see! I am very optimistic! BTW - do you know about this version of site (currently in development)? http://datacoin.gr/I gave all resources to its creator, so he promised to finish work quickly I have no idea at all! Send me his bitcointalk name if he is okay with this! he contacted me via mail - check your PM

I just asked mumus if he can make a faucet. Let see if he answers positive...
so what about mumus? @maxsolnc - Not comment about publishing CC/GPL book to a blockchain? I'm still trying to think of where such beast could be found... But if found it could be used to promote DTC too. And: This is a simple idea, but I think necessary.
missing "," no currency in their wallets that implements
example: 25000000.325, is easy to make mistakes with many zeros
haha, cool Be carefull with dots, commas and language versions, this can differ from country to country. For example 100,000 = 100 (not mistake, "," is a decimal mark). Hmm, it really needs to be investigated - I don't know such books. There are great books with expired copyright, but GPL one is better, I understand. I am not very technical but...
1) do encrypted emails through Datacoin wallet 2) do a flashing video for Datacoin selling to the masses (offer it in a competition) 3) have you seen curecoin and Gridcoin and how their mining is used for research? 4) offer an encrypting tool on the datacoin wallet - so that a person can send a file to a receiver who can only open it with a datacoin wallet (wallet to wallet encryption)
DPRytdYpRm8DY1yN5KnxuZbv21eWAuM9bZ
Hope that's useful
1. IMAO it's better to use bitmessage for that 2. So many ideas for paid promotions, so few donations 3. Of course I saw, I like both concepts, but they differ from Datacoin - Gridcoin\Curecoin are scientific cryptos, Datacoin is engineering one. 4. The same as in (1), it's not good idea to use Datacoin just as messaging system, it will be expensive and it will bloat blockchain. People should save only files that are really needed to be stored for a very long time. Now to see any value of the coins you should go to the exchanges, would add great value in the wallet of Datacoin in dollars
chainbrowser also allows it, and it is not primary idea for Datacoin. But this can be simply added by GUI developers, thanks. Do you have any devs (or maybe yourself) who can start faucet? Of course it will be rewarded.
Base faucet should be quite easy technically (just send some money to the wallet and then put up a form to disperse them). But you should at least some anti-abuse measures (compination of sending only limited amount of times per ip per time interval, captcha, ...), otherwise bots may suck the faucet dry in mere minutes. Perhaps logging to show how much was sent from the faucet may come in handy, to keep ledger with the funds. Once the amounts are low, you may also need to group the transactions o save on txfees. I'm quite busy currently due to project deadline, but perhaps I'll whip up something useful next week. I know that faucet 'itself' is rather easy, even easier than blockexplorer (I wrote simple one just after start of Datacoin, now it is closed - we have better alternatives). It will be very appreciated and rewarded if you can do that

hmm apparently i am doing something wrong. I did what you said and my ip is this 162.243.249.73 its a cloud ocean droplet. but it does nothing except poping things on terminal of the server. it says error fetching data.... Edit: WOW! It actually works! I suppose it just had to download all the blocks http://162.243.249.73:8080/dtc/get/40a3eb9624528008a87d9119dbed4041d45c9f6483ecd52a7b24f9c8b4fdf548Now i really would like to see more things with that For example how can i make my own simple webpage now? I am asking too much for now? You should upload it with perl script from main repo - in that case your webpage will be saved with all metainfo required for correct work with DTC web server

I want to make a guide for solo mining. But i am pretty sure there are stand alone miners for solo instead of the qt one.
Can you point me at what is the latest release or generally what you prefer? Thanks.
AFAIK Primecoin had problems with interconnecting external miner and qt wallet (or even daemon), so need to check that with Datacoin.
