2281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL MiniRig Line:Concerned on: September 05, 2013, 12:51:10 AM
If BFL is purposely slowing the Minirig line, to force big-money investors to switch their investment to the Monarch line, this would be very troubling.

You cannot switch to monarch if you have an order in "fullfilled" state (after one mini rig has shipped).

I suspect they are running out of cases or other parts.

BTW, slowing the shipment rate, only helps the early adopters.

People who have late mini rig orders will switch to monarch, just a matter of time.

How could you run out of parts when you KNOW how many orders you have AND you already have their money?

DING DING DING..   that is one of the main tells of all their bullshit delay lies

I saved 10 years of my life not pressing the buy button last March on a minirig

Consider that if you fell for the estimated delivery time line and paid full price upfront then its even worst as you paid in full, unlike the others who went the trade up route. They got the chance to pay 15k and mine with the trade in hardware for 13 months.

Considering they are sending only 500 GH's 1/3 at a time full paid orders are the worst of the lot.

Looks like I am calling in "sick" tomorrow.  I have tracking numbers via FedEx for my 25 GH/s and 400GH/s kits, both arriving tomorrow.

Dave, thank you for all your hard work.

Also consider dropping your electricity costs down to zero by setting up alternative energy. It could be solar or wind. That will increase your BTC profit margin. You only need few panels to power up ASIC Miners. Grin

One direct way is using cooking oil to reduce the amounts of fans as the stable temperature should be 336K.

I am working on this, But Lack of money to do.

Well 3M makes a better liquid to manage thermal footprint with hardware submersion Smiley

P.S.

Here is the new hardware return vs network increase outlook.

I fully expect it to even out some time after november 2013 as people start to get a realization that hardware price is too high at this time.

I can't even begin to imagine how p1ssed I'd be if I ponied up $32k for 1.5Th of gear that supposedly consumes 1500w on August 1, 2012 and THIRTEEN MONTHS + 2 days later the bozos I paid were just getting around to shipping me 500Gh/s that consumes 2200w. Let's hope that person didn't pay in BTCs.

Oh Dem Bozos who ordered won't be seeing the 3300+ BTC spent "preordering". Well not from running that hardware anyway.

2287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 04, 2013, 02:09:15 AM
Whatever they decide, one thing is for sure. They will first work on getting the 200TH network up asap.

 Grin Everyone else already paid.

Is 200TH the original amount or did they double it?

was doubled.

2291  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: use your head before purchasing mining equipment.... on: September 03, 2013, 12:44:41 PM
this should always work when investing in miners

digits before the point are what you need in GH/TH ecc.., and their cost must be the difficulty/2

example

now we have 65M difficulty, so you need a 65GH/s with a max cost of 32.5 btc

ROI 3 months

That is all well and good however a few details should be considered.

The network difficulty is going to be 85M+ within the next 24 hrs.

The next issue is how long before the hardware is in hand and running.

How much backorder product is going to hit the network within the next 3 months?

Unlike GPU hardware, with its resell value intact. The risks involved in mining with asic's can be costly.
2292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs 30 day countdown to the end of September on: September 02, 2013, 08:52:44 PM
Oh for me this is simple enough: they said they'd get through orders made by July 6 by the end of September. Had it all graphed out & everything. For the purposes of this bet, that would only include Jallys.

I fail to see how they can pump out 5 months worth of Jallys in 1 month when it's taken them 1 month to get thru a 3 month backlog recently.

So if they *ship* all Jallys ordered by July 6 by the end of Sept, I'd be out 2BTC.

Doesn't matter too much to me I also have a small bet on the *other* side regarding a sold pre-order & a small profit.

Do not forget that some may have upgraded their orders to the new product offering coming 2014.

At the link above you will find charts for KNC/BFL/BitFury/Avalon returns on 20% 30% and 35% network difficulty increases.

Check out the multiple tabs. However realize that I do not expect the network increase to taper off until well after november december hardware price adjustments as purchases dwindle.

Two factors always helps peg the network difficulty increase. Projected hardware sale's / delivery dates along with bitcoins value at the time of purchase.

Honestly if you think Bitcoin value will go up you are better off purchasing btc at this time.

This charts include potential BTC return over a given time line.

Thus far average for the year is 20% but that is expected to be in the 30% for the next 4 difficulty changes.

2295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: September 02, 2013, 04:10:38 PM
The hardware doesn't likely cost more than $2k, and they want you to pay a 700% premium to make like $400 on a $14k investment. The numbers simply don't add up.

Drop the price to about $7k.

+1

and weren't they supposed to release their "something for everyone" product line "by the end of the month"??

Agreed, they did say they would offer 1-chip versions as well so hopefully thats still coming.  if they can make a 4-chip box they sure can make a 1-chip box... !

Much as i'd love to buy Cointerra's (or anyones) 2 TH box for $7k myself (thats $3500 per TH), its unrealistic at this point to expect them to sell us their gear for significantly less than their competitors are!

Lets just compare the price of the advanced mining hardware for delivery in the nov/dec timeframe :-

KnC's new pricing (i got my email from them a few hours ago, ie: today) is $4999 for a Jupiter 400 GH box (thats $12,497 per TH)
Hashfast's price for the baby Jet is $5800 for a 400 GH box (which is $14,500 per TH).  presumably they will re-price to compete with KnC in due course.
BitFury's October pricing is still $8000 for a 400 GH box ($20,000 per TH).
Cointerra's price is $13999 for a 2 TH box in Dec (ie: $7000 per TH)  (corrected price, thanks bcp!)

Used hardware has to be factored into this equation.

Miners can for one reason or another start pulling out and selling their hardware at rock bottom prices as they can write off the loss.

It is prudent to expect these manufacturers will adjust to compete with that market segment.
2296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it time to switch to satoshis ??? on: September 01, 2013, 05:02:58 PM
Hello,

I hate decimal numbers and with the value of bitcoin going so much isn't it time to switch to satoshis ? I feel like it would help the adoption because people in general would be more inclined to own 1 million satoshis than 0.01 bitcoin.

No not yet.

THIS IS SUSPICIOUS - DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE FILE WITHOUT EXTREME CAUTION

Hi guys so let me explain this horrible nightmare I have got myself into. On thursday I downloaded bitcoinqt wallet and without knowing set a password? Regrettably I was intoxicated during the time that I set up the QT client and sent 10 bitcoins to the address... So I wake up next morning check out my wallet, go to send .005 to satoshidice and realise I have a ENCRYPTION password set that I cant remember. I've tried every password I have ever used so I imagine it must have been a typo at the time I entered the password.

I am fairly sure I know 5 out of the 9 digits that may be in the password. The first 5 digits are a word that I use for my password followed by a sequence of numbers. So only 4 digits actually need to be found. Over 2 hours of manually trying to get in have had no success. I've heard that people on these forums can make code to get into lost passwords on wallets. Please message me if you are able to provide this service, and please be aware I will only trust people with a fair amount of activity on these forums with my wallet.dat and what I know of the password. I am willing to pay 2 bitcoins for the help.

THIS IS HOW MUCH I KNOW : "BONE" ##### stand for the digits (numbers) I cant recall. You can get the wallet on sourceforge if you would like to give this a shot.. If you do manage to get in, I ask that you PLEASE dont rip me off, thanks.
