221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we improve Namecoin adoption? on: March 05, 2015, 10:54:55 AM
I'd like to find a way to get more people involved as well.
I've tried looking for popular sites that have a .bit presence and haven't found any yet.
Is there a search engine for it yet? I know a lot of names are taken but they sure don't have a site.
Or I have the plugin configured wrong but I don't think so. Easier plugins would be better too though.
I'm working on an idea for a .bit site actually that will drive interest/traffic to the namecoin idea.
222  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 05, 2015, 08:07:01 AM
They should just pull the plug = shut down the pool completely, I have to go out to my remote location (which doesn't have external IP, and I couldn't be bothered to setup VPN since the computer there is a windows box) and CEX will be gone, forever. I'd rather have 24 hour blocks on slush than this crap.

Every pool at some point gets attacked. Every pool I have ever used has had an attack happen. It is how the pool responds to the attack. It is 4pm right now in China, and 8am in the UK. If they are UK based, hence the slow response. They are just waking up, maybe a little lazy. Not sure where their admins are.

Right and this isn't the first time they have been attacked.
This is their paycheck. They should have someone working/monitoring 24/7 and better safeguards in place.
They use cloudflare or did.

You're all working too hard.
Take a vacation
224  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 04, 2015, 10:21:21 PM
The building I'm heating is not getting heat!

Time to get some backups..
yea always have a backup pool, and think about moving on.
They have lost a lot of hashing power in the last month for a reason. A good example of why is
I've earned more nmc alone on btcguild than ghash in the same time frame.
Made less btc but why is that? hidden fees?
Btcguild somehow solves more nmc blocks with less hashing power?
Maybe it's just a lucky variance. I doubt it at this point.
225  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: March 04, 2015, 10:12:22 PM
They are in some sort of "scheduled maintenance" I tried to withdraw funds and was sent to that web page.
They sure suck at communicating that to their customers though.

Many people don't kno Nakas hystory so far.
Maybe we will be for week or more without news, then dev release stuff and price jump +200%
As already happened five times or so till now.  Grin Grin
the classic pump and dump, because it always goes back down under 100.

yea worthless fluff
229  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use IRC? (why or why not?) on: February 27, 2015, 09:40:50 PM
I hate using IRC because botnets started using it to communicate and I'm always paranoid I'll be infected if I have to use an apparently legit version.
Roll Eyes I think you need to educate yourself more.
230  Other / Off-topic / Re: Since TrueCrypt died,who is the successor? on: February 27, 2015, 01:44:39 AM
It's still only 1 piece to the puzzle though. Probably wouldn't matter if your HDD firmware was compromised.
231  Other / Off-topic / Re: Since TrueCrypt died,who is the successor? on: February 27, 2015, 12:25:23 AM
VeraCrypt is a fork of TrueCrypt. It's essentially TrueCrypt 8.0.

I still don't see a problem with TrueCrypt. The devs suddenly dropped it with no real reason. A security audit was performed and no security issues have been found.
Only phase 1 was completed and it was a success but phase 2 is still needed
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2887052/truecrypt-audit-back-on-track-after-silence-and-uncertainty.html
there is speculation that the devs were approached by an agency and rather than help they dropped the project.
The no comment is pretty much the canary in the mine though. If it was anything else I'm sure they would
have spoken more openly on why they stopped.
There were rumors that an agency has backdoored the 7.*version again just rumors and everyone just says
be vigilant. I'm sticking with my older version of True Crypt for now though.
example ubuntu privacy team found no issues with 7.0a in their audit

233  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sick of BTCGuild - Where? Help me point my miners! on: February 26, 2015, 04:41:15 PM
Sup Folks!

BTCGuild luck is way down, so I've been riding it hoping it would spike back up. Made a mental note that another 12+ hours without a block and I'm done/looking at options.

Two S5's - 2.5TH/s

AntPool? I know everyone hates ghash/loves ghash or slush... what say ye!?
slush is definitely not for you if you are not happy with btcguild.
For me slush's time is well past its prime. Ghash is being accused of withholding blocks from its users currently.
They have a lot of hashing power but seem to be having really bad luck as of late.
I'm in the same boat as you though right now. I'm going to stick with btcguild for a little more, try and hit my autopayout
goal and than I'm out unless the variance gets better.
234  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Edward Snowden Calls for Civil Disobedience on: February 26, 2015, 04:24:45 PM
Yeah, good luck with that. I can't even convince my friends to use encryption for cell phone calls and texts because they're afraid the government will notice them downloading the software.
You must have the same friends as me. I just don't answer their calls and make them visit me in person.
235  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 300 yo ancient relics for sale on: February 26, 2015, 04:01:35 PM
bro hell no i am not from the bearded duds i'm jewish guy living in fes and i share the same hate that you share for them !
and for sure these items that i have are legal and personnaly owned Smiley
I don't care what your faith is, don't care how you feel about ISIS.
But anyone looking to buy middle eastern artifacts should know of the possibility
that they were stolen and are being sold by ISIS or they were stolen by someone else.
If you did buy it legally which I'm not accusing of not. There should be documentation that goes with it.
The more the better for you. (fetch higher price)

236  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best Guitarist ever ? on: February 26, 2015, 03:54:00 PM
Slash is good but will not nor ever will be the best.
To be the best, requires more diverse playing style to me. Or someone who inspired a shit load of guitarists.
ie; Django, Leadbelly
Dave Murray is better than Slash imnsho. I still wouldn't say hes the best though.
Look at Tony Iommi, lost his finger tips, was inspired by Django and he taught himself how to play without some fingertips.
Eddie Van Halen is better than Slash.
I don't know who I can call the best. A lot of good guitarist are the best at what they do.

237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to delete conflicted transactions? on: February 26, 2015, 03:29:46 PM
Ok, but how to do that?
you can't. Just ignore it and it will disappear in the noise.
238  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 300 yo ancient relics for sale on: February 26, 2015, 03:23:15 PM
HEADS UP:
ISIS is stealing artifacts from the middle east and selling them.
Also there are laws in most countries about importing artifacts.
Most of it is illegal without documentation. Do your homework before buying this.
Especially from a new account.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DRK vs XMR warez on: February 24, 2015, 07:42:09 AM
any coin that begs for money for the developer is a shitcoin.
Satoshi never did and I hold all developers to that standard.
Don't develop it than if you can't handle not getting handouts back from it.

You have no idea who Satoshi is, nor whether he (or they) got paid.

If you'd rather developers steal coins from their users in the form of pre/insta-mines as opposed to asking for contributions, then you have a plethora of options. The rest of us have XMR.

Not to mention that Bitcoin is also funded by donations since years...
yes and there is nothing wrong with people making donations because they want to vs   developers begging for money and threatening to stop developing because of lack of donation support. There is a difference in my mind.
If its that good than someone will step in and donate their time because they believe in it. Or the community will raise funds to help. Not because some greedy developer feels their time isn't being compensated enough for a project they supposedly believed in enough to create.  It's your money, donate to whatever scam you want.
But you won't change my mind about investing in what I consider bad behavior.

Lol. The XMR devs have never begged for money or threatened to stop developing. I have no idea where you're getting that idea from. All I was saying before is that if they had some huge instamine that they could fund themselves with it's likely that things would be a bit different now as having that much money to put towards development is a huge advantage. Even with minimal funding they've done a lot of work. They do obviously believe in it else they wouldn't have spent so much time and money on the project.
I don't know anything about monero, I don't want to know either. Too many fucking shills pumping the coin.
If it's good it will find its place. I was speaking in general like I thought you were.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not everyone can run a full node, and that's OK on: February 24, 2015, 05:25:19 AM
Personal cost and personal benefit.
Unless you tell me the community is going to pay for this 1tb SSD ?
Don't get me wrong, i personally run a full node. The comment he made was just retarded.

You don't need a 1TB SSD. A regular 1TB HDD is $50 on Amazon. As for benefit, instead of complaining maybe think for yourself for a bit. You help securing the Bitcoin network and you need to pay a little fee for this. When you use your regular bank account the fees that the bank takes from your account provide you physical security of your money, computer security, online access to your bank account and many other various services. If you think these services are free you are mistaken.
my bank account doesn't take any fees or I won't use those services that require fees.
I run a full node now without running a server, but my last bit of available HDD space is about gone.
So now I decide spend money to buy a bigger drive and help secure a network now, that in 20 years is going to be
owned by a more central system?- large server farms that only the rich can afford and who will benefit from running the nodes and farms.
Might as well stay with the current banking system really imnsho. because it really isn't going to be any different.
The more I see of the future of bitcoin; the more I see, todays banking system being applied to it.
