So, they put their profits in Sync. What do we care?

It sounds like they dumped a lot of Voot and put the money into SYNC.

SYNC just posted this.  Anyone know what it means?

I've been thinking.  A lot people think of Britcoin as a country coin and that brings a lot of negative connotations.  I don't know how feasible it would be but perhaps a rebranding as something like for example "Digital Sterling" might work better, particularly as it would be easier to do whilst the coin is still quite small and doesn't have a huge footprint.  It would not take long to change and would be more internationally inclusive.

Quick update on what's going on with BritCoin;

We've found our new PR/Marketing team member, Lee 'MiB' Exley from England.  Making him the 4th member of the BritCoin team, a big welcome to him! Smiley

Work on our BritCoin promo video has began, this will outline the benefits of using Brit in simple terms and hopefully will be helpful for new buyers and users.

The BritCoin marketplace is beginning to take shape, which will allow users to buy/sell/trade anything in BritCoins with Escrow support.

Our 'buy Brit with Fiat' platform is currently being tested, due to unforeseen delays it should be ready for live use early next week.

We're also in talks with Moolah and Bittylicious about partnering, with some luck I will be able to update everyone on the outcomes soon. Smiley

Fantastic news.  Now all in the community should help spread the word about this.  Particularly the BRIT>FIAT platform - that is huge news.

Community has also grown with the POS difficulties, that's worth mentioning because this thread was fairly quiet before. Does dynamic POS mean people with bigger wallets get more interest?
No, it means that the dividend differs based on external events. Vericoin has something similar, where the more people that stake the higher the payout will be. I'm not sure exactly how they're going to structure it, so I'm really looking forward to more details Smiley

Yes I think that would be a good idea.  The Vericoin system rewards increase for everyone (the percentage goes up) when more people stake.  Would be good to reward holders this way with NAUT.  Also to all the people complaining about price - SHUT UP!  I'm waiting until I can get more NAUT and you'll spoil the ability to buy more coins cheaply:)

Maybe Blocktech can also set up a multipool? Anyone knows?

Might just be easier to ask Coinking.io to allow payouts in NAUT.

Feel free to dump anytime, plenty of people will catch your cheap coins.

Now that I've calmed down I'm going to try to resist that urge.  Note I don't think Bryce Weiner is stupid or incapable.  I think he has talent but the biggest problem with Bryce Weiner is Bryce Weiner and his post here illustrates the point.  Some people are immediately turned off anything that involves him and you can see that with any of the coins he has worked on.  I hope this time it's different particularly if someone else at blocktech can deal with PR rather than Bryce.
I like Bryce, but I can see why some people don't. I'd invite you to look at it like this though; this isn't Bryces coin, BK will do all the PR and whatnot. Therefore the only thing that's really important is if Bryce, and the rest of Blocktech, are good devs or not. I think even their biggest detractors will have to (grudgingly!) agree that they are.

That's why I'm still in.  My main problem with Bryce is that he scares people away.  I don't personally care what he's like because I'm not trying to be his friend - lol, but unfortunately these days PR seems to be even more important than the product itself these days.

PoS Update

I have asked Blocktech to take over the PoS implementation.  They have a strong team who can execute my original vision of a dynamic PoS.  As well, they are visible and accessible.

It is my view, that this change will dramatically improve NAUT.

-BK

Well BK you have now killed NAUT for me and many others.  I can't buy into anything involving the Weiner any more.

I'm having an issue with the mac wallet where it always freezes up with the dreaded beachball of death after a few hours of staking requiring me to "Force Quit" and restart.  I didn't report on it earlier because I wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue/interaction with the other apps I'm running but it seems to be the Britcoin wallet itself.  I'm running OS X 10.9.4 - Here are the mac specs:

wtf is going on on swisscex ??, i see lots of sells and buys but they flash up so quick you can barely see them until they show on last 50 trades.

Is this some kind of bot in action or what  Huh

It's bot action/price manipulation.  Someone is generating fake traffic through trading bots buying and selling their own orders, because the trade bots can access the apis much faster than we can humanly access the site you will see these lightning trades occurring.  This is deliberate to ensure that nobody else buys their coins otherwise the scheme wouldn't work.  It is likely there is a whale who is looking to create both artificial volume and drive down the price for accumulation.  The artificial volume is to make the data look like genuine buys and sells (although anyone who looks closely will see what is going on).  It pretty much happens with every coin.  Don't get taken in and don't sell your coins dirt cheap or you will come to regret it later when they go ahead and use their resources to pump the coin.

OH SH**!  I wasn't paying attention.  It's at no. 10 now!  I think we should just vote for every other coin that's near it.  If I find the moron who's doing this.....

Don't worry about it, it will go away eventually. Let's get voting for the others!

Mjollnircoin is now at rank #4 at MintPal, you can vote for StabilityShares (XSI) to increase the gap Smiley https://www.mintpal.com/voting#XSI

I run the coin StabilityShares, and just wanted to thank you for your support.  We really appreciate everyone's votes on Mintpal!

Our coin just released a new feature that increases wallet security, and soon we will have a plugin for merchants to receive XSI as payment.

We hope to work together in the future on promotion or development  Grin

Welcome.  I have had some stability shares too long term.  I think XSI is much more prepared for the increased traffic so it's good to see this happening.  I don't understand why Mintpal didn't add you in their heyday.  They seem to be dying now so I'm not sure if XSi needs Mintpal as much as Mintpal needs XSi.  Best of luck though and good to hear you are still working on it.  As part of the MNR community it would be great to see collaboration with the XSi community.

It is interesting, however it looks like you could really fuk yourself into a hole if not configured properly. Some people who are selling their licenses seem to have been under the impression that its a "set it and forget it" app. Hardly the case, you have to watch where its going.

Some people deliberately use them for evil acts (whales for example) or try to (wannabe whales who aren't at all).  When used how they are supposed to be they do have their uses for people looking to make lots of small margin trades etc.  Like Rage said they need to be supervised regularly or you could end up losing a lot of money in the short term.  People who know what to do can easily "game" them or set up other bots against them purely for fun to cause price stagnation and just to piss people off.  - They can be really annoying and tend to put some people off investing in coins if they see a lot of bot activity.

Note, I very much doubt the big whales use any of the freely available trading bots.  They most likely have custom coded bots made specifically for their needs.    These people throw around serious money and they don't cut corners in this regard as even a small percentage difference can be many BTC to them.

I really, really wonder why this coin is not successing.. Mining was great, Devs plans were good, no chinese stuff.. Its just a flat line on Bittrex.. since it came there..

Someone has been messing around with the prices since it appeared on Bittrex.  Lots of bot type activity too.    Whenever the price goes up someone puts in tiny sell orders at way below everyone else - sometimes 50 or a 100 sats lower which at current price levels is a massive percentage reduction.

Since the official price on Bittrex is the last selling price (irrespective of quantity or volume) this gives a falsely low price which is then aggregated by all the coin pricing sites.

This leads to the "official" Britcoin price being much lower than the average selling price, giving people a false impression and leading people without patience to panic sell at even lower prices.

The person accumulating then hoovers these coins up at much lower than market rates (like a whale swallowing plankton).  They save a huge amount overall at the cost of selling a tiny amount of their Britcoins (and even then these are usually at a higher rate than the ensuing panic sells).

Done enough this can create it's own downward price momentum which results in a general downward price trend.

The whales just sit back and wait for the panic sellers to feed them the coins that they want.  It's normally someone with big pockets (whale) who can afford to wait a very long time.  When they decide they have had enough they have the resources to put momentum back into the market by selling large amounts of coins back to themselves as they normally have tens of BTC sitting around (unlike the average person).

This is enough to create a real buzz and bring the coin back to the community spotlight and get the price moving upwards again - this is a PUMP.  When it has moved up in price enough, they sell all of their coins off - this is the peak price, where inexperienced people hear about the coin's success and buy in.  The big whale selling off their coins during a predefined "peak" level is the DUMP.

This starts off a price fall which people panic sell into and the whole cycle can repeat again.  Often times the whale will re-accumulate at the "trough" or bottom of the panic selling phase before (after some time) starting the process again with another PUMP once the market has forgotten about the previous cycle sufficiently and/there is some good news on the horizon.

This happens with nearly every coin and will continue to happen until there is more mainstream adoption.  It's currently happening a with Britcoin and we are in the phase where one or more whales are slowly accumulating.

You can test it by waiting to see these tiny sell orders popping up and buying them when they do.  No matter how often you buy them up after a short time they will return, indicating that someone has a bot working to specifically work on lowering the price.

If they genuinely wanted to sell their coins they wouldn't break them down into tiny trades and sell them at below all the other prices, since in effect they are reducing the money they make.  Sometimes genuine people will break up their trades so as not to cause a downward trend in price, but in those cases the aim is to sell at a higher price and maintain it (not lower it).  A lower price only benefits someone who is buying.

You definitely need permission for that. Or air traffic is not safe. Planes could hit it and that won't be good. I don't know the laws for other countries but I think it would be common most places.

You're probably right but I doubt the necessary permission is hard to get as lots of people have done it.

http://news.artnet.com/in-brief/artist-launches-bonsai-tree-into-space-65519

Maybe we could crowdfund a project to put "a BRIT into space" - for publicity and promotional purposes.  Put a Prypto scratchcard with one BRIT on it into space (or orbit if possible) - could even ask Prypto to help sponsor it.  Would be both humorous and attention grabbing.

Good idea, for the future. I don't think we are far enough for something like that to happen anytime soon. You'll probably need some airspace clearance etc.

For sending something into orbit yes but for sending a small object into space and coming back (like people have done with cameras and the like) I don't think you need permission.

I've had a few people saying to me that they are wary about country coins and feel that Britcoin is country specific.  I think we need to make it clear that Britcoin is about British culture and values and is not just for Britain.  Some more universal or inclusive taglines might help e.g. "Bring out your inner Brit with Britcoin."  We also need to place an emphasis on the fact that there is no AIRDROP (unlike Aurora) or HUGE PREMINE (unlike Scotcoin's 98%).
