2301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Information on: May 19, 2019, 11:12:27 AM
-snip- .......I paid the fee to the website that I chose to receive bitcoins.
Let me guess, that website "generated" 1BTC for you and you have to send 0.005BTC as a "transaction fee" to claim it, then you've sent them the said amount; Am I correct?

And in case this is the real situation then OP is a victim of just another creative scam still ongoing victimizing many innocent, eager and uninformed newbies to the world of cryptocurrency and scams. The offer can really be enticing. Just imagine getting something out of thin air and all you have to spend to get is too little relative to what possible one can receive. Oh, this is just appealing to our greed and when there is greed there is the risk of losing money. So we have to beware and hope this is not case here.
2302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Will BNB reach $50 This Year? on: May 19, 2019, 10:56:46 AM

I am amazed at the way that BNB is growing this year. What is more amazing is that after the famous Binance hack, BNB seems to be untouched and it even continued growing. Aside from its top exchange platform, people are also looking forward to the Binance Chain as possible rival of Ethereum and TRON.

Right now it is sitting at the $28 level and is considered to be the top gainer for this recent rebound of the cryptocurrency market. The future of BNB is now getting to be rosy to the hurrahs of its growing supporters and holders...

Do you think that BNB can be able to reach the $50 level within this year? Or does it have the potential to do so, in the first place?
2303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin,Litecoin,Ethereum,Ripple,Doge on: May 19, 2019, 10:44:11 AM
And difficult to predict the market, one more thing and certain, bitcoin is the King.
So, HOLD Bitcoin.
yes indeed bitcoin is the king and we must invest in this coin, but not everyone invests only in bitcoin. of course they also invest in other coins to get additional profits. Litecoin and ethereum are also investors' favorite coins because these coins are also potentially good in the future.

Hands down, it is bitcoin that one should be giving more focus and for the sake of not putting one's eggs in one basket maybe Eth, XRP, BNB and TRON should be included. Now, this is just my opinion on my guess that these coins can go astronomical once bitcoin is hitting the high notes as its sings the glory. We all have our own preferences and guesses so there is no wrong if anyone will stick to what he believes on.
2304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DYOR on FANTOM NOW!!!!! on: May 19, 2019, 10:33:18 AM
So its worth to invest ?

Well, no one should say that you I guess. Deciding to go invest money with Fantom is your ultimate choice. Based on what I see so far this has a good potential and is actually doing not bad based on figures coming CoinMarketCap. It has a circulating supply of 1,813,658,595 and total supply of 1,987,133,655 with estimated total daily turnover of $4,464,880 USD and marketcap of $22,435,767 USD. Plus it is available in many good exchanges including Kucoin, HotBit, Digifinex, IDEX, Bilaxy, Bibox, etc. So should we give this coin a space in our portfolio? I am still analyzing and feeling my third-eye for now.
2305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The usage of the "bits" denomination with bitcoin on: May 19, 2019, 10:10:48 AM
So I just recently remembered Jimmy Song's BIP Proposal: Utilization of bits denomination in 2017; and I wanted to hear Bitcointalk's opinions on this topic.

I think one of the main reasons why people like to buy in on other coins/tokens(e.g. XRP, XLM, TRX, ADA) instead of BTC is that their prices are only in the cents range to a few dollars, compared to bitcoin which is currently at the 4 digit range(and probably soon back to 5). It isn't implausible to think that a good number of people might have been turned away from bitcoin and instead bought in on other coins and tokens due to the fact that they couldn't buy one full bitcoin, while they could buy dozens, hundreds, or thousands of the other coins. Basically, unit bias.

What if "bits" was widely used instead? Or probably sats in the future. I honestly only see a positive impact. Do you think it would benefit bitcoin?

Link to Bitcoin units/denominations: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Units#Table_of_all_units

Topic will be self-moderated for obvious reasons.

This can help a little but don't expect that people will massively get into bitcoin just because we are to use "bits" or "satoshis" as it does not matter in the long run people will still look at the full value of 1 bitcoin against what he has in his fiat wallet. In the first place, I do not see this as the hindrance at all...I have not heard anybody complaining that we are not massively using satoshis or nay unit of the bitcoin for that matter. People are gonna buy bitcoin if they think they can gain something out of it. They may get emotional about talking about the many idealism that bitcoin can be carrying but at the end of the day it is what they can get that matters most.
2306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Same thing happens to everyone who tries that! on: May 19, 2019, 09:41:37 AM
I believe all these attempts to kill bitcoin are just marketing. These developers know they can't defeat bitcoin, they are just putting some pressure on the market to consolidate their altcoins in the top trends. It's a smart idea anyway: they say a new bitcoin is being created, and just for having bitcoin on its name, the altcoin has already more chances to be in evidence than others, especially if they create a lot of polemical statements around it.

Yes, of course and this makes sense from the marketing point of view. What else would you compare your project but to the most popular, right? Some projects are claiming to be the next best thing to bitcoin and some are claiming that they have the best alternative to bitcoin. We are living in hypes and this is quite true wherever you go not just in cryptocurrency but in almost all industries even the religious ones.

Now, we also have many critics who seem to be preoccupied in formulating what they will say against bitcoin next. And yet, bitcoin is here alive, well and kicking. At the end of the day, bitcoin is here to stay but I doubt if its critics will still be remembered years from now. So we better stake  more on bitcoin and believe that it can bring us into the future we desire. Am I hyping or not?
2307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finally Facebook Has Established New Fintech Firm in Switzerland on: May 19, 2019, 09:23:07 AM
So apparently this new company will be independently working on the fb crypto and blockchain project and i guess the team of developers for the project will also be working from this office. I would like more if fb actually adds and implement btc, eth and other major coins in their platform along with their own coin when the platform is ready as this will be very positive and will boost crypto market as well.

What is clear for now is that Facebook and most probably its other owned social media platforms will be joining the cryptocurrency frenzy by introducing its own coin which millions of its sites' users can use especially maybe to buy ads. I am likewise hoping that Facebook can launch a revenue sharing program using the new coin and of course should it also open itself to other major cryptocurrencies then that will be so great (though I am doubting it).

I am now wondering: Is this move into cryptocurrency going to boost the business and long-term viability of Facebook? At the same time: Will this soon make Mark the King of Cryptocurrency?

2310  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinspin.net SCAM ALERT on: May 19, 2019, 08:39:31 AM
Do you know something about the exchange https://coinspin.net/ I received a transfer to my account on this exchange. Then a message popped up saying that I had to pay 0.02 btc to withdraw funds. I paid the amount. Then I was asked for another 0.05 btc payment which is supposed to unlock the withdrawal limit for this month. A red lamp lit. Which is very interesting. Nowhere in the Internet there is not a single information about such an exchange. I am asking for help in the investigation. there is no address, and only bots write in chat. Sophisticated scam. Watch out for this exchange. If you find out more than I do - write here.
Let me guess you found this site because some anonymous person message you asking for help?
This kind of scheme is being spread through telegram and mostly they would use an exchange and send an amount on your exchange account ,Then the exchange platform would require some deposit first before you could withdraw ,
You should really stay away from such scheme because those free money and airdrops aren't worth it anymore .

thanks to my intervention, the website was blocked
The site is still active and working on me I could still visit it.
And also you should move this thread to Scam accusation

Yes, the site is still on right now and honestly it is not looking "scammy" by just mere looking at it. It is boasting of many features including being legally compliant with registration in the UK among other things plus it is supposedly a very secured site with protection against DDoS and full data encryption. And it is putting on its main page: 54,087,999 active traders. Wow! Of course, the face is quite different from what it is in reality.

That scheme mentioned above can certainly victimized many newbies who are new to many things going on in the world of cryptocurrency. We are always riddled with scams and frauds and so we have to be careful. I am part of the victim statistics so I know how it felt to be victimized.

2312  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-11] Six Months Later, Bitcoin Makes A Daring Comeback on: May 19, 2019, 07:54:21 AM
Quote

Only now it looks like $8000 will need to be added somewhere in the bottom right frame in the nearest future.

Bitcoin remains to be one of the most fascinating (if not the most) investment and currency we can find at all times. In the era of the information and the internet, bitcoin comes along bringing us into the magical world of the blockchain and cryptocurrency. Now, ordinary guys like you and me (including your nasty and loud neighbors) got the chance to own a piece of something that promises to be the money of the future. This is bitcoin and holding some is now desired by the many. This is the best time to get into it...of course many can be looking for the dip so it is their choice.
2313  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-05-19] ECB: Crypto Has No Significant Implications on: May 19, 2019, 07:48:54 AM

It’s no secret that cryptocurrencies are not looked upon favorably by most major central banks across the world. Some crypto enthusiasts believe that central banks fear that the nascent technology could pose threats to existing monetary systems, while others believe that central banks will begin adopting the technology in the future.

Despite this, a recently released report from the European Central Bank offers a far more bearish assessment of the markets, largely writing off their utility and largely approaching them with what can be defined as a cavalier attitude.

"Crypto-assets do not fulfil the functions of money and, at the current stage, neither do they entail a tangible impact on the real economy nor have significant implications for monetary policy. The very low number of merchants that allow the purchase of goods and services with bitcoins indicates no influence of the most prominent crypto-asset on price-setting,” they explained.

Source: https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/05/18/european-central-bank-crypto-significant-implications-monetary-policy/

So even the European Central Bank is recognizing that even at today's state and the many achievements that cryptocurrency got so far, it is still a far cry from what it should be: as a currency that can be an influential in the flow of commerce on the global scale. Hence, ECB is not bothered at all not afraid of what cryptocurrency can do.

Do you agree with this assessment of ECB for cryptocurrency particularly bitcoin?

2314  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the global currency cannot be 100% internet based and if we will have one on: May 19, 2019, 07:28:39 AM
If there would be a global currency it would be on the internet since we don't need people to cross some ocean just because they need money from the one who's controlling the currency. But of course, each of our countries doesn't like the idea of someone controlling the currency thus there's no need for a global currency that isn't internet based. But most country would agree with the idea of using both fiat and crypto at the same time to benefit most of us people around the world.
Yeah a Global currency isn't something I want personally, too many countries that are fucked up, who would be printing it and changing the rules? Because they would be, you aren't going to get countries to jump on something that can't be manipulated or printed in mass, they're too used to it.

Global currency won't work as many countries are experiencing different level of success and difficulties in their economies...and this is quite reflective on variations of different fiat monies we have. This is one reason why the EURO is having a difficulty right now as EU is integrating varying economies into one system. A country's weakness and problems can easily spread to its border neighbors if we have one currency...it is even spreading right now all because we have globalization. Plus there is the question of which country or a group of people that will administer the whole one global economy as one currency really requires this. Truly, it can be impossible to achieve this dream.
2315  Economy / Economics / Re: Should exchanges ban margin trading and adopt Dividends/Interest based on time on: May 19, 2019, 07:02:58 AM
Well, I guess you're right but I don't think they should ban margin trading either. Fact is that, the exchange is doing anything to make profits so far as people will do and so that's not gonna happen (banning margin trading). Secondly, exchanges keep the huge money they make for security reasons buddy! We may see them having huge reserves but trust me, one single security breach can cost them the whole company and so they always have to get "huge reserves" (you know, for the future unexpected)! Anyways on the real, yeah traders deserve some dividends but personally I don't see it as an obligatory task of the exchange...it's somewhat just a grant.

Banning margin trading may not be the best idea especially for all exchanges because they are also making money from those transactions...and transactions is part and parcel of the lifeblood of any exchange. I do consider margin trading as a very option for traders to work with...a great way for anyone to make some money out of someone's else money making thing more exciting and I guess potentially profitable for a good player. However, I love the idea of bringing benefits to the HOLDERS. And I think there are now many projects doing that today by stacking their tokens or coins but this is not yet true with the main and top cryptocurrencies so that we rely on the upward movement of the price itself.
2316  Economy / Economics / Your Source of Investment Money? on: May 19, 2019, 06:54:02 AM

I have not been really into investing though I have some stocks with a premiere banking firm here in my country, which i just left in my broker's site idle for some years now. What made me excited into investing is cryptocurrency but unfortunately it was not bitcoin but a scamming project called TheBillionCoin which by name itself really sounded so dubious. Okay, I was still innocent and naive at the time. Soon, I meet bitcoin and it was not yet that pricey at the time but because I was not convinced that it can go sky-high I just bought some.

The main source of the money I invested with bitcoin comes from doing online job with a platform where we are allowed to post in many forums in exchange for some points and the those points can be converted to real money anytime.

What are the sources of the money you invested with bitcoin or cryptocurrency? Anybody here used credit cards?
2317  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-05-20] BTC Is Flowing to $10K on Elliot Waves on: May 19, 2019, 06:18:45 AM

Breaking resistance again and again, Bitcoin continues making its way to the top and has recently spiked to $8,300 before retracement. The bull market seems to have ceased from now on, and traders guess how low BTC might go. Some are sure there’s still hope for Bitcoin to make  few leaps. Will it reach the previous $20,000 mark or at least crawl to $10K mark?

Looking at the BTC price chart from Mikelikescrypto, we can see the frequency of Elliot waves pattern and Bitcoin’s recent performance. According to the trader, after the previous Elliot wave count, Bitcoin’s next possible target is $8,600, and then it would be possible to hit $10,000.

Source: https://u.today/bitcoin-price-is-flowing-to-10k-on-elliot-waves-can-the-boat-break-over-the-resistance-iceberg

As what many analysts and even ordinary guys like you and me predicted, Bitcoin is now back on the game after the brief correction it got into for the past many days. I think (and I hope many will agree with this) this time the sight can be towards the $10,000 though some may say it can be too early to say that. This is confirming that we are now indeed in the bull run as the market is ignoring any kind of bad news on the horizon. The energy is here and nothing can stop Bitcoin.

Let's continue cheering on Bitcoin and display the positive aura that it needs.

2318  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-15] Crytopia Opts for Liquidation Binance for Upgrade on: May 19, 2019, 06:04:19 AM
it is very important that there be thorough investigations into the hacker cases that these exchanges were targeted because it seems to me that they involve officials of those exchanges. unfortunately the news channels and even these exchanges do not provide much detail on how the investigations are being conducted by the police so it is difficult to know if have any suspects or if have any indication of involvement of the exchange workers.

I am not sure if there can be thorough investigation as to what happened in Cryptopia and if there is that possibility that inside people can also be involved. These days, in the age of the internet and cryptocurrency, it can get so hard to get into the depth of a fraud. The suspect of this hack is no other than North Korea as this rogue country is continuing legacy of mess and interference with other countries and their business using their talented and genius hackers. After the Binance hack we now realize that no one is safe as even those who can afford the best security measures and technologies can still be victims. This is the big lesson for all cryptocurrency exchanges this is the time to fortify the defenses otherwise they can be risking their own members or users.
2319  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-18] Bank of England’s Chief Economist Thinks Bitcoin Could Replace Cash on: May 19, 2019, 05:48:04 AM
A crypto media outlet citing reddit as their source?, LOL. I wouldn't take this seriously, I don't know why he was invited in that university but I'm assuming the discussion was about economics and related stuff. And as per article:

Quote
“Mr. Haldane said it [bitcoin] could replace cash, he even joked about us likely having Bitcoin in our wallets,” the witness shared on Reddit. “He said he didn’t think it’d replace cash tomorrow, but he was quite open to the idea 20 or 30 years down the line. He was also quite familiar with cryptocurrencies and joked that there were now thousands of them.”

So that's the keyword there, obviously he wanted to have a lively discussions and perhaps he just quip that statement to please the crowd, so I will take everything with a grain of salt here.

As a relatively young economist, maybe he is really open to the idea of cryptocurrency but he knows where he speak and the global realities that we are in that is why he predicted that maybe it can happen 20 or 30 years down the road. And given the fact that many governments are not yet that open on this platform which would surely affect their control of the economy, 30 years may not even be enough for bitcoin to gain a broad acceptance. What is important here is that right now, there are now an increasing number of prominent people and leaders of different industries who are more inclined to believe on bitcoin and cryptocurrency...this is important in the shift of the paradigm. Just like terraforming Mars, it can take decades before seeing the silver lining on the sky.
2320  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin in 2020 on: May 19, 2019, 05:02:16 AM
There is no assurance that Bitcoin might reach that figure of $50,000 but it is still possible though. As we see with the price of Bitcoin from the previous price up to now is that i don't think it will reach $50k since the price right now is beyond to what would be the next level of new ATH in 2020.

Anything is possible with bitcoin but it is quite unpredictable and sometimes defying all odds and of course it can go both ways...up or down. So two years from now, I am seeing bitcoin to get more adoption and improvement too so yes it can go as high as $30,000 maybe. I am a conservative guy so I am not into astronomical prediction. Anyway, to predict it is free so let's indulge ourselves here just for fun who knows some of our prediction here can come true.
