221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Various security-related questions (a lot to read, but small tip offered) on: November 24, 2013, 09:37:13 AM
For the OS security, I think the risk is pretty low running Ubuntu. I would think the most likely way in this case would be if you installed some small software tool that also had some malicious code inserted into it. Let me also ask a question to the security experts, are there risks to my bitcoin stash having java enabled in my browser?
222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats the Best Country To Start a Bitcoin Exchange? on: November 24, 2013, 09:28:37 AM
I don't know the answer to this question but I would look toward places where torrent servers are hosted.
223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Say No to ASIC LTC/Scrypth please read this &forward topic on: November 24, 2013, 09:26:51 AM
Anyway I think it's a pointless battle, of course people are going to buy asic as soon as they can.
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm noticing this Pattern of harrasment that occurs when...> on: November 24, 2013, 09:03:05 AM
I'm sorry I'm not following you, I guess I can start by asking who is Jim Rickard?
225  Other / Off-topic / Re: Visualizing Bitcoin units on: November 23, 2013, 11:58:03 PM
I would like to see a 3D visualization like you may have seen showing US dollars and dept.
226  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you have multiple dreams that "continue" randomly? on: November 23, 2013, 11:49:17 PM
I don't really have that, although often times my dreams will have a similar theme. My dreams are really out there and seem somehow dumb in a way, as if my mind is just to lazy to render something at all believable. For example maybe I'm at my house where I'm talking with a friend. Then I go to the store alone and right away I'll see that same friend there at the store when shouldn't have been there.
227  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do with 25 bitcoins? on: November 23, 2013, 11:44:44 PM
I think I'd do the same thing as most people on here, I'd save it because of course we expect the value to rise over time.
228  Other / Off-topic / Re: 100 reasons why bitcoin is the best currency today on: November 23, 2013, 11:42:36 PM
36. Allows everyone the same ability to buy and sell, regardless of if they are rich or poor
229  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D Printing on: November 23, 2013, 11:40:53 PM
I don't have one but I'd like to get one soonish, the only thing is I'm afraid that it will be a hassle to use and more of a hobby of itself rather than a tool.
230  Other / Off-topic / Re: I made a bitcoin/cryptocurrency related song on: November 23, 2013, 11:38:54 PM
good job, I really like it.
231  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you have any doubts about BTC's short, medium, or long-term viability? on: November 23, 2013, 11:33:59 PM
I think more important than bitcoin is the idea which is in all of our heads now, the idea that we don't need the state for money anymore.
232  Other / Politics & Society / Re: is this crowd fundin for ross ulbrich a joke? on: November 23, 2013, 10:55:42 PM
I would have also expected more support, but maybe because of the charges people are scared off from helping, which also might have been part of the plan.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't worth it for consumers. And that will stop adoption. on: November 23, 2013, 10:53:57 PM
this may be true in the US and other countries with stable money systems, but I think it could be really interesting for the rest.
234  Other / Politics & Society / Re: is this crowd fundin for ross ulbrich a joke? on: November 23, 2013, 10:49:17 PM
but is this his only fund out there? Is this one even legit?
235  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-11-23] Video - Bitcoin world domination 'a bumpy ride': CEO on: November 23, 2013, 10:48:09 PM
I can't disagree with anything he said.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bye on: November 23, 2013, 10:44:28 PM
If you have a lot in your wallet, send me hard drive, i'll take 10% and send you the rest back if I can retrive it.

Pm me.

This is very generous, and you should take him up on it. What do you have to lose?
I agree and I'll bet the wallet can be recovered, hope the OP comes back to at least see the replies.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sweden and Norway to add Bitcoin VAT – Norway to implement Bitcoin tax on: November 23, 2013, 06:37:08 PM
It will be interesting to see what happens, I hope the users resist and if the technology is there to help that end it will be extremely difficult, so much so that they give up.
238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Win the the Media over. on: November 23, 2013, 06:32:36 PM
Also there is the mater of getting bitcoins, if I were to tell an older family member how they would need get bitcoin, I think it would be too hard. I just think it needs more time to make things better for the regular user. Even us as ambassador of sorts, we need to improve our knowledge, I'm still reading some wacky things that are just not true here on the form.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Win the the Media over. on: November 23, 2013, 06:29:14 PM
I really think btc still needs time to work out some of the issues before it's useful to push it for everyone.

What issues are preventing Bitcoin from mainstream adoption?

One thing is the wild price movements, but also many of the wallets are still a bit rough, heck even the qt is still in beta.
