still no answer to my mail after 1 week  Huh
i want my account back !!!!!!!!

We are re-working our recovery protocol to allow users to set an email soon and recover via a form. Currently we get hundreds of emails that essentially say "hey this is my account give me my password". If your account has no balance which appears to be the case it's best to simply create a new account, otherwise you'd need sufficient evidence such as IP's, signed primary depositing addresses etc.

Over the past two months we've mainly been hard at work on security/performance related issues, we are finally transitioning into features.

Why "Roll Dice button" is very slow compare to "Auto betting"?? There's delay in roll dice button fix this bug. I'm tired waiting to see the result and 2-4 seconds delay.

There is actually a problem with your internet connection, while using normal betting, when you click roll, your request to roll will be delayed due to your connection, after 2 seconds, server read it to roll and roll the dice, and while you use auto roll, this doesnt applied, so that you got a faster bet

I don't think you're right at all here (or I misunderstand you completely).  When you're using the auto-bet, your browser is sending bets to primedice via your internet connection (using javascript), there's no skipping connecting to the server (as far as I know).  The user might experience all sorts of the things that slow down the experience one way or another but there's no way to bet on primedice without sending your bets.

Price is pretty high on this one.  I'm suspecting it has something to do with just-dice.  I've sold most of mine and I'm telling my friends.  I suspect there's no reason to hold these things and cashing in now is not too bad.

Hooray for "obsolete" tools which still do useful things and which run easily on UNIX like systems:

http://blog.richardkiss.com/?p=371

the "bu" tool which comes with this python package fixed my issue out-of-the box.  Deleting all .dlls I can find on my system now Smiley

Problem solved!

Hello tspacepilot. Looking a bit i found a tool that will be useful for what you do. It is simple to use, you will find a tutorial.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Address_Utility

Hope that helps, greetings.

Turns out `which mono` suggests that I already have the csharp compiler for linux.  I cloned the repo from github but I have no idea what to do next.  In a normal source program, I'd run ./configure && make && make install, but there's no Makefile here.

Anyone have hints?

Edit: here's me flailing around with this windows shit like a fish out of water:

Code:
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ mono Program.cs
The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded.
It should have been installed in the `/usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll' directory.
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ mono Barcode128b.cs
The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded.
It should have been installed in the `/usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll' directory.
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ mono BtcAddress.csproj
The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded.
It should have been installed in the `/usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll' directory.
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ apt-cache search mscorelib
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$

Any tips appreciated (or if anyone knows a UNIX utility, I'd be happy to abondon this csharp thingy (.dlls on linux, gross!))

Further edit:  Found my error in the apt-cache search, installed corlib (no e), now:

Code:
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ mono BtcAddress.csproj
Cannot open assembly 'BtcAddress.csproj': File does not contain a valid CIL image.
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ mono Barcode128b.cs
Cannot open assembly 'Barcode128b.cs': File does not contain a valid CIL image.
tspacepilot@citrus:~/src/Bitcoin-Address-Utility$ mono Program.cs
Cannot open assembly 'Program.cs': File does not contain a valid CIL image.

I cannot tell you how wrong this feels to be compiling some kinda microsoft thingys on my debian system.  There's gotta be a perl program that will convert this address for me....

I want to bump this.  btcchris suggested that there were a ton of solutions out there for me (but didn't point me to any of them).  If he's right, surely you guys can point me in the right direction (or maybe I need to bit the bullet and apt-get install mono?).

Umm i think you can recover your account here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0
just sign message and follow the details given in the thread .

(Usually) theymos doesn't involve in these type of things.

There is nothing wrong with buying and selling accounts if both parties agree, and the buying party does not have an intention to cheat the community or break any rules or spam the forum.

Buying selling account is allowed on the forum but selling hacked account is not allowed . if you got caught selling hacked or scammed account you will get ban too .

This is a new rule, obviously made by you or it was a mistake. "Scams aren't moderated" and also if there was a rule like that, I, Marco and few thers would have been banned long ago. I don't think this rule will ever come to existence because it is hard to know what is true and what is not.

What?  I must be misunderstanding you, MZ.  It sounds like you're confessing to scamming people, but surely this isn't the case.
2207  Economy / Services / Re: Up to 0.035 BTC weekly for YOUR SIGNATURE *New rules on: April 07, 2015, 05:23:39 AM
Are they considering a upgrade of the prices or definitely not? BTC prices keep going down/stays this low and meanwhile other campaigns like Bit-x are automatizing their process and pay better..

Surely another reason to leave for another campaign then? I think if enough people left en masse then they might consider upping the rates but I can't see any change coming anytime soon.

Indeed, in these contexts I think the only reasonable thing to do is to vote by joining another program.  I loved the old bitmixer program where you got paid very little but didn't have to post.  Since they went to a pay-to-post scheme I think there are obviously better options.
2208  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: April 07, 2015, 05:21:44 AM
Hey Micon, random thought about the thread title while browsing the front page...

Since we're on a bitcoin forum, is the "No Banking, Only Bitcoin" part already implied?

Was thinking it might be better to include the stuff that makes SwC different and better than the other options listed here.

Maybe something about OFC and all the various games?

On the other hand, "no banking, only bitcoin" seems to imply trustlessness and the "no dox required" ethos which made sealswithclubs famous.  I'm certainly wary of other sites which require personal information and I think that the "no banking, only bitcoin" seems to emphasize that.

Hi folks, I've changed the bitcoin address I wish to use for the campaign (and other forum stuff).  I've updated my profile info.  Can I be sure that you'll pay to my new address this week based on this?  Or should I send someone a private message to remind to update the spreadsheet?  Thanks!

Hi, post your address in this thread with a request to change it. Just for the record.

Thanks Smiley

Just a reminder for a caution;
I don't say that account is hacked but it's a common sense that if an account wants to change payout addres it might be hacked.
I think tspacepilot should post a signed message with the old payout address that says "I want to change my payout address to this one. today's date."

That prooves his identity, if the account is hacked hacker won't be able to proove that one.

Also this method should be a standard for all signature campaings (who wants to change payout address).

I certainly can sign a message with my old address (because I still have the keys to do so).

However, if this were a requirement of the campaign, it's really important that it be said upfront because, had the situation been different, I may have simply lost my device or had a wallet stolen.  FWIW, if my wallet had been hacked then you could be forcing the attacker to sign a message.  Signing a message doesn't prove that my situation hasn't changed and it would be unfortunate if people who had lost a wallet for some reason or another couldn't prevent the campaign from sending bitcoins to a lost or stolen address.

I'm not saying payout address signing is a must it's a should.
If the participant looses the control of the current payout address (or maybe using an exchange address), (s)he can sign another address which is posted before on an unedited post to proove identity.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "before".  Certainly it's difficult to predict that you are about to lose your address or be hacked.  What you say, signing a mesage from an address (or perhaps signing messages from several addresses) seems like a good idea, but it's impossible to be prepared for every imaginable bad scenario.

I recall that a few years ago I lost about 0.09BTC because I updated the software on my phone one sleeplessnight only to recall afterwards that "whoops" the only backup of the private keys in that wallet was an old one and I had forgotten the password. I tell this story just to emphasize that accidents happen, and it's be a shame to punish someone again who was already in the shitstorm having had an old address lost or stolen.

A few replies here.

What Quickseller seems to not be acknowledging is that in principle, the limits/lack of features on newer accounts aren't there just because accounts are like fine wines and need to age a little in order to taste nice, it's because the people who own these accounts are supposed to be limited in this way until they've been around long enough to have proven themselves worthy of greater privileges.  There is a very real sense in which buying and selling of accounts undermines these restrictions.  To emphasize, it's not that in principle newbie accounts are supposed to be limited, in principle its that newbie people are supposed to be limited.  This is carried out by limiting newbie accounts.

The limits are to prevent people from scamming. They were instituted as a result of this thread which was complaining about phishing attempts and scam attempts via PM. The reason why people will not try this with a purchased account is that if they are caught trying to scam then their investment will disappear so people have an incentive not to scam with a purchased account (this incentive is not there when you go and create a brand new account and then make a few posts until it becomes a junior member).

That's only true if the scam amount is less than what was paid for the account.  Otherwise the point doesn't hold.  It's certainly not generally true.  I don't think that you can make the argument that "spam" or "trolling" aren't relevant here.  They may not be "scams" per se but certainly part of the restrictions on new accounts is to slow spammer and trolls.

Quote
Now, I'm not passionate about this issue.  And I understand that the forum rules don't disallow account buying and selling, but I think that in arguing about this it's important to recognize that there's no logical point of limiting newbie accounts unless you understand that as a proxy for limiting newbie people who control these accounts.

There are a good number of people who run their business out of separate accounts from their "main" one.

I don't see how this addresses my point above.  There's nothing inherent about a newbie account which would suggest that it should be limited.  The reason to limit a newbie account is motivated as a proxy for limiting the newbie person via their account.

Quote
In many ways, I see the lack of a ban on buying and selling accounts as a strange kind of loophole in the prohibition on ban evasion.  That is, there's a rule that if you're banned then you're not supposed to buy a new account in order to be unbanned.  But apparently, if you're a newbie, there's no prohibition on buying another account in order to get around restrictions on post time waiting and cetera.

Just my 2 Satoshis.
It is much easier to tell that two accounts belong to the same person then it is to tell that one account no longer belongs to the previous owner. Not only that but there are a number of legit reasons to both buy and sell accounts so there is no good reason to prohibit their sale even if they reasonably could be detected and stopped

Certainly this is your opinion.  I just bold it to try to highlight the difference between factual claims and opinions.  If you want to convince others that your opinion is correct then you ought to offer a rationale, IMHO.

Thanks for the all the feedback everyone.

At this point we do not want to change the minimum deposit seeing how we do not recommend leaving funds in your BitcoinPoker.gg account for too long. Even though the funds are safe we do not want people to treat out service as a wallet.

Regarding the hourly freerolls. I think it would be best if we did the 5mBTC hourly and only paid the Top winner. Unfortunately with how low it is paying out the Top 3 would not really be beneficial.

We figured 5mBTC would be good because we do have a Sit & GO that has a buy-in of 5mBTC.

Cool, are you doing the hourlys then?  If so I'll try it out tonight after work!

Yes but I do not think we are going to start our hourly 5mBTC freerolls until our signature campaign starts, but this could change. I will let everyone know.

We are going to setup 1 more 200mBTC freeroll on Wednesday at 9:00AM EST. This will be for all of those that are unable to make the 7:00PM EST freerolls.

Oh, okay, still that's fun news.  I honestly expect that frequent, small freerolls whill get people gambling their winnings at your tables which is what you want in order to attract people to cash in their own money.  I don't want to cash into a site unless there's some action there for me.  Looking forward to it.

We are hoping to start getting our tables with active players on them.

I completely understand not wanting to cash into a site until other players are available to play.

We will be doing some promotion soon for our cash games and paid tournaments. Right now we are just continuing to gain the trust of the community.

People love free money so I'm guessing you're on the right track Smiley

Try that and check the specs. You can run it offline and it defaults as a closed grid option so it's a blank slate that will run on anything, really.

it would be called "investment" otherwise and not "gambling" Tongue

There is still no guarantee in "investment", no matter if it is an investment in a casino's bankroll, stock market or in bitcoin itself. Tongue

You could essentially say everything in life is gambling  Grin

Gambling involves making bets. betting money. Strictly speaking, everything in life cannot be called as gambling.

I think the point being made was that because life comes with no absolute guarantees, if you define gambling as anything without a guarantee, you have effectively classed all of life into gambling.
2218  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: April 06, 2015, 05:52:01 PM
these 4 lines cleaned up the playmoney lingo to call a bitcoin a bitcoin

Code:
var bbs = document.getElementsByClassName("balance-bits");
var b = document.getElementById("balance_bits");
for (var i=0;i<bbs.length;i++) {
  bbs[i].innerHTML="μBTC: "+b.outerHTML;
}
var stickies = document.getElementsByClassName("sticky");
for (var i=0;i<stickies.length;i++) {
  if (stickies[i].innerHTML == "Bits")
    stickies[i].innerHTML="μBTC";
}

I find your use of the overloaded term "4" to be very confusing. We already have a metric term "10" for that number of lines. I don't see any need for you to reuse an existing number for this purpose.

If you know how to use a calculator, here's some buttons you can press to convert from sed numbers to regular people numbers:

Code:
* 2.5 =

Please update your post to give us an option to decide which number system to use. It's clearly trivial as shown in the above list of calculator buttons.

Wink

Superfunny, I'm not sure how sed called that 4 lines (even if we collapse the two if lines, we'd get 9; even if we collapse the two for loops we'd get 6).  This is one of the funniest posts I've seen in a while.  Can't wait to see if sed wants to defend his numbering system Smiley

This sort of question has been asked and answered quite a bit (not trying to be rude) -- there are a lot of bits of code in various wallets / products that will do this sort of thing if you know where to look.

It's certainly not rude if you point out the locations of those asked/answered pairs Smiley

If you don't want to deal w/a compiler, what language did you have in mind? If for example your answer's Python I could probably point you to a few places to look.

C, C++, Perl, Python, javascript, bash, php, would be fine.  I don't mind compilers, anything that gcc or g++ can compile would be fine.  It's just that I run GNU/Linux and I'm not used to Windows stuff.

I got the hex versions of my keys as a dump from a Java protobuf wallet.  If there's something in bitcoinj that I should know about then that would work fine too!

Many thanks for any suggestions!

I finally tried it.  The animation is pretty neat.  I worked pretty good for me in chromium.  However, in firefox it just froze up.

I thought someone said I could change "bits" to satoshis somewhere in the interface.  I couldn't find it though.  The "bits" thing makes it seem like play money or some new altcoin.

Also, I ended up with 0.51 "bits" which I think is 51 satoshis.  Can I gift this to someone on the site somehow?  Is there a tipping mechanism?  It seems like 100Sat is the smallest amount you're allowed to bet.

no tipping mechanism yet in moneypot as it will encourage begging in chat , and also you can use shiba for the calculation to satoshi, although i forgot the command, it will be wise for ryan to actually add a FAQ list for shiba's command

FYI 1 bits = 100 satoshis

Yes, yes, I know what a "bit" is said to equal.  I'm not wanting to go down that road again (it seems like 20% of this thread has been dedicated to fights about "bits").  I just thought that there was an option in the UI to make it say something normal like Satoshis or uBTC.  It's all good, I must have misunderstood.

Like I said, the animation was pretty neat.

Assuming you know how to make your browser run some custom javascript on a particular site/page, then you can save the following as a file and it finally fixes the "bits" conundrum.   It's so embarrasing that the site owner doesn't want to just make a fix that's part of the website (given how easy it is to fix), but these 4 lines cleaned up the playmoney lingo to call a bitcoin a bitcoin, which makes the game a lot more enjoyable for me (and for a lot of others, apparantly).

Code:
var bbs = document.getElementsByClassName("balance-bits");
var b = document.getElementById("balance_bits");
for (var i=0;i<bbs.length;i++) {
  bbs[i].innerHTML="μBTC: "+b.outerHTML;
}
var stickies = document.getElementsByClassName("sticky");
for (var i=0;i<stickies.length;i++) {
  if (stickies[i].innerHTML == "Bits")
    stickies[i].innerHTML="μBTC";
}

That is kinda neat.  Thanks sed!  Moneypot just got cooler.

Hey sed (or others),

I stuck your script into a greasemonkey/tampermonkey plugin to run on moneypot domain and it seems like part of it works great (the part which changes the balance in the top right) but the other part seems to run too early.  That is, there's some ajax on the page and I found that using tampermonkey, your script runs before the AJAX request loads the widget which says "Bits" next to your amount to bet, in the .sticky.  I don't know if you or anyone else has any advice on how to fix that (other than doing a 2 second timeout or something, which doesn't seem very elegant).  It seems like in principle you may want to overwrite the XHR prototype or something so that you can have your code run onreadystatechange == 4 or something like that.  But I'm not an expert so I thought I'd ask here.
