221  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshi Auction - Bid on a prize where 98% of each bid is added to the prize. on: January 05, 2023, 11:34:04 PM
I think it may take a lot of efforts to understand this concept too @OP, however I have somehow figured out what it is. Let me share my personal opinion here and correct me where I'm wrong.

The statements I'll be taking are from your website @OP

Quote
In a penny auction, each bid is paid for in advance, and there are no returns.

This means that the bids are final, and nothing will be given back to the bidder in case he loses the auction. Got this point.

Quote
The prize starts off as 10k satoshis.

Ok, so the starting prize money is 10k satoshis, who pays these 10k sats?
@OP will you pay this for each auction out of your pocket?
What if the total bids are made by just 2-3 members and it doesn't even reach total 10k sats? Won't you lose money?

Let's take this game as an example, there is just one bidder and with just 300 sats, he can win 10k sats.

Why don't you set up a minimum bid column too, so that you can start the auction with a set minimum. And why are the bids transparent? Can't you hide the bids and keep it fair for everyone? If not, why don't you do this as 'lowest and unique bid wins the auction'?
That will give a boost to your game because this maximum bid kinda games were already played in the past and were not so successful.

When we will participate in this game, will the auction starter be allowed to decide the prize amount? Or it stays the same for all the future auctions?

Quote
Anybody can make a bid for the prize, at any time.

So, aren't we cutting away our own head with an axe by bidding here when someone who wants the prize, comes and manipulates all the previous bids by his biggest bet? Even if the manipulator pushes the bid with just 1 satoshi ahead, he becomes a winner, won't he?

Quote
In the case of a tie, funds are distributed equally to the winning bidders and any fractional remainder is left with the host.

How can there be a tie when the bids are already known?
If not all, you are showing the maximum bid amount, so why would someone place an exact same bid like the maximum one? What's the point here?
And what is this fractional remainder? I mean, what units are counted as fractional remainder here? A few satoshis? uBTC, mBTC, what exactly?

Tbh I'm not so satisfied with the overall concept and I believe that you should make some serious changes before taking these games live as even with an escrow, this can still be manipulated for someone's personal winning agenda and will be unfair to those bidders who made earlier buds but lose due to that last minute bidder who sends a very big bid like (possibly) 0.01, 0.1 or even 1 BTC bid if the winning amount that the auction carries is huge.
222  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: January 05, 2023, 10:52:19 PM
I was once gifted with lots of work that gave me an opportunity to earn a lot of money and give me a chance to upgrade my lifestyle and even achieve financial freedom 'if I'd have used the funds to establish a new business or something alike', but I didn't.
I wasted all my money behind drinks, girls and travel which at the end of the day, put me back to where I started from. There is nothing good in hiding such things and confessions are a better way to stop yourself from repeating such mistakes again. So in my situation, it was my greed to live a luxurious lifestyle that held me back from achieving my financial freedom.
223  Economy / Economics / Re: WEF On Cryptocurrencies: Crypto is here to stay on: January 05, 2023, 10:44:59 PM
I think that is the natural cycle of any boom and bust industry, only the fittest survived, become stronger evolved and teaches lesson for the next company on how to prepared for the worst and stay strong.

That is why so many upcoming projects are waiting for better market conditions to launch themselves through IDO and some have postponed their ongoing marketing and IDO continuation till they see some good signs of recovery from the markets because they don't want to see themselves dumped in lieu of current market conditions, despite being providing the best products till now. We can call that a way to protect their investors from feeling cheated.

Table is looking well established, and all the stories are to the point. Well researched. Wink
I know I'm not one of the noteworthy people here, but I'd like to share my personal experience (after seeing NotATether's return).
I had been fighting hard with a disease for the last 2 years and I could not manage to come online too often last year, else I have been here almost each year. After sorting everything IRL, I finally decided to join my family back again. So, I came back in November after a long gap of 1 year. I hope to contribute well and become a well known member of the community this time. Smiley
225  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk forum mobile app on: January 05, 2023, 02:25:18 PM
If the app can contain the same look and feel that we get here, then I will support it surely. However, none of us are low on data that we need a web version of the forum, because this forum only allows images and no videos are allowed to be streamed here, which saves lots of data because even users here snip images to save more data on the forum as well as from their data pack.
226  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 04, 2023, 07:59:44 PM
The player who has contributed the most money to the pot at the end of the game wins the whole pot, minus a 2% fee for the host.

So does it mean that people wil contribute to the pot and in the end only ONE person will win the whole pot and the rest all contributors will lose the moeny  Huh
SNIP

No, because OP has confirmed that you can decide how many winners will be there in a specific game whenever you create a game. I was also confused about this but I have even seen 2 players in 1 game and both of them getting something because the creator chose 2 winners (LoyceV's game you can check in this thread). Wink
227  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 04, 2023, 01:28:20 PM
If I'm playing a game, the experience should be way smoother. In the current state I'd have to collect people's addresses before creating a game which is kinda pointless - the game should allow me to join whichever open game is currently available.
Again - if that is currently possible that is great - but the site does not tell me that I can or how can I.

That's to the point.
Now I understood when OP said that I need to speak with people who are ready to play the game, before I put different payout addresses.

@OP, I have an idea which might help you provide an exciting game to your players.
Why not ask everyone to create an anonymous account with an already allocated alias to them once they visit the website? They can decide if they want to add a password and an email to their account. If not, they will only need to save their private link that goes to their alias and their games as well as their stats.
I was reminded of a game named Satoshidice and I think that game used the same method.
This way, nobody will need to provide any payout address or need betting address, they will see everything in their profile (their betting address after the game is created, and payout address will be the same used to send the funds from). Example: I create a game, the game will only show my alias and the next person will be able to join the game (if you add a 'join' button there) and the host will still only be able to see the next player's alias without knowing who is behind it and betting how much, because only the 2nd player will see his personal betting address for that game he joined, so everything is hidden here except the alias). However, you may determine the number of winners on the game page and let the aliases know how many winners will be there for that specific game. Wink
Hope this helps.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Being Fucked? The centralization of Bitcoin on: January 04, 2023, 01:03:17 PM
If you are trying to evaluate centralization in btc, then why didn't you bring in all the aspects and why put emphasis on mining aspect only? Because you can check and see the numbers available and bring them here, try to criticize btc without any factual evidence?

Let's talk about mining, it looks like it is centralized because pools are the places where people want to draw their hashrate because chances of getting rewarded are far better and bigger than going alone mining, you get it?
Now, who will these miners mine with? Where the pool fee is less and they give a good share to the miners, these pools have been competing for so long but even after holding a considerable percentage in mining hashrate, antpool never gets all the blocks every single time (point: competition) and there are others too who tend to make it when it comes to finding blocks.

About Foundry, you have got a nice explanation already from franky1. It is the miners' decision to choose what they want to do with their purchases (equipment) and where do they want to use it.

Next part, the addresses that hold the most amount of btc, and mind well buddy, they are not miners. You can check the top 100 wallets and will find that they hold a very big percentage of total btc mined till date, and still accumulating. Why didn't you talk about it? Isn't it centralization? Still they are not pulling out their btc at all and holding like legends. Would you consider btc as centralized after knowing this?

Let's go to another part: manipulation
Traders who hold considerable amount of fiat in their exchange accounts, move btc high or low according to their wish but that takes place in a timely manner, else btc won't be less than a pump and dump ponzi. The best example of word of mouth manipulation is Elon Musk. Now, he doesn't have the power to do that because we all have understood his tricks very fantastically.

Next: Exchanges
I won't write an article here and this will be my final point.
There have been a stiff competition between exchanges since I came to know btc, Mt Gox was one of the best exchanges then. Bittrex and poloniex took over later on when Mt Gox was hacked and funds were stolen. Then came Binance into competition after a very long time, and since then, none of the exchanges, namely Kraken, Kucoin, Gate, Huobi, and even Coinbase hold such huge volumes and amount of assets that Binance holds even at the time of writing. Binance was also accused of fraudulent trading to increase the volume of the exchange and show fake volumes, but nothing was proven till date. However, we are aware that Binance holds a huge percentage of overall crypto assets collectively. If it's too centralized, then why didn't Binance run away taking away all those assets worth over $70 bn and why is it the number one exchange as of now?
229  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 04, 2023, 12:15:23 PM
The nth person who places n (highest amount) number of btc till it reaches current block+ 144, will be the person who takes part of the pot or the whole winnings?

If there are 3 people playing a game with 2 winners, and they bet 10k, 15k, and 12k satoshi, then the 15k and 12k betters will each win.

SNIP

So, who decides the number of winners in a game?
The host himself/herself?

And let's say I create a game and nobody participates, what will happen after the number of blocks passed?
Will I get a refund (excluding the 2% fee that the platform takes)? Or will it be a full refund? A little bit curious about this.

EDIT: Where does the 2nd player gets his betting address?

For example, I created Game 25, the betting address left from my address is for me, right?
Then where will the 2nd player send his coins? If he will send them on the same betting address as mine, then will the 3rd person use 2nd player's betting address to send his bet?

If someone wants to increase the size of his bets, will he use the same betting address where he sent his funds earlier?
230  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 04, 2023, 11:48:41 AM
Guys, I'm a bit confused on the whole concept.
The nth person who places n (highest amount) number of btc till it reaches current block+ 144, will be the person who takes part of the pot or the whole winnings?

And when everything is transparent on the Blockchain, won't the players know all the bets by checking each of the addresses on the list? Or am I missing something?
231  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Advice wanted for blockchain game opening up to ERC-20 tokens on: January 04, 2023, 11:42:05 AM
Try contacting new gaming launches that are coming up, they may collaborate with you in some way and can help you out with what you need. Try to contact their marketing manager as that's the only source that will respond to you quickly. You can also check Services part on this forum to see if someone can help you with your requirements. Alternatively, check out 'Alternate cryptocurrencies' part on the forum as you may find various other games and tokens whom you may want to collaborate with.
232  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Nobody dont help us the traders let's help ourselfes now idea on: January 03, 2023, 11:33:55 AM
For God's sake, please go and check how many dollars do you need in real to move BTC/USD even a buck up or down? Do you think that you can beat institutions and Fed, the place that prints money?
Better think again and stop with these stupid ideas because the more you try to push the bears, the more the bears will kill your hopes by burying your positions and liquidate you. Losing $5 alone won't matter a lot, but losing millions of dollars collectively will lower the confidence of both, the investors and the traders who go for this.

A few important questions:
Who will hold the funds here?
Who is trustworthy enough to execute your plans in real?
If we are here for pumps and dumps only, where is decentralisation and what is the point of crypto if we only want more volatility and profits only?

Ahem... allow me to introduce you my newest script:
TryNinja never sleeps and he is one of the best bitcointalk Santa's around here!  Cheesy
This two icons never bothered me that much, but maybe you should think about creating one ultimate all-in-one script that will make optional forum design changes.
For example, someone mentioned that posts from ignored members can still be seen in forum when someone quotes their post.
I would also like to hide some other parts in forum that can't be hidden with current modifications available in settings.

You mean a drop down list with different types of settings made available for us to modify how it will look for everyone individually? Sounds good if that's what you meant. I have not tried this yet, but want to ask a question.

Does the beta provide notifications whenever our post is quoted or we are mentioned in some post the way we get through the telegram bot by TryNinja?
I'm talking about notifications that pop up on the screen for all the apps.
234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin developer @lukedashjr's wallet was hacked on: January 02, 2023, 01:19:31 PM
A question arose on the point of security and how secure can we keep our keys and Bitcoins safe, if it's not even safe at our home. If a core dev like Luke can lose his btc stored since a long time, then anybody here will panic and will try to find the best possible way to store their coins so not to become a victim of such a consequence.

I'm feeling extremely sad on Luke's part but as we have never held 200 btc (most of us) till date, I don't think we are capable of knowing how he must be thinking atm.
235  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: copytrading on: December 29, 2022, 10:02:47 PM
What is bingx?
I've never heard of it before. You can try bitget or bybit's copytrading. I have used bybit's copytrading and I can vouch for their services, it was a good experience and everything is under our control where we set our goals and select the best trader based on their entire performance. Do not choose any trader based on their recent performance because that doesn't guarantee that they will keep consistency and trade likewise, so try to be careful whenever you choose any trader. There's one bad thing about copytrading, the best traders with the best results are already full so try to wait and get a slot in their team, don't be in a hurry and don't copy any 'just another' trader.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of accepting bitcoin in business on: December 29, 2022, 09:22:44 PM
Adoption is taking place almost everywhere, but regulatory bodies are having stricter stance on crypto after what happened with LUNA, UST and FTX investors. However, for small, medium and large scale businesses, accepting crypto when it is in bearish mode is still a great idea because it will give good profits later when bull run begins and it is also a technology that needs to be embraced by different industries to take advantage of the same. Let them know what is Blockchain, they will undoubtedly ask for more of it and that's when you may discuss Bitcoin and crypto with them and tell them about its advantages - security, immutable, store of value for their money, etc.

I don't know why this could become the new standard and what the considerations are, but I don't want it because basically there are a lot of users who deserve to be on the ignore list forever. But I guess I can be kind on birthdays instead of at the end of the year, it's like remission for prisoners. LOL

Remission?
Or reminders for them to stop shitposting and get back with some real passionate gesture without the hunger to earn merits, but honestly give their best to the community without the greed of getting rewarded for it?
I don't keep users on ignore lists because to me, I believe that sometimes we miss out on a great discussion or debate between some user we ignored and the other person whom we adore. But like bearded baby said, to each his own.

@NeuroticFish, such a nice way to wish Merry Christmas while throwing away grudges and hard feelings out of your heart and mind for the users on your ignore list (especially for dkbit98).
238  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short term trading and scalping on: December 29, 2022, 08:24:48 PM
While the timeframes were same in all the charts (i.e.; 1h), what methodology did you use to check for all those volume bars that are different in each of the charts? I can see the volumes vertically on tradingview and some other apps, but this is something new and relatable to actual market pull/push and can be helpful for any type of trading because it gives insights of where the pressure really is and what is needed to be done to break it.

A lot of times I have done parlays in the past, and it fail by a game that was supposed to be an easy win, that's why I'm betting this way today. So, what do you think, will I lose the 6 bets?

Not really, if you are lucky and if the games go in your favor. I have betted that way some time before and the odds were insane, and when I used to win a single game, it would cover at least 8-10 losses if I placed same size bets. I put bets on many underdogs because sometimes, they may win and bring us huge returns if we bet higher, however nobody would go for higher bets because the risks are uncertain and very few would take such risks for unbelievable rewards.
