I am usually very informed about new ICO or new coins but I have never heard of STEEM so far. I have seen the coin on coinmarketcap and was surprised where it come from. What is so specially about this coin / project?
It was ninja launched by the devs of bitshares, so that they could instamine the shit out of it and completely control the supply. Apparently on their first launch they were unable to mine a high enough percentage, so they relaunched to grab an even higher percent, allegedly to avoid some legal repercussions of launching an ICO coin, so they skirted the law by launching a PoW coin that rapidly switched to DPoS and instamined the fuck out of it. I wouldn't touch it with a stick the size of Dikembe Mutombo's dick, but listen to bitcoinjesus2.0 if you like to take dirty money from Larimers and perpetuate their scams. |

It's hard enough to come up with a good description of bitcoin, which I think would probably need to be a starting point, but multi-algo definitely adds a few wrinkles.
Also, I detect some ambiguity or conflict between "the best short, plain English explanation" and "elegance, poignance, and poetic beauty", but...I'm not an English major.

So Bitcoin.com just published an interview with Konrad S. Graf ( https://news.bitcoin.com/konrad-graf-bitcoin-block-size-economy/). He's very well respected in this community for his economic/historical work on the origin of Bitcoin's value, so I think his views on the block size are important. Apparently, he views the 1 MB limit as something similar to a government-mandated output ceiling, and that it disrupts a block size 'free market,' so to speak. What do you guys think? The potential for abuse without a block-size limit is too high, if the block size limit is removed, then it will be the end of all chains that adopted the removal. ... Did you read the article? He doesn't advocate for removal of the block size limit. He does seem in favor of keeping the limit well above the average block size, whether by a series of hard forks or a dynamically adjusting block size limit, but he doesn't really take a strong position one way or another. He does briefly discuss what he thinks would happen in the absence of a block size limit on the last page, but I certainly wouldn't say he's pushing for it. If you didn't read, I would recommend checking it out - I think he presents some nuanced and logical arguments about what is happening and could happen under different scenarios. |

Rich list is here: https://cryptap.us/myr/richlist/For brief answers to your other questions: 1) The multi-algo method works with basically five separate hashing algorithms working independently, and whenever one of them finds a block, it is added to the blockchain. They each have a target time of 5 minutes, so on average there is one block produced about each minute. The system doesn't really keep it fair except that if it's very easy to find blocks on one algo, miners will migrate there and balance it out. This worked OK for the GPU algos, but for a while the ASIC algos had some issues with getting stuck at high difficulty; this was solved by making the two ASIC algos merge mineable, so now they have a large, steady hashrate and don't suffer from that problem. 2) The only coins that really use one address per wallet are cryptonote coins such as Monero. For Bitcoin and its derivatives it is best practice to never reuse an address, i.e., you should have about as many addresses as transactions in your wallet (considering you get change outputs). Maybe you've just been using Bitcoin clones based on an older codebase where it didn't push this best practice as hard, but if you use a modern version of Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, etc, I think you should see the same behavior. Please ask for clarification on anything you're unsure about or I glossed over, and I'll try to answer tomorrow or someone else will be along to help. Surprisingly no elements begin with the letter 'w'. Could go with tungsten warptangent for the 74th release tho. The same promo event will not work twice on the same aws account - You can use it on another account that has not redeemed that particular event though. Seems like there is quite a bit of interest in DCR...hashrate keeps climbing. It's almost the most profitable coin to mine, and now that there is the dualminer with ETH, which is the most profitable coin to mine, it makes sense that hashrate would rise. I wouldn't necessarily expect price to rise though, more likely to drop as farms and stuff dual-mine and dump. |

Yes sadly though MYR did a lot of great things it seems to have disappeared into oblivion. I think it still being developed though. It's definitely still being developed. It was upgraded to Bitcoin 0.11.2 codebase recently. I wouldn't say it's disappeared into oblivion at all; it's #38 on coingecko, ahead of clams, shadowcash, and anoncoin.
