221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lies told to cover up gambling habit on: April 23, 2024, 08:42:10 PM

I don't think it was THAT bad. You can have multiple favorite times in a day, at least.

Anyway, I think the only time I lied was during my early days? As I've shared before I was playing poker already with my friends back in hs, and was in a relationship. My partner abhorred the idea of me gambling (or at least, gambling with money, not poker itself) so whenever I was playing, I always told her that we were just playing with cards, no money involved. There came a point though where I was caught red handed so had no choice but to confess Tongue. Naturally I had to stop but eh, we eventually broke up and here I am gambling again.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the Reluctance? on: April 22, 2024, 09:29:14 PM

Can probably be due to regional laws or religion itself, who knows? Idk how much influence religion has in Nigeria but if that was the major factor, then I reckon there's only a specific number of casinos that they themselves specifically allowed to sell their services in the country. If it was regional, same thing maybe, they just allowed a specific number of casinos instead of allowing everything all at once. Might be because they want to better regulate it, or just that the casinos paid the country so as to prevent competition.

Can also include that some providers aren't allowed in the country. And with casinos sometimes having said providers as their key entertainment, they can't exactly compete with existing ones or fully be able to sell their services to the country with those kinds of limitations.
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are more people getting excited about memecoins? on: April 22, 2024, 09:16:00 PM

Quick money if you get lucky. It only takes about what, probably less than a month, maybe even less for a coin to do a quick pump to its peak so people can instantly profit x% amount every time. And for the most part they don't need to invest much of their money to profit that big. They just need to spend a larger amount of time though to find a coin that would look like it could pump or join the group who's going to do the pump and dump and know the timing so as to profit big. If people were saying that trading can be called gambling, then yeah, this is the gambling part they were talking about.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streaming community are getting worst!!! on: April 22, 2024, 09:02:31 PM
~
First time? There are quite a bit of streamers out there who turned to gambling after having lost all their main audience. Might just be due to them not growing really as a content creator, or just others having better content than them so the audience simply went to them instead. Well, that's the old streamers' part and just my take on why they went to gambling instead of continuing their old style.

As for new ones, I don't think there's any dignity to sell in the first place since they don't have a brand in the first place, they might just really like gambling so they started with that. In the first place I wouldn't really blame them for the audience watching them, each person has their own choice to watch others after all. And if it was the young viewers, it's not their job to filter it out so that they aren't watchable by said viewers, it's the platforms job.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you see NFTs heading in the future? on: April 21, 2024, 11:02:09 PM
~
Idk, they seem like they'll forever be a niche market for me. A lot of the art in there is just stuff that people made to make a quick buck, with more effort spent on the marketing segment of things rather than the quality of the product itself. There are still some items there that are worth the price they're posted in, heck some are even underpriced compared to the damn thousands of dollar monkey jpegs people made back then.

There's other use cases for NFTs right now as well other than the art itself ofc, but again they're mostly focusing on marketing it instead of improving the product itself. I do believe with someone appreciating someone else's work though. I've seen quite a bit of quality NFTs in the past.
226  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading with AI on: April 21, 2024, 09:34:00 PM
~
Yea, they're making 2.5-2.7% profit off of YOU, and similar people like you who just give them money. No AI is going to give you that guarantee of profit, even a professional trader probably wouldn't give his word that he can 100% give you that amount of daily profit. It's doable, but not permanently. And I highly doubt they even use AI, probably just a buzzword that they use to be "in the times". That is unless OP you post your results, otherwise this is the stance most people would probably adopt.
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's in For Altcoins after the Halving? on: April 21, 2024, 08:58:13 PM
~
Wouldn't it happen later on? The Bitcoin rally we had before the halving right now made some altcoins pump iirc, but it gradually corrected itself a few weeks after that, same with how Bitcoin corrected itself a few weeks after reaching that 70k. Anw, I reckon we'd see another Bitcoin pump half a year to a year from now on, so the altcoin pump most would be waiting should also be then since it tends to follow the price of Bitcoin. So yea, right now I reckon just trade like normal. We're not going to see any major changes, at least for a month or two from now.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is User Base the Biggest Factor in CEXs Growth? on: April 21, 2024, 10:57:10 AM
~
Overall I believe, the first quarter of 2024 presented a mixed picture for the cryptocurrency derivatives market. While established players like Binance held their ground, Bitget emerged as a growing force, particularly in the spot and futures trading segments.

What other factors can propel a CEX growth?
There's a lot, but most of it would probably rely on how big and intense the marketing they do, especially with how there's a lot of competition in the business already. There's probably a group out there who would appreciate a not-so-strict KYC procedure, but at the same time, I reckon there's also a huge part who doesn't really give a crap about it and is mostly about how the reputation of the exchange is.

Other than those and the obvious stuff like security, trading volume, and the common features of an exchange, I believe there's nothing much else to it other than what I initially said, marketing. Regardless of how good a product this, it's not going to grow if the marketing it has is bad. It can grow given enough time, but a good marketing strategy can drastically reduce that timespan.
229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Understanding the Impact of Social Media in Gambling. on: April 21, 2024, 07:15:17 AM
~
They'd definitely be influenced, but I reckon it's a lot better than most of the dumbshit that people show on Social Media (I'm looking at you Tiktok). At least, money is the thing involved, most of which isn't accessible to the younger audience.

Afaik though there are restrictions when it comes to gambling-related stuff anyway? So at a certain audience level, I highly doubt we'd see kids seeing gambling promotions. They'd probably have to be at idk, 16 and above age maybe? There's some that can get through though since the system isn't exactly perfect but I highly doubt we can persuade those who make these promotions to limit the people who can see it. They don't give a crap about it in the first place since they just want money imo.
230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can people still get the addictive nature through friendly games on: April 21, 2024, 12:42:13 AM
~
Idk, it felt so wrong that you asked the others to return the money they won. I'm assuming you guys are adults and well, matters like that are just something normal imo. If you were kids then maybe, but seeing as it was a sort of reunion then I reckon you guys are old enough already.

Anyway, I think your friend is fine mostly. His pride looked simply just scratched because of some arguments hence why they raised the stakes. I don't think it's going to lead to anything gambling related wise, but it does seem like he has some anger management issues?
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: THERE ARE TWO THINGS INVOLVED on: April 20, 2024, 12:06:46 PM
~
The whole wall is either if A happens, then blah blah. If A happens, then you do B, blah blah. Kind of contradicting since you can just combine them into one imo.

Anyway in my case I'd much rather ignore the money aspect side of things when gambling. Yes it's there, and I notice it, but regardless I try to stop myself from thinking of it as "money", but instead rather my available tries, which is limited (which is the most important part). Think of it like the coins you get to play on arcades. Makes things more enjoyable, fun, and controlled. Enjoyable and fun since I don't need to mind myself trying to return the money, and controlled since the "coins" I have when I start playing is the limit I set for myself, simple as that.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Casino Game Has the Best Odds? on: April 20, 2024, 05:09:31 AM
~
House edge on most games are close to one another no? Unless you're trying to get the best of the best of the best out of your money when gambling I don't really think it's worth the effort to calculate those stuff. If you want to stay away from odds then the furthest you can get is with games that has part skill required, like blackjack, poker, unlike dice, crash, slots which rely completely on luck, at the very least the former has some reading skills needed.

Honestly just play what you want and where you have fun. I've been mostly playing crash a lot and regardless of whether the casino sucks me dry or not, I've enjoyed it pretty well.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karate Combat on: April 20, 2024, 12:50:09 AM

Unfortunately, the site seems to be down right now? Or is our country (PH) geoblocked? Weird if it was. Seems really interesting though, I wonder if I'll get the same thrill as I do whenever I watch fighting games like Tekken or GB Versus. It's also interesting since it seems like an automated and realtime thing where players are the one in control of the odds for each match since they'd just pool the money for who they vote naturally.

Might place some bets if I remember about it later on, currently out right now  Tongue.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 18, 2024, 11:12:17 PM

Well deserved imo. It seems like it's not just one, but multiple instances of matches that he did this and he probably went ahead and spread this out to a rather sizeable group of bettors. Pretty easy to see how this breaks the idea of fair play when it comes to sports betting and we all know how sports tournaments have a partnership of sorts with bookies. I guess the level of punishment would've been toned down if the issue was a bit lighter but only they can say really how heavy the violation was.

Also from a few threads I've read, looks like the man is a gambling addict? Guess that's why he gave up his life career for just that much lol.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Meme coins at it again, Another about to go up ? on: April 18, 2024, 09:35:29 PM
~
They're always at it imo, especially new coins like what you just recommended OP. They usually always have a really great launch, and then just plummet down to the depths unless there's some really dedicated holders out there that keep it alive, like Doge for example.

Well if you're lucky enough you can take profit out of it. Heck I reckon most already did and that's why you see it currently dipping right now. Wouldn't really assume it's going past that peak for quite a while, but hey who knows? The team behind might just go for one more big pump and dump before leaving.
236  Economy / Economics / Re: Prioritizing strong foundation over quick gains on: April 18, 2024, 09:13:45 PM
~
Well quick gains can happen, just that instead of relying on the project, you're relying more on luck. While I do agree that it often leads to just losing all your money, some people can just manage to hit those kinds of things every once in a while. Not to mention that as long as you know how to look at the obvious scammy ones (which has no guarantee) vs ones that can give you profit (even if it's only in the short term), I reckon it can be a pretty good strategy.

Personally I think the same, but that's mostly because I suck at short term projects, always overextending my stay leading to a loss instead of a gain.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of eSports Betting on: April 17, 2024, 11:04:28 PM
Esports have become one of the fastest rising betting markets in the world. There are several factors for this, including the advent of cryptocurrency in sports betting markets, which makes eSports betting something that every handicapper should check out. See below for the top factors that has led to the rise of eSports gambling along with its strong connection to crypto sportsbooks.
How tf did crypto do anything in helping eSports bets rise? eSports naturally grew to its current level mostly due to growing interest in it, which is gradual, but growing. I'd also personally take into account how the pandemic made a lot of people take notice of it since competitive eSports were able to continue regardless of the pressing issues that the pandemic had in the past, not to mention that it also opened up time for a LOT of people to play the games themselves, thereby creating attention towards the competitive scene.

I think right now we are experiencing the fall of eSports betting rather than the rise of it. Though 2019 to now so many good players resigned, became free agents or entire teams disbanded. It's ridiculous to see that for them there is better money in streaming rather than being in a team.

The sponsors and the gaming companies have reduced the money they invest in tournaments too much. Of course now there are more tournaments but the quality has reduced drastically along with the budget and the rewards. Many tournaments these days even don't have any rewards. The golden era was around 2013 to 2018 probably
It's mostly due to competitive orgs of eSports overspending. With my prior argument, competitive eSports surged during the pandemic which lead to a surplus of attention to it, bringing in more and more money so orgs started paying players waaaay above the normal pay grade than they normally would've. Now that the scene is regulating itself back to normal, naturally, players would have their salaries reduced to proper levels since competitions as well are starting to regulate their competitions. Wouldn't say it's dying though, nor rising.

Quality wise though I think it's only improved? At least presentation-wise on the MOBA side like Dota2 and League of Legends.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ways to Appreciate Your Favorite Casino Beyond Playing on: April 17, 2024, 09:50:55 PM
~
Play more. They literally give out that stuff because they want you to spend more in their casino, I don't see any reason why I should go beyond that. The best I could think of outside of playing really is sharing affiliate links and maybe writing reviews, but again, they'd probably appreciate it more if I instead spent $1000 more each session with their bonuses than finding people who may or may not play in their casino.

In the first place, those things are part of their business plan, not out of the goodness of their hearts. They invented stuff like loyalty rewards to create a sense of being rewarded constantly regardless if you win or lose. It's just business.
239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't Altcoin a distraction to Bitcoin adoption? on: April 17, 2024, 09:39:49 PM
~
Not really no? A lot of crypto dudes entered the scene from altcoins really. Especially if you look into how NFT's and altcoins tied to crypto games exploded and a lot of new people were able to enter the scene through them. Granted not all of them stayed, but I reckon there's a good chunk in there that started learning and investing in Bitcoin. I reckon without altcoins (or at least, the idea of making your own crypto like Bitcoin), a lot of the current things we have right now wouldn't exist.

In the first place I wouldn't call altcoin a distraction, altcoins can basically be a promotion to Bitcoin really due to how most people would attribute the origin of most cryptos to Bitcoin. I wouldn't disagree that there are thousands of shitcoins out there though, but I reckon if companies were as easily made as cryptocurrencies, we'd have the same thousands of shit companies out there.
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving, historical price surges to follow? on: April 16, 2024, 10:44:57 PM
~
It's pretty well known since it's probably the most easiest metric for most people to check and see how much BHitcoin grew every halving which happens in a constant pace, so it's easy to keep track of and guaranteed to happen, unlike other events like the announcement of a Bitcoin ETF. No one would've predicted that it would've happened this year after all.

Now as for the scale of increase though, I do believe it's gradually getting smaller. Still a sizeable amount ofc, but compared tot he past jumps after the halving? A lot smaller. Even 200k sounds like a stretch to me, let alone 500k.
