2361  Economy / Gambling / Re: PEERBET 2.0 OUT! *DRK*! Peerbet.org/PeerDice.org INVEST 0.3% Edge! Dice BTC/Alts on: March 29, 2015, 09:31:43 PM
I haven't tried peerbet in years.  This is a classic bitcoin gambling site I'm glad it's still up.  Do you guys still have an android app?  Is it still a 0% house edge?

0% house edge is on the raffle, and yes, it's still active.

I may give it a try this week then.  Is there stil an android app?  (my old peerbet android app seems to have stopped working a loooong time ago; which is probably why I thought the site was gone.)
2362  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: March 29, 2015, 09:30:14 PM

I still do not understand why primedice lags this much. They are the most trusted , most wagered dice game out there. Still keeps lagging. We know you paid the developer hefty plus some percentage , just tell him to fix this already...

The javascript they use to run the bets display uses a lot of resources.  I usually click over to the "all bets" tab and watch my cpu go from like 80% down to 30-40%.  Now that I know about the api, I typically am using that for the same reasons.  Check your cpu usage when primedice is running.
2363  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitcoinPoker.gg - 1BTC Freeroll - Daily 200mBTC Freerolls on: March 29, 2015, 09:27:28 PM
Everything looks to be stable now.

We are going to have our 200mBTC Freeroll as we promised. It will be this Tuesday at 7:00PM EST. Please click here to make sure you are registered. The allowed registrants have been increased to from 50 to 200.

This tournament will have the same payout structure has the 1BTC Freeroll:

-Between 1-50 participants payout 100% (200mBTC) to 1 winner

-Between 51-200 participants payout Top 3 spots
1st: 100mBTC
2nd: 60mBTC
3rd: 40mBTC

Please remember the payouts are based on players that actually show up to the tournaments NOT just registered. For example if 100 people register for the tournament but only 30 show up, the tournament will pay out 100% to 1 winner. If 51 or more show up, the Top 3 spots will be paid.

We have also enabled late registration for this tournament as well as No-shows. The time for these has been set to 30 minutes.

Thanks everyone and good luck!

Nice, site loaded right away for me today.  I made an account and registered for your freeroll on Tuesday.  I was a faithful sealswithclubs player for 2.5 years so I'm sad they they're gone (or back but for WINDOWS only).  Good to see that there's a poker site that allows play in the browser.
2364  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: March 29, 2015, 05:20:15 AM
This looks like a very interesting game.. I'll win by using that 1% skill. Smiley
Edit:  Played like 20 rounds, really awesome, I thought I was rich, but then realized 1 bit is like 0.000001 BTC x_x

Yah, if you look back in this thread, there are a bunch of people who are totally confused by this "bits" lingo.  I've seen it in a few places and I personally find it pretty dumb.  Why some people think it's a good idea to add the confusion of renaming a particular fraction of bitcoin I have no idea.

FWIW, I haven't tried moneypot I just read through this thread.
2365  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitcoinPoker.gg - 1BTC Freeroll - Daily 200mBTC Freerolls on: March 29, 2015, 05:08:07 AM
I missed your big freeroll.  And, with sealswithclubs gone and swc windows only and betcoin poker simply seems to crash everytime i try their flash client I've been without a bitcoin poker experience for far too long.  I'm going to check you guys out and thank god for no .exe that you are focused on the browser.

EDIT: just saw your DDOS troubles Sad    I wasn't able to connect to bitcoinpoker.gg so I guess that's still going on.  I'll try again when I can.
2366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brain wallet funds instantly relayed! D= on: March 29, 2015, 05:06:16 AM
You underestimate the power of rainbow tables...
You mean 'they' already got into that long passphrase?
Say goodbye to brainwallet

It's really not surprising that one of the most popular lines from shakespear is in a rainbow table for brainwallet.  There was a recent slashdot story about how to actually create a strong, yet memorable passphrase.  I think the OP would be interested in this as it addresses his concern.

2367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: where do i report bugs in bitcoin-qt on OSX on: March 29, 2015, 04:56:29 AM
as the title states, where do i report them. i use the OS X client and i noticed a few bugs. i wanna help eradicate them and i also want to help optimize the UI for hiDPI (retina) displays. how can i contribute?

Curious what bugs you're seeing?  I've used the qt client quite a bit on GNU/Linux and I haven't had any troubles.  Again, just curious.
2368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Permabull Party Thread on: March 29, 2015, 04:54:35 AM
Permabull since 2011 here. Risk/reward now seems about what it felt-like to me in early 2012, though I do think cycles are likely to take longer now vs then, since the ecosystem is larger.

And just to be clear, many of us bulls fully ack the risk involved with bitcoin as an investment, and consider it a very high sigma positive expectation position. Actually, it's probably the most asymmetrical opportunity I've seen, by far, that doesn't require the resources/expertise of a hedge-fund operator to actually execute on.

This is very true. Bitcoin is very easy to get in on. No minimum deposit requirements, no credit or background checks. If you can figure out how to buy something on amazon, you can figure out how to buy bitcoin at circle or coinbase.

I guess this is probably correct.  And for speculation it's certainly crucial that people can buy bitcoin easily.  However, what I'd like to see a lot more of is spending of bitcoin on everyday stuff.  That, IMO, would be the best for us in the long run.
2369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are people incentivized with [btc] to run nodes? on: March 29, 2015, 04:51:13 AM
It is better to have more nodes at different locations than at one location. If a datacenter experiences a blackout and lets say 1000 nodes run there, the network would instantly lose 1000 nodes which isn't good.

That depends on the total number of nodes out there. If there are a 1000 still left running even that is good enough. In fact I would say even 40-50 nodes would work. If we count the pools, big exchanges then we easily have that number.

In my opinion there's a difference between what "would work" and what would be ideal.  I'd prefer to see more nodes running than less.  40-50 seems like a very small, very attackable network, IMO.

anyone let me know if there is something I have not made clear.

I have no idea what to offer, a one page basic site is $10, I will offer $100 for this project Roll Eyes

If you think the whole project can be done in 3 or 4 hours that would be a fair price Smiley

I dont know is the point, I need guidance. I can do the main website, but there is no point in building it if the SQL redeemer needs a different back end.

Assuming there's some squallcoind which takes similar commands to bitcoind, EcuaMobi should be able to do the job for you just as if you were using bitcoind, right?
2371  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 mBTC Bonus - Chainroll | The Easiest Dice Game in Bitcoin - 1% House Edge on: March 29, 2015, 04:47:26 AM
Hey guys, no need to register for promo anymore, everyone who signs up on the site will get a promo code by email when we do the next blast.
We'll also drop the restrictions so you don't have to wager the bets by the multiplier.
Stay tuned for a new promo!

This finally explains what I was missing.  The promo codes come via email.  I think I'll probably skip this one since email "blasts" are exactly the reason that I don't usually give out my email to companies.   Cheers and good luck with your site.  As I said before, the low-resource javascript was impressive.

Hey, thanks!
You can submit your email and unsubscribe from our newsletter afterwards, np. We won't you spam you again since we track all the unsubscribes.

I think i'm gonna say thanks but no thanks on this one.  If you want to send me a code for the giveaway you could use PM on this forum.  To be honest, 1mBTC isn't really worth giving away my personal email.  And, it's not really worth setting up a spam email to give it to you and check it.  For 10mBTC I might do it, lol.  Smiley

Again, good luck with your dice site.  It seems like a market with a whole lot of competition at the mo.
2372  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: March 29, 2015, 04:44:01 AM
I recently sent 0.3 to my pd account but my balance is still zero after going through several confirmations.

If I were you, I'd email support@primedice.com.  I once had some balance dissappear during a primedice issue and I emailed about it and they made it right (and then some).  I'm sure if you email the info to them that they'll straighten you out.

Is there actually Russian chat on Primedice or are you guys fooling around with me?  I remember Micro being very angry at anyone who used anything other than what decided was English.

There is actually a Russian chat room.
At the bottom of the chat tab, there is a "Change Chat Room:" drop down menu, and you can choose from 3 different rooms "English", "PVP" and "Russian".

Yes, there is a Russian chatroom.

I feel it is necessary because people used to speak Russian or Indian in pvp.

I, for one, never understood why it's a problem for people to speak in whatever language they want in whatever chatroom they want.  I understand that Micro (et al) don't agree.  I'm guessing it's because these guys are moderators and they want to feel important.  sealswithclubs chat was never moderated and there was never an issue.  if people spammed or begged you just ignored them.

still, i'm glad to hear that other languages are no longer outlawed.  I'm going to look for that tab next time i sign in.

Thanks, hui, for the reasonable replies.  I happen to disagree in almost every way.  Smiley  Some replies below

Quote
two reasons why we try to keep the "english" chatroom "english" (apart from the name):

- people go crazy and definitely dislike if people repeatedly don't care if they are understood by the majority of people present
- moderators are ment  to moderate, which is impossible if they can't understand what they have to take care of because of language

But if there's an ignore button then anyone can stop listening to anyone they don't like.  Imagine a world without moderators.  You say if moderators can't do their job then that's a problem, but I, for one, question the need moderators in the first place.

Quote
there _are_ quite some russian people which try to speak english and are a welcome and precious part of the english speaking part of the community.

unfortunately there are some people who just dont care - some of them even don't seem to care that there is a russian chatroom.

in order to at least try to keep the chat clean and friendly moderators tend to tell them to use english in the english chat-room and russian in the russian chatroom.

it definitely has nothing to do with an urge to feel important.

i for my part would be more than happy if they took the red M away from me since its much more of a burden than a pleasure to be in such a position (and i never asked for it).

imagine a chatroom full of people with everyone speaking in his native language - i don't think it would be a lot of fun to be there...

I imagine this is just the sort of chatroom I'd prefer.  However, obviously it's a matter of opinion.

Quote
it could be nice to have a chatroom for every language spoken by pd users, too although it would probably clutter the community and there might be a lack of people willing to moderate for all of those languages.

I think it'd be a step in the right direction.  What if there was a "create room" button where people who the moderator was after to speak "english" were able to step into their own room for their own language as they preferred.  Wait.  An unmoderatred room!  Smiley

This would be a good experiment in my opinion, open an unmoderated room and keep the moderated room.  See which room people hang out in.

Quote
but all that is just my personal opinion and doesn't necessarily reflect anyone elses Wink

Same disclaimer applies to me Smiley
2375  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 mBTC Bonus - Chainroll | The Easiest Dice Game in Bitcoin - 1% House Edge on: March 28, 2015, 07:03:41 PM
A new dice site.  These are getting really popular.  One question, your topic mentions a 1mBTC bonus but the OP says nothing about that.  What's up with the bonus?  Is it for signing up?  For depositing?  Any rollover?  (etc?)

OP sent the 1mbtc bonus to any email address in their database.

The rollover is as I posted before :

Quote
* Note (only for promo bonuses, not faucet):
Once you activate a bonus, your payments get blocked until you wager the entire TARGET WAGER balance. The contribution to your TARGET WAGER depends on the multiplier you roll the dice with and it's calculated by the following formula: WAGER * (MULTIPLIER / 100) . i.e.: If I roll the dice with a wager of 0.1 and a multiplier of x50 my final TARGET WAGER contribution will be: 0.1 * (50 / 100) = 0.05 BTC . The higher the BET and the MULTIPLIER - the faster you will reach the TARGET WAGER and unlock your payments.
Good luck!

Yes, thanks I found the rollover requriments.  So, I signed up by clicking "get started" then I set a username and password.  If I put an email addres is he still wanting to give out the bonus or is that over?

All in all, I appreciated that the site didn't take a lot of cpu resources like many of the javascript dice sites do.
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ProTip vs Changetip One of BTC's Killer Community Apps? on: March 28, 2015, 06:51:13 PM
I'd like to see them both run successfully side by side, I like both for different reasons and they do each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages.

My understanding of Protip is that all tipping is done peer to peer on the blockchain. This of course fits perfectly with the idea of Bitcoin since it's decentralized and trustless. Being entirely on-chain does have some disadvantages that make it less than ideal for microtransactions. Extensive use of Protip could pollute the UTXO set with a lot of small transactions and result in people playing larger fees to spend their BTC, it also makes it difficult to send someone a tip smaller than the "dust limit".

Changetip is great for aggregating microtransactions off-chain, minimizing fees and potential UTXO bloat. Of course it comes with all the potential disadvantages of relying on a trusted third-party, something Protip avoids.

Since I personally trust my coins a lot more in my own wallet than in any wallet run by a third-party (with the possible exception of a GreenAddress 2of2), I would use Changetip for smaller tipping transactions like you usually see on Reddit and I'd use Protip for larger transactions like donating to an opensource project I want to support.
I'd like to see both of them are existing in the market, competing with each other, and perfecting their service. Then we, as a cunstomer, would choose the best service to cater for our needs in different situations.

This does seem like the best situation.  Competition!  I'm not into social medias so I don't have a vested interest here, nevertheless I can certainly see the value in the OP's claim about man in the midle and private data vs trustlessness and open-source.  I'll be keeping and eye on protip.
2377  Economy / Services / Re: Need help loading physical coins on: March 28, 2015, 03:00:09 PM

thanks for the fast response, Afraid I have no interest in porting to BTC, but the rest sounds interesting, I will keep you in mind and see how this thread develops.

My bad, I wasn't following your projects. Of course I can port it to Squall or any other coin too.

Lol, I was also completely confused by OPs response to your offer, EcuaMobi.  He wants to load physical bitcoins but doesn't want to "port" to btc.  Pretty funny.  Now I see his squallcoin links and I also understand.  From what I've seen, most of the altcoin software begins life as straight up forks of the bitcoind codebase so I imagine all the JSONRPC command are going to be essentially the same.  Good Luck!
