I have not read through this thread yet however I've been advised that smos works on the pandaminer b3+?
2302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: June 05, 2017, 01:50:51 AM
No more pm's or emails for advice will be answered.  Just too much volume  on rig advice.

Too many people looking to riff off the designs here.  Note riff    not rip off

No one  offers  a tip  I am not  asking for that.

I have answered 10 emails and 80 pms in the last week on how to tinker the designs here.

I don't mind answering here.

Ask on the thread.  I will try to answer.

Phil I will try to make a video on the setup soon if you'd like to help alleviate some of that, I really appreciate the help & advice you've given me

2306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help - Best settings for Gigabyte 1080 TI on: June 03, 2017, 01:47:49 AM
it depends on the algo, with soem algo it can crash with any oc like with timetravel 10, wiht other algo you can do +100 on core 75% tdp, i like maximum 80% tdp, above that is pointless, too much consumption for nothing

This type of tuning is actually something i want to learn about in the near and dear future.. I went ahead and purchased 4 of the GPU's the OP mentioned above from the listing today.. which will bring my total to 6 x GTX 1080ti's mining in the near future.

Welcome aboard Cheesy I'm sure with some help & tuning we can get great results Cheesy

I plan to mine ZEC to begin, what are your thoughts on this card vs other 1080 TI?
2308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help - Best settings for Gigabyte 1080 TI on: June 02, 2017, 07:28:27 PM
Would love to compare numbers with you, i have 2 x MSI Armor GTX 1080ti's currently running as we speak, i started mining with my gaming pc just to test the waters which is watercooled, ive been playing around with different miners and i cant seem to get the GTX1080ti to work on most miners, the GPU's come up as error because its apparently an issue with seeing the memory on the GPU, so the miner sees 0GB available and just runs into errors.. the only stable miner i have come across so far is NiceHash and its been going stable for 23hrs now since starting it.. I tweaked the numbers in Afterburner today to OC the cards and im getting 1337SOL/s on Equihash on NiceHash and 131MH/s on Lyra2REv2, which seems to be the top 2 so far out of the 11 listed to mine as most profitable.. My setup is running stable at 45c with the OC settings. I setup my buddies computer today who has the same MSI Armor 1080ti as me, but on air only and his rig was only pulling 570ish SOL/s @ 80c on Equihash and 60MH/s on Lyra2REv2...

Im told the Nvidia cards are best on Skein currently, but out of all the searching i have been doing, the writeup i did find to run it on a modified version of ccminer, i cant get it to mine, it just goes into errors....

That seems to be solid results and low temps! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1854250.0 have you checked nvoc out? It is what I am planning to run my cards off of
2309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Caution! Pandaminers catching fire! on: June 02, 2017, 07:21:45 PM
how do you have your pandas setup? What was their avg temp etc? sorry this happened to you

Have you contacted pandaminer support? any input from them and are they replacing your unit?

What's the best GPU plotter out right now? /program to mine burst with?

if you have an i7 haswell or successive CPU, with AVX2, you can use CPU to plot!!!
no problem!!!
you can use "Set affinity" to use not all thread but some a few!
I use blago miner and xPlottexrAVX.
good luck
my cpu did not work for plotting 4 TB
2311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: June 02, 2017, 06:48:51 PM

Do you believe I could run the same 3 card setup like with the Aero's or no?

3 1080 ti's riser free won't happen

I do all my 3 card  1080 ti's  with 2 on the board and one on a riser.

a riser free setup with 3 cards  2 msi aeros 1 short mini 1080 or 1070 on the board can be done  with the 1 card short at the end.

I would not try it in a case.

However  I am going to build a katana katana gigabyte in a case.

Here is an asus, katana, katana   in a case  a bit too hot

 (To Phil)

Try adding a Delta 38mm to the front of the case, fans that come with cases are usually seriously wimpy.

 (To Vosk)

I would also not try 3 x 1080 ti in a non-riser build, the only motherboards that will let them space out properly to cool are WAY too bloody expen$ive and uncommon (the old Gigabyte -UD7 motherboards would work but ALL of them have been out of production for years and Gigabyte doesn't seem to be doing them on current chipsets).
As a nearly-universal rule boards with 3 x 16-bit PCI slots space the #2 and #3 slot too close together to let the #2 card cool if you have another full-length card in the #3 slot - which is why I love the Gigabyte "ITX" 1070 card (MSI makes a 1070 that size now too) - they leave 1 fan totally unobstructed, which has been enough to keep the middle card reasonably cool in my 3-card no-riser rigs when the small amount of airflow the other fans get is added in.

Some boards I've seen with 5 x 16bit slots OR MORE allow the right spacing - but BLOODY HECK you pay more for some of those motherboards ALONE than some of my 2+ card complete RIGS have cost me.

Backplates on non-riser mining rigs are a BAD THING - they obstruct airflow.
On riser rigs they don't matter, you just space the cards out more.

Do you have a picture of your 2x ti & mini build? I am trying to setup two rigs to mirror phil's 2x ti & 1 mini 3 card non-riser build

Hi fullzero, when do you estimate this image to be available?

Your lucky and Newegg shipped this one to me from NJ so I might get it by tonight.

If I do I will make an image for it tonight; if it comes tomorrow I will make one tomorrow night.
You're a legend mate Cheesy

It didn't come today, should be tomorrow.

No worries whenever you're free, a couple of my parts didnt make it before the weekend here.

How long does it normally take nvoc to boot?

Also on the Jaxx note, Jaxx is having issues with ZEC Doge and a couple others, personally just switched to exodus for the time being

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128975&cm_re=Z270P-_-13-128-975-_-Product
I would like to use your software, has anyone setup their rig with this board and your software before? I do not see it on the supported OP

What is the opinion on SSD vs USB drive, it makes sense to use a usb for the HD if its fully functional for this setup, however if an SSD is needed that is not an issue however given the choice why not use USB?

I will order one of these and make an image for it:  https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128975

I understand why members are hesitant to try a USB key, cheap USBs are usually terrible: and fast ones are usually expensive.

The Lexar drives I recommend are both fast and cheap.  Other members have requested I fully support SSDs again; so I am going to re-add full support for them in a later version.

Currently you will either need to use manual intervention or make some changes to the system or bash files when using an ssd.

Personally I use all Lexar 16gb USBs with my rigs; except one has a Lexar 32gb I got to test.  I think they are the better choice over a more expensive ssd.

This is my reasoning:

The 16gb Lexar's I recommend are very fast (watch one of the nvOC demo videos if you don't believe me)

are very cheap: $8

are easy to attach to image then remove and reattach to a rig

vs a regular SSD or HDD allow you to use at least one less cable on your rig.

Finally using a usb key allows users to try nvOC without needing to install over their previous OS (no commitment needed).

Although one could use a sata to usb adapter with an ssd, or any type of usb ssd / adapter (there are a lot)  and it would match all the advantages other than cost.  I recommend spending $8 on a Lexar 16gb and seeing if it is fast enough for you; if it is (and most likely it is) then you just saved ~$30 per rig.

2320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Warning: Jaxx Wallet on: June 01, 2017, 01:10:02 AM
I recently started messing with Jaxx wallet for a couple of alt coins and noticed today that one of the instances of the wallet, specifically the chrome plugin, quit updating the Zcash wallet after an extension update on May 25th.

I can still access the wallet from the desktop application and by other methods but I figured I would open a support case with Jaxx regarding the chrome issue since uninstalling/deleting the plugin/resetting the cache had no effect on my system. I did some reading online and found other people with similar issues that appeared to have self resolved over time while others indicated they had to contact support.

So contact support I did and here is the canned message I got

Notice that part in bold... all I can say is "Wow" when I read that piece. Jaxx is very up front about this in their support case canned e-mail but no where on their website do they say "Hey miners, don't use our wallets"

Thought I would pass this info on as a warning to those out there using this platform for mining payouts.

. . . that's really alarming, I don't have much in Jaxx - but I do have some money there..
