2341  Economy / Economics / Re: At last, Twitter wins the battle!! on: October 05, 2022, 06:31:26 AM
A good turn of events for Twitter as they are close to closing the deal. Elon has good plans for the social network

I am not that much certain that this is good for Twitter. Elon seems to have a quite simplistic idea about what freedom of speech means and this will most probably be conflicting with what Twitter had until now.
Will this be better or worse? I don't know yet, but I expect that at start it will probably leave some people disappointed (both those who will be surprised Trump gets his account back and those hoping the FUD and fake news will be eradicated instantly - or at all). Also many are expecting crypto payments over Twitter, but this means obeying regulation and much more strict KYC, so, again, too much hopium.
I would not be surprised that also various troll armies will no longer get punished (freedom of speech, you know). And probably the bots will not be so easy to eradicate.
2342  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin + MetaMask? on: October 04, 2022, 05:44:41 PM
Technically, I get that Bitcoin isn't an ERC20 token so it's not compatible with MetaMask which is Ethereum-based, but there's the option of wrapped BTC right? So does it even make sense to add Bitcoin support for MetaMask? Seems like a low priority.

Welcome aboard!
Wrapped bitcoin is just another ERC20 token with a fancy name; it's not bitcoin.
As you said, Metamask works with things on Ethereum blockchain. Bitcoin has it's own blockchain, different from ETH. So Metamask cannot just add Bitcoin like it adds tokens.
2343  Other / Meta / Re: Frequent 400 Bad Request errors on: October 04, 2022, 05:40:04 PM
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Today not at all. Got that in the past now and then - very seldom - but not today.
I am reading the forum from Chrome on desktop and Firefox on mobile.

I don't think it's a problem related to the browser, I would blame the ISP and maybe your current IP address (did you try to restart your router?)

However, not sure if it worths to mention (not relevant I think)- I had very bad experience with forum search as it was taking years to load the search result which resulted in giving up.

I've done a search right now, it was not fast, clearly, but not too slow either, but the keyword/number of results matters.
However, I recommend you use https://ninjastic.space/search , it does the job better in most cases.
2344  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC MISSING INVESTIGATION - ELECTRUM WALLET on: October 04, 2022, 03:19:16 PM
2)The Address I sent it to ( bc1qcj3f0kllhwctsvgud4k9zv5gxqf574fm2qlj5t ) has disappeared from my friends Electrum wallet.

Did it disappear or was never there?
A filter (like used and unfunded) can make addresses disappear, but for a good reason.
But I think that the address may have never been there - he can check in console with
Code:
ismine("bc1qcj3f0kllhwctsvgud4k9zv5gxqf574fm2qlj5t")

Then we can see whether it's a clipboard malware or something else.
2345  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2022, 03:12:09 PM
Nayib Bukele was the president who stepped forward. But, In Mexico's case. Mr Andrés Manuel López Obrador is already 68 and I have a feeling that he doesn't understand What Bitcoin is. But, let's see what happens.

I understand that. Depends also on the country's legislation and I don't know how's in Mexico.
In my country the president can turn back a law once for review, which can delay it significantly; afterwards he has to sign it anyway. If in Mexico he has more power it can be worse. But.. let's get that far first...
2346  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2022, 02:34:35 PM
I cannot recall how long El Salvador took after their first announcement. They were able to do it faster because of their President Himself. Nayib Bukele Himself was the main guy behind it. According to research, Most the 60s people (Or older than that) don't understand Bitcoin. So, If you have more senior people in the government, it would be tough for them.

I don't know how long was it, but it's not relevant, I think that he had quite a majority in the parliament, and, as you said, he's also the president.

Heh, Don't worry. We have Inspect Element in Browser. Inspect Element made me Legendary too many times. I just took this now for you.

No, I don't want that. And I have the real deal here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5251894.msg61060190#msg61060190

Nakamoto — we still don’t know who she, he, or they were — didn’t have faith in the financial sector overseen by folks like us, sitting around this table

2347  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits limit my max bettign because I am winning on: October 04, 2022, 02:04:30 PM
I have been winning a lot in sportbook lately and they limit my bets for 70$ max on sport booking.  Only because I figured out how to win the system.

And what's their official stance? Did they accused you of cheating of some sort? Or are you under some investigation?
I mean I doubt they said "we'll limit your account because you're winning too much".

I don't take any side, but this is missing from your story/image and imho it's relevant.
2348  Other / Meta / Re: We can easily implement Dark Mode on bitcointalk right now! on: October 04, 2022, 01:58:31 PM
Some dark themes for Bitcointalk

I see something is notably missing from the list: the BPIP extension.
* the BPIP extension has in-built 2 dark themes
* you can add your CSS as custom theme if you want to

I think it worth a try, since it has much more than that (like showing who is inactive or banned, or DT members; ah, and also links to ninjastic.space or loyce.club or direct link to seeing the archived version of a post).
2349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Senator Says 'I Love That Bitcoin Can't Be Stopped' on: October 04, 2022, 01:44:10 PM
It’ll take a while but we’ll get there.

Exactly. We're still early.

However, as they're saying "gradually, then suddenly", now most countries are only "checking the waters". But I would not be surprised if in 10 years (or less?) the remaining countries may get into a FOMO situation and rush to make sure they do have Bitcoin as legal tender (at least!). Am I overly optimistic? Maybe, but the currently starting recession may be an eye opener.
2350  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2022, 01:36:16 PM
Don't shoot the messenger  Grin
On the other hand, i admit when it comes to normal people's common sense, i always expect the worst.

Don't worry. I know you're right.

Some countries of Africa should follow the adoption of Bitcoin as a legal tender, too, and i have read about regulation drafts in the EU yesterday, without details though.

Africa is a troubled continent and may not be taken serious that much. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is how I see it.
On the other hand... an EU country would be breaking news. And although, like Crypt0S0ul correctly pointed it out, it will still take quite a while after any announcement, or may even not come to reality even if announced, it's interesting to hear. We're living interesting times.

I will take the opportunity to brag here (thanks Crypt0S0ul for getting me to the exact 5k point and also for making me aware)

2352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2022, 01:24:38 PM
I don't expect this to happen overnight.

Me neither. There are so many steps to pass, there are so many places the opposition can make this fail or get delayed, ... this is how the laws go from idea to reality (or to oblivion).
For now we can be happy for the news and... wait.

BTW, @NeuroticFish, Congrats For reaching the 5K Merit Club.

Thank you for getting me (exactly) there.

So let's hope our big brothers won't even try to start to give birth to memes like "climate terrorism".

You do have a good logic in this and I admit that my expectations from people reading correct information from correct sources is unrealistically big.
Still, please don't break my enthusiasm; let's hope together you didn't give any ideas to "big brothers".
2354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mexico is the next El Salvador? on: October 04, 2022, 01:09:10 PM
But will the Mexican government ready to abandon their Mexican peso?

Most probably no, like El Salvador also didn't ditch USD.
I have a feeling you don't know exactly what legal tender means hence you have more expectations from it than you should.

What are your thoughts about this?

I find it more interesting like El Salvador, more like Central African Republic, since Mexico has its own proper currency. I expect quite some opposition from Central Bank's side.
Plus, as said, Mexico is a big country with big population. If this is going to happen, it would be cool.
2355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 04, 2022, 10:13:56 AM
I hope the US won't start to divide the world into "climate friendly" and "climate hostile" countries and base politics on that.
Remember, we've seen this already in the past, for example the "axis of evil".
The "Currency of drugs, money laundering and terror"-approach didn't seem to work too well.

Ecouraging PoW would be "climate terrorism" then, i guess.

The public is so dumb, people will swallow everything to keep up their inner urge to argue against something, just to be distracted from their poor, deeply hurt and insecure selfs.
This seems much more esoteric than it really is, mainly because of the wording   Tongue

You do have a valid point, but this "climate terrorism" should also be not too difficult to debunk, especially nowadays, when mining is no longer mainly in China.
So I have high hopes that this kind of strategy will not work.

Mexico Will adopt Bitcoin as Legal tender.

So it'll get to US doorsteps. Interesting...
Now let's see when will this get real, actually.
2358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mcdonald's in Lugano, Switzerland now accept Bitcoin on: October 04, 2022, 08:25:32 AM
What are your thoughts on this?

It's a good advertising for Bitcoin and LN, however, I'd say it probably has only local effects.
McDonald's restaurants are franchise and, while this or that accepts Bitcoin, it's not a (global) policy of the actual McDonald's chain.
So it's nice, but let's not get overly excited.
2359  Economy / Lending / Re: I require a loan on: October 04, 2022, 08:12:11 AM
Plead help. I really don't have any other ideas on how to fix my issues at the moment, and the debt is racking up interest at a rate I am afraid I cannot cover in a timely manner.
The only thing left to lose is my life.

You have to think on something else. Like getting a job.
Or get one of the old business partners help you. Or get your friends to better sentiments, if they are indeed friends.
Losing your life is the ultimately wrong move. With enough willingness and good health money can be recovered. Not easy, since it's a very big amount, still...

However, asking for such a huge a donation from unknown people is not the way to go, no matter how desperate or dramatic you are.
And, let's be honest, since you cannot provide any proper collateral, what you're asking is a donation, not a loan.
